Really disappointed by the service and response to my follow-up inquiries. Konstantin came out and looked at my refrigerator and knew exactly what was wrong and causing water to leak. All with using a tool or removing a single panel or cover. I thought "wow" that is amazing, until I was told the repair cost 1674.40. I said I would have to think about it. After I received the quote with descriptions of the repairs, I requested a list of the parts they would have order and install to get a better idea of the parts and labor cost breakdown and they refused. As a consumer, I like to know what is being installed and what type of labor cost I am agreeing to pay. Unfortunately, Constant Appliance Service refused to provide any additional information citing company policy. Beware -- this company is not trustworthy. I had a $1,400 microwave stop working. I run a general contracting business and have a solid understanding of appliance repairs. Initially, I suspected a bad magnetron, but after doing more research (and noticing there was no humming noise), I realized it was unlikely the magnetron and could have been one of several inexpensive components. To save time, I called this local company. They sent a technician while I was on a jobsite. According to my wife, the technician simply turned the microwave on, did no real troubleshooting, and immediately claimed the "expensive" magnetron was bad. He then sent a $900 repair estimate. The exact replacement magnetron for my model costs $50 brand-new on Amazon. I called the company to question the diagnosis, and they gave me several excuses and refused to refund the $90 trip fee. Knowing the magnetron likely wasn't the issue, I replaced it myself -- and the microwave still didn't work. In about 20 minutes, I confirmed what the technician should have checked in the first place. I then ordered an additional $40 in parts from Amazon and discovered the real problem: a faulty door switch costing under $20. Total repair time was less than an hour. Do NOT use this company. Before 5 PM, I called to confirm, and they assured me they were coming, stating the technician would call when on the way. They never showed up. My experience with this company started off well, and then went downhill very quickly. ** If you don't want to read the whole thing - the woman on the phone lied and they never showed up so I waited around for 3 hours for nothing. ** I called to ask about pricing for my fridge and the man I spoke to on the phone was really nice and friendly - I had called 9 other places before this and decided to go with this company because of the customer service they seemed to provide. The man told me that the scheduler would call me shortly to schedule a time for him to come over. When the woman called to schedule the appointment, I let her know that I had seen the negative reviews which were a bit concerning, but I still wanted to try them out because I want to support a local business and appreciated the kindness from the man on the phone. What was her response? She said that was a different company and they were under different ownership now. That should have been my first red flag because the person she scheduled me with had been mentioned multiple times in the yelp reviews. She also said this wasn't their account and that they had all 5 stars ... which also wasn't true because the phone number on Yelp matched what's on Google where I initially found them. Regardless, I dismissed it and scheduled the appointment for Friday between 12 to 3. I got a text message confirming my time and on the Friday of the appointment texted asking them if they would let me know when the technician was on the way, to which they quickly responded yes. Well they never showed up or called! All I needed was a text to reschedule and I wouldn't be leaving this review but it is very disrespectful of peoples time to make them wait over three hours with no communication. I just wanted to replace the gaskets on my 11-year old refrigerator and asked for a phone estimate. They insisted on sending out a technician to "diagnose" the problem for $89.95 fee that is nonrefundable and can apply towards the cost of the repair. My technician decided that in addition to new gaskets I would need a thorough cleaning and a door alignment for a total cost of over $600. I paid $1,000 for the refrigerator. No way was I going to pay over $600 for a cleaning and gasket swap out, so I bought the gasket parts myself and a coil brush for $259 and will replace the gaskets and clean the coils myself, which is easy to do with videos on you-tube. I don't think this company really wants to do the repairs. They make enough on $89.95 estimates. I won't be calling them for any future repairs. This appears to be the way appliance repair services like to do business nowdays--high diagnostic fees and unreasonable estimates. Not customer service oriented. read more

I am still trying to get my refund of $128 after 10 days! This company has not complied with Better Business Bureau nor American Express. I had tech come out to diagnose refrigerator problem and scheduled for a new part for service July 16th. I had cancelled the appointment as I think I left the door open slightly. Fridge and freezer is fine now. I have been charged $208 as downpayment on a part. They charge $80 for a visit. I still did not get a refund to my credit card of $128.00. A freezer fan was going out at a rental property. I was not available to do my own research and find a reputable company to call, so I went with Constant because that's who the renter found. The technician showed up within a decent amount of time and called me with the estimate. He said the total cost would be $450. I asked how much the part cost and he said, "around $400 because it is an old refrigerator." I asked for the details on their invoice and he said the invoice would be sent to me via email. Had this not been somewhat of an emergency, I would not have authorized the repair and just paid the $90 service fee. $400 for a fan? How much do they mark-up their parts? The repair was done in about 30 min. The renter was happy with the technician. When I asked via text for a proper invoice showing the service fee, credit for the service fee (because they did the repair, I would not be charged for that), parts and labor costs.... and... I was denied. They gave me some yak about California law not requiring them to provide that info. What kind of a shady outfit does not provide a list of charges? Then they threatened to remove the part and reinstall the bad one if I didn't pay. LOL! I wasn't refusing to pay, I was the one who agreed to their exorbitant cost. All I wanted was a proper invoice that listed what I was charged for and proof that I was not charged their service fee. When I used their link to pay, I noticed that the description on the invoice had been changed from the one I originally received. The first one said, "Motor fan freezer part replacement." The temperature in our freezer was in the 50's. We called Constant Appliance Service and they had a technician at our house about an hour later. Alex diagnosed the problem, a tired defroster, and fixed it in a very efficient manner. When he noticed we had a broken shelf, he repaired that, too, for no extra charge. Right after my warranty expired, my Viking refrigerator started having cooling issues and I needed someone to come and give me an honest assessment. Some companies I called were not willing to service Vikings but Constant Appliance assured me they had the experience to service all brands. We originally used this company to diagnose our refrigerator in our laundry room that stopped cooling, beginning of August. It was $50 for a diagnosis. They quoted us $900 to fix it. We could not afford to spend this much on an older extra Fridge. So we decided to wait. Two weeks after this, our main fridge in the kitchen was not working correctly now too. So we called this same company back since they claim the diagnostic fee we paid will go towards the repair. I was hung up on the first time I called, and then again the second time, so my husband called with his phone instead. They answered , they said today they raised their diagnosis fee to $85. Hmmm... So , The night before , this was what they messaged me in Yelp App- (Our diagnostics fee is $50 before any repairs and it's applied towards the estimate in case of a repair.).We confronted them about this and they said the price was raised that day! What a coincidence! We decided to call a different company to look at both refrigerators.. , and they fixed the fridge that was supposed to have cost $900 by cleaning the coils and resetting it. OMG... This new company also said the main fridge would only cost $400 for parts and labor... They came back 2 days later and installed the part. I called and received a callback and appointment quickly. Vlad came out and gave an estimate on the dryer to replace the dryer motor (not cheap). He came back the next day with a motor. He took a long time to fix it, requested towels to put in the dryer. Once he was finished, he left the towels in a clump, and left a mess on my floor. Initially I thought no big deal, I'll clean it up myself. Unfortunately, the dryer wasn't fixed. The same problem was continuing. The dryer had to "rest" in between loads. Two guys came out and determined it was the overload switch. They replaced that and now it works. I think this was the problem in the first place and it was a much cheaper fix. Although I'm happy with their response and communication, I'm not happy with the initial diagnosis and cost to fix. (Also left a mess on the floor again). My experience with Constant Appliance Services is NOT good. First of all, they do not disclose the diagnose fees because if you decide NOT to continue using this company for repairs, will ask for very high diagnose fees.
