Did a great job updating a vintage dress. Quick service and also was able to hem some pants for me quickly. Good pricing and very polite.

Ilena altered my wedding dress for me and she did an absolutely incredible job. She had me in for…read moremultiple fittings throughout the process and was honest with me about any limitations or issues she was seeing when making changes to the dress. She kept in touch with me regularly and helped me feel at ease during such a stressful time before my big day. I would recommend Ilena to anyone. Her prices were very reasonable and she also altered the dress my mom wore to the rehearsal dinner and wedding. My mom was also very pleased with the work Ilena did for her. If you are searching for great alterations, look no further, See Classy is the best!

I cannot recommend Sew Classy enough and am convinced that Ilana is part magician and part angel. I…read morewas unable to wear my original wedding gown due to a last minute disaster and found myself scrambling to buy a gown off the rack the week before my big day. I was able to find something in my size but the gown still needed to be taken in and up to fit me properly. I called Ilana at 5pm on the Tuesday before my wedding on Saturday looking for a miracle. Despite her being in the middle of busy wedding season, she graciously offered to help me and told me to come on in. Ilana was so kind and warm in person and her attention to detail was noticeable. She fitted my gown to me perfectly, had me try the dress with and without a bustle and even had me come in for a second fitting before finalizing the cuts - who gets a second fitting when they come the week of their wedding?! Last, I chose to wear my gown with a wrist strap. The wrist strap on the original dress was made of plain ribbon and Ilana asked me if she wanted her to cover it with fabric, given the time I said not to worry about it. When I put my dress on on my big day, the wrist strap was made of the lovely fabric of the rest of my gown - I was overwhelmed by Ilana's generosity and attention to detail to ensure my gown was perfect even though we were working on a very short timeline. Could not recommend more!

I've brought a total of 8 garments here to be altered, and out of those, 5 were done incorrectly or…read morenot done at all. The attention to detail is lacking here. I've had pants where the legs were hemmed different lengths, one pair never hemmed at all, and many times the garments aren't ready when they're supposed to be. They operate on a cash-only basis (seems a tad sketchy for tax purposes). There is sometimes food on their work surfaces (i.e. a bowl of half eaten oranges with peels was next to a sewing machine where my pants were being hemmed). There is almost always a dog there (I love dogs, but I don't love getting back my black pants with white dog fur on them). There are ALWAYS pins on the ground near the dressing rooms/platform where measurements are taken, so don't walk out of the dressing room without shoes on (this also makes me nervous for the dog who is walking all over that area!)

Although the lady was very friendly, there were a lot of issues I had with my wedding dress. She…read moreused colored marker to match the buttons with the hooks on the train. The marker didn't dry and so there was a green marker smear on the white train. She did get it out with water and paper towels but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. My mom and I were horrified. When I went back the next time, there was a snag in the fabric on the bust area that needed to be fixed and there was a brown liquid splash on the train. The bottom of the bag was all brown and dirty which made a brown ring around the train since it was bustled in the bag. The bag was not dirty when I dropped it off. It looks like someone spilled a cup of coffee and my dress was sitting in it! Also she had made alterations to the bust that made them totally deformed, not nice and rounded. The material was puckering in some spots (too tight) and baggy in others (too loose). Again my mom and I were horrified. I showed up to one appointment and she hadn't worked on the dress since the last time I was there. She never even called to cancel my apt. My mom and sister drove from the northtown's to meet me there! Very annoyed. I told them to just go home and went back myself a couple hours later when she could work on it. I stayed there and waited while she kept making alterations and I kept trying on the dress. She was the only worker, so every 3 minutes someone would come in to drop off/pick up, and I had to stand there and wait. I had my dress custom made to be strapless (aka paid a lot of money) but because they couldn't get the dress to lay right in the stomach area, they ended up sewing straps on the dress anyway. The straps didn't really help anything and kept slipping off my shoulders during photos (they stopped slipping once the train was bustled after the ceremony due to the weight of the dress pulling down on the straps). She had to take the dress to the cleaners to get the brown stains out. Since it was getting dry cleaned, she had to remove all of the hooks and buttons so the marker wouldn't run (again) and then sew them back on afterward. When she picked it up from the cleaners, they hadn't actually cleaned it, so she took it back. Lots of problems, delays and expecting phone calls with updates that I never actually got. I had to call them to find out what was taking so long. The floors weren't the cleanest, so I felt worried about my white dress dragging on the floor. There were also pins on the floor everywhere (I was walking barefoot at times and I'm surprised I didn't step on one). I took the dress to her in June and my wedding was in mid September. I had my final fitting at 2pm the day before my wedding! Talk about stressed out. The dress still didn't lay flat in the stomach area, but I'm not a seamstress so I don't know if that could've been fixed or not. In the end, she charged me more than she originally quoted me. All of these problems were her fault, so why did I have to pay more money? Wont be going back.

Small family place. The people are friendly depending on…read morethe day. The men are friendlier for sure. We came here for wedding suits. The price included every single piece with alterations, which was great! We chose to pay extra for zubaz lining inside the coats. I did not like that they have a kinda limited color selection. We were looking for tan/brown/beige and I think there was only like 5 shades to choose from. We finally found one we both loved and when the groomsman all went in to get fitted initially, they did try to convince my husband to pick a different suit! Eventually they called us again and said the manufacturer wasn't making the suits we wanted anymore, how convenient. We picked out new suits and they got ordered however, when they came in and nobody called to tell us so we never knew to go in to try them on for additional tailoring- we had to call them. When we went in to try them on it was about 1-2 weeks before the wedding. The inside lining we ordered extra was not sewn in yet and there were still final alterations that needing to be made with some of the arm and leg cuffs. They said come back and pick them up the week of the wedding. We went back again maybe 3 days before and still needed more alterations. The whole thing was just cutting it super close to the wedding and the amount of issues with the alterations and another one with our ring bearers suit was just so much added stress that probably could have been avoided. I would like to add though, they tailor everything, not just suits.
