#RockStars I purchased a Dell laptop from Computer Renaissance a couple of years ago and during a recent move, I misplaced the power cord. I buzzed into the store to purchase a cord and while speaking with the owner, Greg, I began complaining about my system; slow, complaint 2 ... complaint 99, and I woefully suggested perhaps I needed to break down and purchase another system. I used to have an IT / Computer Building / Repair business in Anchorage Alaska, this is where I first heard of this Company / Franchise and being a sort of rival was never treated as one. Often trading business or advise (Tech Talk) and often buying Items I could not afford to stock. Great guys Brian and his crew at 211 E. Dimond Blvd. Yet this review is not on them I found a new gentleman to brag on now although he is accros my state from me. I am legally blind and cannot drive anymore and finding a tech in Knoxville who can assist or is willing to help an Old Blind Tech is impossible like I am gonna steal clients or make them less of a person for assisting me with questions. You see I am an A+ Certified Windows system builder and network technician, yet due to complications from a brain tumor had to give up my hopes of opening my business in Knoxville when I lost most of my sight. Step ahead 5 or so years and many surgeries (on my head and eyes) my eye specialist says what I have is what I will have forever, use it. So being greatful to sort of see straight ahead only, I have adapted and learned what I can and cannot do or see. my eyes work best in low light or in computers it is Dark Mode. So this month I got brave and desperate as my normal Machine died, I built another (Bad Boy) extreme machine that can handle Virtual Reality and power my monitor in my resolutions and colors I need to use it. All went good till I got stuck and had to call Alaska to get help cause people around Knoxvill wanted more money than I spent on my machine just to talk to me. One guy said it would most likely cost me 5 hours at $90 _ to $120 per hour depending on my issue and the time it took him to solve or arrive at weather he could help me. If he had time to fit me in. I told him I was an A+ tech and would not need him for as long as most clients due to the fact I knew what I needed to do, just not how to do it as I am a bit rusty. Well he got mad cause he thought I was wasting his time. (Web said he had free estimates) If you can work on it yourself why are you calling me. (Click) Dial tone??? So I had tried Alaska and they were not open yet, I called Greg in Franklin Tennessee and he listened and offered his input and reversed my decision to purchase Windows 10 Pro yet again. Microsoft had invalidated my version of Windows last Saturday and I have been suffering for a week with a new machine that didn't work right due to Windows Activation issues. Greg offered ways I could reactivate without money that amazingly MICROSOFT Disability Help Desk forgot to mention. And he gave me pointers on my build. Having discovered my computer had become a fancy paperweight and scheduled to go on a business trip the next day, I decided the best I could do was go to the Geek Squad the in the morning to see what could be done about it. The Geek Squad guy was kind of like "no." Not wanting to feel like an uneducated consumer clueless about tech, I said "but it SAID you guys do hardware ON THE WEBSITE!" At which point, he leveled with me "person to person", which I will be forever grateful for because I would have handed the computer over then and there. Basically, your hardware issue will require signing over something in the range of your next pay check, but Computer Renaissance will take care of you for less, and in house. I didn't know "in house" existed for those of us with PCs. As soon as I realized I had a hardware issue, horror music ensued as I imagined waiting for weeks, and that's after I'd managed to wrap my beloved computer in 50 pounds of bubble wrap and still not feel like it was safe enough to ship. IN HOUSE were the magic words. So I arrived rather harried, clock ticking to leave for my trip, to Computer Renaissance. The guy I dealt with (Greg, I believe) made me feel pretty confident that everything would be taken care of just fine. Given the situation, I felt as happy as could be when I left. Now that I have it back? Pretty impressed. Honestly, the DC jack they put in my computer is better than the one I originally had - the charging cable always fit loose, eventually constantly falling out until it broke completely, and now it fits like it should. The casing on my computer was coming apart, and now it's nice and put together again. Fine, they probably had to take the casing off to change the DC jack, but whatever - they gave it back to me much better than it was before and I'm ecstatic! One star docked for communication, which just seems to be a general customer service issue these days - don't know how many times I hear "we'll keep you updated" and then ...crickets... Luckily I was away, so it wasn't too big of a deal, but I was still pretty anxious for news. Once I was back, I was calling every day for updates - I'm sure I was just known as the nutty girl with the samsung that's been through a war.... All in all, great experience. Very impressed and happy. Was pretty confident things would go well, and glad to see my instincts were correct. I have a dying external hard drive I need to get data off of and I plan to ask this place about rates (it's fine, I know this time I might actually have to sign over next paycheck). read more

