My 19 year old cat went down hill very quickly on a Sunday night and Monday morning. I am so grateful that Dr. Allison could come to my home within 2 hours of my calling to schedule a visit. Dr. Allison was very kind, caring, and explained every step of the process clearly. My cat had a wonderfully peaceful death, at home on the couch where she loved to sleep. She had had several years of declining health and many trips in her pet carrier to the vet...She hated the carrier and the drive to the vet and would cry the whole way. Easing her pain at the end, at home, without having to put her in the carrier and car was the best gift I could give to my sweet girl. read more

Dr Sara was excellent! We had a adopted a feral kitten that had a chronic cold. After a couple vet trips and waiting 8 months to see if it would clear up, we called Dr Sara. She was very patient and was able to calm down our kitten and give him the treatment. She followed up beautifully and helped us through it. *Our cat Loki is doing great now. Thank you for your help. read more

We finally had to put our 17 year old beagle down and Dr. Sara really made it a respectful event. She was able to work around our difficult schedule and answered our numerous questions beforehand. She explained everything as it was happening and let us know what to expect. We are both appreciative of the consideration and care that Dr. Sara provided. The grieving process was made easier because of her proficiency in this delicate matter. read more

Not wanting to shop around for euthanasia services, I asked a friend for a referral, and she recommended Dr. Sara at Compassion 4 Paws. After leaving a probably unintelligible, tearful voicemail, I followed up with an easier-to-understand message through the website - I was so grateful she provides an alternate means for potential clients to contact her. I received a call from Dr. Allison, who, as of December 2015, has been working with Dr. Sara for four months. Dr. Allison was extremely supportive and communicative, inviting me to call or text her anytime while our dog was touch and go for several days in ICU. Sadly, he did not recover, so we moved forward with putting him to rest. Dr. Allison was amazing. She was able to provide same-day service for us, arriving in the evening. She described the euthanasia process and what we should expect, which included two injections: one for inducing heavy sleep, and one for permanently ending our boy's suffering. Our previous euthanasia experiences took place in clinics where the injections were given one nearly immediately after the other. Dr. Allison allowed us time after the first injection to say good bye, or simply just be with him. When our dog passed, Dr. Allison secured him carefully and with dignity before taking him with her, where she made arrangements for private cremation per our request. She told us when we can expect his remains, said she would return them to us, and also offered to contact our vet (we accepted). We are so sad our furry child is no longer with us, but we're convinced we made the right decision to allow him to pass at home. Dr. Allison confirmed services and costs in my initial outreach, and we were able to pay with credit card upon her arrival. read more

We said good-bye to our favorite furry face yesterday and for such a heart-wrenching and difficult experience - Dr. Maia made it bearable. Our kiddo (6) was with us throughout and left the experience feeling better about where our guy was going and that now he was at peace. I highly recommend Compassion 4 Paws for helping families through this process and, like others, if I had known about their other services sooner would have likely reached out to them for hospice care as well. read more

Today I had to let my right hand man, and best friend, Mikey go. He was a 4.5 lb Yorkie and the sweetest dog on the planet...I'm a little biased. When he began to show signs that he wasn't feeling good I took him to the vet. I felt like it was so sterile and cold, and decided to let him go at home. Dr. Sara wen through the details and helped me to come to terms with the the decision I was making. Most importantly she gave me the time and space to be with Mikey before I had to let go and say goodbye. I'm sitting on the deck where I had to let Mikey go this afternoon holding his favorite blanket. As I think about him, and miss him so very much, Dr. Sara's kindness and professionalism was irreplaceable - like Mikey. Thank you Dr. Sara for making an unbearable circumstance something that I could at least get through. read more

My wife and I made the very difficult decision to have our 14 y/o Welsh Corgi euthanized in our home because of his many health problems and the development of an aggressive nature that precluded us from handling and transporting him. Thank goodness that I found Dr. Sara! She was very flexible and come to our home on short notice. She was extremely gentle and compassionate with our difficult, but treasured family pet. She took her time and showed tremendous patience during this delicate procedure. She said all the right things to comfort us and help ease the guilt we felt, and did everything in her power to make our dog's passage painless and dignified in familiar surroundings with family close by. I cannot recommend her highly enough! read more

