Ok, long overdue an update of this review several months on and the opening ceremonies well and truly over and done. So in traditional style The Trough of Blandness award finally goes to the Hot Flame World Buffet! Like every other one of these places it starts well but as the initial rush subsides the quality plummets leaving in the main a somewhat cold congealed mess! In general food was luke warm, the chinese section tasteless, cardboard pizza which had been sitting a while, tasteless pasta, unappetizing dessert section... The list could go on! Even the drinks were poor! I asked for a soda water and lime to which we were asked... Whats that? Is that like some sort of Lemonade?! The mind boggles. I had such high hopes for these guys on opening day but at least I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Sadly they blew it. read more

Not sure why there is two pages up for this one? I've been here twice and in over a year nothing has changed with the exception of another word added to the signage outside above the door. The food is to a poor standard in taste and looks, they have had "now open" sign on the window for over a year now, can't understand why it's still up. This place should be on a list of places to avoid in a year the food has got worse than better, definitely avoid. read more

Not usually a fan of the ol' buffet places but the sheer novelty factor made me intrigued as to what this place would be like...many foodz for ALL AROUND THE WORLD! Woah. Heavy duty. Turns out it wasn't ALL food from around the world (that'd be daft and the restaurant would need to be SECC sized but I was looking forward to trying some Antarctic food. Oh well...) but instead they had: Italian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese and dirty knees, oh! Sorry, nah, that was about it - they had some 'Grill' section that was fairly non-specific in food origin, seemed a mix of everything you like but grilled well good. I must say I was pleased with the choice having heard a few whispers that there was only a couple of meals from each country. Instead there was great choice; roughly about 6 Indian curries, 6 Chinese foods and lots of various sushi and pizzas. I mainly stuck to the Indian & Chinese foods & they did not disappoint. All the pakoras were yummy & apart from some slimy beef Chinese thing all the main courses were lovely too; my favourite being their Japanese curry. Nom. But alas, with all buffet's comes my downfall: eyes bigger than my belly :( I tried SO hard to be good and not fill myself up on breads/rice/noodles like I normally do but yet I still over done it. Ooft. Sore. Have to say I didn't even venture near the dessert table (not a big dessert person) but some of the mini cakes looked so cute & I heard they were tasty too. Only grumble I have is the lack of draft beer. Not good. Especially when they have it listed on their menu. Bums. So had to opt for a (much dearer) bottle of beer instead. Also I noticed their wine list was quite pricey too, I guess this is where they make their money. We went for the evening meal on a Friday night & it was £13.95 a head. I ended up paying £17, that's including a tip, so pretty good considering ALL the foodage I did stuff my mouth with. Groan. read more

Popped in here today for a wee dabble; I only noticed it by accident a couple of days ago after getting lost (don't ask, I do that a lot) and taking a wrong turn... First impressions were good, really friendly and helpful staff greeted me the instant I walked in the door. Once he'd given me a table and pointed me in the direction of the plates and food, he took my order for a drink (a pint of coke, fact fans) and by the time I'd returned to my table, it was waiting for me. The main problem I have with the buffet style joints usually, is simply the fact that you get the feeling stuff is just rushed out and quality suffers for quantity - here, however, it's not the case. With a choice of Mexican, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Thai and even sushi the customer is spoilt for choice. Veggie folks are catered for as well, with several veggie options. The food is damned nice, and the novelty of sitting with a plate that has some Enchiladas, some Chicken Korma and a couple of pizza slices on it doesn't ever wear off - dip you pizza in the korma sauce, it's ace! The staff are quick to take away empty plates without ever being overbearing or taking away unfinished food too, another bugbear about other bufffet places *coughChinaBuffetKingcough* Downsides? Not many, to be honest. The decor is a bit higgledy piggledy, could possibly do with offering fresh cutlery next to the plates, and I accidentally ate a mushroom with my BBQ chicken. I hate mushrooms. All in all though, I would happily recommend visiting here to anyone who can't make up their mind about lunch! Go and give it a try. read more

