I came by looking for a good time out in my visit to this area and I had the most wonderful time. Our bartender , Jesse was absolutely fantastic. His drinks were amazing , his vibes and the way he welcomed each person , probably the sweetest vibe I've caught while I was out here. We were able to connect with other people at the bar and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is so cool as well! Will definetly be back for my next visit !

If you're out in Monterey and wanting to dance, this is literally the only place to go! Great music, interior is pretty, good drinks, meh service! The bouncer in the front is kind of on a power trip, we watched him kick some people out for being "too drunk" when that was really just not the case! Also, we had left a tab open and when we went to close out the bartenders had already did the tip for us, which was a little weird to not have the option to tip what you want to tip. But besides those little details, if you're trying to dance this is the place to go!

They took my card and added on a tip without my consent, nor informed me about it. They tried to pass it on as their printer is not working

EDIT per Yelp Guidelines: $10 entrance fee and the bartenders here takes 20% after tax from everyone here who buys a drink every time you order. They took my card, ran it and added on a tip without my consent without informing me about it. They tried to wave it through saying their printer wasn't working so they couldn't provide a receipt. I had to ask for mine, because other people with me stated this practice was happening throughout the night, even with cash. I specifically told them I didn't consent to it and they said it was what they always do on the weekend, and they are entitled to it. Bartender blatantly lied to my face. As owner states that, " 'BIG sign on the bar '20% GRATUITY ADDED TO EVERY BILL AFTER 8PM,' " yet the bartenders are unable to point that out when asked, along with the bouncers, who were very transparent and aware of your rules, but they are unaware of the tip policy or any knowledge of any posted sign. It only took 3 visits, one credit card transaction, and other people were there to tell me that they were doing this.

Trent is Ana amazing Bartender and always helps me find "my drink"...even tho idk what I want, lol. We all

What a great spot for live music!…read more It's comfortable and spacious and has a lot of people-watching potential, which can be a downside because there are a lot of passersby, including screaming kids. But it's an intimate venue that also actually has a lot of space. High top tables near the bar, for a chic city feel and then a couple of sofas near the music. I always try to grab a seat by the stairs, and they staff accomodates me if I need them to help me snag it (because in a wheelchair I can't sit at the high tables and the sofa area is often full). That's great service for you. I came in late Dec. for a favorite local act (check out Mark Banks if you have the chance, soulful yet modern). The bartender told me they don't have coffee and that I'd have to go downstairs. I looked as disappointed as I could, and he offered to go down for me. I left him a big tip for doing that but when I returned a few weeks later for the NYE live music, I went downstairs to grab my own coffee this time. I asked them if I could take it upstairs to the music and they said they serve coffee up there now, they have an espresso machine. I wonder how that transpired. If it's from the employee suggesting improvements, that's amazing. I had a dessert the first time and a cheeseplate the second time. The cheeseplate is a great value. Good service, cozy atmosphere, live local talent = new fave spot. Btw, they have some of the same menu items as Schooners, like the Angry Prawns, etc. So non-drinkers have options here.

This was one of the best I've had. I like that it was more on the shredded side so it could cook evenly. (I hate when places halve the sprouts, but then don't bake it through. These were cooked to perfection here.) The crab dip was amazing...it's the morning after as I'm typing this and my daughter is still raving about the crab dip. We all agreed that it was worthy of the price tag bc there was a good amount of real crab in it. We really enjoyed the taste and texture. We wished there were more of the garlic bread for dipping! We waited for the clam chowder bread bowl to arrive, and tore into it so we could use that to dip! For our meal, we ordered the Harvest Salad, Organic Half Chicken, Honey BBQ Ribs, Wagyu Burger, and took a mandarin coconut sherbet to go. We were all very happy with what we ordered.

I got the Cioppino, wife got the Crab Pasta and the kids got Fish N Chips + Chicken Tenders. I was very surprised to see a generous amount of crab in my soup. At some places, you get a claw and check that box off but not here. In addition to the real crab, there was a few giant shrimp, mussels, clams, fish, and calamari. Man...everything was very fresh and delicious. I would even have to probably say the best I've ever had! The soup was seasoned to perfection and not too tart. My wife's crab pasta was also very good! I shared mine with her and we swapped for a bit just to sample other dishes here. The kids plates were also high quality as expected from this nice restaurant inside the Monterey Plaza Hotel. To make my bday weekend even better I was able to score a spot right in front of the hotel which isn't easy since it was a non-raining Saturday. This is definitely a "come back and eat" place the next time we're in Monterey.

