I always remember passing by the large Compari's restaurant that used to be on Sepulveda and Manchester in Westchester years ago where IHOP is now located. I've known about and driven by this small location countless times and never tried it. The inconvenience of limited parking and the period of time they close between lunch and dinner on weekdays are probably the two main deterrents. A friend mentioned how she gets delivery from Compari's on a regular basis. Feeling curious and lazy, I ordered a large house special pizza (extra cheese, pepperoni, sausage, bell peppers, onions, olives, and mushrooms) and lasagna for delivery. The order arrived in less than an hour and the food was hot. The delivery guy was nice. The food was generally good. Others seemed to like the pizza. The pizza definitely had a mild homestyle flavor compared to the commercial pizzas I'm more used to. The crust was pretty plain and average. The lasagna was saucy, meaty, cheesy, and good. In a bind, I would order delivery from Compari's again. read more

Today was a busy day for Compari's, which happens with all restaurants. What I will not stand for is having to wait for an hour-and-a-half for my order (which I was advised of at the time I called it in), but only receiving a portion of my order at the time of delivery. Mistakes happen, but it wasn't a mistake that 2 of the 3 items I ordered arrived thrown together. Compari's delivered a pizza with barely any sauce or cheese to one of their best customers. My salad was also thrown together - wet lettuce, some of which was very dead, with little toppings. Ok. I used to order from them on a weekly basis, at least 2-3x per week. Now I order from them every two to three weeks, in large part because I've been cooking more (and making amazing meals). I have frozen pizzas in my refrigerator that I could have eaten. That's exactly what I will do in the future. Good luck getting any further business from me anytime soon. read more

My family and I absolutely LOVE this little hidden gem! We've been coming here for a few decades, actually, and it feels like our home away from home. The owner is so warm and caring; he gives us a hug whenever we come in. The friendly atmosphere extends to his severs, Elber and Parisa, who both have so much personality. It's very cozy inside, with grape leaves and little lights covering the ceiling, and much of the time, Andrea Bocelli's music is filling the room, transporting us to Italy. We each have our own favorites, and they are ALL mouth-watering. Also, their small green salad with the chopped carrots, green pepper, tomatoes, and olives - accompanied by garlic bread that's both soft and crunchy - is such a nice way to start the meal. Their prices are surprisingly low compared to other restaurants. The parking can be a challenge, due to circumstances beyond their control, but please don't let that discourage you. Give them a try! We stopped in for dinner on our way home from the airport and had a great experience. I just love that we found a great hole-in-the-wall, family run business to support. We were greeted by a nice gentleman (the owner?) right away and were seated quickly. The server was friendly and efficient. We ordered a large garden salad, cheese pizza, and spaghetti bolognese. The salad was fresh and full of the traditional veggies. The pasta was great...a really delicious sauce! And, the pizza had tons of flavor. Yum! I'm giving this place five stars because it meets the price+quality=value modelalmost perfectly. For less than $10, you can have a great lunch including drink and side salad, with outstanding service and get in and out in a half hour on a slower day. The space is small and it's usually a wait staff of one, so don't come in with a huge group thinking you can get the same expedited service. I had the Italian sub and it was pretty tasty. Not the best Italian sub I've ever had, but for the price, in a sit down restaurant, it was excellent. Bottom line, come here if you want a cheers vibe with your lunch. Love this small hole in the wall Italian restaurant. I've tried there pizza, raviolis with pink sauces, alfredo chicken, meatball sandwich and their garlic bread. My favorite is their pizza is hand tossed thin crust. The sauce is very flavorful and not overpowering to the pizza as a whole. The right amount of cheese and topics are perfect throughout the entire pizza. Parking lot is a bit tight, if lot is full chances are you will wait to be seated...worth the wait. read more

Stopped by this place for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. It's a quaint little place! The atmosphere is very quite and somewhat romantic. The ceiling looks like you are in an Italian vineyard, with dim lighting, cute tinkling lights, vines, and grape figures hanging from the ceiling. They have lunch specials for under $10. Not only is the price good but the food is REALLY GOOD! The tomato sauce tastes really fresh, meaning it didn't taste like canned sauce. It tasted very much like sauce made from scratch! The lunch special comes with a salad, bread, your entree, and get this, a glass of house wine or beer! All for under $10! I do believe some items were $12 bucks. So back to the food, I ordered the chicken parmigiana. The chicken was perfectly cooked, not though, nor dry. The garlic bread was okay. And the service was really nice. I wanted to go to this place over 4 years, but Joe kept saying he didn't know anyone that had tried it before and that was the only thing keeping us from coming here. Til he finally gave in 1 day and just took me ( I was 1 step from just goin by myself). The food isn't great, but its really good, convenient and affordable. Joe always gets the chicken limone which is chopped chicken breast in a creamy lemon Alfredo sauce over fettucini. I've had spaghetti (then use really thin noodles) and meat balls, chicken parmesan (my fave), and chicken cacciatori (my least favorite, but still good). I prefer the penne pasta over the spaghetti. Ok, read carefully because this is a "low-key" kind of place - 4 stars for what it is, but it is not a 4 star kind of place, if that makes sense. This is a 'hole in the wall' Italian place on a somewhat Godforsaken stretch of Centinella in a tiny strip with a dry cleaners. It is 'cheesey-cozy' inside, so you won't impress a first date, but hubby and I actually sort of like it. We get seated right away, everyone acts like they value our business, the food comes within a reasonable time and is perfectly tasty, you get your bill and change in a reasonable timeframe (nothing worse than waiting and waiting to get the bill and/or to leave when you are finished, eh?). It's sort of run-of-the-mill Italian, but it's not a rip-off and they don't aggravate you, which cannot be said about many places. We've been 3 times in the last 6 months, and we have a couple of other low-key Italian places we like. So that's saying something. read more

