Devil beef short rib biryani with all the fixings
    Rochelle C.

Massive portions including a good amount of meat. Found the meat to be overcooked (tough) and food overall too salty. However, for the price and diverse menu selection, I would come back to try other items. I've also been following them on Instagram for a few years and the owner seems to have good head on his body. Very passionate about his food, transparent on food prices, making his food affordable, uber fees, etc. It's a great account to follow if you like to see behind the scenes of a restaurant with personal notes.

They do Indian & Indian-fusion comfort food. The rolls are snack sized & snack priced. They're bigger than spring rolls. Cheeseburger roll had a lot of beef & cheese & no filler. Mac & cheese (mutton) had tasty curry mutton. Butter chicken was tasty but was mostly potato with a couple of chicken chunks. All 3 were crispy, fresh & tasty. Devil BBQ dip was good - spicy BBQ. Cookie dough roll was good: it had a cake texture. Mango shake was good. It had a rich mango flavour with real mango in it (some solids). The ice cream on top was lousy though: it had some ice crystals & a pedestrian flavour.

I get confused really easy especially when I have to decide what to order. Choices and more choices? Poutine? Mac n Cheese? Fusion Wraps/Burgers? Or should I go for the tradition? Confused Kitchen does have a confusing menu. Sri Lankan Fusion is confusing good. I love their different options. For my first time, I ordered something familiar. Chicken Biryani ($9.99) and Mutton Roll ($1 each). The Mutton Roll so good, stuffed with filling and has a kick of spiciness. The wrapping is just perfectly crispy but with some chewiness. Eating that was a little confusing? Chicken Biryani has a lot of sides! Even a chicken leg. I love the salad that give the plate some freshness. Sadly the chicken leg was really dry. The rice though was the star! Chunks of chicken meat and bold spices. A lot of flavours. I personally would just eat that and salad and I would be happy. Spicy is good. Spicy is yummy. Please enjoy your food if you like that complex flavours of spices. And if you cannot take the heat, I think you might not enjoy the food as much as I would.

Tried the Mutton roll and mac and cheese roll. First off, seems like everything is fried fresh to order, which can be a good or bad thing. Hopped in to grab a quick snack of 2 rolls ($1 each), and ended up waiting 10 minutes for them to prepare. Doesn't seem that bad unless you compare it to the average southeast take out store that has mutton rolls sitting in a display case for a quick grab and go. Now lets talk food. Mutton roll was good. Nothing too special but gets the job done. The mac and cheese roll I would say isn't my fave... Kind of a bland taste to it and I was hoping there'd be just a bit more flavour. Overall, was a little underwhelmed by the experience.

3.5 STARS I came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch a couple of weeks after the opening. At first when you walk in here, you'll see seating for about 6 people and some cool artwork on the walls. Even their menu is drawn on the wall behind the cashier. The owner was friendly and welcoming and answered all our questions before we ordered. We ordered : The Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich with Pepper Sauce - this was pretty good, I got the regular bun. Not realizing it was a kind of heavier egg based bun. It was a fried chicken breast tossed in their signature Pepper Sauce with a cool and creamy coleslaw. I really liked the combination bid the flavours and textures of this burger, but I feel since there were so many sauces going on, that the bun couldn't handle it and really got soggy by the end. Buttermilk Chicken Strips ( not currently on the menu ) - these were just okkk, I can kind of see why they've taken them off the menu. They weren't exactly strips, but more like boneless chicken wings . The breading on them was also pretty thin and lacked any "crispness". The Veggie Burger with cream cheese and spinach - my sister who is vegetarian ordered this and I had the chance to try it. It was honestly really tasty! It is a black bean based patty that has a great flavour and isn't too moist. The patty also pairs really well with the spinach and cream cheese. But I felt it was also missing some sort of sauce. They had the option to add ketchup, mustard or relish, but none of these seemed to pair well with this burger so we actually poured some Pepper sauce on top of the burger and it did the trick. I think this burger would taste amazing if they had a garlic mayo or even the pepper sauce with it to really elevate it. Their signature Pepper Sauce is really good. It's kind of a mix of Peri Peri & Buffalo sauces. I would definitely reccomended trying it. all the items came with a can of pop and fries. Pretty good value for what you get. Overall it was a pretty great first experience, if you're planning on going here, I would reccomend coming here for a quick lunch or takeout.

