The office assistant Evette does not open the store for most days and does not notify 'patients' when repaired items come in. In fact, in my case, she did not return my 8 calls over more than a week. This was the second time with a complete lack of communication. I foolishly gave them another chance, only to be betrayed again. The only reason I was able to make any contact with that branch was when I called the main office and spoke with corporate management, they have a secret number to reach that store, apparently that she will answer. The very helpful Kay from corporate headquarters looked up my file. As it turns out Evette got my date of birth wrong, (good thing they do not dispense drugs) but Kay corrected it and was able to look up my account. They knew for more than a week that my hearing aid was not repairable by Resound, and did not bother telling me in order for me to acquire an alternative for an extremely important Court appearance. Evette is clearly not interested in helping the customer but instead, is interested in figuring out when is her next break and getting out of work without returning any phone calls or emails from alarmed customers that realize they made a grievous mistake in entrusting Evette and Sonus to deal with this essential matter. Again, there are many fine and reliable places to obtain hearing assistance; maybe even other Sonus branches, but if you have a hearing aid need, NEVER entrust the careless and distracted Evette at the Sonus branch at E. Main Street in El Cajon for those needs. Since they do not keep regular business hours, sometimes not opening for days AND they do not return phone calls, dropping a hearing aid off with them for repair just means it is missing in a black hole with no way to contact them as to why it is taking so much longer than they said it would. If I had not called the corporate headquarters, it certainly begs the question, when, if ever, would they have called to let me know that fact that my hearing instrument would not be repaired and needs to be replaced. Clearly, why pay high prices for aggravation; it would be much better to go elsewhere that has competent people that care. High prices and remarkably poor communications and non-existent quality service are all Sonus on E. Main Street in El Cajon, has to offer.

Last straw was my hearing aids (Starkey, inferior product) fell apart. I called. Front desk lady said my warranty still applicable and I could get a replacement for a $50 copay. When I arrived for my appointment, the story changed completely! They couldn't honor the warranty and I needed to go to the manufacturer!! There was no explanation for the complete reversal of what I had been told....My advice, go to Costco. More professional, bigger range and better products, and they stand by their promises and warranties. AVOID SONUS & STARKEY!!

The hearing aids are so loud they distort sound and you hear your own voice. You go back several times, always a different explanation and always YOUR fault. The worst part is they are the ONLY company Kaiser uses. So I have lost my insurance $2000 and $1200 deductible. I am 89 years old and don't drive. So going back numerous times is very difficult. DON'T go there. Is a scam! I distrust an insurance that has only ONE provider. NEVER had an issue with the company I used to go to for years. Paid out of pocket to get a REAL hearing test by a doctor. Surprise, surprise, my hearing has NOT changed much since my last test a few YEARS ago. They have refused to do anything about this. I live on a modest pension and am isolated from the world without being able to hear. NOT right to pay for equipment the company or Kaiser does NOT stand behind.

    I received an auditory consultation today with Juli Lung @ Abbott Hearing Aid Center in La Mesa…read more This would be the second time I have done so (the first being last summer). As a point of reference, I have previously worked in the medical field for many years with clinicians in many fields, and have been on both sides of the equation, as both a caregiver and a care recipient. To me, Juli exemplifies what a medical professional should be. She clearly has an in-depth understanding of audiology and easily translates her knowledge to the client. She generously provides sufficient time to ensure the client understands both the nature of the examination and its interpretation as it relates to the client's concerns and needs. On a more personal level, Juli is friendly, caring, and helpful in explaining both the results of the hearing examination as well as her recommendations - including the pros and cons of each - for addressing the client's specific needs. Juli's review included not only the clinical exam and recommendations but also (at my request) any possible hearing aid purchase. Re the latter, Juli carefully explained not only the possible options but also the prices, trial periods, and warranties, as well as the advantages of each. I would add that her assistant, Boyd, was similarly friendly and helpful, explaining the necessary steps to begin the process as well as future interactions as may be needed. If you or a loved one is in need of a clinical consult re apparent hearing loss, I strongly recommend Juli Lung. She is an excellent example of a knowledgeable, yet friendly, caring, and helpful clinician.
