The poster on their window is misleading. It shows $4 and $7 for small and large drinks, respectively, but the poster inside the store shows they are actually $5 and $8. My friend and I got ube milk tea with boba and taro milk tea (both the large size). My taro milk tea did not taste like taro. It just tasted like sugary milk. Their menu poster states they use fresh ingredients but they didn't even use fresh milk. While drinking, both of us said that the drink tasted grainy, not smooth. Once I finished the drink, I could see from the remains at the bottom that they used powdered milk. Very disappointing. Their drink sizes are small for the price and low quality. They're served in plastic "cans" with aluminum lids like soda cans. That is probably what makes these drinks cost more. I would rather they put more of the cost I'm paying into giving me more of the drink than paying for the "can". One pro is that it's a decent place to hang out and chat. They do have a few wall outlets available (though not at every table). But I can go to other places to hang out. So I won't be coming back here. read more

This is seriously my favorite Cambodian restaurant in the area. Thea and Bea are super friendly as well as their staff. Their boba is made in the house (just like all their food), and at first it would trip me out because it didn't look like regular boba, but then they explained to me that it was made with no harsh chemicals and just natural ingredients. Recommending this restaurant doesn't make it justice, tell your friends! If they're looking for authentic Cambodian food look no further! I'm always looking for good boba and decided to give this new place in Seaside a go. Their menu has several food and drink options that sound delicious. I ordered a yuzu lavender green tea with boba, and my partner ordered a taro milk tea with boba. Our drinks were served in a cup that resembles a can. I thought it was kind of cute and different, but when I got to the end of the drink it was hard to get the last boba out since the lid was completely sealed. The drink itself was pretty good, very floral and fresh with a little tang. The taro in my partner's drink was creamy and lightly sweet without the powderiness that some places have. The boba though? Not so great. I think it was hand made, which would be really cool if it were done better. The sizes were varied (some large boba and many tiny boba that don't go up the straw), the color was light beige, the texture was somewhat chewy but a little starchy in the center of larger pieces, and it was pretty much tasteless. Some honey or brown sugar might help. Overall, I did enjoy the drink, I just think the boba could use work. I would go back and try some other items on the menu, looks like it has potential. Aside from the food/drinks, the ambiance is kind of cute, they tried to keep it to a jungle theme.They were playing jungle beats lofi music when we went. Congo Go is a cute new spot nextdoor to Chase Bank. Service is super friendly and helpful. Interior is clean and cute. Way bigger than I expected with 8 tables inside. Food is delicious. They might have the best calamari I have had on the peninsula. Tender calamari with a light crispy batter. Absolutely scrumptious. Furikake fries are tasty and a huge hit with my kids. Crab Puffs were a little sweet but pretty typical cream cheese style puffs. Chicken satay was well cooked but lacking in flavor and the dipping sauce wasn't quite strong enough to compensate for the char so it was a little underwhelming. The turkey and cheese pastry was my husband's favorite because it was a little sweet and nostalgic. Ube latte was good but I couldn't taste the ube and it is not for anyone who likes sweeter drinks. I like that they make their own Boba pearls dye free. The aloe pieces were a little too big for the straws but otherwise tasty. First time trying this place and it was so good. I went with a few friends and we each ordered a few things off the menu. Calamari flavorful and crunchy. Love it with their sweet chili sauce. You can tell the sauce was made from scratch and not bottled. Popcorn chicken has a really good flavor and crunchy. I like how the popcorn chicken pieces are small and bite sized. Brussels sprouts look, I'm not a fan of Brussels sprouts so this was my friend's order. Since it was my first time, I tried them and YUMMM! Soft but had a bit of crunch still and loaded with flavor. Chicken Satay Delicious and had tons of flavor. You could taste all the different herbs and spices used. Mochi Donuts Such a good price for 6 mochi donuts! So expensive at other mochi donut places. We got churro, strawberry, strawberry cheesecake/crumble, Oreo, and matcha. They were all really good. Perfect mochi chewy consistency and the flavors were perfect, not too sweet and tasted natural. Beignets Super yummy! So addicting! They were good just by themselves without a dipping sauce but the sauce does elevate it. Noodle I forgot what the noodle dish was called but it was flavorful and spicy just how I like it! Lao sausage Herby flavor and not too sweet like other lao sausages that I've had. Drinks Green Apple Kiwi with lychee jelly-it was good, has a natural sour taste and hint of sweetness from the homemade lychee jelly I added in the drink. Tea of the day, Mango Green Apple with lychee jelly. This was my favorite drink I got. I liked it more cause it was a bit sweeter from the mango and lychee jelly. I made my first trip to Congo Go, but it won't be my last. It's cute inside, and has more seating than I expected. The ladies who run things are kind and helpful. I asked about portion sizes and was told they were medium - neither small nor large; I found this to be spot on. One of the things I ordered was the fried cauliflower, and it was enough for a meal plus a light snack for one. I also ordered chicken sate, beef sate, and beignets. The satés are three decent-sized skewers - fair for the price. The beignets are on the small side but there are six of them, so again good for the price. Next time I go I'll try the S.E.A. iced coffee with condensed milk, which I assume is their version of Thai or Vietnamese iced coffee, and will get the bloomin' onion and/or the wrapped shrimp. The teas didn't interest me much as I prefer fruit teas and lemonades like Chopstix offers. If they add to their tea/lemonade repertoire I'd probably find something. Everything was well-packaged, no spills, put in a handled bag for me. One thing I think most people will want to be aware of is that unlike most places that serve similar foods, no sauces come with anything. They have several sauces to choose from, but they all cost 50 cents (more for chocolate sauce). This keeps their costs down, but it's not the norm, where even fast food places include at least one sauce, sometimes two, free. Those assuming peanut sauce comes with saté - not here - they don't have it at all. I wasn't overly excited about the mild sweet chili sauce I chose. But honestly, considering the quality and the prices, just get yourself some peanut sauce and the sweet chili sauce of your choice at the grocery store and you're set. Definitely worth a trip to check out. If they do fried bananas I'd be there once or twice a week, LOL. read more

