Five stars to Adrian! It had been years since Rom got groomed and we were not sure how he'd do. He's a big guardian-breed/ GSD mix and he came in with significant matting, so we were apprehensive initially. Adrian was great the entire time. Incredibly professional, super informative, and very patient. He cared just as much about Rom not being stressed as he did about the grooming itself. He let me know about an area of concern so that we could get it checked out as well as gave his honest opinion about specific questions I had which was a big deal to me. The thing I appreciated most is that his advice fit Rom's life. Rom's a farm dog, not an indoor dog, and Adrian got that and tailored his advice and care to it. Rom's state of mind was great when he came out and he physically looked like a new dog. If you've got a big dog or a nervous one, go see Adrian. Can't recommend him enough. read more

My puppy Alfie is about 5 months old and we took him to a different groomer for his first grooming experience last month (we also bathe and do small trims of his fur regularly at home so he's some what used to some of the grooming process). After 4.5 hours, when we picked him up from the groomers he was very upset with us and clearly did not enjoy his visit. We decided to give As the Fur Flies a try since they were highly recommended on Reddit. We were so impressed with the amount of work Gavyn was able to do on Alfie especially since it only took him 2.5 hours. The best part of the visit was when we were picking Alfie up. Not only was he super cute (with his new hairdo) and happy to see us, he even said bye to the manager and Gavyn! My pup is an introvert and he absolutely loved this place. Our little dog is some long-hair chihuahua mix with long silky hair that needs some maintenance. He's an amazing little guy, but he is reactive and fearful in new situations. Sure enough, he had a rough go at his first grooming and ended up connecting on a bite on the groomer. That visit was a failure, but As The Fur Flies was willing to give him another chance. We loaded up on anxiety meds and got the little guy high as a kite before attempt #2. The grooming was successful, and he looked awesome. The care and patience with our dog was greatly appreciated. I don't think we are repeat customers because it was extremely expensive, but this groomer did a great job with a difficult little dog. read more

We have been taking our dog to As the Fur Flies for a while. Upon our last visit we were informed the price was increasing. Little did we know, that price was going up $60. A massive 40% price increase from $150 to $210. When I asked why, nobody had a satisfactory answer for me. I really hope they are giving their groomers more, because unfortunately with these new prices, they just baked in their tips. read more

Fantastic team at GroominGavyn. We had Ash as our groomer while we lived in North Austin and she always did a fantastic job with my dog Charlie. They are a small team (2 groomers and 1 assistant), so make sure to schedule your grooms early. They're located a little out of the way from the main areas of Austin but if you live up north, they're well worth the travel. I highly recommend Gavyn and Ash! read more

New review (three years later): THIS IS FOR ALL STANDARD DOODLE OWNERS. My dog has been getting groomed from Gavyn for the last three years. His business started as Groomin Gavyn then was bought by As the fur flies. I have NO problem with the groom itself. He always does a great job. My problem is with the crazy price increases and not being informed unless I question it. My dog is regularly groomed every 6 weeks ... never goes in with tangles or mattes. Standard goldendoodle 65-70lbs // July $135 base // Sept $150 base ... if I were to go back in Oct it will be $180 base price. With tax and tip I'd be paying over $200. They've just lost a loyal customer. read more

I would be very weary of taking your dog here. Our mini Bernedoodle (currently 40 pounds) has been groomed several times here since we got him 15 months ago, but today was an awful experience. I headed to drop our dog off at 1:30 for his 2:30 appointment on our way to my daughter's birthday lunch. They informed me I couldn't drop him off that early and I was caught off guard bc I have always brought our dog 30-45 minutes early. I asked for their help this time so that I could make it to lunch but was told no so I waited in the car for 45 minutes until our exact drop off time and missed my daughters birthday lunch. Then when I went back in to drop him off they looked at him and said they would need to bump him up to a large dog. I questioned this because just 8 weeks prior they increased the price by $40. But I agreed to pay the $180 grooming free this time but did question how this is decided bc there are no policies on the website and that I would have to find a new groomer bc I could not afford that. I then headed home only to get a text followed by a phone call letting me know the groomer Hannah who has been our dog's primary groomer was no longer comfortable grooming Rocky and I needed to come pick him up immediately. This entire experience wasted 4 hours of my day and my dog is still not groomed. If you have a doodle of any kind stay away bc they just keep raising the price with no policies for how they determine their price. The owner said she will always have her employees back which is fine but just know if you ever have an issue you are not permitted to express your opinion or the will refuse your business. Adrian's customer service and ability to deal with reasonable questions is non existent. He blew up my questioning the price and drop off policy into we are uncomfortable grooming your dog. read more
