Decent food but very over priced. I've had tapas many times over the years. Como's acceptable, but a bit bland, not as flavourful as at the old El Patio on Cambie St, or as authentic. More of a trendy spot for undiscriminating condo dwellers in this rapidly gentrifying neighbourhood. We spent about $120 (before tip) for 4 dishes, with 4 beers and a shared dessert. I'm happy to pay that for a decent dinner for 2, but the ok food and very casual service weren't that good. Notably the wine list is very heavily marked up. This place is for those who get excited about the trend to offer heavily marked-up Spanish tinned seafood as restaurant meal. No plans to return. read more

Nice lively local Spanish restaurant. Maybe a little loud if you are not in the mood. Main and E7th ave. Quite casual, doesn't take reservations unless for 5+. read more

My boyfriend took me for dinner here on my birthday this weekend. I wanted something unique, casual, and modern, and that's exactly what I got. The food was excellent and portions were generous compared to most tapas bars I've tried. Drinks were great too - try the rose Moscow mule! Service was quick and friendly and I enjoyed the intimate atmosphere and lively vibe. Will definitely be going back soon! read more

After what has been a week of uncertainty, we went to try this place that has been on my bucket list ever since it was rated by Air Canada as the 2nd best restaurant in Canada. We managed to make it in time for happy hour and recommend standing at the bar as they hand out on the house tapas. They gave us what was similar to an arancini ball with black squid ink inside and it was delicious, paired with their HH red wine, it was much needed given what's going on lately. Then they gave us sautéed mushrooms on toast given my dietary restrictions of no beef or pork. Then I ordered mushroom croquetas (3 to an order) which were so flavorful. Then we went to sit at a table and shared the charred octopus (which is their most popular item) and it was one of best I have had. Smaller portion given the price but it is a tapas after all. Also since we enjoyed the first on the house tapas, and it could not be ordered as they make those fresh daily I believe only for happy hour on the house tapas, the bartender suggested the arroz negro, black squid ink paella rice which was excellent. It was a very satisfying meal to what has been an emotional week. So glad finally got to try this place and would definitely go back. They know what they're doing! Only negative was one of the restrooms had a broken plate on the floor which was not safe for their guests but they had other restrooms so figured they would take care of it once I informed the staff. read more

I find the food here just average and quite overpriced. On the three occasions I've visited after spending about $80 per person (2 drinks) we still leave hungry. They do have a good Spanish drinks like vermut and their happy hour is fun : free tapas with a drink order at the bar. I also find their servers a little pretentious and not the most friendly. I would probably only come back for drinks and tapas in the future during happy hour. read more

Rude! Was so excited to eat here as I love this sort of dining and it is so close to the office. Arrived in advance of my friend for a 5pm drink and nosh. Restaurant was half full with both high tops and regular dining tables but I was not permitted to sit. When my friend arrived we were shown only high top seats, but as my friend suffers from terrible vertigo, we repeatedly asked for a chair at one of the empty tables. No go...forced to leave as only option offered by host! Unbelievable. read more

I've been here twice, and our first time was actually quite decent. Thus the reason why I was back with a group of my friends the second time for a triple date. The second time around, I believe our server was Mark (according to our bill). He was pleasant at first, and took his time explaining their specials for the evening. He recommended a few dishes, and recommended that we ordered tapas to share as a group (as usual in a Spanish tapa place, understandably). Due to the fact that a couple in our group were vegetarian, we decided that it was best to just order as couples instead to make things easier for US. When we informed our server this, his entire mood and tone changed. He became annoyed and snarky. He kept repeating that the food would just 'come whenever' and not all at once, which we had also repeatedly told him that we understood and had no issue with. I felt it was also because we didn't buy into his up sell of some exquisite ham they had at the meat station. When it was time for the bill, we noticed he had mixed up 2 items from mine and my boyfriend's bill and placed it on our friend's bills. We mentioned it to him, and he then had the audacity to state outloud to us 'and THAT'S why we just order as a table and have everything on ONE bill', huffed, and walked off. Buddy, we saw you write down what we ordered and had it separated and grouped together properly when you took our order. So it's now our problem that you couldn't take the time to print off 3 different bills properly? We were taken aback by the comment, and wasn't too pleased with his attitude. Our server then went back to the POS and corrected our bill. He walked back, placed 3 bills onto the table, didn't speak a word and had actually ROLLED HIS EYES then walked away. He never came back after that as he had sent another server to come take our payment. We had mentioned to the other server who took our payment that our initial server was not pleasant at all. This second server didn't really know what to say, but still apologized for our initial server's behalf. Food was decent and quite tasty, but very expensive for the amount of food we were given. And be aware, bread is NOT free. They charge you 2 dollars for 4 mini slices from a loaf of store bought bread. We all definitely left hungry, which shouldn't happen if I'm paying over 100 dollars for a pair. Not on my list anymore of places to go. read more

