This is the third time I could write a 5-star review for Computer Solutions in Sunset Hill. The…read more1st time was years ago when I was living in the country taking care of a family member. My computer was having problems, and I couldn't leave home. Someone drove all the way to where I lived and repaired my computer in a single visit. I was so relieved since I really depended on my computer. The 2nd time was last year when a different computer (a very heavy 27" iMac) needed to go into the shop for repair. There's no way I could have carried the computer, so someone from Computer Solutions came and picked up the iMac and took it to the shop for repair and afterwards returned it. Again, such a relief! The 3rd time was last week. My computer had crashed, and not only was I facing the loss of my computer but, more importantly 10 years of precious data. I had conferred with Apple tech by phone, and they were unable to do anything. I brought my machine to Computer Solutions, and in a very short time they were able to repair my computer and thus preserve all of my data. It felt like a miracle, and I was thrilled. My special thanks to Michael who was so knowledgeable, friendly and reassuring. The cost of the repair was much less than I had anticipated and, best of all, my computer was up and running. I've been reluctant to switch, but thanks to Jim and the Mac HQ team, we now have a MacBook Air and I'm typing this review on my lap sitting on the sofa. I'm using this MacBook all over, getting small things done when I'm ready, in comfort (not that computer desk is that uncomfortable...). We had a few considerations to think through w/r/t a large Photos library and more. Jim was both patient and helpful, working with me to get the configuration on the MacBook that we have. It took me several phone calls to work through, but we did it! It was a special order, and a couple weeks later it arrived. After a call with Braiden, he worked through moving the large libraries onto the MacBook and he even merged them. When I picked it up, I had a few additional questions, and Braiden was patient and helpful working me through it all. Along the way, Bailey, Sean and Gage also provided help, in person and on the phone. All, THANK YOU!! Life is better away from screens, to be sure, and yet, screens help us do fun and interesting, and often necessary things... and this MacBook is a great way for me to get things done. We set time to meet, when…read morehe came we discussed steps moving forward,I told him I already tried many types of wireless cameras over 20yr period this has gone on it does 't stop these people from getting in my home, hacking WiFi, devices, etc. I had to start fresh, buy all new. I needed a wired system. He told me no problem, not to worry he knew what he was doing & he would help me regain control of my digital life, he'd come early to set up the whole thing , attach a commercial thread to my router, which would make things even more secure, he looked around my home, showed where things would be, & that took approx 30 min, then he proceeded to tell me cost would be 4850 for what I was going to get, I was also supposed to buy new phone, new service, & pay if I needed monitoring, i'm a senior on disability That amount of money was hard to gather. Aleady under extreme stress I wanted to trust him. I assumed I'd pay for consultation, we'd go over what was going to be done sign a contract and give half down, he said he'd go home, come up with a plan & needed payment in full. I have to say he worked on that for approximately 45 minutes to an hour. He definitely wanted his $ unfortunately we couldnt get more than 2500 on cr card as he was going thru website. When he came back I gave him the balance of 2350, I asked that he deposit it Monday, but he went straight to the bank I found out later. Brad came late mornin, not early, I had to even call to ask if he was still coming. He showed up with a ring, motion, dual light camera for the back & a commercial thread ubiquitous dream 7, I told him I didn't want wireless cameras He said trust me, but I also thought that he was putting in the whole security system He never showed me how to use equipment never left manuals or boxes. He connected the thread to my old hacked router, I told him I had a new router sent to be used with that, he said oh well you reset this so it should be fine. I realized he was not listening to me. This is something Ive been going through for 20 years I have tried everything. Nothing was really discussed with me it was more that he had a plan & put it in motion, regardless of what I said, and if it was going to benefit me or not. That took all of about 45 minutes. I asked where the rest of the system is, he said that he's waiting for it to come in, he'd be back. I had to call him to let him know that as soon as he left, the camera was acting different each and every time I would go outside, I told him he left 2 expensive toys for them to play with that this was not going to work. He pretty much ignored me a lot when I would text him I would get dismissed and I didn't appreciate that I felt like this was not a good way to do business I would call for updates 2 days later hes ready to set up the rest of the system. I told him this was not what we discussed. It's not what I wanted. I didn't think the equip was going to work they had time to play.I thought he knew better but he didn't. I told him this was not gonna work out & I would pay him for his time which at the very most at my house was three hours. But I told him I would pay him 1500 but I would like the rest of my money back. He said you can keep 2 pcs of equipthat is $600. Yet I had no boxes, manual no way to use them or send them back. Long story short he told me. He decided he was owed 2850 , I said absolutely not! To this day I don't have my $ manuals boxes, nor does he respond. He ripped me off and didn't think twice about the bind he left me in. Get a contract he's in it for the money and I'm sure he sets everybody up with the same stuff nothing different. It's all he knows. He's a con artist and a scammer!!! the two pieces of equipment are not worth 600. The thread is almost 279 if that's what he paid for it but the ring light is only $130 so I got ripped off plus the amount of time he says he worked on it at home. it's not like he he's an engineer & had to sit down & draw a plan, he came here & put in a camera at the light switch and plugged in a thread at the router didn't take much thought yet he kept 2/3 of the amount of money for the full cost of the project. I don't feel he put any thought into this. He treated me as any other customer only with less respect, kept the majority of the money for the project, leaving me to still fend for myself with equipment that he put up and I told him not to because they were gonna get infected with Malware, which they did. he does not return calls. He doesnt advise if he's going to be late. He shows up at his con-venience, he didnt follow through with plans discussed. he talks a good game, but doesn't know anymore than your average person who knows anything about computers he surely didn't no more than I did. They have what looks like 10 billion DVDs so you could go there and buy a couple thousand. The furniture they have is beautiful and first class, as are the home decorations. I bought a great retro cookie jar that is one of my favorite things and the best part of all is that the owners are great and fun to talk to. Better yet it is a veteran owned store so patronizing them is a no-brainer.

This made me feel good about his expertise. He was familiar with the brand's known issues. I was able to get up there with my laptop quickly and CJ (and the others) welcomed me as warmly as the summer day it was today. CJ gave me a quick tour as we walked to his working room. I opted for buying a refurbished laptop (I asked for HP again) and he not only showed me something below my price range, but also newer and bigger screen. While I was there, CJ migrated all my data to the new machine and got it set up for me. I played Golden Tee while I waited after I explored the items they have on the sales floor. Will I be back? For further computer needs (oh ya how work is warrantied) or if I'm looking for, well anything they might have in stock (or be able to acquire for me)!
