I absolutely loved cosmo. i went for the first time tonight and the man at the front desk asked if it was our first time, we said yes and he was so friendly, he was super charismatic and showed us around the place. the food was amazing, nothing was cold, it was all fresh and tasted amazing. it was busy but really quiet and peaceful. i would give give it six stars if i could. shout out to Jonathan our 'tour guide' he was incredible read more

right well what to talk about first? let's start with the inconsiderate staff, I was eating my pizza and I went to get a drink of Coke Zero (with ice). I came back and discovered my plate was missing! where did it go? let's ask the staff who didn't ask if I was finished I then went to dig into my chicken curry and was astonished to find a pinkish colour inside of the chicken chunks, i was waiting 5 minutes! for a member of staff to come over. and when the manager finally arrived I was greeted by an aggressive middle aged woman. She told the food is pre-cooked and over time it will look a pinkish colour, I was thinking WHAT! Never heard that in my life! It all tasted a day old! never going back again!!! This is a world buffet, but it seems a bit more classier than the ones I've been to before. We'd gone on a Friday evening and had not realised how busy it would be. There was a huge queue and we waited roughly 20 minutes to be seated. The Asian dishes were my favourite. I thought they did authentic Chinese and Indian dishes. They also had crispy duck/pancakes/spring onions/cucumber and hoi sin sauce. There was a dim sum section with the barbecue pork buns, the prawn dumpling, the beef dumpling and a few others. Unfortunately the barbecue pork buns were a bit dry. They were probably steamed too long! There was a live cook station and you could choose the meat and it would be freshly prepared. I had the steak the first time and it was perfectly cooked and tender. The second time I got the scallops. They looked wonderful but they were awfully chewy and probably over cooked!! There was too much food on display and I never got round to the Mexican, Italian and British! I skipped ahead to the dessert and loaded my plate with lots of little choices. There's a huge chocolate fountain with sweets and marshmallows. I would go back if I'm shopping in Silverburn again. I would not wait in a queue again for it though!! read more

I didn't know that this Cosmo actually existed until a couple of weeks ago. So today when I was at Silverburn, I waltzed right in there thinking I would find it easily. I was wrong. I can't have been the only one to aimlessly wander around the foodcourt looking for the entrance to Cosmo only to realise that it is outside the centre and in an upstairs room. I didn't expect to actually get a table, knowing Cosmo and their booking policies but once the lift doors opened up into the bar, we were greeted immediately and shown to our table. This is the first time that we've been to Cosmo and got a table first try. In York we had to come back after 30 minutes and in Edinburgh we just left because of how long the line was. But not today. For my first plate, I had a selection of things, all of which were very good. For my second, I tried some sushi which I didn't really like that much. Not to mention that I am hopeless at using chopsticks. For my third, I tried the continental foods which were good. I had 3 desserts (naughty!) this included marshmallows dunked in chocolate, cream cakes, chocolate eclairs, ice cream castles, apple pies and mousse. I know, I'm naughty! And then I had a bottomless Pepsi to drink as well. I went to the toilets before I left which were clean and there was somebody in doing a check whenever I entered. The only thing that bothers me is that the hand dryers automatically switch off when the countdown gets to 0 so you have to wait a few seconds before they start again. My only complaint for this Cosmo is that there just isn't as much choice as the York restaurant. Not to mention that all of the live cooking stations were shut, which was a bit of a let down. But other than that, it was just a classic Cosmo experience and I recommend that you visit before the secret gets out of its existence. read more

The food is not what they post on their webpage (they have no lamb or sushi) and the food they do have is old, cold, and like it's been reheated. Silverburn Shopping Centre has had a really excellent extension and refurbishment at the Winter Garden area of the centre. What was once, a largely empty area is now packed full of amazing new restaurants that are not that common in West Scotland. Cosmo is one of these new restaurants, situated at the very end of the shopping centre with its entrance on the outside. Advertised as offering food from all over the world including Chinese, Japanese, South Africa, European, Italian and more, I decided to go here because it did a little bit of everything. I was a little disappointed when we were seated because it was then that I realised that this is a world buffet bar. I thought it was going to be something a bit more upmarket especially at Silverburn. The restaurant itself is really nice inside, very clean with well designed. The layout of the buffet takes a little getting used to but it's alright. I was disappointed with the food on offer. It was largely Chinese and Indian food and mostly chicken. I LOVE Japanese food and what they had on offer was poor. I tried a few different things and everything tasted nice if a bit plain. I wasn't really impressed with the staff, I found them to be quite slow and uninformative. We were seated, asked what we wanted to drink and left to it - no mention of price. I had to google it myself to see how much this was going to cost. Because it's a world buffet, everything is self service so I'm not sure why it took the girl over 10 minutes to bring us 3 glasses for us to go fill our drinks. They were also at times slow getting more food out. When we eventually got our bill, they had the cheek to put on the receipt 'service not included'. What service? It's self service! I was disappointed with Cosmo Silverburn, partly because it wasn't what I thought it was going to be and also because of the average service. Good for families due to it's low cost but with so many options at Silverburn, I'll definitely be going elsewhere next time. read more