Excellent Happy Hour. Interesting tapas that were delicious and well presented. We shared a great bottle of red wine at 40% off. Our server was knowledgeable and efficient. All around a great evening and we will be back. read more

Overpriced, music too loud...... We detest having to scream at eachother across the table. Not very authentic at all for a Tapas joint.... Food is nothing special either.... We wanted to check it out as it is new, but will not go back! Lots of eateries in the same area, competition is fierce. read more

Such a cute place! Lots of character (especially in their bathrooms where the walls are pasted with photos of soccer players) and a fun atmosphere. The place is a little small, but that made for a more intimate experience. Quite a few different menu options, most of which are on the smaller side - you are meant to get a few to share with the table so everyone can try a bit of everything. My favourite dish was the chickpeas with spinach, panchetta and pine nuts. I was also pleasantly surprised by the ox tongue and highly recommend their cider for a drink. Overall I had a good experience and would definitely recommend giving it a try! read more

I walked by this place and grabbed a paper menu to show my husband, cause he loves Spanish tapas. We decided to go the next day for 4-5 pm Happy Hour, which is 25% off food, 40% off bottles of wine and free tapas at the bar with drink purchase. Sounds great, right? We walked the 20 mins from home and got there around 4. Sign in the window "sorry closed for maintenance until 5". No problem - we went for a beer across the street to wait it out. Went back at 5. Asked if we could still get the happy hour since we showed up at 4 and waited an hour. Nope! (we could get the 40% off a bottle of wine, but no food discount, server said. Not surprising since they price the wine approx $90 a bottle). We stayed anyhow. The food was good, but not worth the aggravation. $100 tab - not including tip - for four small tapas plates (one was just olives) two glasses of cheap wine and a sangria. We stopped at Ignite Pizza on the way back home. Two delicious slices for $8! (We are not cheapskates, but nevertheless felt ripped off) Won't be back. read more

Tried it out as it is new. However, will not be going back. Overpriced, much too noisy as the music is too loud and everyone is shouting at eachother instead of having a nice relaxing time and conversation. I do not like to compare restaurants by name, but the Tapas resto on Main near Union is much better, cheaper and a great overall experience.... Main and the Fairview area is full of restaurants and bars... this one does not stand out, the food is very ordinary as well! read more

This is the place I would take a date if I was trying to demonstrate that I'm both low maintenance yet sophisticated. It's cozy, loud, and lively if you go on a Saturday night. Their cocktails are refreshing and I can't resist a nice list of Spanish wines to pick from. Maybe just go for drinks if you can, as ordering even a few small plates can get pretty pricey. I recommend the goat cheese stuffed peppers. read more

We were both still hungry when we left. Everything we had was great, but the portions were very, very, small. Small portions are normal for tapas, but these tapas are priced like small meals. We guessed we were another 100$ from being full, so we left. Two people spent 120$ and got 6 drinks and 5 tapas. read more

atmosphere: medium and nicely decorated especially love the football players artwork. customer service: friendly price: expensive for what you get especially in the hood. food: we had a bunch of appies to share. read more

Really pricey. Cocktail was good around $13 for a drink. Ordered the ox and tail dish for around $16, portion was tiny. Great atmosphere for a drink with friends and small dishes to share. Not meant for people who are hungry and want a full dinner. read more

Since Como opened, I have been back many times. Mainly due to proximity to home, and a few great dishes. The thinly sliced fried eggplant with rosemary and honey is a must have each visit. My annoyance with their cost per portion ratio continues. For example, on a recent visit, had the clams in vermouth, which came to around $2 per little teensy teensy clam when you did the math. The tomato salad (nightly special) was amazing, I could have eaten a bowl of it, but not for $17/ plate. About the only thing you can fill up on and not feel like you are a sucker about paying for is the boring old stand-by Potates Brava. Lots of people were ordering it. BUT, here's the thing that might make me drop my review from three stars, to two. The elfin' napkins. They are charging $2 - $3 more for everything across the board, but the paper napkins are so thin, you need to use an entire container to wipe the olive oil off your grubby hands. Thankfully, had hand sanitiser in my bag, so did not have to rely on the soviet era napkins. All that said, a great little place and I'll keep being a regular patron. Our server was informative, friendly, and efficiently kept our wine / cava flowing. read more

Wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Sat at the bar for about 30 minutes before we were able to get a table. We had the tomato bread dish and it was really wonderful. The octopus dish was one of the best we've ever had, layered with potatoes on the bottom and with a wonderful texture. The croquetes were also incredible, with a nice cheesy filling. The tortilla (omelette with potatoes) was good but lacked some salt. The burger was fresh and accompanied by potato chips. The ham was delicious and light. I would definitely go back. Everyone around us was incredibly excited about the food and the atmosphere was very authentic. read more

