    First mug, first beer!

Such a great place, nice and cozy, great ambience and such a wonderful place to share time with friends and live in the tradition.

Fish and chips. Great food and reasonable price.

Great atmosphere. The food and drinks are great and reasonably priced. Great service. Interesting military heritage and history in the Hotel del Monte. A must visit in Monterey on the Naval Postgraduate School campus (must have base access).

    Merry Christmas!

My first trip to this phenomenal bar was back in 1991 after returning home from the first Gulf War. I had TAD orders to NPS back then as I bestowed my real-life war experiences with the NPS students at the time. Many times over the years, I have made it a point to come back to appreciate all the enchanted memories I have of all the incredible military brethern I have hoisted a beer with inside this very space. Thanks for the great food and great memories!

What a wonderful experience at the Trident Room. The history of the bar was interesting to discover. I bought my mug tonight and looking forward to using it over the next 12 months.

This is a bar in the bottom of Hotel Del Monte locates on Naval Postgraduate School. To have entry to this bar, you have to have base privileges (like active duty or a mil retiree) or be able to convince your military neighbor to take you! The setting is beautiful, tons of dark wood and the original stain glass windows. There is a plaque outside the bar that explains the history (during prohibition it was labeled "child's playroom'!!). Out the back doors is an elegant rose garden where you can smoke (rumor is there is an unofficial cigar club that meets on Thursday afternoons). From the ceilings hang mugs available for purchase at the bar. Military memorable line the walls. The bar is fully stocked and carries 10 local beers on tap. They also carry a selection of local wines from the Carmel valley. The food is typical bar-fare. They do have vegan and gluten-free options. Tonight I order a burger and fries. Amazingggggggg!!!!!! $10 for burger and fries. The bun was soft and seemed like it was baked in-house!! And come on, cheapest burger in Montery Peninsula. Holy crap that was good!

Parker (the owner) is the real deal--passionate, witty, sometimes sarcastic, and genuinely fun. The cozy bar is surrounded by ever-changing photos, art, and laugh-out-loud signage. Stories live here: wall to wall, corner to corner, and everywhere in between. Locals and travelers exchange stories, play dice or cards. The drinks are beautifully basic--three ingredients, one of them ice. No fancy nonsense--just premium pours, neat or on the rocks. *And now the gut punch: they're being forced to close the same month they're celebrating their 100-year anniversary. The new building owners don't seem to care about the character and legacy of Carmel, the devotion of a fourth-generation owner, or what it means to lose a place that's thrived for a century. It's heartbreaking--for locals and travelers alike. Go while you still can. Last call, and cheers to everyone who's loved this place--"where everybody knows your name." XX

I was so thrilled to check this pub out especially with our doggie, Meatball the Bulldog! How perfect right? A Bulldog at The Bulldog Sports Pub. We snagged the last available booth, and it had crumbs on there. Not clean. SMH. I went to the bar to order some drinks for my boyfriend and me since he left his wallet in the car. It was raining that night, and we parked several blocks away. The service was okay. I remember the guy bartender said $29something, but then he charged me $30something. I got the Jalapeno Margarita while my boyfriend had the Tito's Mule. My drink was very sweet with a kick of jalapeno while his was pretty good. They had music playing. It seems that there is a modern jukebox where you can pay to pick a song. There was one pool table for people to play. So many people came up to pet Meatball and give him so much attention. He absolutely loved it! There was one guy who asked if he can say "Hi" to Meatball, and we said that it was okay like we normally do. This weirdo was basically making out with Meatball; not cool at all man. Then Meatball flipped on his back, and he was holding Meatball. My boyfriend told him to let go of Meatball. It was such an uncomfortable interaction. Not normal at all. He even said, "This is my NYE kiss!" SMDH. The guy sat down at a table that is across from us, and he kept looking at us. We quickly finished our drinks, and then we left to ring in the new year at our hotel lobby instead. We should have just hung out in our hotel lobby instead of going out; it was much better there.