And I want to say that ashley a. is directly responsible for me trying this place - Thanks! I got there right when it opened for the evening (5pm) and it took about 20 minutes for my order. The server was really nice and brought me ice water with lemon to drink while I waited. By the time I left, there were people at two tables, so it looks like they get good local business. You can get wine and beer here too. I ordered basic spaghetti marinara with meatballs, and linguine with broccoli, chicken, and garlic cream sauce. Orders come with garlic bread. I also got a large garden salad. All were good eats and good sized portions. Total came to about $29, which seems a little high for me, but what do I know? Maybe I'm cheap. This will definitely be my go-to place for pasta when I don't feel like making it myself. I only wish they delivered to me (they only deliver as far south as Slauson - about a 2 mile radius). Do you want a cozy little Italian place? Maybe something near LAX? This is the place. It has little lights, red and white checkered table cloths, and pretty decent Italian food for reasonable prices. There specials on the menu and those are probably your best bet. I didn't see anything over $15 on the specials menu. The other regular menu items aren't too pricey either. The wine prices are fantastic. $3 or $4 glass of wine is cool with me. We ordered the meat lasagna and the Cajun pasta. I had the choice to choose how spicy I wanted the Cajun pasta. The pasta had shrimp, chicken and sausage. And the meal came with some soft garlic bread. Delicious! And lots of carbs! Good place for dinner date. Good place if you are low on money. OMG.... I can't believe I am just writing a review for this place. I've been coming here since the early 90's when the little Italian lady owned it. I quite literally love this place. While the decor hasn't ever changed the neither has the food (in the best way possible). This place has the best Pizza in the area (Ladera, Inglewood, Westchester)for sure and quite possibly one of the best in the city. Name a better spot.... I'll wait! 6 months ago my wife ordered their meatball sandwich and enjoyed it. Tonight she tells me "let's order pizza from there, I always wanted to try it". I go online to get Compari's information and there is an "order online" button. It takes me to BringMeThat, a third party vendor like Grubhub or UberEats. I place my order and checkout, only to get an error message saying "Sorry, Compari's can't deliver to you." So I re-order for pick up. This time my payment information goes through and I get a confirmation message. So my wife goes to pick up the pizzas I ordered. She was looking forward to seeing the kind, older gentleman who helped her previously. Instead she was met with a woman who was cold, unfriendly and had a bitter attitude. Almost as if my wife was inconveniencing her. Compari's should replace BringMeThat ASAP. They charged my card a "service fee" of $4.50 but did not charge me for the food. Had I known I was going to be charged a service fee I would have called and placed the order over the phone. My wife liked the pizza. I thought is was bland. They obviously use fresh ingredients and real cheese, but they seem to stop there. Nothing really stood out, it was just average in my opinion. I've had pizza from Casa Bianca and it is bursting with flavor. What stood out the most, is during these strange times you would think customer service is something a small business would take pride in. Compari's must think their food is so good they can afford to be rude to it's customers. Not me, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Perhaps my wife went on an off-day. Really good "hole-in-the-wall" spot!! Their pasta is pretty damn good! I got the limone linguine I think that's how you spell it. It was good and their garlic bread is to die for I absolutely love it. My boyfriend had the chicken Parmesan and he loved his too. I also tried their sweet wine and that was amazing too. Their decoration inside the place really sets the mood and the music really takes you there like you're in a small restaurant in Italy, the cleaning is beautifully decorated in leaves and hanging grapes and the walls are decorated in old paintings that really sell the place. I decided to give this place a shot since it's near my boyfriend's apartment and I wanted to give a local restaurant some business. Unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. First off, service was slow. We sat and waited for the server to take our orders for 10 minutes before we were acknowledged. Antipasto Salad: This was the only redeeming dish of the meal. The cheese, salami, prosciutto and peppers were a tasty combo. The large was pretty sizable, but we were pretty hungry so we devoured this quickly. Eggplant Parmesana: The crust was a little soggy and the whole dish was overly cheesy. It felt very heavy, especially with the bed of pasta it was sitting on. It would have been better to offer vegetables as an alternative to the carb overload. Shrimp Alfredo: Totally underwhelming. Worst dish of the evening. Such delicious, authentic Italian food! We had family in town visiting and wanted to break away from the typical chain restaurants and this is nearby so we gave it a try. This is by far the very best and freshest marinara I've ever had. Everyone in our party had a something different and everyone was wowed! My husband loves spaghetti and said this was the best spaghetti he's ever had (specifically the meat sauce.) We definitely plan on returning to try some of the other dishes.
