Subterranean Termites, kinda like long ants...
Joey M.

"Jerry's got nothing. Newman's got nothing. You're the only one I know who's got the good stuff, and I need it bad, baby, cause I feel like I got bugs crawling up my skin. Now you gotta help me out." -Cosmo Kramer, Seinfeld Da Scene: Like many recent reviewers, we were kinda freaked out by the appearance of some little black bugs (kinda like long ants) in a couple of areas INSIDE the house after the 1st rains of the season. In our case it was compounded by the fact that they appeared to be coming in through the ATTIC and dropping down; not coming up through the crawl space under the house. I found maybe a total of 20 of the little guys in 3 spots (kitchen counter under the range vent, guest bathroom under the skylight, and disturbingly; master bedroom under some recessed lighting, right on my pillow - Aaaaaaah!??!). After 20+ years in our home, it's the 1st occurrence so we were pretty concerned. After internet searches, image comparisons we determined subterranean termites and wanted them "taken care of". Da Work: Opened a YELP! Project and jobbed a quote out to several outfits with descriptions and images, wasn't happy with the 1st round of responses, did some more searching and added a few more manually. Contra Costa Termite Control's initial response stood out from the crowd. 1. Jen 1st took the time to explain the background of why this was happening (detailed in many other reviews, so I'll leave that out here) and to reassure us that we in the highest probability did NOT have an infestation; we would likely not see any more activity. She went on to suggest a wait and see approach before scheduling an unnecessary inspection. 2. For piece of mind, I insisted that I'd like them to come out anyway to confirm her suspicions, it had been since we bought the house when we had the last inspection, so I thought why not? 3. Joe came out and checked the crawl space only, explaining the odd source coming from the attic as during the initial "swarm" happening outside, a few of the little guys flew in through the attic vents and "went towards the light". He did find some other non-related/not urgent issues under our bathroom areas which we'll take care of in the spring. Quick & easy... parcheesy. Da Service: Can't sing their praises high enough. From start to finish this outfit is customer-focused, thoughtful and knowledgeable. They shared information freely and never pushed for services or action, only providing options. This can't be said of some of the other contractors who contacted us on the project... MANY were quick to push treatment options right off the bat. Great communications via YELP! then txt/sms, email invoicing and payment options like check, debit/credit card, Zelle or Venmo. Just a CLASS OPERATION all around - thanks for the help and use me as a reference anytime!

Before: damaged door jamb

Contra Costa Termite was amazing to work with. After we purchased a new home, we asked Contra Costa Termite for a competitive bid on work recommended by a previous termite inspection from the sellers. They promptly provided a highly competitive pricing, and we are so glad that we decided to work with them! Jen was amazingly responsive and informative, and responded quickly to all changes we wanted to make to the work items. Mike spent 2 days performing service on the damaged wood in our home, and went above and beyond to even find matching paint and paint the replacement pieces! The difference was night and day (before and after photo attached for one of our damaged door frames). Josh also did a fast and thorough treatment for subterranean termites. The process as a whole was smooth and we would absolutely recommend Contra Costa Termite Control.