Cosmos is a world buffet bar, sound enticing so far? Probably not, but in saying that it is one with a few differences. Firstly it feels a bit more high-end, better-appointed than most, with a darkened interior and comfortable booths. Secondly it's got more exotic dishes than the other world buffet places I've been in. Here's a quick roundup of the some of the cuisines: Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Singaporean, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Indian, Moroccan, Italian, Mexican, Caribbean, and of course British. And it's not just the cuisines that are different it's the range of preparation methods, you can choose from raw, grilled, skewered and steamed, as well as your simmered standard. This restaurant even has a chocolate fountain and live cooking stations, and that's not describing the produce, thankfully! I always stick in a central ridge of rice, that means I can have two saucy dishes in each plateful with the minimum of contamination! I started with Beef in Black Bean Sauce and the Moroccan Lamb. The Beef in Black Bean sauce I wish had the ginger component too, it still packed decent flavour though, but it was only lukewarm, the Moroccan Lamb was warmer. It came on the bone, but one was so smashed there were little pieces of bone I had to remove from my mouth manually. Not ideal but again quite tasty. My next two dishes were Thai Spicy Chicken Meatballs and Beef Dum Curry - dum refers to the cooking method apparently. The meatball sauce was a bit thin, but the meatballs were spicy, although not really moreish and therefore a bit too many in quantity. My fault for being greedy I guess! The beef curry was not bad at all, rich and soft with an easy spiciness. If you fancy a buffet, it's a good shout, and as buffet restaurants go this may well be my favourite one. read more

My bf is a huge cosmo fan so once a month i let him drag me here for dinner. I 100% reccomend booking a table online as this place gets very very busy and the queue can be really long. If you book in advance you dont need to stand in the queue although the glares you get from people in the queue can be a little bit intimidating! I have never had a bad meal here. I have always found the staff to be polite and professional even though they are rushed off their feet. The food i have found to be of a high quality and replaced really quickly. Unlike other buffet restaurants the food here tastes of a high quality and i love the variety on offer. I know its not everyones cup of tea but its ok once in a while. read more

First visit I found the service to be terrible and the food average Second visit I was just treated to more of the same Third was the last time I ever go They brought the wrong flavour kids drink eventually after 15mins of waiting, the soft drink glasses never did appear so had to go to the bar myself to request them Also asked 3 times for the bill which never arrived and finally on the fourth time and almost 20mins of waiting just to pay them I got it and took it back to the table The team walk around moody, uninterested and unapproachable They constantly pass the buck on responsibility if your request for something has gone unanswered ..... My boyfriend loves Cosmo which is odd, because he's the fussiest person I know when it comes to food so when he suggested we go, I had no idea what he actually planned to eat (seriously, he doesn't like much). But he was adamant that he loved it so...off we went to Cosmo! Having been in the Cosmo in Belfast, I was holding out much hope to be honest. Incase you don't know, it's buffet style and theyliterally offer EVERYTHING: Indian, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, British carvery and a grill that cooks burgers, meats etc as customers order them. Unlike the Belfast Cosmo, this branch is smaller and I actually think that works a lot better (more attention to detail). If you're ordering soft drinks they are refill machines too. Basically, you just help yourself! We were seated immediately in a booth (yay for booking ahead online) and our waiter was really friendly. He brought us glasses straight away (unlike the Belfast branch who bring your glass filled with your chosen soft drink to begin with but that doesn't matter really) and we got out drinks before heading to the buffet. Everything in the buffet was well laid out, labelled and there were plenty of staff members around, keeping an eye on the buffet and making sure nothing was running low (but not getting in the way or making you feel like you were being watched). I had some noodles with sweet and sour chicken. The noodles were a bit cold but the sweet and sour chicken was delicious! My boyfriend had some pancakes with duck and chicken with black bean sauce which he really enjoyed as he went up for seconds (he considered thirds but he was defeated). I then tried the sweet potato fries and they were seriously good. My boyfriend told me their pizzas were good and I tried a little bit, but there was too much cheese. Ah well, you'd be hard pushed to please us both, haha! There is a good range of desserts but nothing that really jumps out at you (although there is a chocolate fountain that the kids seem to enjoy). I had some grapes which were fresh and I liked the good range of fruit they had. They offer a lot of little mousses and cakes but nothing that looks that exciting. Overall, I'm pretty impressed and we had a nice dinner. If you've got a sweet tooth and are looking forward to a good dessert, I'd maybe consider ordering it elsewhere if you still have room! read more

