I received amazing care here for 10 years before it was acquired by Closeknit. Since then, there was a period of 4-6 weeks where the office was almost entirely unreachable/unresponsive to calls, emails, and portal messages - leaving many people without access to refills, urgent appts, etc. This obviously wasn't intentional but resulted in extremely unsafe care for hundreds of patients. I did write a complaint and the follow up was a call late into evening hours a month later from the personal phone (as in.. linked to cashapp, iMessage, etc) of a very sassy man named James Davis who said he was calling as Regional Manager to offer an apology for difficulties with their call center. I did let him know (respectfully) that the issues are far beyond a difficult call center transition, though the apology was appreciated. Ultimately, James repeatedly interrupted me, talked over me, and his tone was condescending. I let him know that his tone was coming across insincere and absolutely worsening my trust and buy-in (which I believe was the opposite of his intention, with recognition that it sucks being the one to call 100 angry people). Anyway, he hung up on me. For this practice to have a grown man call my phone after business hours from his personal cellphone under the pretense of apologizing, be condescending, and then hang up on me is comically bad. read more

Since they became affiliated with Closeknit the service has been absolutely unacceptable. I have been trying to get my medication for 3 DAYS. Can't message my provider in the old app, Can't message my provider in the new app, Can't request a refill in either app, and when I call the office I have the extreme pleasure of waiting in not one but TWO QUEUES just to reach a call center who can't do anything but send the office a message. I will absolutely seek another provider (after 9 years) and if you need life saving medication in a timely matter, YOU SHOULD AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There is a problem with notifying patients when an appointment has to be cancelled. This morning I made the trip to the Silver Spring office for an early appointment only to be told that the doctor was on vacation. I had made the appointment several months earlier. This is the second time that this has happened at the Silver Spring location. The woman at the desk acted like my not knowing that the doctor was on vacation was my fault and proceeded to tell me that someone had called my phone at 9:00 am today to cancel. I checked my landline and cell phone and had not received any call - not even a text message. I like Dr. Shotashvili, but CPC needs to do something to improve communication with its patients when a change in scheduing occurs. read more

Sketchy practices. They intentionally failed to inform patients of Dr. Mary Beth Alder that she had moved to another practice. When I called to make an appointment, they did not disclose that, but rather said she was not available and I could see a different doctor. Seriously? That's unethical and against ethical practices. I should inform the DC Department of Health. In addition, after being on hold for about 30 minutes, with the call continually dropping and putting me further and further down the list (I ended up 16th call in line) it then disconnected at 5 PM. I was trying to call to request my medical records to be sent to my new PCP. There is no option on their phone tree for that kind of request. My voicemail message of a week ago was ignored, so I was calling back on the appointment line. It says that if you are not going to make an appointment, your call will be rerouted, but it's extremely inefficient and time-consuming, not to mention that they never answered the call. I went on their website to see how to contact them, no information about how to email them. They did have a form to fill out regarding requesting medical records. Guess what? They charge $.76 a page, postage, plus $22+ if you want your records sent to a doctor. That is not standard practice. I should be able to get my records sent at no charge. read more

I was seen at the L Street Address. The provider I saw was nice and informative, but the support staff was rude and made this experience poor. I was asked get an EKG, was met with a hostile nurse, Kim, who ripped open my shirt, left me exposed with the windows blinds slighty open, and scolded me when I wanted to cover myself up in front of her as a stranger. The lab tech, Sisanda, would not see me cause the orders were not placed, and made me wait about 20 minutes before she would get my labs after begrudgingly asking the nurse to help with getting the orders for the labs. She was rude. Had to stick me twice, after fishing (and pulling the needle out then rentering the skin on one of my arms... which I'm pretty sure is a sepsis risk). Overall, poor customer service. Would not recommend, unfortunately for the providers. read more

