We accidentally went to clean eat which is also como instead old town tap house. So since we were inside we decided to try it. Insane prices and small portions. Burger did not come with fries or a side that was an extra 8$. I'm not sure if this is a restaurant or a place for the staff to hang out. When we walked up to the entrance, the hostess looked at me like, "What do you want?" Then, we sat at the table for a long time before the server came to take our order. It was so long, that I thought, "Are we supposed to order at the bar?" The queso was bland as was their guacamole. The chips were super thin and broke a ton trying to eat either of those. 3 tacos for $16 and it was essentially a taco shell with a pile of chicken on them. I've had the same from taco trucks in the SF Bay Area for half that price. Overall I wouldn't recommend based on both the service and the lackluster food. read more

A bit disappointing! My family and I came here the other day. We were quickly seated which I appreciated and ordered our drinks. I also liked that they automatically give you glasses and water. However the food was the let down and that's obviously the whole reason for coming here the tortillas fell apart. When I order street tacos I expect grilled meats so I thought it was interesting that it was shredded chicken. There really wasn't any flavor? Everything tasted fresh but the flavor just was NOT there. The chips were a bit stale and the salsas could have been better. And my burrito was so salty, I only ate a quarter of it. The ugly: - the service. Upon arrival, we waited several minutes to be seated and no one even acknowledged our presence. They also use a QR ordering system, so no one comes around to take your order, you don't have the opportunity to ask for food recommendations, and no one walks around asking how your food is. They just have staff to bring out your food and drink when ready. When you pay, the system is set to automatically tip 20%...but what am I tipping for? read more

I've been to this restaurant a ton of times over the last few years but last night's experience was the worst. The waitress was awkward which isn't a big deal but then she became rude and made our entire family feel uncomfortable. Out of the blue she said to my husband, "I need to ask you why you look at me like that?" Wtf? No one knew what she was talking about so I asked why did you say that and she said, "lots of people look at me like I'm Mexican." I'm not kidding, she said that! I'm not sure why she would say that or more importantly why that would be an insult, especially given it IS a Mexican restaurant. The whole thing was awkward and to make it worse it was clear she's concerned that people may think she's Mexican. No one cares if she is or isn't Mexican, it's totally irrelevant. No idea how I missed this place for so long (especially since it's on the main drag), but I'm so glad I found it! I called in takeout for lunch and got the carne asada tacos. I also wanted to try the queso so I picked up an order of that as well. I was able to order and pay over the phone, which I appreciated during this weird time. My order was ready in about ten minutes which was AMAZING- and I got a text when it was ready too. The food overall was pretty good. The carne asada tacos did fall apart, but considering that it was a takeout order and the tacos are homemade, I don't think that's necessarily their fault. The quality of the meat was on point, and it had a great smoky flavor. Two tacos would have been a perfect light lunch, but I also had to try the queso. The amount of queso you get for $9 was almost comical for one person- you get a literal soup bowl of delicious melty cheese and a huge thing of chips. The menu on their website is a little out of date (the description of the tacos didn't quite match, for example), but someone else has posted a picture of their current menu on their Yelp page. read more

