As we were about to leave, he suddenly stopped us and said we could take a table after all. Even though there were plenty of empty tables, he seated us in a corner right by the emergency exit we were literally facing the exit the entire time while eating. What made it more confusing was that most of the other tables stayed empty the whole time we were there. The whole experience just felt off and a bit uncomfortable. I'm not sure why we were first told we couldn't be seated, only to be placed in such an awkward spot when there were clearly better options available. The other staff members we interacted with were friendly, but this initial interaction and seating decision were disappointing. While stopping in Quebec City on a cruise, we discovered this restaurant on Yelp. We took an Uber from the cruise port to the restaurant which was less than a $10 ride. It was well worth the trip. The service was excellent as our server, Phillipe spoke perfect English and made us feel welcome. The food quality was excellent, the wine selection was good and the service was all 5 star. This is located about 10-12 minutes walk from the Hilton. The walk over to here is not well lit and can feel sketch, but Quebec seems to be one of the safest cities I've been to. They close at 9pm and the restaurant is on the small side. They were able to accommodate 9 of us. The food was very good and worth the walk over. The portions were pretty average and the prices was not that bad. I would probably say the carbonara was the best dish. The linguine Ciccio was a close second. The lemon spaghetini is a little heavy on the lemon side and needs more sauce to it. It's still good though, but not my go to. Service was great and attentive. read more

I was in quebec city for the weekend and I found this hidden italian restaurant away from touristy area. It was located on the hill, however, it was worth the walk to the restaurant. The servers here were very friendly and accommodating. We didnt have reservation but I called ahead around 5pm and they were able to get us in. So definitely try going early if you dont have reservation. We got calamari for appetizer and this was the best calamari because it melted in our mouths. We also got chicken alfredo and seafood pasta and they were so delicious. It felt like I was in italy as i was eating this pasta. Chicken alfredo was super creamy and seafood pasta was white wine based and it was full of seafood. For dessert, we got crème brûlée and affogato and it was absolutely amazing. The service was very nice and funny, and brought out a 2-foot long pepper grinder. Got to love it. We had escargot, Caesar salad, lemon pasta and the walleye -- two superior dishes and two good ones: the escagot was tender with a delicious and rich cream sauce and a small piece of flaky pastry, but not cloying; the walleye was perfectly broiled,, crispy ont he outside tedner and moist inside; capers, and berries (cranberries? not sure) but absolutely delicious. The salad and pasta were good but not outstanding. Many dishes I'd like to come back and try: red sauce pastas, the salmon, and chicken marsala. They fit us in on a Friday night with an 8pm reservation. We were having trouble finding some place to eat so we were grateful. The restaurant was cute with a very mellow vibe. We were a party of 4 and we ordered the rice balls and fried cheese squares. We did not like either. I personally ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo and I'd give it 2 stars. The chicken tasted like it was from a can. Others tried it at my table and all said the same. Also, it wasn't very flavorful as a whole. My husband ordered the steak and fries and really liked it. One friend ordered the veal Parmesan and said it was very good, the other ordered two entrees to try. Great little Italian gem just off of rue St Jean! Yelp led us to this spot, and as usual, we were not disappointed. This is a tiny restaurant with maybe 10 or 12 tables and a small bar, which lends to an excellent ambiance. I speak French, but my wife and daughter don't, and they were so happy that our host and servers both spoke English. We were excited to see that suppli (arancini siciliani) was on the appetizer list. Suppli is a deep fried risotto ball filled with meat sauce with a mozzarella ball in the middle. These were much smaller than what they serve in Italy, sans the mozzarella ball in the middle, but still very good, as the cheese is mixed with the risotto for a very creamy bite of goodness. For our main courses, we had the Linguini Ciccio, the Fettuccini Alfredo, and the Spaghetti Carbonara. All 3 were fantastic! The pasta was so fresh, and the sauces were smoothly divine. Incredible flavor! This is the best Italian food that we've had in a long time - probably since being in Italy. We weren't that hungry so we ordered the calamari, the caprese salad and an order of their prosciutto, capers and olive penne. I had a tomato based sauce pasta (I forget the name), but it was delicious. I didn't know pasta could be made so well, but this place knocked it out of the park for me. Our last night in Quebec and we wanted something special. We did a food tour earlier in the day and felt we had plenty of traditional food in us and were craving Italian. It has an old school charm and feels like an Italian restaurant should: warm and inviting, classy yet laid back. We opted for the fixed dinner options and both of our dinners were positively delicious! I got the cheese appetizer which was this yummy crusted warmed cheese , vegetable soup, a duo of pasta which was chefs choice and finished with profiteroles and cappuccino. My boyfriend had pork meatballs,veggie soup, cannelloni, and coffee and 3 layer chocolate cake for dessert. The prices were crazy reasonable; 8 bucks for a lovely glass of wine and about $35 for all the food listed above PP. Yes, it's a walk up the hilly streets but they are so charming (right off of Rue St. Jean) that it's worth it.
