We've had 2 different groomers with Compassionate Dog grooming (Gavvie and Jorge) and both times have been amazing. The two really care about our pups well being and our Akita really took to Jorge. Grateful to have somebody we can trust to take care of our boy!

Looking pretty and happy!

We couldn't have had a better experience for our puppy's first groom. They were so responsive with scheduling and helpful on the phone. Their primary focus is to make grooming a positive experience for the dog which is so awesome! Our groomer was very kind and patient with our puppy and she did an amazing job. We will absolutely be booking with them again.

Coton De Tulear groomed perfectly by Felix at Compassionate Dog grooming.

Our groomer, Felix, was gentle, kind and loving to my 13 pound dog. She was very professional. I got my dog back clean, fluffy, smelling good and trimmed just right!

First grooming was terrific, but their top groomer moved on. 2nd grooming with a girl named Evie was terrible. I looked back on my video doorbell to see if I did explain exactly what i wanted and I was clear: Miami cut with shaved face and body, trim ears to leather, no layering in the ears, clean up poofs, clean feet. Evie did not listen. Got a hack job instead. She took the time to scissor the body when it could have been just shaved. I had reservations when I met this second groomer and the owner Andrew assured me that she was skilled, when she clearly was not. The pictures speak for themselves. He returned my money, but so what... It is going to take a year for her ears to grow out. ------- If you have an issue with your groom, this is the response you will receive ~ attacks and deflections. No responsibility for subpar hires. We have all of the (pleasant!) conversations on video and receipts with timestamps. Both grooming bills were paid immediately upon receipt. An attorney will have a field day with the slander here.

This review is long over due. I am the helicopter mom of a fearful dog. A very fearful dog. I thought I would never be able to have him groomed. I worked with Compassionate Dog and ended up with Elise as our groomer. I can't say enough wonderful things about this lady. She was so patient and wonderful with Oliver. Even though he was still fearful, I could tell he trusted her and liked her. I am going to be honest, I had a bumpy road in the beginning mostly with communication but once I met Elise it was smooth sailing and Compassionate Dog, more than made up for the initial rough experience. I will only be using Compassionate Dog and Elise to groom "Oliver" from here on out.

We use Compassionate Grooming's mobile service, and George is absolutely incredible! Our rescue pup, Elmore, has severe anxiety around nail trimming - no groomer or even our vet could get near his paws without sedation, and even then the vet could not finish all 4 paws. George was patient, gentle, and truly compassionate, and after just two visits, Elmore let him buff his nails calmly for the first time ever. We're beyond grateful, George has completely changed grooming for us!! Elmore is so happy and calm around George and gives him the biggest cuddles. Thank you so much George!

Damage to my service dog's guard coat / top coat done by the groomer.

