My husband and I can't say enough good things about Controlled K9! We recently adopted a two year old German Shepherd who was well behaved in the house but a true terror to walk on leash (pulling and severe reactivity towards other dogs). Controlled K9 came to our home to evaluate her and recommended a four week board and train to work on basic obedience, leash manners, and off leash recall. We loved that she was taken in as a member of the family during her "boarding school," and they provided regular photos and updates on her progress throughout. She returned to us her same happy, sweet self in the house, but basically a new dog on leash! The Controlled K9 team trained us on how to continue her training, and remained super responsive to our follow up questions. It's incredible to see the transformation and we're so grateful to the Controlled K9 team for changing our lives - and Zoey's - for the better!

This is Koa placing. She learns so fast now.

This was just the experience I want for my dog. James is awesome. He's so attentive to what you need or want from your dog. My dog, Koa is a year old Belgian Malinois but unfortunately was not trained. She was rehomed to me. I desperately needed obedience training. James shared pictures and videos with me of the whole journey since I lived 3 1/2 hours away. I had no reservations about leaving her with him. I doubt she wanted to leave him to come home! This will probably not be the only training she will get from James. He's very open to this being a great experience for you and your dog. I highly recommend him for any training you need for your dog.

Controlled K9 We had an excellent experience with Kelly. She had our Australian shepherd, Blue, for 6 weeks and he came home to us with impeccable behavior. Kelly kept us updated on Blue's progress almost daily, and she sent us lots of videos and pictures. She treated Blue like a family member as he lived in her house with her personal dogs. It's obvious she loves him, and she wants him to be successful. She took him to stores, the mall, on hikes, off-leash pack hikes! I can't recommend Controlled K9 enough. Blue is happier and so are we! Thanks!

I am pleased to write this recommendation for Control K9 and specially for Isis who provided exceptional training services for Max, a mix German shepherd and Husky. She demonstrated remarkable expertise and professionalism throughout the training process and keeping us updated on the progress. Before the training, Max exhibited excessive barking at people and other dogs, and leash pulling. Max went for a certain time (boarding) to correct and get more confidence. After that, we got as his owners, a good training session our self from Maxs' trainer, ensured we were equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to reinforce the training at home, and now we are hiving Max 2.0, such a difference, Thank you. I wholeheartedly recommend Controlled K9 to any dog owner seeking professional training services. Their dedication and skill have made a profound difference in our lives, and I am confident they will continue to positively impact other dog owners.

Great training for young dogs! James and team were very professional and courteous. My dogs behavior has been much improved

James work ethic shows in his training methods. He sets you up for success for life with your dog. We had our GSD puppy do the 3 week board and train and do not regret anything. He explains all the training and why it is done. I couldnt recommend controlled K9 enough. Will def use him in the future for any other dogs we get. P.s.- if you're thinking about using those larger institutions that pump out off leash training...don't. James is the best

Controlled K9 completely changed our lives! Our 1 y/o rescue pup was protective and aggressive to people and dogs, and needed work on leash walking and general obedience. The trainers at Controlled K9 did such an amazing job with him - and he is happier and more relaxed now that he knows he doesn't have to protect the house!! The results from just 4 weeks are unbelievable, we were shocked and so relieved to have a calm, relaxed, happy pup. Seriously could not be happier with the amazing trainers at Controlled K9, and we are so grateful for their hard work!!! I cannot recommend them enough, even if you think your dog is beyond hope (we certainly did). THANK YOU Controlled K9!!!

The team at controlled K9 are fantastic. I was referred by a friend of mine and I was impressed from the initial consultation. Kenzie came over and spent a good amount of time evaluating my dog Tonka and addressing my concerns . I had previously worked with a purely positive trainer but I wasn't seeing results . Kenzie addressed my concerns and questions about balanced training and why it is effective . Tonka had mild aggression and a bite history . He was a bit "wild" and would constantly explore and find things to get into. Kenzie perfected his basic obedience and helped Tonka learn that it's okay to settle and relax . Training is an ongoing experience so he isn't a perfect angel but there is a noticeable difference. He has better recall and his loose leash walking skills are very good ! I can take Tonka places with me and trust that he is going to behave. My only suggestion is that I wish they had more of a social media presence to document some of the training on Instagram . I would love to have seen Instagram videos of the training in action (and to give them credit , my understanding is that this is in their future plans )

We talked to several dog trainers and James was by far the best. He came all the way out here with Kelly to do a consultation on our 6 month puppy named Moose. Moose was extremely excitable and would get overstimulated around other dogs or new people. We did a 3 week board and train and Moose came back as a new dog. He now understands the rules of our household and how to interact with guests or other dogs. We are able to take him out to dinner with us now! Pretty amazing transformation in 3 weeks!

