Was driving through the area on New Year's Day after playing at Pebble Beach Golf Club. I was craving a boba drink and came across this restaurant through Yelp reviews. Walking in, the restaurant had this great tropical ambiance and good music vibe. I was greeted with a warm smile from the server (Bea) and asked her for recommendations. She showcased the wide variety of boba selection and I went ahead and ordered my go-to Ube Boba drink for myself and the family. Looking around, I could just tell this restaurant is all about quality and great service. The kids and I enjoyed the boba drinks and we'll definitely come back again to try out the restaurant side. On a side note, we also tried out the Ube mochi donuts... OMGEEE all I have to say is, WOW! They were heavenly, especially when served fresh and warm. Stopped here for satay chicken. Walked in, quiet and owner was very pleasant and nice. Menu on screens with photos which was great if you need a visual. They serve boba and mochi donuts! We skipped the boba (not because we don't like boba, we wanted to stay within our budget at that time). We order the chicken satay and rice and a pork bahn mi. The chicken satay was marinated a little different than most satay (yellowish) chicken, but I liked the taste. My picky daughter loves satay chicken but this marinade just wasn't for her, which was ok. The pork bahn mi reminded me of my youth. It's tastes & made like the traditional bahn mi with the cured pork slices and liver spread. I enjoyed it. I subtracted 1 star because of the rice. A spot of the rice was dried. I picked it off and the rest was fine, but for feedback, make sure your rice doesn't have dried/crusted rice mixed in the bowl. All in all, nice spot for traditional food. So my family went to visit my SIL in Marina and stumbled upon this place. It has the most authentic, fresh and modern takes on Cambodian food. It was flavorful, homey and service was great. We got the Phò, red curry soup, chicken fried rice, popcorn chicken, furikake fries and fried tofu. If you don't know what those are you need to order them to find out. We appreciated the service. My daughter has a peanut allergy and even though most of their food didn't have peanuts they were mindful and made sure no peanuts were in the food. Their boba is home made and so it is on the sweater side but the texture is on point. We discovered this place on our way back from some sightseeing looking for some lunch. When we walked in it was pretty empty, save for a couple who just finished their meal and some people who came in after us. The place was clean, bright, and super welcoming. Their bathrooms were clean as well. The lady at the counter was so nice, kind, and friendly. She gave us really helpful suggestions and description for different options, and after we ordered she offered to put together some tables for our party of 5. They had a bunch of different flavors of mochi donuts which looked super good, I regret not trying at least one. We ended up choosing the Cambodian dry noodle, Congo rice bowl, Cambodian seafood broth noodle soup, and the Cambodian fresh salad with asian vinaigrette to which we added tofu as our protein. Everything we ordered was so flavorful and delicious. The portions were also pretty big. Among the 5 of us, we still had a decent portion of each of the four dishes leftover which we took home. We so, so badly wanted to like this place. When I saw some of the reviews I thought why not try it and my daughter and I went today and got the yuzu lavender tea with boba and the brown sugar milk tea with boba. Both the tea itself had good flavor...we were just really disappointed with the boba. It was over cooked and mushy which we were both disappointed about since we both like the chewy texture of boba balls. We also tried the egg rolls, calamari, and the beef on a stick. So the calamari was amazing!!! Definitely liked the calamari the best. The egg rolls was a different story... they had a very strong, almost plastic like smell and taste to them. We looked inside the egg roll to see what was in it and to be honest, we couldn't make out the filling. Usually you can see the vegetables like cabbage or sprouts or the meat but this one was just a mushy brown filling with nothing distinguishable in it. We both took a bite and spit it back out due to the weird taste and texture. The beef on the stick tasted ok. It was a bit overcooked or like maybe they cooked it in advance and recooked it once ordered. The flavor was good. Almost like a lemongrass and soy sauce taste to it. The staff member was so so nice and sweet. We really wanted to like it and come back for more... but I don't think we will be. Shucks! We love boba tea and was really hoping for a winner. I am giving 3 stars because the service was awesome and the flavor of the tea was good (just boba texture was off) The food was iffy. lol. Just popped in as I was in the neighborhood to try this new spot I hadn't seen before. I was welcomed by Bea who was the part owner with her sister and she was so sweet! I wanted to try the taro milk tea with Boba and I was looking to try the Chinese donut. She said they ran out but suggested I tried the Louisiana beignets which was an excellent suggestion since I have just come back from Louisiana and was missing some beignets. There is not a place around that makes them that I'm aware of so I happily agreed. One order consists of six beignets. They were very good not doused with powdered sugar like they do in Louisiana, which I was totally fine with. They were perfectly fried, not greasy at all and the right amount of sweetness. The taro milk tea I asked to not be too sweet and she made it just the right amount of a perfect medium blend of not too sweet. It comes in a very cool container that turns it into a clear can that you can pop open like a soda pop can--very convenient for on the go. I chatted with her for a little bit and she was so nice and explained her and her sister wanted to open a place that served a different variety of Asian foods not offered here. I couldn't agree more as we are lacking a lot of Asian food diversity here. And she commented that she wants to offer things that people might normally have to drive to San Jose to get. So thank you to them for not making me make that drive ! The shop was very cute and I liked the little leaf lanterns inside. It should be a cool little spot to hang out or grab a quick bite to eat on the go.