I am grateful to Compassion 4 Paws and Dr. Allison who was as kind and compassionate as one could be. The process of putting our cat Kazu to sleep was extremely humane and having that kind of energy in our house was comforting. I don't want to have to go through this again, but doing what is right for your pet is all that matters. Thank you. I am forever appreciative of your work. read more

I cannot express my gratitude to both Dr. Sara and Dr. Allison. I contacted Compassion 4 Paws because my mixed Australia Shepherd, Bella, couldn't walk for over a week and she was miserable. She has suffered from hip dysplasia her whole life and also has arthritis in her spine. Dr. Sara was deeply compassionate and spent a lot of time just talking with me about making the decision. That conversation was invaluable, and I appreciated her depth of understanding and compassion. When I decided it was time, it was Dr. Allison who came to the house. Keeping in mind that my dog had not walked on her own for almost a week, just 15 minutes before Dr. Allison showed up Bella decided that she felt good enough to get up and play ... it was amazing. Dr. Allison did a very thorough exam, listened to a voicemail from my regular vet, and made some additional recommendations for treatment that may help keep Bella comfortable. Needless to say, we did not euthanize her that night. Dr. Allison is genuine, caring, and sooo good with the animals. I know the time is coming when I will have to let my fur baby go, and when that time comes there is no question that I will be contacting Compassion 4 Paws. I highly recommend Compassion 4 Paws. read more

We used Dr. Sarah for acupuncture for our aged dog. The dog is a 14-year old Golden Retriever and suffers from arthritis and old age joints. We have been using Dr. Sarah for over a year for acupuncture for our dog and notice immediate results (after the initial three treatments.) Dr. Sarah was our regular veterinarian for many years before she formed Compassion 4 Paws so she has a great wealth of general veterinarian knowledge and experience. She has been able to use that great wealth of experience and knowledge for the pet care and treatments that she now offers. Dr. Sarah has a great compassion and understanding for animals and their owners. We would not hesitate to recommend her. 5 stars and more! read more

Yesterday, Dr. Audrey came to our apartment to help our cat Betty rest. From the moment she stepped into our home, Dr. Audrey made everyone feel comfortable. She spent time with my girlfriend and me, asking questions about Betty's life, telling us about the procedure, and making sure that we were going at the pace that was comfortable for all of us. She was respectful, compassionate, and was a genuine friend in the hardest of times. Without her support and professional conduct, Betty's passing could have been much more painful. When you allow a stranger into your home to help a family member pass, you want to make sure that this person can be there in your time of need. If you are looking for someone to help, you won't find anyone better than Dr. Audrey. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. read more

When having to make the difficult decision to put our beloved Pupcake to rest. It was a struggle for all of us. I knew I wanted a dignified, stress free environment for our dog. I went online and found Compassion 4 Paws and I couldn't have found a better company. The responses to my email questions were prompt, when I had to call and change my appointment, Tasha was patient, sweet and understanding. When Dr. Allison arrived she explained the process, was extremely patient with all of us, walked us through every step of the way. She didn't pressure us at all and made sure we were as comfortable as possible at one of the most difficult afternoons of my life. I would recommend Compassion 4 Paws to anyone needing animal care. Thank you to the entire Compassion 4 Paws team. read more

I had to put my dog of fifteen years down. He was in pain and could not walk any longer without more pain. This had been coming on for awhile but one day it could not be helped. It was a hard thing to do even knowing it was what was best. At first I was thinking the price was high but after Dr Sara come over and explained everything, I knew there was no other way to do this, She was the perfect person at the perfect time to make this last step with my Zipper. Her compassion for animals and their humans was priceless. I received a card days later that made a hard time better. Thanks you! PS she also let me know how to handle my other dog who was feeling the loss as well, read more

Friendly and helpful, they made the difficult process of putting a dog to sleep as compassionate as possible. Their prices are as good as the other local providers, the staff was easy to reach before and afterward to answer all my questions, and the vet showed flexibility with a slight change in location at last minute. My dog had a great last day, and his passing was peaceful with Compassion 4 Paws. Thanks. read more

Dr. Allison was great to deal with during a terrible situation with our dog Leroy. She made everything just a little bit easier by being so nice. Gave us as much time as we wanted with our dog and let us have privacy once he passed. She made us a clay paw print, and sent a sweet card after the fact. If you have to do this type of thing, I would recommend Dr. Allison to anyone. read more

Very gentle and professional. A horrible day was made a little less painful due to their in home service.