Wow. My husband and I were shocked at how horrible the service is here. I have never experienced such horrible service and restaurant ordering set up and we eat out a lot. Pros: The food way okay Cons: 1. Why ask for peoples numbers if you're not going to contact them when their table is ready? If we didn't show back up on our own, we would not have been seated. 2. You order through a QR code. I have been to restaurants where this works because servers come around to clarify and it goes smoothly. Not here... you have to physically get up from your seat and wonder around looking for anyone to help you. 3. The items listed in the food do not always match the list under it to take away or add on. This makes ordering and customizing very difficult. This is why you need your servers to come check in with the patrons. 4. The thin tall blonde with short hair spent almost the entire time we were there chatting with her friends. I would fire this worker, she is losing you money. 5. They don't give you napkins. We couldn't find anyone that would help us so we just went with out. 6. I had ordered avocado in my burrito, and yet it was not added. I eventually was able to get the blonde referred to above, attention and let her know. She never came back. I waited as long as I could, but my husband was almost done eating. So I ate. The avocado eventually was brought to my table by someone else and I was already done. I asked for it to be taken off the tab. She told me she took a dollar off (even though avocado was $2). She ended up not actually having any idea how to fix the check so we just paid and left. 7. Having a loose dog with no collar on wondering around your restaurant and being fed table scraps is dangerous. Can't wait for the health inspector to show up when that's happening. 8. The QR code ordering system is bust as the service is not great. There is no one to give you their suggestions and make sure your order went well. There are nothing but bus people bringing and removing plates. Then, to add insult to injury, the bill comes with a default 20% tip. For what, the bus boy? That is the downside, the upside is the food, which is very good as are the drinks. I think between the four of us, we had every taco and they were all very good. The salsa was a bit mild and the chips nothing to write home about but so what. There are so many choices in the area now, they need to step-up their game on the service and improve the atmosphere and no, I probably will not be back. read more

What a strange experience... First off, before the review, it was hands down the best Shrimp Taco I've ever had. That being stated ... the wet burrito was the worst! So here is the break down... We decided to stop here for dinner after floating down the river. As soon as we walked up, we could tell there were some issues. First off nobody greeted us. There was a sign at the podium saying to grab a menu and look at it while we waited in line. There was no actual line of people, so I guess we were first in line. Also, there were only 3 tables with customers with about 12 plus tables empty. After a few minutes of not being acknowledged, my wife went up to the counter and asked about seating and three employees were standing at the counter talking. One of the girls said to just grab a table. We are six people (me, wife, 4 kids) and most of the tables were for 2 or 4 people, so I asked if I could put two together. The waitress almost yelled at me raising her voice saying you can't move anything around. She pointed at a table in the corner saying we could sit there, however there were only five chairs. I told her there were six of us and could we grab a chair and she was like ' I just told you can't move anything...' So yeah, apparently they have enough business that they don't need to consider customer appreciation, return customers, or just general politeness. The next issue is there's a small sign saying that you need to order your food from the counter, wearing a mask, and you pay for the food before you get it. You give them your phone number, and they text you and let you know when the food is prepared. There was a waitress walking around helping people, she brought some food and drinks to a table, however apparently we did not sit at the right spot or something. I'm not really sure. We ordered a type of margarita, and a quite pretty mixed drink. When the waitress went by, my wife told her that the drink was spicy. I took a drink of it, and absolutely a drink had chili peppers or some kind of Cayenne pepper in it. I read the description, and they didn't say anything about spicy or peppers. OK, the waitress offered to get us a different drink so my wife just took another margarita. What we ordered: Cocktails: Mangonada Como Margarita Food 3 X wet beef (carne asada) buriotos shrimp tacos Carnitas tacos Carne Asada The Margherita was not that good, the Mangonada though pretty and nice fruit, it was spicy, so I suggest the people in charge list it as spicy. As for the 3 wet beef burritos, there was barely any beef. All 3 boys cut open the burrito and one found only 5 small chunks. The very nice looking burrito was stuffed with rice and beans. $11 for a beef burrito you kinda want beef. If this is not normal, then maybe the ordering of three beef burritos and beef tacos cut them a little short? But better to tell us than to cheat and give less meat. The shrimp tacos were the highlight. The shrimp were very large, and cooked perfectly. The flavor of the taco was amazing as well as the homemade corn tortilla which I'm assuming it was handmade as it was thick and fresh. The chimichurri sauce on the shrimp tacos was awesome. Overall we spent over $90 on nine tacos, three burritos and two drinks. For what they give, definitely not happy here. I hope the establishment reads this and adjust the poor service, talking down to customers, leaving patrons in line and not even acknowledging them, and then skimping on Beef burritos that had almost no beef. I would consider coming back here just for those shrimp tacos, however we hesitate after being treated badly and left standing at a podium while workers are socializing with each other it's not something I look forward to. read more