Save yourself time and money and do not go here. I got extremely sick and a dr here ordered me tests for rapid flu, rapid strep, and upper respiratory tests. Over 24 hours later, I still had no results. I kept calling the clinic asking if they could prescribe me anything because I was the sickest I had ever felt. They said that it could take days for my "rapid" results to come back - how is that rapid? I felt so sick I didn't have a few more days to wait it out without medicine. They then told me I should go to another doctor or urgent care. Why would I do that? I just saw them the day before. Then they went back on what they said about the tests taking days, and tried to tell me that because I'm a new patient I was probably too confused to figure out how to see my results in the app. I can literally see that it still says no results - and the upper respiratory test they took isn't even listed on there. They also said my condition didn't warrant any antibiotics. I went to another doctor and they immediately prescribed me antibiotics and I feel much better. Overall was a huge waste of time and money, I stayed sicker much longer than I needed to. Everyone I interacted with here had different things to say about their policies and what was going on etc. It all felt very schemey and unorganized and like no one actually wanted to help me. I saw a fine NP for a physical at the Silver Spring office, and have been waiting A MONTH for one piece of paperwork to be completed. I have left multiple messages for the NP on the patient portal, have called the office multiple times, and still have yet to receive ONE piece of paperwork for my job. This is ridiculous. HEADLINE: Rude Staff, average doctors and nurses, highly disorganized, and not a good PCP for someone who takes a medication regularly and will need RX refills. This review is a follow up to one that I wrote 3 weeks ago. The office called to "dismiss me as a patient" meaning that they are refusing to communicate with me or treat me as a patient. This practice went out of their way to treat me poorly and make me feel as though I must have some kind of drug issue for requesting a refill of my prescription. They could see I got a RX elsewhere (I went to urgent care). It's really sad that after 8 years as a patient poor communication from their staff resulted in them making me feel as though I'm a bad person for asking for help. Been going to this office for a year and they have helped me with every seasonal illness. The front office is very responsive and will call ahead of the appointment if any changes need to be made. PA Daria is amazing! Very well educated and a great listener. Her goal is to care for the whole person and in my health journey, she has ordered various tests to find answers. After I had my umbrella stolen in woodley park office and I was yelled by the receptionist and the manager like it's my fault that they have stealing in this office . At the time of my visit I only saw the employees and Technician that came to look at the problem, no other patience I saw were present. I was called to be seen, nobody told me it's not safe to leave my umbrella or take it with you. When I step out from the exam room back to the waiting area to give a call to my insuarance for eligibility I saw my umbrella was missing. It's very expensive Tumi umbrella that has wind breaker protection. When I ask front desk about it she is immediately start screaming at me that not my responsibility. You should look after your stuff. I only come here once a year and I have no idea that is not safe or I can't trust to place my items. Instead of Bering helpful I was attacked and screamed by receptionist. So I came to my appointment to make sure I stay healthy but left exhausted with very high blood pressure. My appointment was at 11:30 am and was finish at 2 pm . I got stolen $100 umbrella and was yelled by receptionist and left with very high blood pressure after all this stress. Dr. Kodroff is a caring physician that is always pleasant. The practice also has a convenient online patient portal system where I am able to access records, submit payments and process routine requests like refills with ease. Great experience, I'm not sure why this place has some negative reviews. I was able to make an appointment online at ZocDoc and be seen within a couple of days, the nurses and the doctor were absolutely great, and they sent my prescriptions electronically to my pharmacy that very moment. The doctor even went above and beyond and saw my other medicines on my profile (new patient) and she asked who I saw for those and when I told her I was newer to DC and didn't have anyone yet, offered to get my records, review and I was allowed make a new appointment to handle it all in one swoop. Would definitely recommend. Be warned, they are in a lower level next to a martial arts facility and you can feel the shakes from the practices in the lobby but not once you are in the exam room. It's kind of off putting at first but customer service and great staff override all of that! read more