Our sweet girl, Bama, was diagnosed with T cell lymphoma recently, and was beginning to show signs of suffering. Our beliefs did not include prolonging quantity over quality, so we made the difficult decision to send our beloved bulldog on to her next big journey. My grandpa had had a great experience with at home end of life care with his dog, and recommended the process to us. I searched for providers and called three listed numbers. One sent me to an answering machine (no thanks), one sent me to a kind male vet with limited availability, and the third call connected me with Dr. Sara. She asked a few necessary questions and really provided me with the chance to talk out all of those conflicting feelings that come about when you have to be a catalyst for determining the fate of another being. She was patient, kind, and offered words of comfort. We booked a time, and she came out to my grandparents house where we put Bama to rest. Dr. Sara immediately got down and started to love on poor Bama. I should let you know that she was covered in tumors; some of them bleeding, and Dr. Sara didn't bat an eye. She spent a good amount of time letting Bama get to know her, and when it was time, Bama trotted happily after us. It made us feel secure and safe with our choice. Dr Sara let us know that in her experience and what she saw with Bama, we were making the right choice for our girl. That meant a lot to us. Bama laid down, received lots of snuggles and pets from all three of us (my husband was there as well), got an injection to calm her, and fell asleep in about a minute. We snuggled, stroked and loved on her for about 5 min, and then she received her injection and drifted peacefully away. Dr. Sara comforted us, let us know exactly what was going on through the process and provided us with multiple opportunities to ask questions. I have already recommended her and would recommend this service to everyone. Thank you Dr. Sara. read more

Dr. Sara came over yesterday to help us say goodbye to our beloved 16-year-old lab mix, Piper. She was gentle and compassionate, and Piper was at ease with her from the moment she walked in. She spoke softly and stroked him gently as we discussed his condition. When the time came, she carefully explained what would happen, and gave my husband and I space to treasure our last moments with our precious, darling old man. He went to sleep on his bed that I bought him many years ago, and afterward, I realized that I hadn't seen him that peaceful in a long time. She let me put his favorite rabbit next to him when she left, and I gave her a hug. This experience made the most awful day of my life just a little more bearable. I'll never forget the kindness and empathy Dr. Sara showed us, and I'm forever grateful that she gave our "kiddo" the peace and ease he so deeply deserved. read more

I have known Dr Sara for over a decade while she was working at my chosen vet clinic. She was my preferred provider there, always working thoroughly and compassionately with my cats and dogs. When she left to start her own business I was so sad to see her go not realizing I would have the opportunity to work with her again and get to know her even better. My two aging standard poodles developed arthritis and were having trouble with standing up, walking comfortably, and controlling bowl movements. Accupuncture has been very effective for them. I did a few treatments close together and just do periodic treatments now to keep things in check. They are now back to hiking, with us limiting their distance to how their arthritis is doing each day on average 1.5 -2 miles. They are 12 &14 years old. The bowel issue is now under control. In addition we see their energy improved with treatments. Dr. Sara is one of those rare people you find living her life with intention and yes, compassion for both her human clients and their beloved companions. I highly recommend her and her services. read more

When making the hardest decision of our lives, we were searching for a mobile vet who would come to our house. After speaking with several of them, we found Dr. Sara. We knew immediately after she spoke one sentence, that she was the one for us. She was so compassionate and understanding and spoke to me for about a half hour about our 11 year old lab and his symptoms from lymphoma. She kept in contact with us over the next few days and offered suggestions to keep him comfortable, and when we knew it was time, she rescheduled our appointment and came over early. She was such a calming presence and we felt like she was part of the family. We are so glad that we choose Dr. Sara and would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone that wants to give their pet a dignified peaceful transition. read more

