New Chandelier in entry way
Jessica K.

This place was so overwhelming but so happy we went vs going to Home Depot. Mind you- it's a lot more expensive but I feel if you're looking for a statement piece, there is no other way. We recently remodeled our home and given its new modern flare, we needed to update the polished brass light fixtures. We had a huge chandelier in the entry way, so we decided to head to CT Lighting to pick out something to stand out. The staff was incredibly helpful. They helped us make sure the piece would fit in our space and gave us recommendations. The sales people were not pushy and did not follow us around. When we were ready we found the lady who initially helped us and found our item in stock. They are in the middle of a big move, and our item was at another warehouse so they shipped for free :) couldn't be happier with our new light!

Overwhelming in the best possible way. My husband and I couldn't agree on light fixtures for our new house, and scrolling online could only get us so far (as far as visualization goes). The CT Lighting Centers showroom has a selection unlike anywhere I've seen in this area. From flush mounts and ceiling fans to pendants, sconces, outdoor fixtures, and elaborate chandeliers, it's a lighting wonderland that consumes every available square foot. While we haven't purchased anything major yet (only a circular bulb to replace in a broken fixture), I'm confident we'll be able to find something to fit our needs. Styles range from traditional to contemporary - lots of those fabulous mid-century drum pendants and sputnik lights that I love! Since there's such an enormous selection, prices vary wildly but the clearance deals are downright impressive.

Just visited their new store. An older woman with long dark hair looked up a product for me. She was impatient and condescending.

This wonderful old-school hardware store is close to my office. I like the fact that it's small and…read morefull-service. The owner and his employees are always here to help you. Big box stores leave me basically on my own. Their employees seem to sense when you need help and run away. I'm older and love full-service stores like this that remind me of a different time, before independent hardware outlets started to die off. (Remember full service pharmacies, too?!) Brace yourself for some little points that some may find annoying: the inventory is organized with no rhyme nor reason (that's why it's good to ask). For example, I recently was looking for ant traps. There is a display with mousetraps and traps/repellants for spiders, wasps and roaches. No ants. I turned around and was going for help and there, at the end of an aisle six feet away from the rest of the pest supplies, was a good variety of ant mitigation products (don't buy the little Raid traps, they were useless - I upgraded to a costly, elaborate alternative and it rid us of ants in our summer kitchen.) Finally, the owner has a lot on his plate. He can be abrupt - on the verge of grouchy. But he has a good heart and is never malicious. Just grouchy. The employees can be brief with words and cheerless, but they'll get you what you need and get you on your way rapidly. After all these caveats, a "plus:" they carry many of the latest items - you'll find stuff like the latest laser measuring tool, the hot colors in paint, LED lighting equipment including dimmers, and metric screws, nuts and bolts. Try them. If you like walking around an old-school Hardware "emporium," this is the place for you!

Ya know that little key fob you have for your car's key-less ignition?  Well there's a little disc…read moreof a lithium battery in there that doesn't last forever. And when it starts to wear out (if your car is like mine) you'll hear an angry beep and a flashing dashboard icon when you start up the car -signifying the end is near. So that's the reason I took my key fob into Carr hardware today, bought a 2-pack of the needed Energizer 2032 Lithium batteries (just $5.99), and saw the young man behind the counter pry open the tricky storage compartment on the fob and pop in a new battery. No need to go to the dealer and pay that big hourly labor rate. Carr did it for free. Seriously, the customer service was tremendous. As I walked around the aisles, I was greeted by three very friendly and courteous employees who asked how I was doing and could they help me find anything? The store is very cool, with all sorts of paint, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, garden, barbecue, and home supply gizmos. What a great alternative to the Big Box guys -go support local !!

Asked the male employee to complete the return section of their form, and to provide me with a receipt/documentation of the equipment's return. Employee flat-out refused to do either. Somehow it is OK to document the rental equipment leaving the store, but not its return. I did not expect to be in negotiations with this employee for such a simple request. At one point still without a receipt being provided, the employee stated to please leave the store, never come back to this store again, never buy anything here again. Know what, I will take that advice and never return to this store again. Lost Customer! Buyers beware at this establishment. "Worst in Class" Customer Service!