I'm a big believer in going into a place with my expectations adjusted accordingly. As such I wasn't expecting amazing food from this place, and the food we had (a wonderfully weird mix of chinese, indian and some pizza) was ok. It wasn't great, it was mostly bland but as I said, my expectations were low going in. But there is more to a place than the food it serves, and this is what puzzles me. This kind of buffet dining could be fun, cheap and cheerful, but here it's a horrible mix of a grotty establishment with awful, awful staff. I will not eat here again. I'll spare you the details about my trip to use the toilet, down slippery dirty stairs, an unmopped floor and all. As for the staff, they seemed blissfully unaware that there were two diners having a meal. Our seats were over by the drinks station although it seemed more like the staff gathering place, and on more than one occasion they held conversations directly over our table like we didn't even exist!! Shocking. But at least we now know that their staff meetings are at 10am on a Sunday and that members of staff can no longer take glasses of water for themselves because they'll get into trouble... apparently some of the staff weren't returning the glasses to the restaurant. Terrible, I know. Mediocre food, rude staff, and a general lack of care. The only upside would be the price, £10 and you can eat as much as you want. But, as ever, you get what you pay for. read more

I wouldn't even give this place a star. It looks nice but the food is awful. You couldn't pay me to come back here. Not a great selection of food to start off with. Everything was dry and cold. Don't attempt the seafood because you don't know how long thats been lying there. Dessert was just cakes and ice cream. The only decent thing about here was the music. Went here recently for lunch and I'm pretty sure I won't be back. Despite claiming to offer a wide range of food choices, in my opinion the only tasty options were the pizzas and some of the Indian food. The 'sushi' was barely passable as sushi and there were only one or two fresh veg options - and these looked a bit wilted! They do have a Mr Whippy machine for dessert though - worth 2 stars alone. The drinks (only sampled soft drinks) were nice and reasonably priced - draft is a bottomless cup - and the staff were lovely, looks of cooing over baby A! I'm sure they do a good enough trade being on Sauchiehall street between students and people out for a boozy night out but in my opinion this place is one to be missed. read more

My poor Dad. Now that he lives in Edinburgh, he decided a day trip to Glasgow for his birthday lunch was in order and so my entire family descended here. When nine adults and six kids can walk in off the street on a Saturday afternoon and be seated immediately - probably doesn't bode well. So firstly the service - we had two huge tables side by side and I am fairly sure we didn't see the same waiter twice. Having to ask for drinks three or four times became quite irritating quite quickly, moreso because my Dad was seated immediately underneath a heater which apparently couldn't be switched off. The food? I think "ugh" pretty much covers it. Pakora which was quite clearly the dregs from the fryer being left out and not refilled as there was still some in the bowl, an unappetising mound of congealed burgers available to eat - but no rolls beside them, lukewarm pizza with the consistency of cardboard, bland and insipid "curry". The dessert selection was a stramash of supermarket own brand efforts. As I said, poor Dad. I mean at £8/head for the adults and £4/head for the kids it was inexpensive which is the sole saving grace but the reality is we'd have been better fed and more satisfied by a cheeky McDs. I had been here before but that was a while ago and it had just opened it's doors. Back then it was poor. Seemed a little out of order things had not settled etc...Most things you get with a new restaurant. Going back there still seems to be problems. From being seated in an awkward table (we did have a large group to be fair) having to wait for people to finish before you could move. Ordering drinks that took an age to arrive. Then on to the food/dining experience. It was really busy when I went. There were people everywhere with half filled plates. A queue could form anywhere at any point. There was no direction no organisation. I have been to other places like this and they all seem to do best at 1 style of cuisine. The Indian curries seem to be alright but the rest of the food fails. No Chasni on offer was a minus point. It figures in all buffet's. Food was ok. Nothing that blew me away. For catering a big group it is fine. If you want proper tastey food then I would go elsewhere. It was £10 for me but that was during the week at lunchtime. Someone else was doing the money dealings, maybe a little black magic thrown in there. I expected somewhere near the £15. Overall I would not choose to go here. I love buffets but they never really seem to be amazing. They just plug a gap. Leave you bloated and needing a nap. read more