Tried it for the first time and really liked the mac and cheese and chicken rolls! Definitely worth the visit! I also had the biriyani which was good and ordered the deviled chicken on the side which I didn't like, it was too much dark meat (maybe cartilage texture), the taste for me was off putting.

Butter chicken poutine + mac n cheese rolls

We had the mutton biryani, butter chicken poutine and mac & cheese rolls. Everything was delicious! The biryani comes with a tandoori chicken leg which is great for excessive meat eaters aka my bf. It was a bit too spicy for me but my bf loved every bite. Butter chicken poutine is 1 of my favorites and this was spot on. Mac n cheese roll was divine. Thank you for the delicious food and staying open!

This would probably be considered good if it were downtown. The price to food ratio is good and it's super clean. In Scarborough, I would say I've definitely had better Sri Lankan food. To start with, we ordered the Kothu Roti with mutton, the Chicken Briyani, one of all of the rolls and also a Mutton Curry. Unfortunately they got our order wrong and gave us a Kothu Roti with Chicken and a Mutton Briyani. :(( Here's a breakdown of everything we got: Mac and Cheese Roll: DO NOT GET THIS. So weird and there was no cheese flavour in the Mac and Cheese. It tastes like plain pasta with panko. It's only $1 but I still wouldn't get it again. Cheeseburger Roll: Doesn't taste like cheeseburger. Maybe if it had some pickle or cheeseburger dressing on it, it would taste more like a cheeseburger. Since it doesn't, it was pretty much ground beef with cheese in panko. Mutton Roll: Too much filler not enough mutton. For $1, it's not bad but I would be willing to pay a little extra for it if it had more mutton. Chicken Roll: Nothing special but not horrible either. Worth $1 for sure. Kothu Roti (Chicken): I liked how they served it with an egg and the portion size is super generous. With that being said, this is not the best roti you can get in Scarborough. The flavour lacks the depth of typical Sri Lankan food and it could have used more spice and seasoning. Mutton Briyani: The tandoori chicken with the briyani was good but a little dry. Because the proteins in briyani are cooked with the rice, I expect super juicy proteins and all the rice to soak up the flavour. My bf liked the fish cutlet but I think it was too much potato, not enough fish. With that being said, the cutlet was nice and crispy and cooked perfectly. Overall, lots of potential here but there is definitely room for improvement. They've got great portion sizes and prices and as an "intro to Sri Lankan food" joint - it's perfect but if you're looking for that nice authentic mom and pop's Kothu Roti, this isn't your jam.

Warning for people who don't eat too spicy - food is authentic Sri Lankan spicy. Not that it is a bad thing, because I always appreciate unapologetically authentic food. The warning is for curious diners who usually tolerate the spiciness level as defined by Western chained restaurants. With that out of the way, I must say I enjoyed the food. The mutton roti and tandoori chicien rice were richly flavoured and smelled wonderful. I loved the spices and herbs in the rice and roti. There were different types of spices that generated a complex mix of flavours. The tandoori chicken leg itself was well marinated and not dry. The portion was huge. It took us a few days to finish the leftover of the 2 orders. The spices and chili continued to marinate the rice over time, and the food went from mild (Sri Lankan level of mild) to spicy on the last evening. I was told they can make a sweet version of the tandoori rice, which I would definitely opt for next time. And yes, there will be a next time. Not only did I enjoyed the food, I appreciated the friendly services of the cashier/owner. For the record, he did recommend us to order the sweet version of tandoori chicken, we were just too curious to take his advice.

I've been seeing this pop up all over my feed and so I had to try it for myself. It's a small take out place, with maybe maximum of 8 seats. After we ordered it took about 20 mins for our food to come. The menu they have listed on the board doesn't have the exact ingredients, but luckily the person infront was there to explain everything. I mostly went for the mac and cheese rolls but they unfortunately ran out on a Saturday night. I ordered the creme cheese veggie burger, the mac and cheese and the mutton poutine. The veggie burger was very good. Usually Im not a fan of burgers when the patty is soft - this was definitely an exception. The creme cheese and spinach came together so nicely, the texture was absolutely perfect. I loved all the Sri Lankan spices that were used. It wasn't spicy at all, which I was glad for since I have a low tolerance level. I didn't get it with a meal which was perfect since the burger itself was filling. The mac and cheese was really good as well, super cheesy. The mutton poutine was filling and portion was huge, I ended up eating it throughout two days. It was on the spicier level and I wish I was warned beforehand so I could've mentioned to lessen the spice. The taste was very unique, having mutton and cheese together was something I've never had and I liked it alot!

