Fried fish tacos
Farrah A.

Some of the best damn fish tacos and FRESH margarita we had during our stay on the Island. We were drawn into Compadres due to the cute street patio, a full scene of diners, and a menu of fish and lobster tacos. They don't have fried fish tacos on the menu - only grilled - but the kitchen kindly made some panko fried fish tacos for me. And the skinny margarita was made with fresh lime juice (many other bars we went to used a mix), so we were content. Ceviche was okay. Wasn't as cold as I prefer, but my sister enjoyed it and ate all of it. Friendly staff, cute interior with a Loteria wall. Great photo opp.

Whole fried snapper

To Lourdes, Roberto, Jeronimo and the chefs at Compadre's we say "Bravo "! Thank you for the freshest fish and the fresh squeezed lime juice margaritas! If you love whole fried fish, I had the grouper and my husband had the snapper. Both were superbly prepared. If you fancy a filet, definitely try the shrimp stuffed filet topped with cheese. But my absolute favorite was the whole fish, grilled and splayed Tikin Xic style, which is a YucatĂĄn specialty. Heavenly. Oh, and if you can catch the fried lobster tacos as a lunch special, don't pass them up! They'll make you cry they're so tender and fresh. This is an Hidalgo gem. I give it 5 stars

Veg tacos
Shraddha N.

Walking by the streets of Isla Mujeres, bumped into this cute restaurant with outside seating. The owner was very courteous and polite. We ordered some mango margaritas and gaucomole to start with. For entree's we ordered chicken and vegeterian tacos. The vegeterian tacos were surprisingly better than the chicken tacos. Teh veggies were very well seasoned and served with this hot sauce. Definitely a good lunch stop for tacos if you are at Isla Mujeres

T H A N K Y O U F O R S A V I N G U S ! Oh Jeez, stranded in our hotel because of a monsoon like rain, by 11am we were coffeed out, and starving. We started down the road in ankle deep water heading towards the main drag, MIGUEL HIDALGO. While slowly inching our way there barefoot, the water level was soon to my knees. Another tourist , standing in the doorway of her hotel, asked where we were going? She informed us that it probably wasn't open, as the electrical wiring on the island was not very stable in storms. Oh dear, and here we are in water!!! HELP !! So we walked 3 doors down and Compadres was open for business, thank God. By then the water was over my knees....ok, I am only 5'3'. A staff member helped us up the steps, and we were 1 of 2 parties there. Kind of traumatizing! All of the staff was so calm, and assured us that as soon as it stopped raining, the water level would be normal in less than an hour. They were correct!. They hooked us up with Tequila Sunrises, and incredible breakfasts. Our food was served in courses, and that was perfect, it allowed the booze to kick in and settle us down. Biscuits, pancakes. custom omelets, bacon, and old familiar tater triangles. OMG. All served with a smile :-) Also, it was very clean and cute in here. The focus is on service, food, and cleanliness! Love It. Such an accommodating spirit! We left full, happy, and unterrorized. THANK YOU FOR SAVING US WITH SUCH A KIND HEART

We came here for dinner, we both ordered a steak dish and oh my, it was delicious! So much flavor and cooked perfectly. Going to come back and try their breakfast!

Lobster tacos were excellent, beer was cold and the service was fast . Edgar was a fantastic waiter that spoke fluent English. I would definitely recommend if your on the Island.

Lobster Enchiladas

Absolutely Devine. I wanted lobster enchiladas and they made it happens. The green sauce is perfection. My husband was very happy with the seafood stuffed fish.

Surf and turf

Last night in Isla Mujeres we decided to try this restaurant after reading the reviews. It didn't disappoint. Two of us had the surf and turf - filet mignon cut like butter and melted in our mouths. The lobster was flavorful. The seafood combo had shrimp, octopus, squid and lobster - all delicious. The presentation of the food was wonderful. The service was good, as he checked on us constantly. At the time of this review, this establishment did not accept debit or credit cards - cash only. I found that paying with Mexican pesos was the way to go as opposed to US dollars. Highly recommended for the food and service.

Amazing authentic food

The most authentic Mexican restaurant you can get on Isla Mujeres, and also delicious margaritas that are big enough for two people. Service and staff were extraordinary, we cannot recommend it enough

BEST MARGARITAS ON THE ISLAND

Tried the lobster tacos and were blown away. Cooked perfectly. Added guacamole, pico, Chipotle mayo and lime...BAMM! The margaritas, made by Roberto, were amazing and not over sweetened. Edgar waited on us and he was very personable and welcoming

This is Max. Save a morsel for him.

