    Chicken piccata & tenderloin "noisettes"

My husband and I are from the states and we ate here in for our anniversary in 2023. Loved it (& the city so much), we came back this year for our anniversary again. Absolutely nothing has changed! The food is some of the best I've ever eaten & the drinks are to die for! The Le Porier & Espresso Martini are the best you'll find anywhere. I literally cannot wait to come back here!

Interesting that Conti had 3.5 stars. We were wanting to try another restaurant and waited 30 minutes in line and it looked like another 30 minutes more so we bailed. It's Sunday afternoon about 1.30pm in Old Quebec. We ventured down the street and found Conti. Looked at the menu, good. Checked the tables, only half full. Nice white table clothes and glassware. Ordered a bloody Mary while we perused the menu. Decided to start with the asparagus soup and my wife had the Cesar salad. Very unique salad with lots of crumbly bacon. The soup was good and warming on a 48 degree day. For our main we went with the salmon that comes with saffron rice, diced carrots in a sauce (wished they were whole) asparagus (on the Petite side) . We split this entree and it was plenty for two...good size portions. Staff was nice and attentive. However, like most restaurants they're slow to bring the check. The food was delicious and I'd come and dine here again.

Came here on my first night in Quebec City without a reservation. The restaurant is charming. The service was excellent. We were immediately seated. Within 10 minutes of ordering, we received our appetizers. Everything tasted delicious. My favorite was the Parmesan croquet and asparagus soup. The Caesar salad was also incredible. The veal piccata was excellent as was the filet mignon. Desserts were amazing. Not sure how parking is. We parked at our hotel and walked over. It's located in the heart of Quebec City.

In a snapshot, the ambience is good, the service is poor, the food is average and the prices are too high for the quality of food and experience provided ... especially by local standards. We had been in the city for most of the day and were looking for dinner options that would be a nice way to cap off our visit. There are many restaurants to choose from in the area. Most are quite pricey and did not blow us away with their menu offerings. A review of this establishment's posted menu drew us in because it seemed like a good blend of options and value. Once we stepped in we asked for a table for two. At this point the restaurant was fairly empty but they seemed to make a "show" of it to see if they could accommodate us. Duh ... there were obviously lots of open tables. Naturally, a table was provided after the hostess went and checked with someone else. Felt a bit like we were visiting a used car lot. Eventually (not quickly) a server came around to see what we'd like. Water was not instantly provided so we had to ask for it. That took a while since the staff were all busy entertaining each other rather than attending to the customers. Prospective patrons often waited at the door for someone to finally make their way over. When our meals arrived they were very presentable and tasted quite good. We had to ask for water refills several times because, as before, the staff were more interested in socializing than caring for customers. I could see other patrons were equally frustrated. Would I go here again. No! I believe there are better options nearby, but since this was our only visit, I will never know. It left a bit of a sour taste on our enjoyment of the city, so if you're reading this review, I hope you have better luck.

We were seated on the patio and our very sweet server was right out to take our drink order. Since we are eating Poutine all over Canada in search of our favorite. We so enjoyed sitting on the patio, it was a beautiful day, we were people watching and enjoying the umbrellas place up the alley. Our poutine was delivered to the table and I can honestly say it was our favorite. The fries were crunch and creamy on the inside. The gravy was rich and had a deep flavor and the cheese curds had lightly melted. Every bite was perfect. The eatery and bar are tucked into a stone house that dates back to 1668, if only the walls could talk. The bar and restaurant feature local Quebec cuisine and is a gem. The service was excellent as was the atmosphere.

Then we shared an original poutine and it also was delicious- best I had on our trip thus far! I ordered mussels for my meal and a steaming pot arrived and they were yummy. Ambiance and service were great. They accommodated our awful French attempts. Drinks were large. Honestly, I feel lucky to have dined here. Everything was wonderful!

I wasn't too hungry so I ordered an app for my entree, the bruschetta. It came loaded with seasoned tomato pieces. Hubby ordered the pasta with clams in a spicy sauce. There was a misunderstanding with his meal. When hubby asked questions about the carbonara, our server thought he ordered the carbonara when he actually decided on the pasta with clams. When the wrong meal was brought over, our server escalated to his manager who then offered to exchange his meal. They kept apologizing for the mixup but honestly, they already handled it well by replacing it without issues. The pasta dish was so good! I scooped the extra sauce with my crostini and really enjoyed it. The clams were meaty and fresh too. Daughter ordered the pasta with meat sauce- also very good. We arrived on time and waited maybe 5 minutes before being seated. All the outdoor tables were full so the two of us sat at a low 4-top inside not far from the kitchen. Water was brought right away. Our server then took our drink, appetizer and entree orders. We each had a pint of Stella beer on draft and we shared an order of their Focaccia bread, served with butter and a dish of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The beer was cold and because it was draft, not from a green bottle, no skunk smell or taste :) The Focaccia bread isn't what we make in the States, but it was find. More of a soft, yet dense bread, topped with herbs. For $3 CAN, it was a deal. Later on, the Casesar salad was brought out. It was a generous portion and was plenty for the two of us to split. The dressing was tasty as was the shaved Parmesan cheese and the house made croutons. Later, our Cannelloni entree came. It was in an oval dish that had been baked. The full order came with 2 Cannellonis. Here again, plenty for two people to share. It was stuffed with a meat and cheese mixture. We were too full to be tempted by their dessert menu. Our friends arrive from the US in a couple of days, so we've made another reservation here at Portofino for the four of us. The only downside to Portofino was that it is popular and busy, so it was a bit loud inside.

So we kept getting bumped by the servers. The waitresses were very nice however they were a little sloppy when pouring water into our classes, there were many times that I had to clean the table with a napkin because water got all over the table, so that was wasted napkins... The food wasn't too bad, I'm not gonna lie. I have to say, I've had a bit better. The desserts were amazing though. The bathrooms weren't as cleanly, I mean, the floors could've used a bit of a cleaning and as a germaphobe, it didn't sit well with me. Overall, would I come here again? I'm not too sure because I live far away lol but it was decent enough.