Very nice n tasty taparia with taste of spain. Interior is nice n service is not bad. Just doesnt have wheel chair access and i dunno how they got away from the city bylaws. Food very tasty overall but price is pretty steep to lose a star read more

Amazing experience! Cocktails and service at the standing bar was amazing as always. I would highly recommend the toreznos (crispy pork belly) and a vermut to start! read more

Yup, great place for friends, family and/or couple. Spanish tapas food choices. No reservations unless a table of six or more. Just off Main Street so easy to find. Parking may be a challenge. Get there early for a decent table. Very extensive menu with many fantastic choices. Very utilitarian design with lots of lights. Service was very good with knowledgeable servers. Great choices from drinks list; cocktails, wine, beer etc. Great place to socialize and eat smaller plates that you share. We'll be back. read more

My friend and I order the Galician octopus, meatballs and steak with peppers. The octopus portion was incredibly small for what it cost. The meatballs dish had 5 tiny meatballs. The only dish we thought was pretty good was the steak and peppers. I'm from Spain myself and I felt so ripped off eating at this place. We had 3 glasses of wine and with the tapas + tip it came to $150. We left hungry and soooo disappointed. I will not go back. read more

Excellent food and atmosphere. There are 2 areas of the bar to wait at when waiting for a table. Wine and cocktails are a good price. We had the clams in Vermouth, Huevos Rojos and Hamburguesa con Foie. Excellent choices. read more

Went here Friday night with my daughter and was pleasantly surprised. Having grown up with this type of cuisine in my family and having visited San Sebastián recently, we were not sure what to expect. The food and service was great! We had the croquettas x2 they were sooo good! Patatas bravas were solid and the chorizo and chickpea stew reminded me of the food I grew up with! We also shared a can of the mussels and they were terrific and worth every penny. Some of the reviews questioned the portion size for the money, but I thought it was fair and consistent with the servings we had at many of the pintxo bars we visited in San Sebastián. I think the value for money was good and I'll definitely be returning as I want to make my way through the menu! read more

Great food and great service and we will go back because of it but very unhappy with the wine cost. We bought a bottle of the Autor Priorat at a cost of $74 it was really nice, I thought it would be about $35 in the stores. I went to my local wine store to see if they could get it, they said they could but only by the case at a cost of $22.99 each. For a restaurant to charge $74 for a $23 bottle of wine is a rip off, I will not do that again. Like I said I will go back but not order wine. read more

With all the buzz surrounding Como, we were really looking forward to trying it. First off, the service was really great. But the food, ah, the food. The shrimp were delicious, the pork belly okay and the rest was down hill from there with the daily special receiving a big thumbs down from everyone. And $3 for 5 thin slices of baguette! Really? Not saying you shouldn't try it but we won't be back soon. read more

Awesome spot for tapas and drinks. Went with two friends, we picked a few items then gave our server carts blanch on sending other dishes. Highlights: gin tonic selections, Steak and peppers, empanadas, bikini sandwich with lamb pastrami, chorizo sausage read more

The owners have put a lot of time and effort into bringing a Spanish bar to the city that pays close attention to a lot of unique details. The service is excellent (Shiva was our server). The food and overall vibe was very good but the only thing I'd say they need to work on is the pricing. $10 for a kalimotxo is pretty crazy, especially when in Spain it's a drink that people do for botellón (which is pre-gaming in a park before going to a bar) and consists of mixing box wine and Coca Cola. Charging people $10 for what amounts to a couple ounces of red wine and coke is not fair to the patrons. $9 for 3 croquetas is also a bit nuts, even though they were very tasty. I know you can't get Spanish prices in Vancouver, but even by Vancouver standards Como's prices are high. read more

Food was decent but extremely overpriced for what you get. We spent over $200 and left feeling hungry. Our server made several offputting, smart-ass comments throughout the evening, resulting in an uncomfortable experience. Would not recommend. read more

I went with 2 girlfriends for a celebration in June. Being new on Main Street, its quite busy and was full when we arrived. After a short wait we were able to get a seat, and ordered about 5 or 6 dishes - olives, patatas bravas, manchego and a meat (can't remember what type), a small sandwich type of thing, and something else. Bread is not included with any of the cheese/ meat selections. All of the dishes tasted fine, but nothing blew us away. Portions were disappointingly small, and I could tell we were being very careful that each person had an equal share/ taste of the plate. We also had 2 drinks each, which were good but also very expensive for the size. ($13 each.) The service is casual, which fits the vibe of the place, but we were a bit confused if we were being served by one person or many, as our first waiter disappeared with no word. None of us seemed particularly wowed walking out of there still quite hungry (having spent about $60 each). We went back to my place and ordered pizza, agreeing we wouldn't return. Not worth the hype. read more

Very good food. excellent quick service. nice vibe. come early because it appears to be a busy place.
