Don't expect quality craftsmanship. Rather, expect things like visible drywall screws for lack of proper taping/sanding, fixtures coming out of drywall after very little use, and similar fun stuff. DO NOT recommend.

Maybe they just decided to cut everything wrong and my house is level..?

I found Stein Construction through HomeAdviser. I was looking for a handyman…read more Sam Stein, the patriarch came to my house April 25, 2019, reviewed my needs, gave me a price and wrote up a contract. Sam is the head of this family business. He's 78 and has worked in this business his whole life. HE KNOWS A LOT OF PEOPLE . . . to get things done in the house -- and outside the house. The first contract was to deconstruct parts of the basement to make way for Woods Basement Systems to re-pier and anchor the house: the bar and the setee; install a new downspout for the second floor, so all water wasn't running in one direction; correct the gutter direction so the water flow was balanced between the two downspouts; rescreen the patio door (scratched to death by dogs, and hillbillied by me); replace the pull-chain light in the closet under the basement stairs; put new rubber lining on the French Door out to the deck; and replace the floodlight in the back yard. The second contract was May 3, 2019, to construct a French Drain, which required six guys in ONE day to dig, place and refill soil. Sam drew pictures, so I knew what was going on -- especially to make sure this was occurring on my property. Sam talked to my neighbor, and I did, too. SAM KNOWS PEOPLE!! The third contract was June 17, 2019, to remodel the hall bath on the second floor. I selected the cabinets at Lowe's with Helen Gregory. Sam's son, Andy, and I selected the countertop to match the marble I already had (rather recently) in the tub area. Andy did all the measuring for the cabinets. And I was not replacing the floor. White tile . . . why argue? Everything was moving smoothly until Woods Basement Systems said half of the front wall, including in the cedar closet, needed to come down to make way for the anchors. That changed things up a lot. And it changed all the prices, and it changed the timing. I was frantic. Nobody flinched -- just took it in stride. THESE THINGS HAPPEN!! A lot of work/improvement came to my house from Sam Stein. And much happiness to me. Throughout all of this, Sam would drop by almost every day to ensure things were moving along and moving appropriately to my liking and to his specifications. The hall bathroom remodel was finished in mid-December. It is gorgeous! And all of the other work was supremely performed. These are great people. Sam, his son Andy and son-in-law Rich (the major painter, stucco guy and trimmer) -- all did a fantastic job!!

We received quotes from a dozen contractors and none of them could stick to our budget. Rick provided some solutions that would help us stay under budget and still have a really nice space. It is now the BEST space in the house. We will be calling on Rick again for our next renovation. We had a one-year-old at the time of renovation and it was in the middle of the Covid 19 Pandemic. Rick and his team were incredible with checking on us and letting us know in advance how our day might be disrupted by the work. They were considerate of sound levels when he was napping and so courteous of our home life, which we were still adjusting to ourselves. This showed us a lot about the character of Premier 1 Properties. They care about the quality of their work, but they also care about their customers and their experiences during renovations.

These men didn't arrive until 10:30am to begin their day. They took a lunch break and left each day by 3pm! One day, I saw that they were using my extension cord that they'd taken from my garage without asking! Umm bring your own equipment please or at least ask to borrow. Only one of them could speak broken English. They were scared of my dog so I HAD to be home while they were working. It was ridiculous. Their drywall skills were pathetic and tape and muddying looked like my preschool kids did it. When I would show Rick their shoddy work he would had them correct it but it was over and over and over. Their paint work was poor. Parts of the floor tile had to be removed and replaced. We found The ductwork was left unhooked up and ceiling tiles right over unfinished ductwork. I would not recommend and I will never use again. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY as they hire non English speaking men who do do not know how to do interior construction work. Egress window leaked too

I was under the impression that these were direct employees of his, his crew. Basically he was acting as a general contractor that hired another company or hired some people looking for work. Not really sure here. I realize I made some changes, but they were clear and written in a revised proposal. I didn't want the doors painted, then I got a phone call that they were painted. Sure, he didn't charge me for this, but that is proper after all. I didn't want the trim painted, and paid for that, because I missed it in the proposal. My fault. They also painted the hardware for opening/closing the windows, those were metal and need the proper paint, I did have them take that off. The house didn't have flooring in, so I was asked about drop cloths, I said use them but don't worry too much about a few paint splatters. However, I did indicate that I wasn't removing the slate flooring and to be careful. Here is a big fail, many paint spots. He tried to have them clean it up. Now the floor is sticky, you can here the soles of your shoes and feel it too. He tried cleaning that up, when it wasn't done, he offered to do it again. I really felt he had done enough. I'm still trying to find a way to clean this up, because it's sticky any dust or what not sticks to it. It's really upsetting, as I loved this detail. I will look to bring in some professionals and see what this will set me back. There's also spots on the bathroom floors, which were also said that I wasn't removing. And those doors that were painted, they weren't dry and were closed, now that paint has popped off, so I have to touch that up, or maybe just start replacing doors. I realize also this review is a year since the work was done, I was in the middle of doing the rest of the work this last year. I almost considered them for doing the kitchen rehab. I really feel I dodged a bullet there. Noah, is a nice man, I think his intentions are good. However, the whole interior project was a mess, left me very frustrated, and I have projects left to do because of it. I don't think he checked up on the work as it was being done, and I don't think he looked at it after until I contacted him. Paint shouldn't have been on that slate, nor should you stick to your floor. I also had to point on paint spots on light fixtures, that should've been cleaned. Just no.