Dr Sara was so wonderfully kind and she had the most amazing sense of compassion for our sweet boxer dog Abby and my family when it was time to let her go. I have experienced euthanizing a pet at a Vet's office, and doing it at home was such a better choice. Dr. Sara was just incredibly compassionate and she helped us to allow Abby to go in a comfortable and very peaceful way, which is what she deserved. Dr. Sara allowed us all the time we needed with Abby, and she gave Abby the most loving and gentle care. I am very sad that Abby is gone, but I feel very comfortable with the way she left us. I am so grateful for Dr. Sarah and would highly recommend her to anyone who is in need of end of life care for their pet. Having Dr. Sara come to our house was our last gift to Abby and I am so grateful we did it. read more

Dr, Sara has been treating my Cavalier for almost a year now and I must say that Luke would not be where he is had it not been for her. He had 2 herniated disc surgeries within 30 days and there was fear that he wouldn't walk. We had therapy going, but until we added acupuncture, he always acted injured. Acupuncture and Dr. Sara really made all the difference. Luke just adores her and she truly is the extra help he needed. You will never convince my 2.5 year old Cavalier he was ever injured! I have so much respect and appreciation for the staff of Compassion 4 Paws. We have had to use their services twice and both times they were incredibly understanding, flexible, kind, and patient with me as I have trouble making difficult decisions. Both Dr. Sara and Dr. Allison are models for how to treat pets (and people) and have incredibly comforting presences. Their scheduling staff is also very supportive. As awful as it is to lose a pet it is comforting to be able to give them a dignified and painless passing and I am forever grateful to Compassion 4 Paws for this service. read more

Our 3 year old pup was diagnosed with cancer, and she declined very rapidly. When I emailed Compassion 4 Paws, we had accepted we were near the end, but still thought we had several more days. But the very next day, our pup let us know she was ready to go. We called first thing in the morning, and whomever we spoke to on the phone didn't ask any unnecessary questions. I was crying, so she made sure to repeat information back to me so it was all correct. She was very patient and kind. Dr. Sara arrived at our house just a few hours later - on a holiday weekend, no less. I cannot say enough good things. She entered our house when we were in our darkest hour, she was gentle, kind, said all the right things, and was willing to do everything on our own time. We were a wreck, and I could tell Dr. Sara was so empathetic. She gave us our own space and time to say goodbye, but she mourned our pup right alongside of us. Everything was handled as best as we could have hoped for, and we are so grateful that she came when we needed her, and also that our pup left us on her own blankets, comfortable, and not scared in a vet's office. We are so grateful for this service. read more

Dr. Sara Hopkins is an Angel. Our Mia was diagnosed with cancer on Feb 19. We knew we did not want to pursue aggressive treatments. In our search for alternative treatments, we found Dr. Sara. She responded to our inquiry in a timely and thoughtful manner. When we met and discussed the plan, her commitment to thoughtful, compassionate care was self-evident and refreshing. She listened to our wishes and helped us formulate the best plan to address Mia's changing needs. She gave us tools to help with our assessments of Mia's condition. She checked in with us and was always responsive to our texts or calls with insights and consultation. Knowing we had a sound plan, a wonderful pet sitter, and Dr. Sara in our corner, we were able to go on a week long vacation which could not be rescheduled. As painful as leaving for vacation was, we slept and enjoyed our family because Dr. Sara put our minds and hearts at rest. When the time came to let our Precious Mia go, Dr. Sara's professional experience, skill, and compassionate care was priceless. Mia was so tired. She followed us about as best as she could but spent the majority of the time sleeping. When our pet sitter stopped by to visit she got up and wagged. When Dr. Sara arrived, Mia walked confidently and with a brightness in her eye as if she was drawn to Dr. Sara's love and compassion. She had met her only once before. Mia's passing was truly peaceful. We commented on this, and Dr. Sara said the gentle passing was due to Mia's peacefulness. As true as that may be, we thank God we had Dr. Sara's skill, professionalism, and compassion to help Mia as she ventured into a new World with her Creator. We hope to have Dr. Sara's expertise and consultation for our pet's various needs in the future. read more

