The pizza toppings were generous and well matched and the pasta sauce was very tasty. The house red paired well with the food. The host was friendly and hustled to serve everyone but he took time to chat and explain the food so you never felt like you were being rushed. My boyfriend got the margherita pizza and a glass of house wine (chardonnay) for $17 total. Cheesy crust on the outside of the pizza. Just by the train station, this little family-run pizza spot is an absolute gem. The food is more than decent; we tried the Caesar salad, two pizzas, and the Mars bar crème brûlée. The appetizer sized salad is copious, with lots of bacon and quite a lot of capers... I'm not a huge fan but my husband was eating them up by the spoonful so it worked out ;) The Di Marco pizza was very well balanced with prosciutto, arugula, and balsamic reduction. We tried an Italian sausage pizza with hot peppers that was pretty good as well. The crust is crazy thin - almost nonexistent, and the cheese runs off the edges to form a baked cheese sort of crust. The crème brûlée really tasted like a Mars bar and had the crunchy crust and creamy texture of the classic dish. But forget all of that, because the service was the absolute warmest we have ever received. My favorite meal during my visit to Quebec. Spectacular and attentive service in this family-run restaurant (the kids were helping set tables and add finishing touches, which I loved watching). Stumbled upon this place when we are visiting farmers market. Have to say this was my favourite meal during our visit! So unique and tasty. I am a fan of thin crust pizza and this was the best. Truffle pizza - amazing amazing pizza. The truffle and goat cheese and cherry tomatoes wee sooo tasty. I wanted to go back to order this again but we didn't have time sadly. My husband ordered another pizza that was quite good but I cannot remember the name. It had Italian sausage, cherry tomatoes, and onions. The winner was still the truffle pizza. Small restaurant and off the path of a tourist location in Quebec City but worth going to. Family owned and the owner Marco greeted my friends and I upon arrival. His mother, Claudette, was our waitress. Very personal experience from the beginning and the food is excellent. My friends and I shared a Caesar salad to start and 3 pizzas. 2 of the pizzas were part of the specials and one plain margarita. All 3 pizzas were great but the 2 specialty ones were the best since there were lots of flavors, each complimenting the other. Had the gluten free pizza and I have to admit this is amazing gluten free pizza. Let's be honest. Gluten free pizza usually lacks in taste and texture. This was extremely balanced with sauce, topping and cheese. My husband had the regular pizza and he was in love with his pizza. I never seen him eat an entire pie by himself. Came here for the first dinner in Québec City while my 1 week trip. This place got a lot more reviews on tripadvisor than yelp and it helped a lot in making up my mind :) it is a small place (10tables - total seats 20) family run place. I got lucky and got the last table and didn't have to wait. (I loved it here so much that I came back for lunch on 6th day of my trip) The service can be on the slow side, but not any mean bad! The lady is super sweet and answered all my questions regarding the menu since they were all in French Food is WONDERFUL. There are so many options to the pizza and the pizza is so different! Super thin crust (Like I feel like crust is made of cheese or something lol) size is pretty good for 1 person. They also have couple specials listed on the wall. It is easy to find as it is across the street from the via rail and autobus station in Québec City. They do take reservations so if you can plan ahead, call and make reservations! read more

We had heard about this place and decided we had to check it out-- and I'm so glad we did. This place just does great food. And they had good vegetarian options for us too! I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time because they were full (we got lucky after a short wait). The quality and taste of the food was amazing. We had the pizza- thin crust with amazing flavor, lasagna- light and tasty, an unique appetizer with cheese- of which I forgot the name sorry, the Mars bar creme brûlée-OMG so good, and the chocolate dessert- again warm, light, and paired beautifully with the fruit and ice cream. Despite reading reviews and the restaurant's website, it was never clear to me that what is served at this restaurant is baked, crispy cheese with toppings. So it's more than "the cheese goes out to the edge of the crust". The cheese literally is the crust. So if you are lactose intolerant and want to order pizza without cheese, like one is able to do at every other pizza joint, you end up with what appears to be a tortilla-type thing with sauce and toppings. So, yes, this is very unique "pizza", in fact, it may be a stretch even calling it pizza. Nonetheless, the very hard-working family that runs this place does a great job, there are good beer and wine choices and while there is table service, it is very small and very (think plastic chairs) casual. read more

You really should try this place. The pizzas that you see in the posted pics are single-serving and the four wings on the pizza are mozzarella. The mozzarella is low-fat and full of flavor. My Words Cannot Describe How Amazing This Place Is! I visited this restaurant back in summer of 2013, and I completely forgot to write a review for it on Yelp. My friends and I were visiting Quebec City for the first time for a 3 night, 4 day trip and we were initially looking at different restaurants for having lunch or dinner. My friend told me to look up the reviews for La Pizzaio and mentioned that it is ranked #6. Therefore, I checked the positive reviews and I told my friend we should definitely check it out. It was not that far from our hotel in Old Quebec, I would say roughly a decent 10 minute walk up from rue St. Anne down to rue Saint-Paul? When we got there, we noticed how busy the restaurant was which was a good thing and the owners who were also the waiters from which I have come to known via the reviews kindly informed us that it would take roughly about 15 minutes. After exactly 15 minutes, we were seated at our table. The table arrangement was very neat and the decor inside the restaurant was excellent and the choice of music as well. One of the owners gave us our menus and eventually Marco (the primary owner) came to our table and asked how we are doing, etc and asked us what we would like to have. When we gave our orders (I chose the vegetarian pizza), When I requested for the vegetarian pizza, Marco kindly asked whether I am a pure vegetarian and I said yes I am. This is a great thing in my books as I have never been inquired at all about my special dietary restrictions at all in my life at a restaurant despite it being a chain owned or a family owned restaurant. Marco was also sweet enough to give us a small tasting appetizer (I forgot what it was called) but three of them had Chorizo (Portuguese Sausage) for my friends and the other was vegetarian with sun dried tomato and Marco kindly informed that one was vegetarian. When Marco brought us the pizzas, it was DELICIOUS. It was the best thin crust pizza I ever had and my friends also enjoyed their pizzas (I forget what they had) but I could see the enjoyment in their faces. For $10 to $13 it is definitely worth every dollar and penny visiting this place. It was mouth watering. Marco even suggested to us a few places to check out for the night life around Quebec City and we thanked him for that. I know for sure I would visit this place in the future again. My sister and I visited Québec City for a week in June, and this restaurant was less than a 5 minute walk from our AirBnb. The convenience was not the good thing about this restaurant, though, as we would have walked up, down, and around the wall twice to get there if we'd had to. We both agree this was our favorite, most memorable meal of the trip - and we had pretty darn good food all over the city. My sister got the aragula pizza while I chose the spinici, but I'm convinced there's no lesser option on the whole menu. The man working was very friendly and accommodating, insisting the pizzas were small enough to order one for each of us. This may or may not be true depending on your appetite - we at first thought we should have shared, but we both ended up eating over half our own pizzas, so... The crust is thin but not too crunchy, the sauce is present but not overpowering, and the cheese. The cheese is the star of the show. Perfectly melted in the middle, overflowing off the crust into nice, crispy edges. I've never seen or eaten anything like it before. If you're a cheese lover like myself, you will not regret this. Since they had not led us astray in any of their other recommendations, we took their recommendation for this restaurant. What a great idea! Not only was this not only the best pizza I have ever eaten, but some of the best service I have have ever received. I can't even describe the decadence of the appetizer, my words wouldn't even do it justice.