What a gem hidden on the corner in Seaside. Warmly greeted on entering and helpful staff assisted in ordering. This is counter order and food brought to the table which adds to the casual and chill vibe. Had the onion bloom. Did Outback steal this from Asian cuisine or is it a clever theft here? Nicely bloomed and lightly breaded, the onion was tasty and not the least bit greasy. It's almost as if it were air fried. It was a bit hard to eat with the plastic utensils (more on that later). On to the pho which is a Cambodian version of the more familiar Vietnamese beef broth soup. The only noticeable differences are the lack of star anise in this version and the prominence of the roasted garlic. As a result, this pho is less sweet but not to its detriment. The pho has the usual rare beef, tripe and tendon as well as meatballs. There is a very generous serving of noodles. The broth is very flavorful and not at all greasy. I had the large bowl, my partner had the regular. We could have done nicely with large for the two of us. We will order one large and share next time, adding one of the appetizers. I had an iced Vietnamese coffee, which others here have rightly praised. The coffee and other drinks are served in a plastic container with a pop tab, but with fresh ice. CG must have a can maker in the back. About those utensils -- CG is designed for carry out. As a result, plastic forks, knives and spoons -- though the pho does come with a metal spoon. Chop sticks are available and they are fine. It would be nice if CG got some regular utensils for dining in. In any case, the food is delicious and the vibe is, well, bobalicious. read more

We absolutely love this place! The drinks are amazing! The food is outstanding! The desserts are delicious! Everything we have tried has been mouthwatering!! We actually drive in from Salinas to eat here every week or two cos it's so good. We have tried so many things and never been disappointed. The sausage, rice and kimchi plate blew my wife and me away. The sausage was seasoned and cooked to perfection and the kimchi added the perfect touch. The fried calamari blew us both away and we loved the sauce. The fried tofu had just the right seasoning and was the best tofu I've ever had. I didn't even use the sauce - didn't need it haha. The Japanese cheesecake is outstanding and I don't really like cheesecake much but this is really good. And the drinks are so good that we drink a couple while we eat there and then order some more to go. We have given the strawberry milk tea to a few friends and they were raving about them. Overall are so many flavors and the sugar level can be adjusted which is an option I've never had anywhere else. I try to watch my glucose intake so I appreciate this a lot. My wife and I normally do not like boba and usually don't get it but theirs is different. It's homemade and delicious! The staff are down to earth, easy to talk to. Just ask them about the specials or drinks and they are more than willing to help. They will chat with you and make you feel comfortable which is always nice. A brand new casual eats and milk tea shop that opened in Seaside recently. I love Asian street food and tea drinks, so I was really excited. I'm happy to say they exceeded expectations! I tried the satay, popcorn chicken, and their asian ceviche special for Cinco de Mayo. It was all really tasty and reminded me of browsing a street market for tasty treats! The first time I had Cambodian food it was made by some refugee friends of ours. I have never been to a Cambodian restaurant before, but let me tell you, it tasted like home cooking to me! I've always wanted to try banh mi, and theirs was an excellent introduction. Based on the staff recommendation I went with beef and it was excellent. The house made bread, pate, and vegetables were to die for. My wife's chicken satay was very good, and my son's beef fried rice portion was huge! The owner was very nice, and we encouraged her to open a location in Hollister someday. We sure need more good food where we live. The capstone, the coup de gras for me, was the Vietnamese coffee! I fell in love with Vietnamese coffee 20 years ago and I've been chasing that first experience ever since. This is hands down the best one I've ever had. I can't recommend Congo Go! enough. We really wanted to like this place. Based on all the good reviews our expectations were high. But We were really disappointed. First she told us about all their drink specials and bottled water. We don't order drinks at places like this, we're here for the food. So we waited for free water for our table which came in small plastic cups with no ice. I really like ice in my water. We ordered 2 specials. I always get noodles on the side of pho, she looked at me like I was crazy lol. They gave us the tiniest about of sides I'd ever seen. The lime was brown and dry, no juice. I asked for more, tiny amount again. Now we're feeling like they're being stingy with everything. When My friend asked what was in the special she said lots of broccoli and some carrots well it was the opposite of that. There was hardly any broccoli and lots of carrots. When she finally came to check on us she asked me how the pho was and I told her the broth was pretty salty. She got a little defensive and said well it's bone broth. Yes I know that, I make bone broth from scratch too. She left and a few minutes later she came back with a small bowl of chicken broth and said here maybe this will make it less salty and it did, I appreciated that, extra star for that. She must have went to the kitchen to taste their broth. Overall we felt the portions were on the smaller side and the service was just OK. I dont like plastic utensils much either.