We had a wonderful kitty as a family member for almost 19 years. We adopted her from PAWS when my oldest daughter was only 10. It was so difficult to see our kitty decline and, although she had a wonderful regular vet, we wanted her to be home, surrounded by my daughters and our family when she passed. Dr. Allison was able to arrive on short notice and at a time when everyone was here. She explained the process fully and we never felt rushed. We were able to say our goodbyes and Dr. Allison treated our kitty with respect and kindness. read more

I am immensely grateful to Dr. Sara and her incredibly compassionate service. She started coming to my home early this year to provide acupuncture to both of my kitties. One of my cats happens to be a rare case that just can't handle needling, and after a variety of gentle attempts, Dr. Sara agreed that it just isn't a modality for her. My other cat Patchy greatly benefited from the acupuncture and it clearly relieved her arthritis pain because she started walking more and with smoother movements for her last few months of life. In July, Patchy unexpectedly went downhill with kidney failure and I decided not to hospitalize her because she would have hated it. Dr. Sara came within a couple days to walk me through hospice care, which I continued for about a month. When Patchy took her final downturn and let me know she needed help, Dr. Sara was there within a few hours to ease her suffering. She was able to fall asleep in her favorite spot on the bathroom rug, and her best friend was able to see her body and understand that she is now the solo kitty of the house. It was the absolute best scenario for one of the hardest times of my life. Thank you, Dr. Sara and your team, for all that you do to ease the pain of animals and their people. read more

On Memorial Day 2016 after a very short illness we had to have our Grizzy Bear put down and were at a loss as to how we were going to handle moving the 140 + pound bundle of love out of our split level house in order to get him to the Vets office or for that matter if we could bear to watch him suffer through another day. Compassion for Paws solved both of those issues and allowed him to go peacefully at home among his pack. Dr. Allison was compassionate and gentle with our friend; he did not suffer and passed quietly. She also made arrangements for David Haarsager of "Heartfelt Memories", a Pet cremation service, to meet her at our property and aid in Grizzs' respectful removal and disposal. I wish I could give 6 stars...I cannot say enough good things about Compassion 4 Paws. From initial contact, to scheduling our appointment, and the treatment we received from Dr. Lindsay, we feel truly blessed during such a difficult time. We are so grateful to have had someone so sincere, gentle, and caring to help send our baby girl to kitty heaven. Dr. Lindsay came prepared with everything she needed, walked us through the steps, made sure we were comfortable (as comfortable as one can be is such a situation), and in no way rushed us to say goodbye. Our precious Jordan fell asleep on Daddy's lap, and we are confident she simply drifted off and felt no pain. As difficult as a process that this was, I am forever thankful to have had someone so caring and compassionate to help. Dr. Sara is wonderful! As I made the utterly heartbreaking decision to have my 13 yr old greyhound euthanized when her situation was hopeless, I had the comfort and compassion of Dr. Sara to ease my dear dog's way out of this life. Dr. Sara could not have been more professional, kind and helpful. I felt supported and able to withstand this deeply emotional event because of Dr. Sara's presence. My dog was not frightened. I cannot recommend Compassion 4 Paws highly enough, and I have told all my friends with pets to put her on speed-dial. Dr. Sara made every accommodation to be with us on the day we really needed her (it was a Sunday evening) and she spent time with us helping to explain the process. She kept in touch with us most kindly, and we had another comforting visit with her when she returned the dog's ashes to us. Dr. Sara was fantastic from the first phone conversation to the very last moment she was at our home to take the final steps with our 17 yo Westie. If you'd prefer to have your pet "pass on" in the comfort and calmness of your own home, I cannot recommend Dr. Sarah and Compassion4Paws enough. Even though the loss was very emotional, Doctor Sara helped make the situation as stress-free and compassionate as it could possibly be. Our little dog essentially went to sleep with no pain or anxiety, and dr. Sarah helped us sort through the fact that this was the best for our dog given the circumstances. She even provided a nice, short pamphlet on 'Grieving for your Pet,' which I found enlightening and helped me sort through some reactions I was having and provided some very useful perspectives. Given the always difficult nature of these circumstances, it's hard for me to imagine a better service. read more