Some co-workers raved about this place. On this recommendation we gave it a try. Nah. First off - loud, crowded, a bazillion unsupervised rugrats, over-the-top music, and mediocre food. This is a very ordinary buffet. Nothing sets it apart from any other. The food selection is ok, not great. A lot of the food seems to be pre-packaged and reheated. There are some grill to order foods. The pizza needed several more minutes in the oven. Some of the curries were ok, but not as good as the other Glasgow buffet. The dessert area is a breeding ground for germs. Tons of little kids without a parent. Sticking grubby paws in all the desserts. Adults were no worse with the chocolate fountain. Yikes. Hepatitis A anyone? Management need to keep an eye on these things because all it does take is an outbreak of Hep A or norovirus to shut the place down. I felt very disappointed for £15 a person. If you prefer quantity over quality, Cosmo is the place for you. However I would much rather a delicious high quality meal of a smaller quantity for my money. The place is absolutely huge and really nicely decorated. They offer a selection of Chinese, Indian, Sushi, a Hot plate with fresh Steak and Prawns, Soups, Dumplings, Barbeque, Italian, Salads and some specials. Only a selection of these is open at the lunchtime service. This is one of the 'better' buffets. Food is constantly being changed over by staff and the temperature being checked. You can see some of the food being made fresh by the chefs behind the stations but they do use a lot of canned sauces etc. My little one loves it because he can get endless chicken nuggets, pizza etc but I really don't rate it. I'd never go out my way to go here but one of the nicer places to try if u fancy a buffet selection. read more

This is our third visit to the restaurant. I can't say I love it, it's just acceptable. The service is nice most of the time except today the host was quite rude. She asked if we need a high chair as we have a baby with us then go to the table kind of slam the high chair and take away the original one. We were shocked cos she acted like she hated to see babies or something. Other staff were all fine, just not so attentive to take the used plates though. The food is just average, some dishes are not fresh like the corn soup, it must be heated up so many times to become the snot texture. The chicken nuggets looked like so overcooked that they're gonna explode lol. There's also something worth trying like the beef in black bean sauce and the king prawns with ginger. The best dish has to be the Singapore style chicken satay! A must try! The Italian cuisine here can be totally passed, very ordinary. My own favorite dessert here is the coconut pudding. Most people never try it. I also had their fruit and they were either from cans or just fresh cut. I suspect they soaked some fruit in the sugar water to make it taste nice as they were unreasonably wet and had a strange sweetness. Overall, it's a place worth trying, just don't expect too much and you will be happy. read more

I love this buffet restaurant and it is by far the best one in Glasgow for buffet-style food, variety, decor and service. I am writing for the evening selection as I'm told this is the best time to go as lunch is a bit of a half-hearted affair but woah, in the evening, the place is alive! Cosmo is the "Willy Wonka" of buffet places - bigger, grander, more, more, more and they have unlimited teppanyaki and Mexican grill to order. Drinks have free refills for those hardcore 'bru drinkers. You have the Asian section which includes Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Malaysian & Indian - that's chow mein, sushi, curry, dim sum, squid and naans - freshly made! Then there is the Mexican section with their delicious grilled meats, there's a European Section for your pizzas, pastas and roasts, a section of salads and finally, the dessert section filled with its colourful array of cakes, jellies, pastries, sweets, creams, puddings, ice cream, fruits and a chocolate fountain! Occasionally, if you're lucky they might have tong sui - a sweet liquid dessert popular in China, they make a good one! Although, like a unicorn, I only saw it once during my visits. What I also like about Cosmo is their military operation. Now I know you're probably asking, Who cares? Well, weirdos like me, really. In between mouthfuls of dim sum or coconut cream cubes (2 of my faves here!), I am amazed by the efficiency and communication of the staff - just as well as they need it here with their popularity! You sit down, then there is a server just pooft.. there, asking what you would like to drink and if you need help with navigating the buffet. A table leaves, you blink an eye and the table is magically cleared! They are the most efficient oompaloompas I've ever seen! Amazeballs. Cosmo falls short of 5 stars because I am a privileged son of a bumble bee and have been to this one jaw droppingly amazing buffet restaurant in a sky scraper in Hong Kong that is now forever shrouded in mystery in my feeble mind. If Cosmo started serving traditional Chinese soup or full french style cakes displayed on pedestals or have the biggest juiciest pineapple chunks for the chocolate fountain , or a full mountain of expertly cut and display sashimi of everything, then knock the fat kid over I bow down with 5 stars... If you want to do some serious eating, Cosmos is the place in Glasgow - go forth and enjoy! read more

I am not a big can of this place, had to go as it was a family get together over Xmas which another family member booked. I had been twice before and both to ilea said it would go back but gave it another chance the second time which wasn't a good idea. Nothing much had changed on the third visit, although it seemed like thy refreshed the food more. The first annoyance was they didn't have our group booking, we arrived 10mins early too and had to wait 15mins until the set up a table for us all. Even though they should have had out booking it was nice of them to fit us in as the Que was right out the door (as always). Another nice tough was someone popping over every now and again to check if you need anything else and to check if we had any issues. The place is constantly full to the brim, maybe it's just the weekend times that I have been but if you don't book be prepared to wait (standing) in a looooong que. They do have seats near the actual tills but you have a stairwell to get up first. I would advise to book in advance of you want to try it out. So on to the food options, you basically have everything you can imagine. Chinese, Indian, Italian, Japanese, British etc etc and a selection of deserts and chocolate fountain. read more
