Amazing place for a date night! Upscale, everything was cooked well and delicious. Servers happy to assist us in English as well. Amazing dinner, nothing felt overly heavy either, just reallly well done.

Food Review: Il Teatro Ristorante at Le Capitole Hotel, Quebec City @ristorante.ilteatro For starters, we had the Burrata appetizer --Fresh pasta filata cheese, blackberries, cherry tomatoes, fig balsamic, mint, basil, and pine nuts. The combo of blackberries and tomatoes was interesting! I really enjoyed it, though I wished they stuck with one or the other. Also, I hoped for the burrata to have a bit more of that oozy goodness, if you know what I mean? 7/10. For our mains: Capesante (Scallops) : These roasted U10 scallops with Brussels sprout leaves, saffron and lemon aioli, lobster emulsion, and mujol caviar were mind-blowing! That one bite with the caviar and sauce took me to a different universe . 10/10, easily. Burrata e Coppa Pizza : Tomato sauce, burrata, coppa, arugula, and balsamic reduction. This pizza was fantastic if you're after something more exciting than the usual cheese pie. I just wished for a bit more ooze from the burrata! 9/10. Picatta di Vitello (Veal) : Stacked veal filet scallopini au gratin with fontina, tomato compote, meat glaze, fried sage, market vegetables, and potato pave. A well-executed dish all around, loved the fried sage! Another solid 9/10. The restaurant has a moody, intimate ambiance, perfect for a date night. Just keep in mind, you'll be paying a bit extra for the experience. Food: 9/10 (Don't miss the scallops, trust me!) Ambiance: 8/10 Affordability: 4/10 (pricey but worth it!).

The food was very good and the wine was even better! Our server was attentive and the decor was very festive. Would highly recommend if you're in the area!!

This restaurant is in the Le capitole Hotel. We arrived around 9 pm and stopped by for a glass of wine and pizza. The service was great and the restaurant's decor is stunning. The wine great and the sausage pizza was just what we wanted. We had deconstructed cannoli for dessert.

We discovered Il Teatro while walking around town. They had the best holiday decorations around and my partner was just in aw and mentioned he would like to eat there, "a place that goes out like that for decorations is worth a visit for the inside." Well it was our 2 year anniversary so a special meal. So; going into this review it was then evening of Jan 1 so the entire staff must have been tired to serve after new years celebrations. For that. Thank You! The entire experience was top notch. The staff was so nice and quickly brought us to our table. Wow. What a beautiful space. The staff were the best and provided the best service. So worth the visit. Yeah, a bit on the pricey side; but worth it. The menu offered plenty of options for any dietary restrictions and food preferences. We had the perfect evening and celebrated our 2nd anniversary. The atmosphere; the staff, and the food. Perfect. My partner had the salmon and had the cod and both were prepared and presented brilliantly. The taste was beyond words. Thank you again for a perfect evening and I hope to be able to get back up to Quebec and explore the menu again.

Service: 5* Prices: 3* Ambience: 5* (sit outside) Taste: 4* Celebrating a birthday here for the first time. We ordered carbonara (2*), linguine con fruiti di mare (5*), risotto con fungi (5*), and bolognese (4*). The carbonara was a complete miss, no flavor, not creamy and sheer disappointment. The fruiti di mare was delicious, full of flavor and seafood. The risotto was fantastic, al onda as the Italian's would say. Done perfectly. Asked for Calabrian chiles and they were fantastic. Desserts were okay. Nothing special. I would return.

a plate of pasta with meat and vegetables

We ordered Insalata cesare, Crudo Di Tonno(thinly sliced tuna) and their significant dish Linguine Grancio (fresh home made linguine). All of them taste wonderful, full of flavor. Strongly recommend.

This place is next to a theater, we sat indoors because It was raining but on a good day, sitting outside is really nice The menu is a bit expensive, the environment feels more business/semi formal or maybe more like a date night, they have a lot of wine choices The spaghetti was pretty good, I really liked the meatballs The asparagus salad was pretty meh Caviar was ok, I'm usually not really into food that's expensive for the sake that it's rare or hard to get, but it's an experience

The restaurant is in the Capital Theater building.

We so enjoyed sitting on the patio, it was a beautiful day, we were people watching and enjoying the umbrellas place up the alley. Our poutine was delivered to the table and I can honestly say it was our favorite. The fries were crunch and creamy on the inside. The gravy was rich and had a deep flavor and the cheese curds had lightly melted. Every bite was perfect. The eatery and bar are tucked into a stone house that dates back to 1668, if only the walls could talk. The bar and restaurant feature local Quebec cuisine and is a gem. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered an app for my entree, the bruschetta. It came loaded with seasoned tomato pieces. Hubby ordered the pasta with clams in a spicy sauce. There was a misunderstanding with his meal. When hubby asked questions about the carbonara, our server thought he ordered the carbonara when he actually decided on the pasta with clams. When the wrong meal was brought over, our server escalated to his manager who then offered to exchange his meal. They kept apologizing for the mixup but honestly, they already handled it well by replacing it without issues. The pasta dish was so good! I scooped the extra sauce with my crostini and really enjoyed it. The clams were meaty and fresh too. Daughter ordered the pasta with meat sauce- also very good. We arrived on time and waited maybe 5 minutes before being seated. All the outdoor tables were full so the two of us sat at a low 4-top inside not far from the kitchen. Water was brought right away. Our server then took our drink, appetizer and entree orders. We each had a pint of Stella beer on draft and we shared an order of their Focaccia bread, served with butter and a dish of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The beer was cold and because it was draft, not from a green bottle, no skunk smell or taste :) The Focaccia bread isn't what we make in the States, but it was find. More of a soft, yet dense bread, topped with herbs. For $3 CAN, it was a deal. Later on, the Casesar salad was brought out. It was a generous portion and was plenty for the two of us to split. The dressing was tasty as was the shaved Parmesan cheese and the house made croutons. Later, our Cannelloni entree came. It was in an oval dish that had been baked. The full order came with 2 Cannellonis. Here again, plenty for two people to share. It was stuffed with a meat and cheese mixture. We were too full to be tempted by their dessert menu. Our friends arrive from the US in a couple of days, so we've made another reservation here at Portofino for the four of us. The only downside to Portofino was that it is popular and busy, so it was a bit loud inside.

So we kept getting bumped by the servers. The waitresses were very nice however they were a little sloppy when pouring water into our classes, there were many times that I had to clean the table with a napkin because water got all over the table, so that was wasted napkins... The food wasn't too bad, I'm not gonna lie. I have to say, I've had a bit better. The desserts were amazing though. The bathrooms weren't as cleanly, I mean, the floors could've used a bit of a cleaning and as a germaphobe, it didn't sit well with me. Overall, would I come here again? I'm not too sure because I live far away lol but it was decent enough.