History I am currently battling Multiple Myeloma; a rare form of blood bone cancer. This requires that I have a service dog. Fortunately, shortly before my surprise diagnosis, I adopted a young, healthy, intelligent German Shepherd Dog. He is in training to be my service animal. My priority was, and still is, battling my cancer. After over a year, however, my dog's coat shedding issue needed to be addressed. I selected Compassionate Dog Mobile Grooming. Facts -Andrew, the owner, was made aware of the extra time required. I told him my dog's coat had not been cared for in a very good while due to my physical limitations and ongoing medical battle. I also sent him photos of my dog. -GSDs are super owner-loyal dogs. Even more so, when in training to be a service animal. The dog/human emotional bond and connection is critical for the service dog and the owner/handler to work successfully together. -With the above said, I asked to be in the grooming van with my dog during the work. Andrew informed me that this would be fine, stating: "...any groomer that would not allow this should be a "red flag"... -The groomer tech, George, arrived about 20-30 minutes late. He came into my home, saw my dog's current coat condition, and also viewed photos of his original coat. So, there was no mystery or misunderstanding regarding the scope of work. -We went into the grooming van and I comforted my dog as George shortened his nails and cleaned his paw pads. All seemed good. -Then, things got beyond strange. George asked me to leave the van because he said he didn't want to "restrain" my dog; that my being with my dog in the van was "distracting." This request ran counter to what Andrew, the owner, told me. I should have stopped the process and removed my dog at that point. Unfortunately, I mistakenly trusted Andrew and George. -George told me he just needed to remove the matts and tangles in my dog's coat. He said he would text me when he completed this task, so I could be there for the main part of the work which was my dog's bath and further de-shedding during the bath process. -I was very distracted working online to protect my retirement funds as the stock markets pretty much tanked on that Friday, April 4th. When I finished this major time-consuming and distracting task, a full three (3) hours had gone by with NO TEXT from George, as he promised me. -George came out of the grooming van, with my service dog, who had been locked in a van for three (3) hours with a stranger! This was outrageous! -The dog that I will rely on to literally save my life, suffered three full hours of trauma by being detached from me in an enclosed van with a total stranger. Trauma/Other Issues -My dog urinated on his bed that evening after his groom. This is the first time in the over two years that he has been with me that this has happened. (see photo) -He also had major diarrhea for about two days following the event, luckily outdoors. -My dog is now overly sensitive to touch. Even lightly touching his coat causes him to wince. -He blinks his eyes and backs his head, acting as if I'm going to hit him. Possibly from mishandling by the groomer. -George stated that my dog did not like the hair dryer around his eyes. Well, I would not like that either. -Also, I did not see any headphones or ear coverings for my dog, as their photo gallery on Yelp indicates, to help protect my dog's sensitive hearing. -My dog is also acting a bit more distant toward me. I attribute it to his being locked up in a van with a stranger for three hours. -My dog's guard coat (top coat) was altered during the attempted de-shedding. This outer coat is critical to the protection of any double coated dog. It also contributes to the overall appearance of my dog. (see photo) -My dog's bath was poor. In addition to the items mentioned above, his ears were not even cleaned until I noticed it. George asked: "Did you want me to clean his ears?" Well, heck yes! Follow-up -I contacted Andrew, the owner, to voice my concerns. My primary one was trauma caused by my service dog locked in a van with a total stranger for three hours. I also complained, as the attached photos indicate, that my dog was still profusely shedding after an alleged de-shedding that took three hours! (see photo) -Andrew's response was that George was already running late for another appointment and that Andrew contacted George and told him to "finish up" the work. So, he instructed George NOT to text me as he had promised. -Andrew denied causing any trauma to my service dog. Strange; as the above listed trauma items indicate. Andrew did not address my ongoing shedding concerns post-de-shed, only noting that there was a large amount of hair. -Andrew never really addressed my main question: What was going on with my beloved service dog in that grooming van for three full hours?! While my dog was still major shedding after the de-shed. (see photo) Summary: Do not ever use this mobile grooming service!

I was nervous to leave my pup, as this was his first groom by a professional, but I was reassured by the knowledge and confidence of the groomer.

Furry Land of Austin, TX - Kaitlyn did a great job grooming King! She was attentive and informed me of an area he was licking and red. I appreciated that. Thanks!

I…read morerearranged my entire work schedule to be home and canceled work calls so I would be available to hand my cat over for his appointment. I was told 7 mins before his appt that they were running an hr late since previous appointments needed more time and that caused our appt to be pushed back. How's that my problem? They should've allotted the proper time. What's insane is the company requires 48 hrs notice to reschedule or cancel, or you'll be charged but they don't grant you the same courtesy.(also must have your card on file) Insane. I'm actually quite mad. I canceled. I better not be charged a cancelation fee or this will be an immediate dispute w my credit card company. I've attached a screenshot of the lame text I received 7 mins before my scheduled appt. After reading other reviews, this seems to be a reoccurring issue with the same groomer, Kayla. Since reading other reviews, I'm grateful to have canceled this appt after reading reviews of them leaving cats and pups with bloody paws and being returned wet. Do yourself a favor and do not make an appt with this company. Find someone else who is reliable.

It's been quite some time since we've been clients of As the Fur Flies (cost savings of a DIY Dad…read moreGroomer), but with our newest addition to the family, an ever growing 6 month, 42 pound Goldendoodle, we weren't quite ready to tackle a new challenge. Our old groomers no longer seem to work here, but we still rave about the kindness and care the team showed our pups back in 2021. 2026: Our new pup arrived to us covered in mats so severe I had to trim some myself, leaving him a bit uneven. We scheduled a grooming session but didn't realize he would be receiving a "first-time puppy cut," which is different from a full grooming appointment. I completely understand the difference, but I wish I had been informed upfront, as I was expecting a full-body cut--especially at the price we paid. A month later, we tried a different groomer, Ivy, after seeing a Goldendoodle cut on their Instagram that we loved. She did an amazing job! As a reminder, per most pet grooming policies, all dogs must have up-to-date vaccines before their appointment. Additionally, there is now a late pickup fee if you arrive more than 30 minutes after your pet's session is completed.
