She was knowledgeable and awesome. But when a different person at the auto park was running my credit, he looked at me and asked, 'Do you *really* own your own business?' If I was a 45 year old man I doubt he would have felt the need to check. But I'm a young woman so I guess he thought it worth looking into whether or not I was being fully honest. So that annoyed me a lot. My age and gender shouldn't have to give that impression. When signing and doing warrantee stuff, the financial guy there was fantastic and patient. The person who ran my credit was not this guy in the side office, he was fabulous. All round good experience, and I think the sexism would be an easy fix by educating that one guy on what is appropriate.

According to the service recommendations, the rear brakes and rotors needed replacement, along with a full wheel alignment. These repairs corresponded precisely with the issues I identified during the initial test drive. However, when I subsequently brought the vehicle to Wallingford Auto Park for service, I encountered unprofessional behavior from the service manager. He refused to authorize brake or rotor replacement, suggesting that both the dealership and I were attempting to obtain a free brake job. Furthermore, he indicated that the dealership would only cover the wheel alignment costs. This response was both surprising and unacceptable, and it has caused me to question the integrity of the service process. Regrettably, I must also report experiencing discriminatory treatment, notably from the salesperson Phil, which has added to the distressing nature of this transaction. Given these circumstances, I felt compelled to cover the $740 cost of necessary brake repairs personally, as I prioritize the safety of myself and my family above all else. I was driving at night, got off exit at 2am and had to sleep in my van in 0 degree temperatures. Chris invited me to come to his shop and let me jump to the front of the line on his very busy day. I was in by 8:10 am. He got my van diagnosed, parts delivered and I was back on the road after lunchtime. I am so grateful to him to help me get back on the road. I am a dog/house sitter and I was expected in Annapolis that night. The homeowner had already left the country for a trip. Chris and his team were not only professional but generous in their efforts to help me. I was told where I could get lunch and I was able to sit in his waiting area for hours, have bathroom access and even had a fireplace turned on because I was cold. The morning of the appointment (that's today!) I decided to text that same number to confirm that the vehicle was still there, as the drive to this dealership is almost 2 hours from my home. They responded & told me that the vehicle was sold, but I should take a look at their other options & let them know which I was interested in so they could have them ready for my appointment. I never showed any interest in their other vehicles. I was very clear that there was one single car I wanted to see, & so that's the car I made an appointment to see. They sold the car & were never going to tell me. They were going to let me drive 2 hours one way to find out the car was gone. That's a really dodgy business practice. The car had been in a…read moreflood, voiding the warranty, but (as Mike explained) Imports Unlimited only sells flood cars that are in excellent condition where the engine does not get flooded. If there are any flood related issues with the car (apparently rare, but sometimes the power seating will have problems if the flood reaches that level) Imports Unlimited will repair for the life of the car. Mike was great at explaining all of the pros and cons of purchasing a flood car, and Amy was very helpful in explaining all of the paperwork necessary. One small snag - because the car was in a flood, I wasn't able to get a title for it at the DMV closest to my home... I had to drive to a different DMV. So, basically these cars are 30% cheaper than what you'd normally buy. Of course, if you later sell the car you'll also need to discount by around 30%.

That is no longer the case as I recently discovered. Yesterday (Feb, 2024) at Star Auto it cost me $39.99 for a regular oil change. Today (July, 2024) I went to Pep Boys and it cost $35.99. Tomorrow if you go to Star Auto expect to pay $82 plus taxes and fees per a sign posted in their service department. Yesterday (Sept, 2023) the cost of tire rotation at Star Auto was $19. Today I had my tires rotated at Star Auto at a cost of $32.55. Tomorrow I will be heading to Pep Boys where there is no charge. Yesterday (Sept 2023) my wife had a synthetic oil change at Star Auto for $89.95. Today (July, 2024) my wife had a synthetic oil change for $78.68 including taxes at Pep Boys. Tomorrow if you go for a synthetic oil change at Star Auto expect to pay $115 plus taxes per a sign posted in the service department.
