Ask them a few questions that 'only those who know would know'-- If they say they've been measured recently and know their size with surety, don't belittle them or keep trying to prove them wrong. Checking in and asking to try on a couple bras felt like the Great Inquisition. I get that they need to ask some questions, but if I know how to answer them & have all of my recent measurements, can I just try on a damn bra please--without being treated like I'm lying or like you need to condescendingly pat me on the head & prove that I don't know what I'm talking about? I am 48 years old and have been measured for bras by professionals and myself (using the abrathatfits calculator on reddit, which is a much more complete & invasive measurement than any bra store will do) multiple times over the years, including less than a month ago. I know what my size was 5 years ago, and I know what my new size is now. I know my UK size & my US size. I know what type & shape of cups & material fit me best and what types don't. I also have very projected, omega shaped bre@sts, which are difficult to fit on the underside. Almost never will a wire sit directly in my inframammary crease, unless the bra is custom made for me. I get that you don't want to waste customers time, want to prevent frustration, and also don't want to possibly damage your inventory...but if I know *exactly* what I need, can I please just try it without having to prove myself or be forced to have you measure me? I swear I am here to actually buy (very expensive) bras from you, not waste either of our time. Not all of us are bra novices. Some of us do actually know what we're talking about, after having to deal with our own giant tatas for the past 35 years. I vaguely remember this happening the last time I visited them at their old location too, I bet it was this same person. The second employee who helped me had a much softer, much friendlier "bedside" manner, and to be honest, I wish she'd been the one to greet me from the start, because the interaction with her left a much better taste in my mouth. Tbh I'm actually hesitant to even go in there again after how it went today, even though I walked out with some bras that fit very well in the size I originally requested. I decided to give Soma Intimates a chance because a friend of mine told me that the bras fit much better and even though a person would pay more for a bra, that bra would last longer, and they have a much classier selection. Victoria's Secret in the 90's, use to carry very classy looking nightgowns and very conservative looking attire. Now everything looks like something a hooker might wear to meet her Jon. Soma is the complete opposite. Everything is very beautiful and very well made. Yes, you're going to have to pay more for a nightgown, and the bras are about the same price as Victoria's Secret, but they are much better quality. The first time that I entered the store I was somewhat clueless because at that point I had no idea what size I wore, or what to look for, or where to find it? The salesgirl asked me to put on a pair of pajamas and she took me in the back and measured me. She proceeded to pull out twenty different bras and she told me to try all of them on and find out which one I liked the best. Unfortunately, she thought I was much bustier than I actually am, and none of the bras fit correctly. She didn't care, and grabbed the same bras in a smaller size. I tried on one bra (the balconette bra,) and it was incredible. Not only is it beautiful and classy looking, but it fits very well. You do not need any sort of push up bra like Victoria's Secret likes to push on women to make them feel inadequate. I was so taken with this bra that I actually bought another one in a different color. They have a wide arrange of women's underwear that are perfect for women of all ages. I believe that at any age a woman should feel sexy, and Soma is good about making women of all ages feel sexy about themselves. Just recently I bought a nightgown at Soma and yes it was expensive but I didn't mind because I don't spend a ton of money on nightgowns and I was taken with the way the nightgown was made and how it looked on me. I've tried on certain nightgowns that looked really awful, but this one was a very good fit. I wouldn't say that I would frequent Soma all of the time because I could end up spending quite a bit of money if I didn't control myself, but I will allow myself to go there on special occasions, or if I need to find a bra for a specific outfit that I've purchased. I must say that the customer service at the Watters Creek location is fantastic and I can't express how grateful I am toward the woman who waited on me when I needed the balconette bra. She was very patient and she took the time to actually find something that was flattering for my figure. I was also dealing with my Mother being very ill and in a coma at the time, and I needed some retail therapy to clear my mind, and I had a fun time looking at nightgowns and trying on pajama's and bras. I typically don't enjoy trying on lingerie or bras, but the salesgirl made it an enjoyable experience. So thank you Soma at Watters Creek for your wonderful customer service, and keep it classy!
