Print Shop Experience I wanted to have memorial cards…read moreprinted and thought I might be able to save a few $$ by going with Staples instead of the printer I have used in previous years. Since I was going to be in the area, the next day, I gave this Staples in Oak Lawn a call last Tuesday. A very nice woman in the print shop answered my call and tried to give me as much info as she could regarding how much it might cost : range of charge for "design team*, approximate cost of a sheet of cards, cost for cutting the cards. I did some rough math from the info she gave me, and figured I could probably get the job done for $50 or less and decided to stop there the next day. The print shop is on the right as you enter the store. There was a clerk behind the counter and a guy on the customer side. Although I did not really listen to their conversation, I got the feeling that I was interrupting a conversation more than a business transaction as I stood off to the side talking to my cousin. The clerk was pleasant enough, however, not as informative as the clerk on Tuesday night. All she could tell me is that it had to be sent to the "design team" and it seemed like the price for that service sounded more expensive than the night before. I just didn't feel very confident in this clerk relaying what I wanted to the "design team", so I decided to go to the printer I used in the past and am I ever glad that I did! Staples Overall I always liked Staples and have been to a number of them in past years, including this one. Perhaps it was because it was such a gray day, but the store felt a bit depressing the day I stopped in. We really didn't have time nor need to do any other shopping, so I can't speak to any other thing other than the store seemed pretty empty around 11 AM that Wednesday morning. There was plenty of convenient parking :)

She made it sound like it was no big deal, so I paid $59.95 for assembly. Did not find out until 2 days later that the people delivering the chair did NOT assemble the chair. No, had to wait for another appointment for that. Then once I found out the delivery date I asked for the driver to call me either when they were on the way or when they arrived because 1) my doorbell does not work and 2) I am a senior and disabled. I did not think that was too much to ask. I was told, "We don't do that. Our drivers do not call." I also wanted them to just push the box in through the door. Don't have to bring it into the house, just push it through the door while standing on the porch, "We don't do that. We don't do in home delivery." WTH??? And then I asked for at least a delivery window time, you know, like 9:00 to 12:00 or 10:00 to 2:00, some sort of timeframe . I was told, "9:00 to 5:00, that's our window." That's ALL DAY. Because they refused to call on arrival and just push it through the doorway I needed to have somebody at my house because I am disabled and cannot go on the porch and drag a box inside. That meant I would have to have somebody sitting here waiting ALL DAY LONG for them to arrive. I put a BIG sign on my door that said, "STAPLES, please call when you get here. My doorbell does not work and I am disabled." No call, nothing. One of my neighbors called and said, "Hey, there's a big box on your porch." The IDIOTS just left it out there. Not only did I talk to customer service, but I also spoke to the President's Office and I got the same response from both. "We don't do that." Then when I called to complain about the wobble in the chair I was told that I should take it apart and return it, but they will not come out to disassemble the chair. If I want to return it I have to bring it back to the store or put it back in the box and ship it to them. What kind of CRAPPY company doesn't do a basic courtesy to help out a senior disabled customer? STAPLES, that's what kind of company!!! And then the day after the man came to assemble it when I sat in it and leaned back it wobbled. Clicks and wobbles on the left side. Seriously??? So this morning I was able to get someone to come and put this hunk of junk chair that Staples sold to me in the trunk of the car and return it for a full refund. I will NEVER set foot in a Staples store again. I won't buy so much as a post-it note from them. Never been treated so rudely in my life. And when I called to tell the store that I would be bringing it back this morning and why the manager/assistant manager that I spoke to was completely dismissive. "Yeah, yeah, I've already read your whole complaint." Real nice. RUDE, OBNOXIOUS and NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. In two words, Staples Sucks.

I was trying to purchase printer ink from OfficeMax on my iPhone but could complete the transaction…read morewhen it came time to pay. I called the OfficeMax in Crestwood, IL which is the closest one to my home. The person I spoke to suggested I try to make the purchase on a computer. I did that and I was able to complete my order that way. It might have been a security thing with the company which I would have no problem with. I was happy I was able to complete my purchase. I made a note to order from my computer the next time or purchase at the store itself.

They NEVER have people willing to work. Ran in for ink really quick which should be a in and out…read moreexperience. The wait was not due to heavy customer traffic, rather, they don't have anyone working the cashier counter. I've been watching one employee walk around and do absolutely nothing. They have at least three employees working on the clock but not doing their jobs. Never once was I greeted or acknowledged. An elderly lady who was another customer actually was the one to wave me to the print department where I then stood there for another 10 minutes. Waiting to be checked out. I'd like to add this isn't just a time inconvenience, but also a safety issue. Armed robberies have been on a substantial climb. And businesses like this are perfect targets as they offer the least resistance and have alot of valuable merchandise. DO better and hire people who actually came to work to WORK

Several other printer repair shops didn't want to look at the printer and said just buy a new one…read more I brought my HP Deskjet 3830 here and it was repaired in less than a day. A bumper from an above wall cabinet at my home fell off and into the paper feed. This company found it right away and I picked it up the next day. Josh & Emily are the best. Where other shops charge a flat $80.00 or more to look at the item, Midwest Laser charged $60.00 which I though was very reasonable. I recommend them highly.

Since I recently moved cross-country to Chicago, I am in need for office furniture. I went with my husband hoping to find a office chair or some furniture to use until my furniture arrives via Pod in a few months. Anyway they allowed (1) free piece of furniture and also was selling preused furniture for $39 and $99 bucks. We really lucked out. My husband found a big chair for our living room for free. We purchased a huge book case for my office. In addition to these pieces, we found a rolling ottoman and a side table. We were thrilled with our finds. This wharehouse is open to the public and had a floor dedicated to sale/clearance items and a bunch of new items too. The prices seemed reasonable on the new items too. Checkout website for items currently on sale. I would like to shout-out Mark (owner) and Junior for having awesome customer service. Junior helped me with approximating how many yards of fabric I would need to reupholster the chair that we got for free. Oh yes, I failed to mentioned they have lots of fabric for sale. At the event the fabric was only $5 a yard. Such a deal. Mad props to this business. *only furnishing for my temporary housing for now but will look to this business for my more permanent home in the near future* Would add photos of finds but waiting delivery. That process seems easy. Hoping I will have our items soon but there was polar vortex.
