Came here with the prospect to build in a community in Wentzville. Priced out a home on a wooded lot. Regroup and come Back later to submit an offer, base price jumps. We go back and forth for a week almost settling in. Make an offer with adding an elevation that is 4k more then what is included. Consort comes back with a counter that is 5k more. Simple math gets you to realize adding the elevation in on top of standing offer is 4k more. Not 5k. Bad experience. Wouldn't build with them. The problems we have encountered include, but are not limited to: Poor quality finishes and workmanship that do not meet reasonable expectations for a new build Defective or improperly installed materials Repeated warranty items that either remain unresolved or require multiple visits to correct Lack of quality control prior to closing, shifting the burden to the homeowner after possession What has been most frustrating is not just the number of issues, but the time, effort. This has consumed significant personal time and created unnecessary stress. A homeowner should not have to act as a project manager to correct fundamental construction and quality problems. Unfortunately, this experience has made it clear that the focus appears to be on finishing the job and collecting payment, rather than delivering the level of quality promised. This has been further reinforced by the condition of the cabinets, which have scratches, discoloration, and functional issues. Some drawers do not operate properly, and the proposed solution was simply to provide a marker to cover visible imperfections. The cabinets feel more like second hand materials than new installations. Overall, it feels as though leftover or substandard materials were used, while every upgrade was still fully charged. This has been extremely disappointing and does not align with the expectations set when purchasing a home from Consort. Before the house was completed, multiple concerns were identified, including but not limited to: - Incorrect placement of a toilet - Materials used that were not what was expected or discussed - Kitchen cabinet build‑ins for the stove and microwave that did not align with what was represented - The driveway not meeting expectations, including visible cracking After closing and moving into the home, it became clear that the flooring issues were far more significant than originally presented. Since then, we have identified a growing list of items requiring attention, including but not limited to the flooring. We are now being told that the entire first floor flooring needs to be replaced, which underscores the seriousness of the issue and confirms that the original concern raised prior to closing was valid, and the home being was delivered with the wrong elevation than what was selected and agreed upon In addition to the flooring, there are other issues ranging from the condition and cleanliness of the home at move‑in to various workmanship and installation concerns. The volume and nature of these items have been overwhelming and have significantly impacted what should have been a positive experience. read more

We were told several times that our rock and gravel and steep sided lawn would be rectified. We have been here 2.5 years and NOTHING has been done!! Keep in mind we paid for a sodded and useable yard front and back. We are extremely disappointed. read more

Don't expect quality craftsmanship. Rather, expect things like visible drywall screws for lack of proper taping/sanding, fixtures coming out of drywall after very little use, and similar fun stuff. DO NOT recommend. read more

After our family purchased one of their new homes, I am extremely disappointed in their lack of professionalism. They have messy contractors blocking the entire street and trash receptacles in the road. Over 5 months, I have had 4 flat tires. The contractors do not clean up after themselves and Consort is not taking any ownership of it. My 4th nail in my tire (all of which was documented through Dobbs) was denied. They are the last builder I would ever build with! Now I'm stuck having to replace my 4th tire on my dime for their uncleanliness!!! I would NOT recommend using them as a builder. Can you give NO stars? Please DO NOT Build with Consort! Just don't! If I could take it all back I would. Not only do I have a uneven house. My wood floors cheap and soft. The carpet had to be replaced already. My 2nd level is not even. The windows are drafty, broken and not sealed properly. Moisture in my basement ceiling and was told ok and repaired? Moisture comes from nowhere I guess.... Cracks galore in the drywall, doors, door jams, trim. My kitchen cabinets all have dents scratches etc, the quality is terrible and they are an upgrade. (2nd qualities consort?) My foundation outside paint is peeling, there is missing concrete in the fondation and my front porch. Nail pops on the porch as well, no caulk in many places (yay more water damage to come can't wait!), they caulked to fill bad cuts in the siding and wrong sized pillars. Siding cut wrong, sofit cut wrong. Looks like a child built it. Paint on my wood floors, over spray everywhere! My master closet still needs to be painted. OH and the day I moved in... my bathtub flooded my house! My lights flicker also always! Guess I will just wait till it burns to the ground and pray were not in it! I send request after request and they will come fix one of the 90 things on the list. I am a single parent, sold my beautiful older QUALITY home so I didn't have to worry about maintaining anymore and I have this turd!! Worst mistake ever! Salesman lacks integrity and is very unprofessional. Lots of promises made and did not deliver on many of them. When called out on not being a man of his word, we were cussed at and threatened to sell our home to someone else, although we paid our down payment and were a little over a month from closing. Lots of issues upon moving in- multiple cracks in the foundation, poorly leveled yard, grey water from faucets and walkthrough repairs not completed. Craftsmanship of overall home does not seem to compare to other home builders in the area. Very hard to get in contact with anyone! read more

