This is an updated review after Trek acquired Spokes in early 2022 and changed the name to Trek permanently as of April 2022. The selection of bikes here is great (if you are looking for a Trek model of course). Back in 2020, the staff did not try to pressure me into buying a particular brand. I really appreciated that after visiting another bike store that was trying to do a hard sell. Also, I was grateful when Spokes Inc. called a neighboring store to find a mountain bike that my 16 year old liked. It was ready in a week or so. Fast forwarding to May 2022, I returned to do a Level 2 tune-up for each bike. It's a bit pricey at $189, but the service charge seemed reasonable given how much wear and tear my sons have put on both bikes (e.g., inner tube and tires needed replacement). One thing that I like about this store is that Trek seemed to retain most of the service employees in the back when it was called Spokes. That's a positive sign that Trek wants to retain loyal customers, and has a clear business model and strategy (i.e., post-pandemic demand for bikes will decrease, but demand for service work will increase). Bottom line - if you're looking for a new bike or need service work, be sure to take a look at the Trek Bicycle Store as one of your options.

I recently visited the store at the start of the spring season--typically a great time for cycling and community engagement. My intent was simple: get air in my bike tires. My initial interaction with a staff member was excellent--welcoming, helpful, and exactly what you'd expect from a community-focused business. That experience changed completely when your service manager became involved. The interaction quickly escalated into behavior that was demeaning, hostile, and completely unprofessional. I was spoken to in a way that was both disrespectful and humiliating--something I can honestly say I have never experienced in my 64 years. More concerning, I was told I was not welcome in the store. Let me be direct: that is not a customer service issue--that is a leadership issue. This individual represents your brand in the local community, and based on this interaction, does so in the worst possible way. Behavior like this doesn't just impact one customer--it erodes trust, damages your reputation, and pushes business away from what should be a community anchor. I also want to highlight the contrast: your frontline employee created a positive, welcoming experience. That tells me the culture at the ground level has potential--but it is being undermined by management behavior that is completely out of alignment. The mechanics are polite and competent. I also appreciate the text message updates. Each issue has been resolved to my satisfaction and I am grateful for the reasonable prices. Brick and mortar bike shops are going away. However, the community still needs safe spaces to gather. Support your local bike shops & enjoy the ride.

Handy Bikes took it and fixed it right away over a year ago and I haven't had a problem since. Since then, they've been my go to for all service issues and have been stellar. They're truly the best, so glad I found this shop and I won't go anywhere else!

Second, these staff want to see you succeed in your triathlons. Third, they offer the gear, training, and resources to help you find that success. They have a wide variety of brands and offer products you won't find in just any LBS (argon, kask, and tri specific items such as aerobar water bottle racks). Their mechanic knows what he's doing, which, from my experience, isn't always the case. I also had a video analysis of my swim during one of my visits to their shop. I was impressed with how quickly they identified issues with my stroke and the solutions they offered to fix these issues.

He helped us 'test drive' all three, in their safe parking lot, and we were able to make a quick decision. It was a breath of fresh air! He helped us understand the features and operation of the bike, and patiently answered ALL our questions quickly and direcly... We consider ourselves reasonably technically and mechanically competent, but having them assembled and tested by professionals before taking them on the road definitely provides a lot of peace of mind... Just the safety considerations alone are worth the price of admission... The additional benefit is they also provide a lot of other services for maintaining and servicing the bikes, which is also a BIG DEAL. I cannot imagine the stress, endless frustrating telephone conversations, and the hassle of trying to fix, or worst case, disassemble and return one of these things to some faceless organization! Bottom line is our bikes will arrive in a few days, and we are very relaxed about our decision. They will assemble and test our bikes and JAIME will give us a call when they are ready for pickup. They will load them onto our bike rack, ready for the nearest trail!! Very impressed with JAIME MUNOZ, and the business model in general. I highly recommend them. After some more back and forth, they switched out the bike for a larger one. Second, the saddle bags on my bike were not cleaned out before my rental - there were empty air cans, a chapstick and trash in the saddle bag. Last, and most offensive - while on my ride, I had an issue where the bike chain cover kept coming loose and the pedal would get caught on it mid rotation causing me to stop suddenly. I completed the ride and when I returned the bike, I mentioned it to the owner Mr. Robert Esti. He indicated that I may have done something to the part as it did not start out like that. I explained that nothing happened and it seemed to be spontaneous. He was rude, dismissive and did not address my concerns. For such a large price tag for rentals, this was not a good value for the experience - combined with the rude demeanor of Mr Esti- I recommend not using this location or the new location in Herndon.

I had been less than enthusiastic since our last tandem bike jaunt in DC left me ragged and looking forward to the end. We rented a tandem bike from a known rental in DC; the bike was rickety and took effort even on the completely flat route we were on. My GF found Pedego and opted for the tandem electric bike. This was a 180 degree experience from the other rental company jn DC. The owner was friendly, attentive, enthusiastic and really made us feel welcome. He knows his bikes gave us a quick run down that made us feel comfortable. The bikes are impeccabley maintained and he's thought of everything including helmets, storage pouch, bike lock, flat tire kit etc. He was even extremely well versed on the route to Mt. Vernon. Every pointer he gave us was spot on. We made it to Mt. Vernon and enjoyed food, history, and culture. The way back was fun since the bike did all the work, electric is the way to go for tandem bike long hauls. I plan on coming back to buy some accessories for my own fat tire e-bikes. This was a memorable experience that was easy and affordable.