I have gone to the Woodley Park office for Comprehensive Primary Care for about a year. While some of the staff is great, my overall experiences has been poor. On at least one occasion, they let me make an appointment for a time when the office was closed, causing me to drive all the way there to an empty office. They are hard to reach--there are so many offices you have to go through multiple lines to speak with a real person, if you're lucky enough for them to pick up. I've mostly seen PAs there. Some have been really lovely, and others not so much. You see a different person every time, which is hard if you have on going medical issues. You never know what your experience is going to be like. It's been challenging to get my medication, to say the least. Just today they told me I have to come to the office to pick up my refill because the doctor "can't" get the information over to my pharmacy. This is not normally how it works. Overall, I would not recommend this place (the woodley park office especially, but really comprehensive primary care) to anyone. read more

Do not see this doctor!!! They need to fill out paperwork for my insurance and I have continually asked them to contact my insurance directly and they won't. The patient should never be the go between for an insurance company and the doctors office for a prior authorization. It is EXTREMELY unprofessional. I would never recommend this practice to anyone. Do not go to any of their locations. I saw another doctor for the same thing and they were able to immediately fill out the forms and it went through so I don't know what is wrong with this office. Called CPC saying I had stomach pains that may be appendicitis. Said they do not do walk-ins, and first available was late in the afternoon, so made appointment. Well, pain increased and I had to go to the emergency room, was basically passing out. So of course I missed my appointment but then CPC charges me for a no show. So apparently the ZocDoc issue has been resolved. A couple people told me they had no problems using it to set up an appointment, and it worked out fine for me last week. The rest still applies: 1. Efficient office. I've never waited more than 5 mintues. 2. The whole medical staff is friendly and helpful. 3. It is easy to get an appointment. And judging by other reviews, the office staff can be surly (or unpleasant at least), but I've had never had any problems with them. ***Yelp says Woodley Park Office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays but it's not! I'm not sure the exact hours, but I've had most of my appointments on the weekend. The entire staff is incredibly attentive and sweet. I've had appointments with Lisa Lesane and Colleen Sanders, and both made me feel listened to and respected, rather than looked down upon and rushed as I've felt in other offices in DC. Another perk for me as a young female who's had uncomfortable meetings with male doctors in the past is that it seems this whole staff is female! During my last visit to the Comprehenstive Primary Care on Connecticut Avenue, I had a very disappointing, disrespectful, and dangerous experience with the phlebotomist. She answered what sounded like a personal call while the needle was in my arm. She continued to talk on the phone while she filled-up the vile, etc. She mumbled something to me when she took the needle out, but when I asked her to repeat herself because it wasn't clear, she rolled her eyes at me. I said that I couldn't hear her and clearly she was not focused while she had a needle stuck in my arm. When I verbally told her it wasn't appropriate, she pushed back and raised her voice at me. I did the same because it was absolutely inappropriate and uncalled for. For any patients that are wary of needles and/or doctors, it would have pushed them over the edge. If I didn't like a couple of the providers, I would absolutely be looking for a new PCP. read more

