The quality of their work is excellent and they are just good people to work with (pleasant, easy-going and honest). We just learned one more thing about them - they stand behind their work. We had a problem come up years after the installation. It was not related to the tile they installed, but they agreed that they were likely responsible and stepped up to make it right even though it was years later. We have used Contract Carpet several times over the years for carpet and hardwood floors and would not go anywhere else! They are absolutely professional at all steps of the process. This past month we installed hardwood in a bedroom and replaced the carpet on our stairs with hardwood to match the rest of the downstairs they installed a few years ago (which by the way has held up beautifully). Nick came out quickly to give us a very fair estimate. We had the good fortune of having Beto and Joey work with on the install. They are true craftsmen and their attention to detail is amazing! The only carpet store to go, in my opinion! I have used this company to install a runner on my stairs and new carpet throughout my home. One carpet needed to be stretched after about a year and they came and stretched it within a week and it looks amazing. Their selection is great, too. Marty Dixon and the entire staff are amazing! They installed 500 square feet of vinyl plank in my house and it looks awesome. They were so great about working around my remodel schedule. Mikey did the installation and everyday I came home it was clean. I had bought felt pads to put under the furniture, but when he moved everything back in, he put felt pads on before I even had a chance to. They are a local business and great people. Definitely quality family owned business that operates under the verbal code of ethics. We had them come again (first time in 2010 was for all new carpeting with a change in mind of padding when already installed) to install carpet as a runner for our stairs since we are a family plus a little one now. The process from start to finish with the estimate, installation, then payment was hassle free and trustworthy. The installers were detail orientated in making sure that they installed the carpet on the stairs exactly how I wanted it. They will let you take home the floor samples to study at your home to determine what will work out for you. Our original carpet was discontinued, and the business was great at researching for us what carpet would match for the stairs and drop off the sample to our home. The simple concept of "guarantee on their labor" for their installation is very comforting, knowing that if the carpet on the stairs loosen, they will come back to redo it without charging. If you don't want to feel like you're being nickeled and dime for everything little thing, and keeping things simple then this is the business worth checking out. read more

5 stars is just not enough, honestly. Anyone who has been thru a remodel or is in the process of planning on knows there are many moving parts and many decisions to make. There are contingencies, changes, additions, and on and on and on. If you read the reviews here you'll see a recurring theme...locally owned, customer service, etc. If you don't put much stock in that, I encourage you to stop by and talk to these folks. In a world where "everything must go... today only...free installation...free pad" is in your face all the time, and when you go to a big showroom you'll be greeted by someone who has never changed the floors in their apartment...Contract Carpet is in it's own class. The showroom isn't large, but it's packed with high quality choices. The people that work there have been doing this their whole lives...all in Encinitas and the surrounding areas. They've seen these products used in homes around here, and Marty has literally been on every single job. He CARES! Imagine that. When we decided to remodel the floors, Marty came to the house no less that 6 times. Changing our minds, going from wood to tile to wood again, adding and deleting rooms, carpet, etc...The project takes a life of its own. There is no pressure from these guys. They give you the space to decide. They let your project breathe and take on its own life, almost. And trust me..these guys start to understand what you want better than you do, and they will intervene if you start becoming counter-productive. If there is an issue midstream or months after install, they come right out and fix it. I have worked with many of their installers...carpet, custom stain, wood, tile, and they are all detail oriented and amazing. They are prompt, polite, and they care for your home better that you do, knowing full well that you sometimes have to live there while the project is happening. About 5 years ago we needed new carpeting - about 1000 square feet of it in fact, because our young children had completely trashed the carpet. The kids were still young though, and with lots of future carpet trashing to be expected, we wanted something much sturdier and stain resistant this time. Bids from Home Depot, Empire, etc. were just ridiculous, and the quality of the carpet was suspect. A friend recommended Contract Carpet. They zeroed in on EXACTLY what we needed immediately -- and having raised boys themselves (they are a small, family owned business), they know what children can do to carpeting (no details necessary, if you have kids you know). The price was incredible compared to the others. Our carpet was in stock and was installed within days. That was almost five years ago. Today the carpet still looks brand new despite muddy shoes, magic markers, sick kids, dog, red gatorade spills, etc. I just thought about them today when a friend asked where we got our carpet, and decided they needed to be yelped. I read lots of reviews where someone raves about a service or a product that they've had for a few weeks or months...but it's the test of time that is really important. These people are fantastic! From Carol, Gayle and Nick who I spoke with in the shop, to the owner, Marty, who came out to measure my home, himself to Jorge and Enrique who put down the carpet. Couldn't have asked for nicer more knowledgeable people. I went into the shop many times asking questions and taking home samples before I decided which carpet I wanted and then didn't order it until a couple months later. Despite the lapses between visits and ordering, they remembered who I was ( not my name precisely but remembered that I was a customer and was painting and revamping my home) and even had my written estimate easily accessible on the counter. They kept the faith that I was going to place an order. Nice! We scheduled for a 2 day job and Jorge and Enrique worked so efficiently, they finished in a day and a half. My house has a set of stairs, half of which are wrapped steps and they did an excellent job. I haven't had carpet replaced since I moved into my home 25 years ago. The choice to give our flooring business to Contract Carpet was in large part due to the owners successfully playing the long game with their marketing. The house we bought had carpet in horrible condition - the result of being a rental for 10 years with little to no care by the landlords. Before we moved in, we knew we had to get carpet. Like always, I went to Yelp first to see what my Encinitas options were. Near the top of the list, I saw Contract Carpet with their nearly perfect rating. But there was something about the name in my head. OH YEAH! They sponsored my youth soccer team sometime in the mid to late 80s! I figured, this is a good chance to pay them back for their generosity. And it doesn't hurt that their reviews are top notch. Marty came to our house, took measurements, and drew an incredibly precise floorplan on graph paper for the estimate he sent us later that day. Prices were on par with the other quotes we received, but the quality of the carpet at Contract Carpet was much higher. The process of getting the install scheduled was easy and quick, even given the very few possible dates we had to have it done. Installation was done in a day, and the crew was quick, professional and complete. One advantage of going through a small carpet store like Contract instead of Home Depot is that if anything goes wrong or there are issues, you just call Marty and he'll make sure it gets fixed. All in all, I'm happy to give back to a company that supports the community. And in the end, I'm incredibly happy with the product we bought and the related services. A win win for everyone. I agree with another post, 5 stars just isn't enough for this family run business. We walked into the Encinitas store after seeing that Teragren listed Contract Carpet as a Preferred Retailer and reading the Yelp Reviews. We initially met Marty, whom we liked instantly; loved his humor and no nonsense demeanor. Marty connected us with his son Josh to help us with our project. It took us months to finally come to a decision; especially since we were incorporating total bathroom remodels into the decision process. Not only were we not pressured, but Josh had the utmost patience as we were going through the decision process. We did have one challenge during the project, and have to admit that it really wasn't all that big of a deal because we were working with Contract Carpet. I've heard all sorts of horror stories from friends who've worked with other contractors and how difficult it is to get something addressed. Our challenge was never an issue, because we always had the confidence that no matter what happened, challenges would be addressed quickly and fairly. It's now been 7 months since the completion of the project and we love the work that was done. We purchased beautiful Masland carpet a few years ago, then unfortunately had a bad sewage flood in early 2017 that required replacing the carpet and a few hundred square feet of hardwood flooring. I recently decided to get new carpet for my home and I chose Contract Carpet because their Yelp reviews were so positive, plus I wanted to support a local family owned company with my business. I'm so glad that I did because they truly are the real deal. Everyone was down to earth, informative and never pushy to make a quick sale. Susie and Carol showed me the vast selection of carpet on my first visit and later Marty patiently waited on me when I returned to browse again. The carpet is of excellent quality and I found exactly what I wanted at a very fair price. The installation was done in one day and Marty made sure that all of my needs were addressed. He came at the beginning and at the end of the day and even fixed a latch on my desk, a squeak on my bedframe, and reinforced my filing cabinets to sit straight.