When we…read morechecked in Thursday evening, and were greeted us warmly and was incredibly helpful in recommending local restaurants and activities, which we truly appreciated. However, there was some miscommunication during check-in at both the hotel and the restaurant. We were told that our stay included complimentary breakfast. Although we had initially planned to explore local spots, we decided to take advantage of the breakfast at the hotel instead. On Friday, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, believing it was included, and then spent the day exploring beautiful Carmel and Monterey. On the day of checkout, we returned for breakfast and were surprised when our server, Rudy, informed us that our stay did not include complimentary breakfast. We explained that we had been told otherwise at check-in. Rudy was very kind and even went to the front desk on our behalf to clarify, as we were concerned about an unexpected $75 charge. Unfortunately, he confirmed that breakfast was not included, which left us confused. We decided to speak with the manager , Jessica to share our experience so she would be aware of the situation. She was incredibly understanding and, to our surprise, generously offered to take care of both Friday's breakfast and the breakfast that morning. This was completely unexpected and we just wanted to make sure we didn't get charged the $75 and we simply wanted to bring the issue to her attention to help prevent it from happening to others. We were truly impressed by her professionalism, kindness and understanding. Along with the excellent service from Rudy, this turned into an overall great experience at Sea Root. Thank you, we will be back soon!

Our waiter was very good in energy and attentive. We ordered the greek salad to start and tomato soup and shared main the shrimp linguine. I really liked how fresh the salad was and the soup was nice and warm and went well with the grilled cheese it came with. The shrimp linguinie was a pass for me, the noodles were too well done as in kind of point of sogginess. I like al dente. The flavor was okay not too overpowering, liked the tomatoes and shrimps. Got the spicy mango margarita and old fashioned. Overall had a pleasant evening and moved to the piano bar after. Would recommend to check out for at least one meal while staying at resort. We also had breakfast buffet in the morning and like another reviewer said the diy juice bar was to die for!! And of course the rest of the things like egg, sausage, oatmeal, etc r there. U can also order a poached or fried egg thru the waiter. Breakfast was $84+ with tip so a bit on the pricey side but good for the experience. Overall enjoyed our experience and stay.

We enjoyed their rooftop spa overlooking the bay- next level. The entrance to the hotel opens up to a beautiful first floor with ocean view, large fireplace, sofas and seating areas, and a small bar. The hotel offers a nightly happy hour and musical performances. During our visit we had the pleasure to discover a highly talented artist by the name of Adrea, who has the most incredible voice and presence. Visited this restaurant for Mother's day. Ironically, even though I have lived in the area for…read moredecades somehow I missed this one. Saw some reviews and photos on Yelp and decided to give it a try. As my reviews tend to be lengthy let me summarize up front and add the details for those more interested. Service was 5 star, Ambience 4.5 star, and for Food I want to go higher but for reasons I will go into I must stay with 4 star. And because I think the food is the most relevant measurement I chose 4 star. The experience overall was great. We reserved indoor as Monterey can get a bit chilly but once on ground and with outdoor fireplaces and heaters it was the better option. And with a 3.5 yo in tow the outdoor really was the better option. It gave her freedom of movement and the ability to be more of a noisy child than the indoor would permit. Our waitress was attentive and great, the seating by the fire was a bit hard but she brought out blankets that could add warmth or in our case cushion to make them less noticeable. We ordered basic pasta for our child and let me just say the portion would have fed two adult men. Nothing amazing but it was palatable and she enjoyed it. We ordered drinks to include one of their specialties and it was enjoyed. And we started off with an order of the oysters. They were fresh, well presented and offered multiple options to flavor the oysters. For main courses I selected the Hen House homemade pasta with mushrooms and saw you could add scallops for $17.00 and it sounded brilliant. The dish was flavorful, creamy and only surprising in that they delivered one stunning scallop on a side dish. Slightly confused I remarked, "ummm is this the $17 scallop". Which in retrospect I would note I really wanted to see the menu again because I sincerely believe they likely advertised it as a singular "Scallop" which leaves only myself to blame. In all honesty the scallop is probably the second best scallop I have had in my life (Libertine Social in Vegas is hands tied the absolutely best to date). But I digress... I enjoyed the dish, mourned the single scallop and cleaned my plate. We also ordered the Focaccia Bread and butter starter. Let me just say that I love bread, probably more than I should and fresh baked focaccia is at the top of my list. I am accustomed to the outside being a bit crispy but the inside being pure pillowy heaven. They appear to cut them in slices and then bake them or toast them slightly before service. Definitely not a fan of toast, or crunchy bread it was not a high point but again well presented and despite my preference I did eat it with my pasta. Lastly my partner had the Wagyu beef, the description sounded great and the presentation was there but I think there are moments that when you read a menu you envision the finished product and let's just say it felt diminished in my minds eye. Flavors aside it was well cooked and the sides tasted fine. I just felt like I heard that grating voice from the 80s or 90's..."where's the beef". Now I say all of that to provide my view on the overall experience but I would say they are definitely worth the experience but go in knowing it will be a bit pricey. And to be fair if it's beef you are looking for I recall seeing a massive 32ounce porterhouse on the menu. But the price matched its size. In the end it was a strong 4 star experience and "scallop" aside if 4.5 was an option I would probably give it. Just not a 5. Hope this helps and please take note of my photos as they convey my write up. To our waitress, you did great!