Menu, February 2019. Ask about their mutton rolls. Seriously, ASK!

I'm leaving this review for the amazing mutton rolls that are at this joint!! I am literally sitting at home on my bed after grabbing some for takeaway, and typing out this review to tell you all! Confused Kitchen also has biriyani, burgers, other finger foods so you definitely have a lot of choice. There's also authentic hot sauces you can buy from there as well. Small space, there are only a few tables there, definitely won't knock them for that. It's how you find hidden gems. Be prepared to be patient with parking, there's quite a few businesses and not as many spaces as there should be. Okay... now back to the mutton rolls! The filling inside is flavourful, the right amount of spice. The outside is crispy, but also soft enough that you can tell that they're fresh. Not stale or left out, or an old batch. $1 each, you absolutely cannot go wrong. My former go-to place is much farther, more expensive and they simply just don't hold a candle to how these taste! Hands down best mutton rolls in the city, not an exaggeration! Will be back to try other stuff, especially the biriyani and the burgers. I'm confused, how did I not find this place before?!

The basics: hidden little gem offers bold menu featuring Sri Lankan fusion food with brilliant gourmet burgers, generous offerings of meat in the curries, a colourful spice and sauce bar, trendy decor, great customer service... and a lot of kick! This unique spot has just two small tables (so it's mostly takeout) and limited hours (so check before you come... opens 4 pm Tues - Fri, open late mornings on Saturday, closed Monday and Sunday as of this writing) Looking forward to trying the biryani, kothu roti, and catering services in the future. WHAT I GOT: mutton bacon cheeseburger, mutton roll, mutton curry (medium) WHAT I LIKED: all of it. Burger was great, curry had amazing kick, and the roll is amazing value WHAT I WONDER: are there washrooms? do they cater burgers? some reviews mentioned combos with a pop, but I didn't see it... some burger pictures have a double patty and I gotta figure out what those are. WHAT I'LL TRY NEXT: biryani or kothu roti, and another burger I swung by on a Saturday evening and arrived right before a line up started - great timing. I got a trendy, comfortable vibe. The menu is written in chalk fairly neatly, but keep in mind they've got it written on two walls - so you have to look around a bit. TJ the owner is very approachable. At one point, he came out of the kitchen to describe and recommend different dishes to another customer. The customer later asked for him again to clarify a dish and he came right out to do so - solid stuff. Me? I knew I was going to get a burger... But I ended up going for a curry and roll as well, because mutton done right is one of the tastiest meats ever. As it stands, no regrets. MUTTON BACON CHEESEBURGER: my only critique is that it is a bit messy and the kick of the mutton overwhelms the cheese... But by golly is it tasty. The mutton will fall apart but you can get a fork from the sauce bar to finish up. Tender and juicy. Delicious. TJ recommended limited toppings on it as it's already pretty big to begin with, so I just had the lettuce. I'd probably throw in a few more toppings next time just to see. At $8.99, it's better value than any other gourmet burger around. MUTTON CURRY: $5 for a medium, which could realistically be shared with two people (but it doesn't come with rice). This is a solid amount of spice... But more than that, it's a superb portion of meat. I poured half of the curry in with rice and thought to myself "wow, ample protein!" figuring they loaded all the mutton at the top. The next day, I poured some of the curry into spaghetti and... Out came more chunks of meat. Huzzah!!! MUTTON ROLL: $1. Value! Will be trying the biryani or kothu next. The price points for those are slightly higher than that of the legendary Gasa, but if the quality and portion sizes of the other dishes are any indication, it will be worth it

Rating: 4.0/5.0 A recently opened Sri Lankan fusion joint caught my attention with their raving reviews here so I decided to try it out. I personally love exploring different ethnic foods especially ones serving up bold flavours with some good heat. This place certainly fits that description and more. Not only do they serve up some traditional dishes but also incorporates it into other items such as burgers and poutines. I ordered the mutton biryani which also came with a large chicken leg, side salad, fish ball and an egg. Everything was flavourful and the chicken leg was juicy. At $10.99 this is a great deal and will definitely last you a couple meals. We also tried the deviled short ribs. It definitely had a nice kick and the portion size was certainly nice for $15.99. The place is fairly small with only a couple small tables so I recommend you prepare yourself to go there for takeout.