This is currently my favorite Mexican spot in downtown Truckee. I am especially biased toward restaurants that utilize Toast Tab yes ! With a group of friends or family? Grab a table at Como and enjoy the relaxing ability to scroll the menu and order straight from your phone. No need to wait for restaurant staff and don't be bashful when you order a third round of tacos! So the food: we had our favorites and we had some items we'd pass on next time. The margarita was great--all fresh ingredients, no processed mixes. The queso was addicting. Spanish rice? A hard pass. Even my SO who will eat anything in front of him struggled to enjoy the bland, over cooked rice. TACOS from best to not-so-great: carne asada, pollo, shrimp. Highly recommend it for folks who are visiting downtown Truckee. The bad -- The tips selection on the app/web while checking out only allows you to tip the waitress/waiter from 15-20% fixed. Although we seated ourselves, ordered ourselves on the app, and put the dirty plates away when we are done. Found this place while we we walking around Truckee for our weekend stay. It's outside dining during Covid and self serve. The food here is more like Americanized than authentic Mexican. We tried the carnitas and shrimp tacos and they weren't good. The "tortilla" was crunchy and it had different kinds of toppings. I prefer the authentic cilantro, onions, meat, and tortilla. We also ordered guacamole, cheese dip, and ceviche. Cheese and guacamole were decent. The star of all the foods were the freshly fried pork rinds! We demolished it. Okay, so I LOVED the new ordering process they got going on here. The QR code ordering is awesome, it goes by way faster, drinks and food comes to you WAY faster. Anyways, the ambiance is way awesome. The heater lamps all are on, and so you stay super warm and the waiters were awesome! The food was awesome, I had the breakfast burrito, the chorizo was bomb. Delicious tacos in Truckee because of their homemade tortilla. However, the fish in the fish tacos were finger-sized small but the other meats like carne asada and carnitas were plenty and delicious. Excellent Mexican food in down town Truckee. Short, simple menu, featuring 7 types of tacos, and tasty appetizers, and excellent cocktails. We loved the shishito roasted peppers - just the right heat. And we tried 6 of the 7 tacos. They are packed with filling, and super tasty. Try the cauliflower and the fish and the shrimp. Coco has very reasonable prices on what has become a fancy dining street. There's plenty of outdoor dining space and people were all taking Covid seriously (masks, spacing, hand sanitizers etc). We found this place while passing by and decided to try it out. We order some mini tacos, queso and chips, margaritas, and street corn. The queso was good we ate all that! And was a big serving for 4 plus people! I loved the margaritas! I could come back just to sip on the drinks! The street corn I wouldn't order again, it's not what I pictured. Such a sad terrible experience today and would likely not be back. Wait time told 5 minutes and after 20 was told I canceled it, literally while standing 5 feet from boating station and never even received any text. After being sat, was able to make a drink order fairly soon so good on that. Appetizers were delivered then waited a bit for drinks so get that bars can get busy so ok with that. Drinks delivered by different server, and order taken, which seemed fine. Few minutes later, another server delivered food (too quick to be ours) and it was messed up. Delivering server was rude when it was pointed out. It appeared she was frustrated with the order taker as she asked him something before delivering to us. Food was already cold on delivery then waited another 5 minutes to get someone's attention to get napkins. Tacos need napkins. They also forgot one taco which when pointed out, shockingly rude, but again, think frustrated. Was able to order another beer eventually when someone came by. About 10 minutes later, got the missing taco. When all food was done and drinks empty for nearly 30 minutes, kept trying to get attention so we could just pay and leave. Still empty used dishes never taken away. (75 minutes into it) Tried to go inside to pay and received cold (we'll get to you) response. Not just us but several people trying to pay and leave. Servers not anywhere near tables but just BS ing. Same thing 20 minutes earlier when trying to get attention to pay. Original food cold. Guac amazing, drinks good, service terrible, hosting bad, location and options fantastic. Not sure what to make of today. If staffing wasn't available, then shut seating sections down. Side note, they did seat two large parties of over 10. I get how that impacts things, but don't seat if don't have the staffing. Never even knew who are server really was. read more
