Terrific first experience at Community Brew & Tap last night. Our waitress Emerald was very sweet! I recommend making a reservation via OpenTables. My partner had the Old Fashioned cocktail and I had the Collins. He LOVED the Old Fashioned. My Collins was good but would've been even better with a garnish :). We split the Caesar salad & Truffle Mac n Cheese. I had the 6oz filet with the parm garlic butter. He had the ribeye with the same butter. We split the Tres Leches cake for dessert. I hear how wonderful this restaurant is but i don't know how you have any business. I have been calling everyday for a month during business hours. Most of the time there is a message that the business can't take calls and the few times the call goes to an answering machine, I have left messages to please call me for a reservation. I have emailed several times, to never get a return email! It looks easy to make a simple reservation on line but it won't allow you to request seating on the main floor for handicap seating since there is no elevator for the upstairs. This happened last year also and our birthday celebration that we wanted to have at Community Brew and Tap came and went because they would NOT RETURN messages or emails. We had the honor of trying of @communitybrewtap last night and it was so amazing. We started the evening with the Wagyu Carpaccio and Grilled Bacon. For dinner we tried the New York Strip and Wagyu Burger with the Truffle Brussels Sprouts. To drink we tried the Smoked Old Fashioned and Mountain Muletini. The service was A++ and so was the food. It is the perfect spot for a celebration of any kind or an intimate date night. The building was formerly a bank built over 100 years ago and the decor is a modern twist on the time. Terrible service. We had a reservation at 8pm, didn't even get seated til 8:20pm. Then our server didn't come by to get our drinks til 8:35pm. She came back and we put our order in right away, as we explained we have a 2 hour drive home, after coming here after a basketball game. She took our food order at 8:46pm. It's right now 9:30 and we still haven't gotten our food, as the restaurant is pretty empty. There is only 4 of us here, and no one ordered anything complicated. My daughter and I ate here earlier for her 13th birthday & we were so impressed. Our waitress was Colleen and she was so helpful and sweet. Every person we encountered that worked there was beyond kind. The food -- omg. Delicious. My daughter had the 6 oz. filet with mashed potatoes & I had the Alfredo. I can't eat shrimp so they substituted a bar chicken for me and that was so good. My kiddo (who is not the easiest to please) quickly said how much she liked it. She asked to come back monthly for our mom/daughter date. Oh -- we also got the Cinnamon Cake & it was also amazing. Highly recommend dining here. We will definitely be back! We had dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. They renovated the old bank building and it is beautiful! Our waitress was Colleen and she was wonderful and was able to answer all of questions about food and drinks. The raspberry mojito was perfect as was the champagne. I ordered the filet which was like butter and my husband had the prime rib which was tender, full of flavor and served with shaved horseradish. We shared a chopped salad which was probably the best I have ever tasted and mashed potatoes which were creamy and spot on. Last we had the bourbon brûlée and peach cake with peach ice cream. Our B&B recommended this place and after our trip to Helen was a complete disappointment as far as restaurants go, we decided to make the 30 min drive to Cornelia and check it out. The building is beautiful, the atmosphere is upscale, fine dining and the staff was wonderful. We had drinks at the bar while we waited for the restaurant to seat for dinner. The food was delicious, I had the filet. My only complaint is I wish their alacarte sides were not "sharable" sized. I would have ordered more than just mashed potatoes if I knew the portions would be for 1 person. My husband doesn't eat any of that stuff so I was kind of bummed that I couldn't try more things. If you live nearby and can take leftovers home, I guess that would be ok. read more

Saturday evening was my first visit but it certainly will not be my last! The dishes we had were fantastic and what they've done with the aesthetics of this building provides an elegant and sophisticated setting. The pork belly appetizer, simply stated was the best either of us have ever had... it absolutely melts in your mouth! The French onion soup was delightful, rich and savory perfect for a chilly evening. For entrées we had the pork chop and the 45 day, dry aged Kansas City strip. I chose bone marrow to top the Kansas City strip which added a great deal of savory flavor to an already delicious cut. It was cooked perfectly, medium rare and was incredibly flavorful. The pork chop is not one to be missed either! So many places over cook pork but that was not here, this one truly delicious! To be certain they have a lot of talent in the kitchen and it shows on the plate for sure! It is worth mentioning that in comparison to well-established restaurants the service here (after only three weeks) has some catching up to do with the high bar set by everything else there doing so well. It did not seem to be from lack of effort or enthusiasm, everyone seem to be doing their level best but more experience and perhaps some training should take care of this overtime. I would imagine and as many of us have experienced that it is a tough time for restaurants to get employees at all and I hope others will be patient with all restaurant staff these days. They and the whole staff instantly set their guests at ease and take care of their every need. And the location. Fabulous. The building is a historic bank, completely transformed by its visionary owners. Historic exposed brick with early 20th century advertising murals. Hundred year old exposed beams. The restaurant would look completely comfortable in the most chi-chi neighborhoods in Atlanta. Instead this gem is tucked away in charming downtown Cornelia, tucked away in the highlands of. It's really tough to say this because the ambiance and service were excellent. But I have to say 4 stars because of the value. I had the 12oz smoked filet @ $90 with no side. It came cooked correctly but was cool to the touch. It definitely sat for a few minutes before coming to the table. Then the powder/seasoning on top was a little odd. Overall it tasted good but not $90 good. Just being honest. Then the side was extra so for some Mac n cheese it made my meal $100. Mac n cheese was great though. My wife had salmon and it was pretty good. Salty but pretty good. Cocktails were excellent. Wine and bourbon lists were abundant and there were many options. The prohibition-era, moody maximalist style interior is gorgeous, the food is so flavorful and lovingly crafted/plated and our server was such a delight (petite black-haired young lady). We had the wedge salad with blue cheese, prosciutto and dill green goddess dressing (so refreshing and delicious), wagyu beef carpaccio (not my favorite, but good), my son had the wagyu burger (and he raved about it), my husband had the tomahawk (what a massive, deliciously-aged steak), I had the shrimp Alfredo (best I've ever had) with creamed corn (you must try it!!!) and my mother had the shrimp and grits (I didn't taste it but she liked it and it looked amazing). We also had two different old fashioned drinks (made just right), the mint chocolate martini (they melt cotton candy into it!) and a mezcal mule (not really a fan, could not taste the mezcal - it just tasted like sour mix to me and looked rather plain). If I were to make any suggestions, it would be to expand the craft cocktails selection and include some more unique drinks. Met my little brother here on his way back to Atlanta to fly out. Staff was super friendly, table was already setup for our reservation of 3. For drinks we had water and the Oktoberfest beer. Food was phenomenal and great plating! Had a smoked filet that came out on a slab of wood covered in a glass dome filled with smoke. Smoke wasn't over powering, and could tastes hints throughout the meal. Had the Brussel sprouts and Mac n cheese as sides. I genuinely do not understand the high ratings for this establishment. The food is mediocre and extremely overpriced. No one at my table received stellar, or even passably good food. The prices are higher than much better restaurants in Atlanta. The ambiance is nice, however, the music is extremely loud and everyone does not enjoy lounge music. Our waiter did a great job, but seemed embarrassed when we commented on the food and lack of care in the plating presentation, flavor and cook on the meat and seafood we had ordered.