Lisa is great. However, as a whole, the practice is extremely disorganized. It takes well over a week to get prescriptions called in and still I have to double check that it was done. Loraina, is very rude and unhelpful. I came in and physically picked up a script and requested an additional script. I was told, no problem I'll have your provider call it in. Next day, I went to the cvs and nothing was called in. I called and Loraina, simply said you need to make an appt or you can't get this, even though I was within my 3 month window and leaving to go out of the country that very day. I have been going here for six years and this year will be my last. All of the providers are wonderful, especially Lisa, Sheida, and Dr. S. However the administrative staff and medical assistants are horrible. They were fine when I first started, but something changed a few years ago. Since then, they have been on the decline considerably. It's an awful process trying to get referrals and even a simple prescription refilled. 5 stars for the health care providers. 1 star for the administrative staff. If you need a one time appointment, a physical, a check up, etc, I can't recommend these doctors more highly. They are respectful and understanding of women's health and of gender/sexuality, which is wonderful. HOWEVER, if you need a prescription, DO NOT go to this office. The doctor made a simple clerical error with my prescription and it has taken two days and multiple assurances that I will be "called back", though I never have, to even speak to someone about it. This is a prescription I previously filled here with no issue, which I have been taking for 2 years and impacts my quality of life if I go even 24 hours without. It was 48 and the administrative staff continued to simply tell me to wait for a call back. When they finally fixed the issue, they STILL did not call back, and I had to rely on the pharmacy to send me a message. Irresponsible and untrustworthy. The same thing happened when I tried to call for a prescription two days before the holidays. I could not reach a human being and no one called me back at ANY point despite multiple urgent messages. Their customer service and communication is horrible to the point of actively impacting my health. Other reviews tell such similar stories that I am kicking myself for not checking yelp before going. I will certainly not be back, which saddens me because I love these doctors. Please find someone new to staff your office. Yes, I was late. Yes, I tried calling to notify but, being caller 17 defeats the purpose. After running up the escalator, getting lost in a maze of a building, whew, made it 11 min late. Waited for another 7 min for receptionist Alba (Woodly Park office) to finish chatting with a patient loud enough for me to hear "She's just gonna have to wait. Plus, we are technically closed". Finally, it was my turn only to hear I won't be seen by the doctor. I missed my grace period. To say there was no room for understanding that rescheduling an in-person appointment after 2 hour commute, requesting time off work, finding a babysitter, is simply not an option, is an understatement. Pros: Doctor is nice and efficient. Can make same day appointments (but they wont care if you're in pain, have work meetings etc.). Cons: Where do I begin? Example 1: I went to the doctor and found out I had to have a surgical procedure done. In the meantime I was given medication to help with symptoms. It made me incredibly nauseous, so much so that I couldnt go to work. I spent four days calling them multiple times a day begging to talk to a medical assistant or a doctor to get nausea medication because I couldn't afford to take time off. They did nothing more than leave "messages" and I never heard back. Thank God the procedure was a success and I could stop taking the medication. Example 2: I was given a course of antibiotics and mistakenly knocked them over getting out of bed the next morning. Two fell into a glass of water. When the pharmacist told me I needed a new prescription my heart sank. I called the doctor's office and again was told they'd "leave a message" and someone would "get back to me." I stressed that this was a course of antibiotics and if I didnt get the dose that day I'd have to start all over. That was five days ago. No one has gotten back to me to give me a new prescription for the two pills or for another full course of antibiotics. Thankfully I called my Uncle on the other side of the country and he was able to fax in the prescription. It was after example 2 that I decided to write this review. I am beyond frustrated by the blatant disregard for patients by front desk staff. How are the doctor's I see so nice but the rest of the office acts like this??? read more

This practice is perfectly fine, but I would caution anyone who is on regular meds that requires refills from coming here. It's extremely hard to get them to refill prescriptions. Their online portal is a gateway to nowhere and if you call, you're really lucky if they actually complete the refill. I called to refill a prescription about 9 days ago and the medical assistant said she would get it right in. Hadn't heard a thing so I called back when it had been a week and they acted as if they had no record of the call, but that they would get it in right away. Two days later and I'm still waiting. When I first started going here, I would have given them 4 stars. Now, not so much. The past couple of months have been terrible experiences. The doctors/PA/RNs are all extremely nice and seem like they are on top of their game, so I'm not sure where the breakdown occurs. Lately, when I've either needed a new prescription sent to the Rite Aid by my house, or renew my prescription with Express Scripts it has taken multiple calls to the office to get them to actually send it, after I've been in office. I'll get a call from Express Scripts that they have called my Drs office, but haven't had a reply, so I then have to call them and they act like they have no idea what's going on. Once I give the office a call about it, they have no idea what I'm talking about and I have to answer 20 questions about what Express Scripts wants, which I usually don't know the answer to. Also, when trying to schedule on ZocDoc, it takes multiple times for the appointment to actually get approved. Usually the first couple of tries they decline the appointment time, even though it shows they are available. For how good the service is, the frustration of having to put in multiple calls to the office is worse. I plan on changing my dr. read more