We are so thrilled with the positive results from Controlled K9! Or two rescue pups had a number of behavioral issues like dog reactivity, lack of basic obedience, and getting into things they shouldn't while in the house. After four weeks with Controlled K9, our pups are almost unrecognizable--in the best possible way! No more stressful walks in the city worrying about run ins with other dogs. Before Controlled K9, we struggled to maintain control of our pups, especially when they inevitably lost their minds barking and lunging at other dogs. Now we feel confident going out into the world. Quality of life has significantly improved for us and our pups! James and his team of expert trainers made us feel comfortable and informed the entire time. From sharing video and photo updates to explaining the methodology behind his training, we felt confident our pups were in good hands. James and his team go above and beyond to ensure the training fits your needs and expectations and that your pups are taken care of while under his watch. He is quick to answer questions and extremely knowledgeable. We could not be more pleased!

I wish I had done this sooner- it would have saved me from a lot of stress and aggravation. Communication with Brandi was awesome. Pebbles (blue heeler, 1.5 years old) would never listen to me, would not sit or lay still, and had a lot of other obedience issues that caused her to be stressed or confused. She was a TOUGH dog to train and I was concerned I couldn't find the solution for her to get basic concepts. This view has completely changed since working with RSK9's 3 week program. I would HIGHLY recommend them and their methods - you can tell they genuinely love working with dogs and it's made a huge difference in giving my dog the chance to find real rest at home. They send DAILY updates with photos and videos which was so nice. This isn't a regular class or something you just pay for; it's truly an investment that you and your dog will be using for the time you get to share together. Side note: it's worth doing 3 weeks versus 2 weeks. At the 2 week mark is when Pebbles really started to understand her marks and cues. From here there is so much more that can be refined and Brandi/Perry really capitalize on that threshold being crossed!

Their approach was calm, clear, and incredibly effective -- they helped us understand why our dog was acting out and taught us how to respond in ways that built trust and confidence. One thing that really stood out was how thoughtful and hands-on they were -- they even brought two of their own well-balanced dogs to help with socialization. That made a huge difference in helping our pup feel more comfortable and learn from positive role models. We saw real results quickly and now feel so much more connected and in control. If you're facing behavioral challenges -- especially with a rescue -- Good Dog Workshop is the team you want in your corner. We're so grateful for their help in bringing out the best in our dog.

My dog was very serious and somewhat-aloof when I first adopted her; now she is a huge goofball who loves to snuggle and be best friends with anyone who comes in to the house. I have met with Marina twice, and plan on working with her again in the future. I highly recommend Good Dog Workshop-they know what they're doing!

After several emails and one phone call in which I expressed concerns regarding my…read moredog's issues making the timing of training a challenge, I was enthusiastically encouraged to "just come once" and "come to training once, if there are issues, you can get a refund." I took notes during the phone call, and recorded being told several times "refund ok." Went once, determined that this environment at this time would be unnecessarily stressful for the dog. Asked for the refund and was told "no refunds after you have attended one class." I communicated that I felt I had expressed my concerns clearly and was encouraged to 'attend "just one class" or I could have a refund.' I was then told I could have a credit towards other training, but no refund according to their policy, regardless of what I was told. I may have returned at another time, when my dog had completely recovered from his experience, but the refusal from them to entertain what I understood to be a verbally promised refund has soured my opinion of this company. I believe I was cajoled into attending the "one class" so that they could deny my request for a refund based on their policy. Warning: If you are told a refund is possible, you will not receive it if you attend a class. Their policy is buried on the website, they will verbally tell you a refund is possible, but will not honor that. The reason for my concerns: As a result of another dog attacking mine that same week, my dog had 5 staples from the wound, and exhibited a new response to other dogs. He previously enjoyed other dogs but now exhibited both fear & aggression.
