I had a very disappointing experience with this cleaner/tailor. I was originally quoted $46 for alterations, but when I came to pick up my item, I was unexpectedly charged $144. When I questioned the drastic increase, the staff initially focused on explaining that the work was well done and that other places charge similar prices, rather than addressing why I had never been informed about the additional cost. Only after several exchanges did they explain that they had forgotten to include the shoulder alteration in the original quote and later added it into their system without contacting me beforehand. I told them they should have called me before proceeding with additional work that significantly changed the final price, since I would have wanted the opportunity to approve or decline it. They refused to meaningfully adjust the bill and only offered a $20 reduction. Instead of acknowledging the communication issue, they insisted they were right throughout the interaction. The lack of pricing transparency, poor communication, and the way the situation was handled left me with a very negative impression. read more

My family and I live in the area and previously enjoyed trusting this company with our clothes. However, there were two separate incidents that no longer make me feel comfortable trusting this company with my clothes. Incident 1: an elastic drawstring was removed from my blouse and was not replaced - this drawstring was unique to the blouse and cannot be replaced making the shirt unwearable. Incident 2: the current owner (which is different from the previous owner who was very professional and kind) called to inform me ... one week after dropping off my $500 dress ... to inform me that they couldn't clean my dress because I had dropped it off with bleach on it ... but that my other clothes were ready for pick up. To be clear I never dropped off my dress with bleach on it, and it was fully inspected by the staff member who accepted my dress at the time of drop off. To call me a week later ... after all the other clothes had been cleaned ... to tell me there's bleach on my dress ... felt suspicious. The current owner claimed "this was not her fault because she takes the feedback from the cleaning facility that she sends the clothes to". This is 100% the fault of Connell's Valet. They contract with the cleaning facility, therefore, they are responsible for their work. As a result, I simply don't feel comfortable trusting this business with my clothes. read more

This used to be my favorite cleaners. They were professional, reasonable, and paid attention to detail. The new owner's business practice are questionable at best. Four times I have dropped off clothes in the past few months and received back clothes that had marks, creases removed, and were improperly cleaned. I no longer trust this establishment with my clothes. In addition to diminished service and constant material mistakes they have the nerve to inflate their prices. If you want to pay more and receive subpar, problematic, and wasteful service this is the place. We've decided it is time to find a new dry cleaner in Vienna because this one is no longer suitable. It is strange to assume ownership of a previously well run business with great quality cleaning and pressing services and run it into the ground. I do not recommend. read more

The quality has dropped since the place changed hands most recently. After being overcharged for a bedskirt to getting a cashmere sweater returned with a huge black ink stain on it (and then having to argue about paying for the re-cleaning), I am shopping for a new dry cleaner. I went to the store for cleaning multiple times and 50% possibility that I met a friendly store member. However, they always forgot what I told them and made the suit looks bad. Last time, I remind them to keep the lapel roll deep to reach the first button with no pressing and no crease. However, it was completely disaster. The lapel was very high above the button, and hard pressed. I told them to redo it. When I came back for the second time, nothing changed and the staff told me that they already tried their best and refused to do anything. read more

I have been coming to Connell's Valet for about 15-years and since the ownership change, the quality has not been the same. I put a shirt on the morning and it is yet another one in must replace. On three occasions in the past month, shirts have been returned with black marks that cannot be removed. In addition, the shirts are not as well pressed as the previous owners were able to do. Wrinkled pockets, pressed in creases in the collars, etc. In the past I recommended this place to friends but no more. The only saving grace here is Rosa. I've seen her for years. read more

Having issues with the new owners not wanting to share their business license after they damaged items. Does anyone else have the same experience of them damaging items and not willing to share their business license for a claim? I find your response a very poor attempt to cover up the issue. You refused to show your business license. I showed you receipts proving my purchase as well as calling the store from which I purchased the items. I requested that the police be called and your failure and insistence on not communicating was what concerned me that you would not honor payment for damaged items. So although I appreciate you airing out your poor business practice I wanted to see if anyone else here had issues with your refusal to display a valid business license. read more

