After a random shutdown my computer refused to turn on for days. No lights, sounds, anything. I gave up and reached out to The Computer Room. I am sure this sounds to good, but I have never had a more honest costumer service interaction in my life. Please let me explain. If they aren't there and you leave a message, they will reach out to you by phone, text or email ASAP. I dropped off my computer by appointment and was personally greeted and helped. Within 24 hours I had a picture of my working computer in my text messages with a surprise note: she had only turned it on. Idk how, but it was working again and the computer room didn't want any money as she felt nothing had been done. Who does this these days!? The first time I came in I had a horrible virus and they were able to save most of my information and it was clean. I arrived wanting a solid state hard drive for a friend's laptop. The cost of the hard drive was a little more than 2.5x higher than the cost from Amazon. I walked out and got the drive from Best Buy. Ordinarily I wouldn't count off so much for the price but while I patiently waited to ask about the price I listened to someone troubleshooting a woman's laptop and it was obvious to anyone who understands laptop repair that he was taking advantage of someone who didn't understand computers. The woman had a virus (diagnosed by him) and the solution (he said) was a new hard drive... which is overkill for a virus. read more

I have been going to the Computer Room since it's old location. I have known Kara and some of the others here for at least 8 years. I used to go there a lot more often than I do now to buy computer components in building computers. In recent days I have lost interest and they have gotten more competition from box stores like Micro Center and have cut down on their available component stock. These guys and gals that work here are awesome! They are super friendly and so honest! We had to take my husbands iphone in because it stopped charging and we were hoping to get it fixed at a low cost and they really came through! The gal who works on phones found that the charging area was just really dirty and wasn't able to connect. She cleaned it for us and made sure his phone would charge and wanted us to pass along how great they are to our friends! Phone fixed (cleaned!) for the low cost of a donation to their coffee fund. I dropped off a Nintendo 3dsxl to get the top screen replaced and was told that the lady would be able to start it on Monday when she came back to work and it would take about a week to fix it and get it back. After two weeks I gave them a call since I hadn't heard anything back yet, all I got was excuses about how only one person was trained for "hard tasks". I tried to be understanding but they continuously put my ds to the side and worked on other things for bigger clients such as businesses that pay them more. After 4 weeks I was told that a component on it was "worn out" and they were going to charge me for something they had broken. I got the call today that my ds was finally fixed after a whole month of waiting. I went in to pick it up and the man at the register didn't apologize or offer a discount or any sort of compensation for anything, the month long wait or that they broke my component. I paid for my parts and the service at full price and I will NOT be coming back again. I would not recommend them unless you enjoy giving money to greedy lazy slobs. read more

i recently went in to see about getting a very old computer fixed. the guy waiting on me was vey nice. i knew that it was not worth fixing but you can't tell the old dad nothing. my dad's plan was to fix i and give it to my nephew. the guy at the computer room called it cruel. which it is kinda, but all my nephew does is youtube videos. i would give more stars had i actually had anything fixed. but the guy was really nice about at least trying to find a used that he could put in the obsolete computer. other than the screen there is nothing wrong with the computer. read more

Kara, I know nothing is full proof in the ever changing world of platforms and software. I was hesitant some years back when I started bringing my computers to you. About 4 years ago, I let you set up my Lenovo T500 laptop and starting using the free malware software you installed. I have to say, when I bring it in for problems I incurred on myself, on the internet, everything was solved and I'm back to using my laptop. The developers who write these free programs are the best. I'll say it again, I was skeptical about the free virus checkers and such. My job paid for my McAffee and I could see no good reason not to use it. But as time went on, it caused problems with all it's extra free stuff! I like your honesty and your opinion. It's only your opinion from working day in and day out with computers. And lastly, update, update, update.Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. STAY AWAY!!! SCAM ALERT!!! They charged us $50 for ripping apart our computer only to tell us that the computer was broken, and there was nothing they could do. Well, that was helpful! We knew it was broken in the first place, hence the need for taking it to a computer repair place. Also, they fraudulently couched the $50 payment as a deposit to be used against the amount of repairs to be made, never telling us it was only a non-refundable license to steal. Needless to say, no repairs were made, and when asked for a refund, they said, NO REFUNDS! Perfect. In speaking with the owner, Kara, about the unpleasant experience I had, she hung up on me in the middle of the conversation. Think about that. An owner of a business hanging up on customers like a petulant child. It goes without saying, that 1) this is not a reputable business worth patronizing, 2) I will definitely never do business with them again (if you consider a business stealing $50 from you as doing business ), and 3) the owner acts like a child. read more
