Alex and Jay from Ixtapa Construction are magicians. They took our idea for changing out our…read moreprimary bathroom, suggested enhancements, and made it reality. In fact, we ended up having two bathrooms remodeled by Ixtapa during the pandemic. They possess a wealth of knowledge about the construction/remodeling business and took time to review options, whether for room layout, glass shower doors, sink cabinets, tile installation or shower drains. In the primary bathroom, they removed a wall and relocated the toilet, the shower and the tub, which entailed relocating plumbing works and electrical wiring, moving hvac duct work, and installing hardy backer panels and drywall. For good measure, they replaced some of our old windows and added a few new ones, put in heating for the tiled floors, and installed a pocket door in the new bathroom entrance. The second bathroom was easier as it 'only' required fixture updates, new flooring and tilework. Their workmanship remained high quality throughout both projects, and was particularly evident in the complex tile worked they performed in both bathrooms. Their staff are highly skilled workers and a pleasure to work with.

True craftsmanship!…read more My sister first hired this company for her kitchen remodel and it was amazing how they transformed it (wish i had pics to share). Rudy and Jose were always communicating and making sure everything was going smoothly. It's nerve wracking trusting people inside your home, but they were honest and, most importantly, very professional! Since then, I've hired them myself to do small electric installations in our home and intend to hire them when we're ready to remodel our home. Also, he genuinely seemed like he was trying to be helpful. However, I haven't been able to fully determine the quality of his workmanship but my limited experience with him did raise some concerns. For example, I asked for an estimate, but instead of providing a quote first, he started working and I only found out what I would be charged after he had already cut into the drywall and begun looking for the issue. Fortunately, the cost wasn't terribly expensive, so I was okay with the process. My bigger concern was that a significant portion of the time I paid for seemed to be spent fixing things that he accidentally broke while he was working, rather than addressing the original issue I called him for. About three to four hours were spent repairing a pipe under the sink that he accidentally cut, as well as fixing a jammed faucet that I had not called for service on. That didn't include the hour spent driving to get the parts and obtain the tools needed to fix the things he broke. Also, it seemed like he wasn't fully prepared with the tools needed for the job, hence he has to run out to get them. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and overlook these inefficiencies, but I ultimately changed my mind because he seemed too busy for me or busy with other jobs. Communication was another concern, as his text responses were quite delayed. To be fair, he was extremely nice and made an effort to help, and I appreciated that. I just didn't come away with a strong enough feeling of confidence or trust in the workmanship. Ultimately, I decided to find someone else to complete the job. The other company was more expensive, but the difference in professionalism, preparation, communication, and overall workmanship was definitely noticeable.

After enough going back and forth, I decided it was time to pursue a better contractor - one that I could actually trust and I would know they would deliver on a new kitchen. This is when we met Dustin at Sekoya Construction. From our first interactions, he was very respectful and easy to talk to. He understood the issues we were facing and stayed within our budget. Not only that, but the crew he brought to the home was just as cordial and respectful as well. I never met a team like Dustin's where I got to know everyone on a first name basis and trust was so easily established. After a few weeks of quick work (including working around Thanksgiving), the team was able to put our kitchen back together before the Christmas holiday. My family and I cannot thank Sekoya Construction enough. We love our new cabinets and countertops!! It was a long few months to get to this point, but it was worth it. In the end, we got a brand new kitchen and a new friend in Dustin. I have no hesitancy recommending Sekoya Construction to any friends and family. There is no better team in the area.