Unbelievable. I had malware on my Windows 10 laptop so paid this company $153 to wipe it clean and install a NEW version of Windows. Then I paid another $400-$500 to have the guy come to my location to set the entire network up to keep the malware or virus from attacking again. As soon as I started using the laptop ALL THE SAME ISSUES were happening. There are 15 administrators on the account (I'm the only person who has ever used or owned this laptop) of which I'm the only one with limited access. I don't even have the option to save any files anywhere except as a "user" under "this pc--local disk 'c'--users--my name" that I don't even have complete control of. One would think I should be able to, say, save a document to the actual desktop of my own laptop...but I can't. So $700 later I have the exact same malware... which has been more like $9000 due to loss of income bc I can't work from this or any device on my network. Just called them to get my windows key to activate it on a new device and the answer was that "we just reinstalled it from your original windows- it will be the same product key as before". Seriously??? I could have done that in 15 seconds and avoided this nightmare had they been honest from the jump and not charged the 153 for a new operating system install. I couldn't have possibly made it any more clear when bringing the laptop in that I needed a new version of windows- which they agreed to and which I compensated them for. What I got instead was a factory reset, with the same glitchy windows I had before. Unacceptable. I just spent another $1200 to buy a Macbook. Do not use this place if you value integrity and prefer to not feel gaslighted for asking questions any reasonable adult would want answers to. read more

I had an issue with my computer and the fixed it. Fast turnaround time, but the customer service was lousy. They treat you nice before you decide to use their service. After you pay, they treat you like you are a nuisance. "Don't you dare question them about anything that they fixed. They are the experts and YOU ARE NOT! They just gave me my computer back with my receipt without opening my computer to let me that it was fixed. "Trust me....it's fixed." After my computer was fixed, I called to ask an additional question about my computer. One guy that was probably 18 years old, treated me as if I were computer illiterate. I was obvisouly a nusiance and he tried to rush me off the phone (AFTER PAYING THEM!) Guys, work on your customer service! Excellent choice for any computer repair. I have had both a Mac and laptop PC repaired by them. My Mac is 4 years old, getting outdated and got a virus. I was thinking I was going to have to buy a new one, but really didn't have the extra money for that. The guys at computer Renaissance cleaned it up, took care of the virus and updated everything. It now runs better than a brand new one. The PC was a very cheap, low quality laptop. I had not used it at because frankly I hated it. Had some software that I had to use and it would only work on a PC, so I took the PC to CR to see what they could do. I am not the most computer literate, but they upgraded the drive, software and everything else required, plus installed my software and got rid of all unnecessary programs. I've been to other local computer repair companies and I am confident that Computer Renaissance is both the most professional and affordable. They kept my old computer going for 9 years before I finally had them build me a new one. I am a photographer and use applications like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom which require a very robust computer. My current PC was struggling with the newest versions of these software applications so I tried to upgrade the graphics card (which was the issue) with a local Murfreesboro computer repair shop. They were unsuccessful and in the process they changed my bios and other settings which made my computer essentially unusable (they blamed the proprietary HP architecture). Because my computer was old, I decided to cut my losses and build a new, high-end PC. After research, I quoted three local computer companies, including the Murfreesboro company. I ended up choosing Computer Renaissance. I must say that this is one quality company both in their choice of components for my new computer and in customer service.