I'm only giving this place one star because I *have* to, in order to review it. And this isn't at all about the food, to be honest, but more the service (or appalling lack of it). As far as buffet, eat-all-you-can deals go, it's not too shabby actually. £9.99 on a Sunday for as many rounds your tummy can handle. At this price, it's not going to be top notch food but for lunch, it's good enough to keep a rumbling stomach at bay. With a selection of mexican, indian, chinese and european food on offer, you'll end up with the weirdest selection of food all on one plate - but sometimes it's nice to eat a potato smiley face with a chicken korma. Therein my positive comments end. The service in this place when I visited last was so bad it was almost laughable - had it not been annoying. We were sat right by a 2 foot (or so) glass partition between us and the bar - although according to the staff behaviour, they seemed to think it was a 7ft soundproofed wall of invisibility. Not only did they hover over us as we were eating - as someone a bit funny about being watched as I eat, this was particularly frustrating - but they then proceeded to talk loudly about staffing matters. I'm now *lucky* enough to know when this particular establishment holds its monthly staffing meetings, why one waitress missed this week's meeting, and that the staff are now no longer to have glasses of juice unless they're on break - as the glasses keep going missing and the customer's then have to wait for drinks. This conversation only ended when Gordon had to ask the offending staff members to stop talking over us - they were both at either end of our table, having their conversation right over our heads and our food. I don't particularly like having to write bad reviews of places - but even while we were there we witnessed another table making a complaint and nothing was done about it. So I went here for my birthday the other day and was pleasantly surprised! I expected it to be usual fare but nothing amazing. Their curries were lovely. A nice mix of indian, chinese, thai with some italian, Spanish and japanese options. Some options were great such as chicken tikka, chicken fajita and pakora were great. Other things were ok such as paella and the sushi which were a little dry but none the less tasty. Good little selection of desserts on offer too such as ice cream, tiny cakes of awesome, gulab jamun and jalebi to complete the lot! All the staff were lovely and kind especially the girl who I believe was called Katie who was especially lovely. Veey attentive, genuine and helpful. Id definetely go here again! read more

This is the second trip I've made to this place within the space of a month. The first occasion was for Harry's 30th birthday, and most recently we took my wee mammy and daddy there to celebrate their birthdays, being that they are mere days apart. Tis one expensive month!! Weekday dinners are cheaper by a few pounds, which I wasn't expecting, so that was a definite bonus! There is a drinks deal for two for one cocktails on any day but Saturday, and while they are alright, you can get comparitively priced cocktails nearby for much cheaper. Stick with the soft drinks, my friends! Now on to the food! There was a great mix of many nations cuisine, but depending on when you go there may be more nations than others. I did love that there was a whole Italy station to itself - the pizzas were actually very nice, with a good selection of interesting toppings. There are only a couple of pasta options, and on each occasion both were super-dairy, so I avoided them. There was a great selection of chickeny things, like Chaat, Gyoza, pakora, and more. I sampled a little of everything small and nibbly, and I found the food very pleasing. There was a small selection of sushi, all of which were vegetarian apart from the sake nigiri (salmon). Their tamago nigiri was very nice too. The salad station was a bit disappointing. Not really any dressings to speak of, but and the prawns were drowned in a very bland mayonaise dressing. For someone who's keen on a salad and / or prawn cocktail, my tastebuds were very sad pandas. Dessert time was a little bit special because I just love asian sweets! There was kheer, jalaibi, gulab jamun... and there was also a very nice selection of ice cream, which my other half let me sample. There were various little pastry dainties, and a fruit station by the big chocolate fountain! I do so adore a good chocolate fountain. Lovely stuff. The staff were very friendly, organised, and generally unobtrussive at this location. The servers each have a radio and earpiece, very much like some sort of military special ops team, and the floor manager directs them. I didn't have to walt long for drinks, and any questions I had were very quickly seen to on both occasions. As Glasgow buffets go, this was definitely one of the better ones. And if you have fussy eaters in your party, if they can't find something they like in here, despair! read more

Just don't go here - point blank - save your money go somewhere else. This has to be the most stale food I've ever eat in my life, don't confuse this with the hot flame world buffet in Uddingston which is great, this place is horrible, everything tastes the same and the overall quality of the meat, decor, dining experience was poor. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here. Seriously... save your money, I went once then left it a few months to see if they had made any improvements, the owners clearly don't care or they're not taking on the feedback. AVOID. read more

I've been here a couple of times and the average of my ratings is a 2. The recent visit was closing in on a 3. This surprised me because I really thought it was below par the first time. Luck of the draw I guess cos this time the food seemed fresher, warmer and tastier. The range of cuisines and the price brings the punters in, and as such on a good day you do get good value. read more

Food was tasty. Great selection. Noodles were not warm enough, however everything else we had was warm. Great value for money. Staff were on the ball clearing plates very quickly and with a smile also. The down side was that every single plate we and others lifted were dirty, had to clean plate before using. read more

Went there with workmates today and the food was horrible. Starters were cold and the main meals were poor. Actually was up during the night with a sore stomach and contemplated calling them the next day. I asked for a soda water and lime and it was very cheap cordial I got with water. It was sickening, so ordered a coke and that was worse, it must be the cheapest coke they could find as it tasted like calamine lotion. The place wasn't very clean looking either and could have done with a deep clean. Won't be returning and wouldn't recommend unless you have a strong stomach!! read more

One of the best buffets I have been too. There's plenty of a selection of different foods. The only downside is the staff stare at you while you eat and it puts you off a bit. read more