We closed on our house with Consort Homes on 11/14/19. We have had extreme challenges ever since with getting warranty claims addressed in a timely manner.  There were a long list of items pointed out during our walk through that did not get resolved until several months later.  Many of our complaints took follow up emails and calls to get addressed, with us doing all of the legwork to check up on slow responses and get contractors scheduled. There are still two significant items remaining that were submitted for warranty months ago.  Neither of these items have been addressed to our satisfaction despite repeated requests to speak with someone higher up than our Field Manager (Dave).  On Friday, 12/18/20 we were sent an email stating that they were not going to do as we requested on these items. Item #1 - 11x14 concrete patio replacement requested.  History: on 7/17/20 we reported a hole under the patio that needed mudjacking.  Consort sent over Double Image to fill it in with dirt (despite the fact that we stated up front that was not the solution).  Double Image immediately recognized it needed more than that, so they did not add dirt, but reported back to Consort that mudjacking would be needed.  On 8/3/20, Consort issued a work order to Quality Waterproofing to do the mudjacking.  After a month of no contact from them to schedule the work, on 9/9/20 we had to submit another request reminding them that the mudjacking still needed to be done.  By this time, a large crack had also developed in the patio.  The mudjacking was finally done on xx/xx/xx, leaving unsightly patches from a dozen large holes drilled by the mudjackers as well as a large patched crack covering the 11' length of the patio.  All four segments of the patio were affected and needed jacking. On 9/25/20 we submitted another warranty claim for the unsightly repairs to the patio.  They sent out the original concrete company (Cowling and Garbo) to make it "look better." Their first attempt was to simply sand down the patched areas, which did not improve the look much at all.  On 10/20/20 they returned and attempted to add a layer of concrete and sealant on top of the existing pad.  The added layer of concrete is so thin that you can still see the indentions of the mudjacking holes as well as the large crack.  They also added an ugly tinted color sealant on top of the concrete without consulting us first (we would have requested clear). The blue-gray sealant was even slopped on our brand new landscaping rocks because they did not protect the surrounding areas when applying it. The only thing Consort has extended to us at this point is a second coat of sealant, which will not improve things.  We have refused this offer and do not want Cowling and Garbo sent back to our property.  It needs to be repoured by a more competent concrete company, not sealed with an additional layer of blue-gray tinted sealant.  At this point, the patio looks 10 years old and is not the patio we paid $2,483 extra to have poured when we purchased the home.  In lieu of Consort repouring, we would also accept a refund of the cost of the original patio so that we can have it repoured by a company of our choosing. Item #2 - Incorrectly installed soffit in deck ceiling.  History: During construction, we paid to have an electrical box installed in the covered deck ceiling in order to hang a fan/light at a later date.  When we attempted to hang a fan in August of 2020, it was quickly apparent that the location of the electrical box and the metal soffit brace were at odds with each other.  The metal brace holding the soffit runs directly down the center of the ceiling and the electrical box is placed directly beside it.  Hanging any light fixture in this location requires cutting the metal brace in order to install the fixture.  We brought this to their attention on 9/9/20.  Dave sent an electrician from Branson Electric and a Cheltenham construction representative to meet us and review the issue.  Both gentlemen agreed that the only way to properly install (without having to cut away the metal brace) would be to remove the current soffit from the ceiling and reinstall it with two spaced braces on the ceiling, allowing the electrical box to remain centered and away from any interference.  After this meeting we did not hear anything from Consort, so I followed with another warranty request for this same item on 9/25/20.  Field Representative Dave did not reach out to the electrician they sent to get his opinion, but instead told us they would "caulk around the fan" to cover the cut metal.  This is not an acceptable solution.  We were told vague things like "no one else has had this problem" or "it's never been an issue" but when we asked for examples of homes with deck ceilings like ours that we could see, we were not provided anything to prove what they were telling us. 2/2022: More problems, more $ spent read more

I built a townhouse in 2007 with consort. They did such a great job and I loved the community so much in 2011 I purchased a display home. Just nearing the 10 year warranty end I called to ask about some cracks and possible grading issues. Bill W. was both timely and professional. He explained what they could fix, and why things were happening. He was at every service appointment and went above and beyond.