Okay, I don't want to speak too soon, but I just had a rat slab installation done today and so far…read moreI'm very impressed. Background: 9 months ago we discovered rats had infiltrated the ducts in our crawl space. Ultimately we found they were tunneling under our shallow foundation, relentlessly. We'd fill and they'd create new tunnels the next day. We hired a crap company that charged us insane amounts of money only for them to come out armed with mass amounts of foam and call it a day. The exterior of our home was comical. Yellow foam everywhere. The rats kept tunneling. With rainy season approaching again, we decided to look into a more "final" option. We got a few quotes, and all were pretty comparable. However, I really liked our inspector Mike; he spent a lot of time here and was patient, answered all my questions, very amiable. He gave an overview of what would happen the day of the slab work should we choose to hire them, and I'm so pleasantly surprised that the schedule today went exactly as he said. Brandon (the owner) called a couple of days later to check in and I was able to get any further questions answered. We decided to move forward with the installation (scheduled for today). The crew was scheduled to arrive between 8-10am, and they did! A few arrived around 7:45 and started right away, and more and more workers showed up; each with different roles. It's truly a well-oiled machine; it's obvious they do this day in and day out. Night and day compared to the company we had previously hired. The morning started with clearing out the foam and crap work from the other company, cleaning debris and rodent-ridden insulation, vacuuming, prepping the crawl space with a vapor barrier. Throughout the whole day there were crew members walking all around the house and on top of the roof with buckets of concrete and mesh, filling holes, securing vents. The concrete truck arrived right on time and several of the workers suited up and spread concrete around for probably close to an hour. Afterward, everything was hosed down and my house looks better now than it did when they got here. Fingers crossed this does the trick, but the best part is it comes with a 7 year warranty (this was the longest any company I talked to had). It seems like they're able to offer this because they do such a thorough job. I hope I don't eat my words, but they've truly left such a good impression so I don't believe I will, and also, nobody even asked me to write this review! Pictures attached.

The guy who came out was on time, a bit eccentric and very passionate about rats. He was detail oriented and did a great job explaining the job and its breakdown. Unfortunately on the day of the job, we had 4 guys come to our home on time- but none of them spoke English. Now, I appreciate them coming out, but we just could not communicate and they did not have work trucks or shirts with their company name. An hour later, we had a younger guy show up and he spoke English. The crew worked really fast, did a nasty job of removing our rodent infested insulation and put in new insulation, they mixed concrete and patched up some holes as well and put out rat traps. They came back twice to check the traps and removed them. I think they did a good job, appreciate their punctuality. But management should always send someone who speaks some English and provide a company truck or at least shirts. I personally felt uncomfortable letting into my home a group of random men with no identification.

Chris went everywhere, and found tunneling under the crawlspace which meant I needed a rat slab in addition to the normal vent repair, roof gap sealing, etc. That's a major expense, but the estimate was reasonable based on conversations with neighbors who've had the same work done by other companies, and they were able to start in a few days. There wasn't any sales pressure, and it got on the schedule right away once I responded. The automated text updates throughout the process were nice. The crew for the job (Josh, Francisco, Clemente, and a bunch of other guys whose names I didn't catch) was great: - All friendly and professional - Super clean - Thorough and detail-oriented, didn't appear to have even considered cutting corners That's not a fun way to spend that kind of money, but I have no buyer's remorse at all and am convinced I got a high-quality job that increased the value of my house.

They chewed on our crawl space ducts to the point that the insulation was seeping through the vents. Our first inspection was by Sam and was pleased on how he explained the issues we were having and confirmed that we had rodents. He inspected our attics and sent another crew to check the crawl space and confirmed we also had tunneling. After sending us an estimate of the costs, we decided to check with another provider to get a competitive pricing. After reviewing we decided to go with Honest Rodent Proofing, they were clear and detailed in their statement of work and very approachable to discuss our issues. On the service day, unfortunately we had an issue where the estimate was incorrect and they missed the correct sq ft of the house. Sam was able to provide a discount and we were happy to proceed. The crew is a great team, and wanted to thank Fernando, Mario, Josh and others I didn't get their names. They were able to explain what they were doing and why. They cleared all the old insulation in the attic and replaced with new ones. They added traps which luckily caught one of the chaps the next day. They also added additional traps and will be checking in the next coming weeks. We value their service and have recommended them to our Neighbours too.

I received a flat rate price estimate shortly after starting a Yelp project on July 5th from this company. They were quick to respond and gave a price that was reasonable compared to others that responded and offered to come out next day. Dennis came the next day and communicated well prior to his arrival. Dennis explained what he would do well. Dennis made quick work of that wasp nest and knocked it off my roof eave before taking it away. All in all, I'd say he was here for no longer than 20 minutes. He recommended servicing our residence as well as the eaves to further prevent wasps from returning and to prevent other pests from visiting, but was not pushy about the service. I would recommend this company to others.