I miss the previous family owners. They were so sweet and they always went above and beyond, gave fair prices and clothes came back clean. Feels like the prices are now gauged and they are not made clear when they ask you when you want it back and you say sooner than they suggest. Previous owners never overcharged for this. Super rude woman behind the counter who dismissed it and said, "I don't know, maybe Monday" (three days later) in response to when they'd be ready. Rude staff + very slow to do basic dry cleaning. Quality has declined since new ownership. Owner lacks customer service and doesn't offer to resolve issues unless directly told to do so. Horrible new owner. Very sad because I lived here when the original owner, Dennis was alive and the people in the town loved him. He cared about the customers and new most of them. The woman that bought the business a year ago is dishonest and must be very cheap because I went in on a Saturday to pick up tailored pants and there was 12 people in line and she was the only one working the register. Lots of rolling of eyes in that line lol. I could not pick up the pants and this was my second trip because they were not tailored properly the 1st time. I went back yesterday and she charged me $130 for 3 pants. Initially when I dropped of the first two she asked seamstress what was being done and she told me they would be $35 each, The third pair had less to be done. Yesterday, I reminded her that she told me $35 each she denied ever saying that. A complete lie. I feel she charged more since they had to be re-done which is not my fault. Very rude incompetent person/ owner. I will dispute the extra charge with my bank simply on principle. They automatically charge the merchant $25 for processing whether i win or not so justice will prevail. read more

Great alterations. But as soon as you walk in, it is clear the staff does NOT want to be there. They never greet you. Act like you are an imposition. They never say thank you or even look up when speaking to you. When you ask them a question, they never answer, just shrug. I am a new customer and cannot believe the total lack of customer service . Been coming here for years and have had reasonably good service the entire time. They're efficient on intake and pickup, and recently I forgot my wallet bu they let me pick up my stuff ANYWAY! ... granted, they had my suit jacket to hold hostage, but still, I thought it was a nice thing to do. Now, the only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because it takes a little while to learn what to do. Here's some tips that will take what would otherwise be a 3-star experience and turn it into a 5-star experience. 1) Unless you love living in cardboard, ask for low starch. They can save that as a preference. 2) If you own shirts with substantial buttons (Brooks Brothers shirts being notorious for their buttony bravado), ask for "hand finish" Instead of getting them pressed. 3) Point out any stains. They'll mark them with red tape. And then, they'll get them right out. But if you don't point them out, you may go home with them. Overall they're reasonably fast with the cleaning, at least in my experience, and completely tolerant of my being very slow with the picking up. I appreciate the grace greatly. read more

Used to be 5-star but has gone downhill very quickly under new management. I get my shirts boxed, to make it easier to pack when I travel. Old management would put in five cleaned shirts per box when I picked them up. Shirts would be unwrinkled and neatly packaged when I took them out of the box. New management stuffed eight shirts into a box meant for five. "Cleaned" shirts are now shabby looking, wrinkled, collars bent. They packed the box like they couldn't care less what the shirts looked like when I took them out, just to save a few cents. If this keeps up I'll have to start going elsewhere. read more

Every item is individually processed and protected with cardboard inserts and tissue paper. No chemical smell or processing residue. Beautiful job with all my Italian linens that I thought could not be revived. Also, they only charged $3 to sew a seam up on my blazer. They even removed an ink stain that maple avenue cleaners missed in their service a couple weeks ago. I needed to get my wedding gown cleaned. Connells was recommended so even though I don't live close by, I decided to go there. The cost to clean the dress was over $200, which I find exorbitant, but since I don't know what this should cost, I agreed. They said they needed 30 days to clean the dress. That's a long time, but I figured it's a detailed process, so again I agreed. I returned today to pick up the dress, and was told it's not ready. I returned over a week AFTER the dress was supposed to be ready. No one called to notify me, and so I have now wasted nearly an hour of my day in the busy holiday season so I can go back a second time. I'm very frustrated and would not recommend this place. read more

Connell's does absolutely the best dry cleaning. There are rarely any dry cleaners in the area that discount will discount on women's clothing, and those that have provided discounts have ruined my clothes. My favorite thing about this place is that they they will put the cardboard body form into my dresses to keep their shape and the integrity of the ironing (otherwise, they get all wrinkled again, particularly if you wear tailored, fitted clothing with darts) it's hard to maintain If they don't do it for you, just request it. They don't charge extra for it. I know that they stopped doing it for some people who complained that the cardboard took up too much space. In any case, I LOVE and appreciate the extra effort. 1. Location: The dry cleaner is located on the left side of the Vienna Shopping Center and is next to the Vienna Rexall Drug Center. It is very easy to locate. There is an abundance of parking spaces in the front of the shopping center and on the left side as well. 2. Cleanliness: The place is very neatly kept. The fitting room is very clean and bright. I would use the fitting room on several occassions when I need to show Mai, the seamstress, the fit of the pants and preferred alternation markings. Mai and her husband keep the place nice and neat. 3. Service: Mai, her husband, Loc, and the entire team always go above and beyond to make sure your clothes are evenly pressed, clean, and well maintained. They have been in business for a very long time, and are extremely knowledgeable and kind. In addition to dry cleaning, Mai tailors clothes very well. She had hemmed many of my work pants and jeans. Furthermore, Mai and her husband are amazing at spot checking for stains and ensuring the removal of it. 4. Costs: The price is reasonable and subject to change based on the category of the clothes. These are just a few of the costs that I've incurred to dry clean, which do not cover the entire category in their system. Sport jacket - $5 Skirt - $4.95 Dress - $8.95 5. Overall experience: I am such a fan of this dry cleaner and the service here never fall short of expectations. Pretty unexceptional. At about $5 per item, this was not a "discount" cleaner like there are in the area for usually around $2/piece. I hoped that would translate to a better job. Unfortunately the creases on my pants weren't lined up, so now I have a double-crease doing down each thigh. Some of my items have had some threads loosened through some seemingly intense handling. Basically everything I'd expect from the cheapest spot around, which this is not. read more