Welp, it happened. I had not yet refilled my inhaler prescription because I really only need it maybe once a year. Had a horrible asthma attack on Saturday, I'll accept that I should've taken care of it sooner. There was NO after hours answering service. I tried desperately to find anyone to talk to in order to put in a prescription for an inhaler that I could have someone pick up because I can't afford a hospital. No one called and I rode out the longest asthma attack of my life for almost 9 hours. Had a random friend of a roommate come through with an inhaler eventually. FINALLY get someone other than a voicemail today, and the three different people I was passed along to were so unhelpful and rude that by the time I got to the last batch of people I was a monster. I'm sorry but a patient calling in for a simple inhaler refill, should not take 4 days, countless phone calls, and a conversation with 5-6 people. Also spent the better half of my morning on a three way call with my insurance company and the billing department asking why CPC had charged me $137 dollars for no reason. My insurance company told them it was clearly covered. The woman said that the best they can do is reprocess it and see what happens. What? It goes to collection in 30 days and if its not "processed" by then my credit is supposed to suffer for your mistake? Switching ASAP. read more

The Woodley Park office is conveniently located, with great hours. The staff and doctors there have been helpful and pleasant to me. The reason they do not get 5 stars is over billing concerns. When I went in, I was assured there would be no copay for my visit. As it was my first doctors appointment with new insurance, I believed the office staff who had just input my information into their system. Months later, I have received a large bill for what was my annual physical, billing me for an additional procedure. At the time of the visit, I asked the RN and medical technician if it would be a separate procedure and have additional costs. I was assured it would not. I have now had 2 calls with billings where they are condescending, rude and talk over me. I originally called not to dispute the costs but to talk to them about staff providing misinformation on costs. I was lectured about the legality of their practices in return. I am so happy I found this place. I am so impressed with Dr. Natalia Shotashvili! First of all, she works until 7pm Monday and Wednesdays so I love that I am able to schedule an appointment with her outside of traditional business hours and not miss work. I love that there is a Patient Portal where you can message the doctors about prescriptions, questions, etc. Dr. Natalia Shotashvili replied each time very promptly, I was enthralled how responsive she was, most doctors are notoriously difficult to get in touch with. I recommend this office for anyone in the DC area looking for a new general practitioner. IMPORTANT: the office shares a wall with a karate studio. I used to think that patients we yelling out in agonizing pain from some sort of medical procedure I was super confused and uneasy, just wanted to clear that up.. haha read more

Awesome staff and Dr. Shotashvilli was so kind, understanding and helpful. Went in for a check-up (hadn't been to the doctor in years) and it went great. Very little wait time but then again there was no one there when I went in on a Tuesday afternoon. Their hours are also really convenient as they are open really early and close a few hours after the regular work day. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a great doctor and staff. It's also in a really convenient location being across the street from the Woodley-Park metro stop via the red-line or if you take the bus there are a few bus stops located around the area. Both a friend and an NP at Unity Health recommended Comprehensive Primary Care, specifically Dr. Natalia Shotshavili, when I was looking for a new GP since I was fed up with the rude office staff and lack of communication from my previous doc. I had a physical with her last week, and so far I only have positive things to say! Even though the receptionist thought I canceled my appt and that I just wanted a consultation--which were the result of her looking at the wrong schedule--she was receptive when I told her that I did not cancel my physical. A few minutes after the nurse took my vitals, Dr. Shotshavili came in and after introducing herself, the first thing she did was ask me to sit next to her while she asked questions about my medical history. She is the first doc who actually took the time to talk with me about my medical history rather than just fill out a form. Also, she recommended I get an ultrasound based on a CT scan I had in March as a result of the scan not being able to see my abdomen--something that my former GP missed thanks to her cursory exams. When she examined me, she explained everything she was doing and made sure I was comfortable (for the not-so-pleasant parts). Most importantly, Dr. S is super nice and never made me feel rushed or stupid for asking questions. Being able to check results online and correspond with her via email is a huge plus. Really, my only complaint is why didn't someone recommend her to me 6 months ago when I needed a great GP? I'll definitely be back! Besides Dr. S, I've also seen Sheida Chaikin (PA), Dr. Megha Mendiratta and Maria Claudia Escobar (NP). Dr. M is at the new U street office and Sheida and Maria are at woodley park.