I called a few places and had some folks come out to scope the issue, but none of them could offer a solid plan to treat the wasps effectively since it was on the 2nd floor and above my porch roof so hard to get to and providers wouldn't allow workers on the roof. I spoke to Daniel and he suggested that the nest might be inside the attic and to have effective treatment, you need to get at the source. Pest Protection Services was willing to get into the attic and treat the nest or potentially access the outside and spray a solution directly into the attic vents from the exterior. Justin came by the next day, went into the attic and sprayed where the nest was. It pretty much killed all the wasps and issue went away. The one-time pricing was competitive, particularly for the job needed, and I am going to switch to PPS for my recurring service. A bit cheaper than a larger provider I've had for past 4+ years. PPS is responsive, helpful, friendly, attentive to the details and got the job done. Highly recommend!

The skunk was spraying so frequently that the odor had become overwhelming and was actually making its way into my bedroom. Living in the hills, wildlife is simply part of life. Most of the time it's one of the perks of living here. Unfortunately, this particular wildlife situation had become unbearable, so I called in the professionals. OR, what I thought were the professionals... I should have just called a Doberman. I will start by saying that the technicians themselves were professional. Unfortunately, the actual service was a complete failure and complete waste of money. They came out, set a trap, filled it with cat food, covered it with a bag, and instructed me to check it every morning. The problem with that approach is obvious: if the trap actually contained a skunk, the only way to find out was to walk right up to it and look inside. Nothing says "professional wildlife management" quite like asking the homeowner to potentially get skunked. Over the course of the next week, I was repeatedly assured that the bait being used was specifically designed to attract skunks and that possums supposedly weren't interested in it. Yet somehow, the trap managed to catch three possums and exactly zero skunks. ZERO SKUNKS! The skunk that was actually causing the problem remained comfortably under my house, probably laughing at them and apparently completely unimpressed by their "specialized" bait. Meanwhile, the charges kept appearing on my credit card. By the end of this adventure, I was out roughly $700 and left with the exact same problem I started with. Three possums had been trapped and removed--none of which were bothering me in the first place--I honestly feel bad for these poor possums, what did they do with them when they took them away? While the skunk continued living its best life beneath my home. Three possums later, I'm convinced the trap's only qualification was "contains animal." I'm honestly surprised they didn't catch my own cat, a squirrel, and the neighbor's golden retriever while they were at it. The skunk, meanwhile, continues to live its best life under my house while I funded this expensive wildlife exchange program. Thank you All-in-One. If your goal is to spend hundreds of dollars catching harmless possums, this company may be for you. If your goal is to solve a skunk problem, All N One Pest Eliminators are a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!

However his technician came out, inspected the crawl space ONLY and quoted us 9K to rodent proof, not including Insulation and clean up. He also indicated that rodents were nesting in the crawl space and we had an infestation. My home is 2100 sq ft. Also I reached out to this company as I THOUGHT we had used their services when we initially bought the house in 2020. Our home was rodent proofed, insulation replaced and cleaned under the house and all areas sealed for $1500. Attic Green's technician was very complimentary of our home which we appreciated. However, I believe his quote was indicative of thinking we had 9K to blow on a service we already had and was familiar with. I then contacted Uriel and we discussed the quote. We had a great conversation and understood they didn't do the initial work, although I had a quote of $1700 in 2020. I reached out to the initial contractor and was quoted $2000. He indicated no infestation, no insulation needed to be replaced and he took a picture of where the open spaces were where rodents were coming in which was on top of our garage, not the crawl space. To those reading this review make sure you request multiple estimates before going with this company. This was an opportunity to gouge a customer and I was extremely offended by their quote.
