Wish we had NEVER gotten involved with the Computer Doctor! We have had problem after problem with the computer we got from him-constantly losing info, calling him with problems and issues. Our printer stopped working after 1 month-after several messages to him, he told us it was a piece of junk-so why did he sell it to us? Constantly calling, and when I do get him, he gets very defensive and belligerent, acting as if issues are my fault. He hasn't returned my last two calls so we've given up calling him. He is insistent that icons are on my computer that just aren't there, and gets upset with me when I try to explain they're not. We've wasted well over $1200 on a computer, printer, and repairs. When I mention his name at Staples, I was told he was a quack. Really regret dealing with him. Do NOT recommend. read more

I called Ron Elkin to inquire about a possible home visit. We spoke twice on the phone as he was driving. He offered a few suggestions, just about all of which I had tried before and none of which helped at all. In the end, he told me that it did not sound as if he could help with this problem. There was no discussion of charges for the discussion. Neither did he ask me for contact information such as an address. A couple of days later, the mail brought a bill from him for his time. Ron is very hard to reach as he has no store front and screens his calls before answering. He supposedly removed content from our computer and placed it on an external hard drive. The external hard drive did not work and he was unwilling to fix it for us and unwilling to give a refund. read more

Responsive, prompt turnaround time, helpful beyond the immediate need. When deciding whether to upgrade from an old computer, Ron - a.k.a., "The Computer Doctor" - took extra time to listen and ask questions. After determining my needs (for my elderly Mom, actually), he recommended a modest upgrade to the desktop. The Computer Doc's prescription - for Skyping and easily accessing email - was just right. Ron does not have a business storefront. He operates out of a cigar store in Danvers MA. I dropped off a laptop, a cord, a PC, a screen, and a keyboard in July 2015. I even took an iphone pic of the equipment. My daughter was with me. Ron passed on my "job" to a computer tech somewhere. It was summer, and I was traveling. I could not get through to Ron on the phone, but decided summer brings on it's delays. By August, I finally received a text from his computer tech that the pics & photos were removed from the PC and placed on the laptop and that the laptop was now working, a virus had been removed. I kept calling The Computer Doctor for pick up. Finally, at the end of August, he asked if I would like to meet him at an exit off the highway, and he would give me the computer. I said "no", he could at least deliver my computers to my house as advertised. He came by the next day (a Sunday), and gave me by computer through the window of his truck. He did not get out. I was sick, and not thinking clearly. I gave him a check. I asked about the PC, he told me he didn't realize I still wanted this "old equipment." That it was sitting in a pile of computer cast offs. I went back inside, and gave this some thought.I called him back to ask if there had been a battery in the laptop, He called the tech who confirmed he had worked on the laptop with just a cord I called my daughter to see what she remembered. She confirmed there had been no battery. But she also reminded me that all my personal information had been on this PC, and that she would like to use the keyboard and screen. I tried to get my equipment back. I called The Computer Doctor and found that he had "blocked" my phone. I used both of the numbers he listed for his business, blocked on both. Keeping or not keeping my computer equipment is not a decision he has the right to make. I doubt he even knows where my PC, keyboard, or screen are at this point. Nor was my laptop repair permanent. Within a week, it reverted to its previous blue screen state. I have been so busy at work, that I haven't had time to deal with this individual. I plan to report this interaction to The Better Business Bureau. There is similar complaint on Yelp from another North Shore customer about The Computer Doctor keeping a computer after the customer decided not to go through with a repair. This customer reported to The Better Business Bureau and the issue was resolved. Beware. read more

Love this guy! Always there to help us out on short notice and very reasonably priced. He also gave lessons to my parents and let us test drive some new equipment for free! Don't know what we'd do without him! read more