Pretty solid yet uneventful food. Not overly generous with the salsa but the prices were right. You can do a lot worse

Great special! Some of the yummiest fish tacos in Mexico--fish is well seasoned and it's served with fajita vegetables. Recommend!

Very bad taco, cold meat and tasteless. Pasta was too salty. And it was very expensive... not coming back here.

I dined here on Valentines day last month with my granddaughter and her partner. It was packed but
read morewe managed to get a table right away. The hostess was nice and got us in the door. She was walking us a little towards the back, but since it was my first time to Isla, I wanted to people-watch, so I asked about a table up front. As soon as we headed over, I saw why she passed it - it was right next to the saxophone player! Thank goodness his volume level was perfect! Just loud enough to be heard over the crowds walking down the 'lane' out front and the restaurant diners' chatting. But not so loud that we 3 couldn't chat. We loved it! Now these two can EAT - and love to try everything on the menu, whereas I tend to eat smaller portions. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were fantastic - huge pieces of shrimp, so good! The lobster mac n cheese is so good, I would have loved to bring a big container of it home with me! The restaurant is very busy but very clean and tables are well organized for maneuvering a quick trip to the restroom before leaving. Our server, Maylen was attentive and pleasant. The bar area, facing the street, looked like a lot of fun, I'll have to try it next time!

There was a saxophone player while I was there. I tried the chicken tacos. They were good. There

We sat next to the bar and there were some obnoxious gringos at the bar while we were there... which is common on the north side of the island.

Traveling to Isla Mujeres in early February 2026, we wanted to try Rosa Sirena's for dinner based
read moreon the many good reviews we had read. A reservation was easy to obtain via email and we were all set for a sunset, evening meal. We were warmly welcomed and promptly seated. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere pleasant with an acoustic duo playing mellow tunes in the background. Honestly, we were a little disappointed with the view that most reviews rave about. Our sever was knowledgeable and made several suggestions. We selected the Pepita Crusted Tuna for a starter, my companion had the fresh catch which was grouper, blackened with a side of the peanut sauce. I chose the Surf and Turf. For dessert, we shared the Key Lime Pie. Everything was beautifully presented, and quite artistic. The tuna appetizer was very good, but the main courses were frankly a disappointment. The creativity of the plate did not make up for the lackluster food. The steak was tough and poorly seasoned, the lobster was just passable but also chewy and not tender. The fish was not as well cooked as other restaurants downtown and again the seasoning was lackluster. The sides, lentils and mashed potatoes were just ok. The homemade Key Lime Pie was enjoyable but again seemed to lack a depth of flavor. If the food could match the service, presentation, and atmosphere then perhaps this could be one of Isla's better dining establishments, until then "the juice was not worth the squeeze."

read morehere. What a treat. It's on a nice quiet street with plenty of parking. If not, there's a lot around the corner too. You walk all the way up to the third floor we were lucky enough to get the best seat in the house that sits around 10 or 12 people, and it faces the Caribbean sunset, we arrived and we were greeted by the owner who said that she had decided to keep the band here just for our group to stay late. The music literally pulled us out of our conversations and God is dancing out loud and in our seats at multiple times. It was a lot of fun. You can tell this is a place where people come to celebrate because there were three birthdays all within an hour of our seating, including our, we ordered and got three delicious appetizers the tuna carpaccio, the tuna tartare, and the steak tartare. They were all fabulous and equally delicious party in your mouth separately. The extra appetizer dish with actually gifted by the owners to our guest of honor as the birthday boy. Which was absolutely outstanding. It was done with class. The octopus was grilled perfectly and the sauces they used in that multi dish appetizer was just outstanding We then had all of our dinners and I had the gourd of seafood soup. It was delicious & it was filled with shrimp, calamari, and octopus. It was so much I couldn't finish it. They then came out with this huge piece of chocolate cake and about nine spoons and we shared it saying happy birthday and embarrass the daylights out of our birthday boy king. Overall, we had a fabulous time and I wouldn't hesitate to celebrate another birthday here. The owner was literally involved all night. I believe her name is Wendy with every step and checked in on us multiple times. I really felt like I was eating at her house. Any restaurant that can accomplish that is a shining star amongst the island. Keep shining Rosa Sirena. We love you. You truly give Justice to your name on the island.