Outstanding dry cleaner. Connell's does an exceptional job cleaning everything -- shirts, suits, even comforters. They are fast, fairly priced, and incredibly friendly. Plus, they have a hard candy bowl that has my kids actually asking me to take them to the cleaners with me. The tailoring, too, is top-notch (though full disclosure: i have only had pants altered; never a jacket). The only reason I am not giving out 5 stars is because they can be a little hard on shirt buttons, at times. That said, they gladly (and quickly!) repair any damaged buttons, and, honestly, the occasional lost button is a minor price to pay for such all-around exceptional service. They can even handle an oversized monster blanket that my wife made. The parking lot can be a little hectic and you sometimes have to wait for traffic to break enough to let you in. read more

Amazing quality every time, and such warm service. They saved my beautiful leather jacket here - who knew that it was possibly to remove HOT WAX stains from leather? These guys! Connell's are great! They are honest, reliable, and have done a great job with every peice of clothing I've brought in. Their prices are reasonable. One time, I brought in a dress and asked if I could replace the zipper. They suggested an alternative that would be cheaper. They put customers before money, and have an excellent, welcoming staff. I feel terrible for leaving a bad review for Connell's because the people there are SO nice. I have to find someone else to clean and press my husbands dress shirts because they are very inconsistent in their service. Sometimes I pick the shirts up and they are absolutely perfect. Other times I pick them up and they are rumpled and have pressed in wrinkles like me someone is pressing them when they are too wet. The last straw was this week. I picked up shirts and dropped the rest off. All of the shirts I picked up were a complete mess and unwearable. The rest are currently being cleaned so my husband ended up with absolutely NO shirts to wear the next day! This is the 3x this month! I don't have time to check every shirt I pick up and I shouldn't have to. Someone else should have already done that and corrected any mistakes. I will have the shirts redone but I will not take any more clothing there. Such a shame because their prices are great, the people are so sweet, and, when they do a good job, it is really good. I just need consistency in the quality of their work. read more

My sister in law has used their dry cleaning forever and loves it. I asked if she could do my wedding dress and she took the project on for 1/10 of the price as the bridal store down the street. It was an expensive gown and she cut the train and made the straps fit flawlessly and added a bustle. She is amazing and extremely talented and I couldn't of been happier. I'm looking for a new dry cleaner. My stuff gets damaged there, they don't pay any attention to special instructions and they don't know how to iron. When I tell them not to put in creases, there are creases. When I bring in soft blazers, the lapels never, ever match. And the customer service is really lacking. I'm 5'2" tall and my husband is 5'5". We are small folks. Once I came in to pick up our stuff and she brings out shirts and pants for a man who would be over 6 feet tall and over 200 pounds. I told her that was not my order and she just looked at me and said yes it is. I said not it's not and she wouldn't budge. Finally the manager came over and looked at the ticket and got the correct clothes for me. They run a terrible business there. read more

I've been to this place before and they do pretty good tailoring work - men's shirts are pretty cheap too. But I recently picked up a very nice textured shirt that I had dry-cleaned. I discovered there was a rip in the shirt before even taking it out of the dry-cleaning bag. I took it back and was told it must have been there before because of the rip (they only cause smooth rips....but since my shirt is textured with a mix of silk/synthetic and regular cottons in a pattern, I kind of doubt this explanation holds true). Basically, I was told that I was wrong, that there is 0% chance they did it, but that I could pay to have them try and fix the damage. So I will not be going back here again. Please know that they generally do a good job, but they take ZERO responsibility for your clothes. I nor my wife will be going back here, which is unfortunate. read more
