And the costs were kept reasonable throughout. But many caterers in L.A. can do that. What was unique and special about Montrose was the care, devotion, and spirit of Janet, who worked with us every step of the way, always giving just a bit more than was asked or expected. From the first tasting, till well after the wedding reception, Janet committed herself to helping, improving, and cutting costs for our event on a daily basis. Her energy, passion, and humor became as defining a part of our wedding experience as the flowers and music. We recommend Monrose Catering with no hesitation, and look forward to the time we can work with them again, hopefully soon.

Donna went over and beyond the call of duty; from the food tasting, to coming to the venue during our rehearsal to make sure everything would go smoothly the day of the wedding, to becoming our impromptu wedding coordinator the day of, and surprising our guests with late night munchies. Donna was by my side the entire planning process! She gave me incredible advice about what really is a waste of money and what is worth investing in. Monrose's team was an absolute delight the day of our wedding. They were organized, their customer service to our guests was incredible! They were extremely attentive to us as the Bride and Groom as well as our guests. They went out of their way to make sure everyone was having an amazing time. They were more than a catering team, they helped provide a fun and engaging ambiance to our guests! The food was INCREDIBLE! We had a massive appetizer bar, 3 course meal, and a dessert bar. Donna even helped us get an espresso bar because a Sicilian wedding isn't complete without one! Donna walked me through every aspect of the wedding and helped ease my stress and worries. I can't say enough about how incredible it was hiring Donna and her team. We are hiring them again for our baby shower! If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! RUN don't walk making an appointment with them!

There was not a single issue or hiccup, and that kind of execution is no small feat. The team was incredibly helpful, the food was truly impeccable, and the staff were so kind and attentive throughout the entire event. We received endless compliments from our guests, the catering was genuinely one of the highlights of the night. KB, the catering manager, was on another level! She took such amazing care of us as a couple, constantly checking in, bringing us food, and making sure we had everything we needed at all times. We never once had to look for her, she was always right there, anticipating everything before we even had to ask. She was like a hawk in the best possible way, completely on top of every detail while still being warm and calm. Because of her, we were able to fully relax and enjoy our wedding! A true gem! They went above and beyond, and it showed in every detail. We are so grateful and will be talking about them for a long time!

We went to a school family camp weekend at El Capitan Canyon this month and got a bountiful…read moreHawaiian luau-themed dinner through DJ's California Catering. My friend Kelly M. did the hard work of booking, but I was part of the host crew and thought this dinner was quite successful. We ordered a buffet for 30 adults and 35 children, which ended up feeding 41 adults and 39 children, with leftovers to spare. The total cost, including tip, was a little over $2,900. Not cheap or anything, but definitely worth it for the food and service. DJ's came and set everything up, and there was a guy on site to handle everything for a period of like five hours. I didn't get his name, but he was nice, even helping me open a can I needed desperately to open, without the use of a can opener. The service came with sugarcane plates, forks, knives, and paper napkins, and a luau-themed table covering to put under the buffet. All things we didn't have to think about. We grilled the other night of camp and this was more cost effective, but proportionately more laborious. The food was good and covered a lot of bases, so everyone had something to eat. There were dinner rolls with one thousand pats of butter, many of which I now have in my fridge, and a giant catering tray of three cheese macaroni and cheese. My children were covered with these two offerings, as were, I suspect, many others. We got two meat entrées, which were both very satisfying: traditional Hawaiian kalua pork and grilled teriyaki chicken breast with grilled Maui pineapple. An island garden salad made for a nice side, with mandarin oranges, toasted almonds, crispy wonton strips, and ginger soy vinaigrette. Kind of like Chinese chicken salad without the chicken, and therefore well matched to the chicken teriyaki. There was steamed jasmine rice too, and a tropical fruit salad. Everyone had a great time at the family luau, even if most of the kids were too excited to sit down and eat proper dinner. DJ's California Catering took care of everything (well, except childcare) so we parents could just sit back and enjoy.

When I arrived I asked the server for water, they had a pitcher of water I asked is that filtered or bottled, he responded no it's tap. I looked at my contract and it said water provided. Prior to this I asked if he supplied bottled water he said yes. As the party went on, I started noticing many things he said he would provide were not there No mini muffins Only 2 bialys I paid for a Bloody Mary set up, he had Bloody Mary mix, however there were no lemons, celery, olives for the drinks, these were listed in my contract. My granddaughter had to go to the store and miss a good part of the shower to go purchase all of the missing items I texted him several times about this without any response I told his worker to call him about this because he was not responding He finally responded being very rude and after I explained all the things wrong, he told me he would only take $30 off my bill. He was not apologetic at all, instead it seemed as if he was annoyed. I spent much more than $30 along with the inconvenience of my granddaughter having to go to the store and more importantly missing a portion of her aunts shower I would not recommend him at all He does not care about his customers.

Silver Spoons made everything happen, put the numerous gorgeous bouquets that people brought away in the perfect vases, which Scott or his team somehow found on their own without bothering me. They made everything look delicious despite the unbelievable heat, and then, on top of everything else - everything WAS delicious and delightful. The food was fantastic. And Scott Tessler and his team all talked to our guests in such a nice way. It was fun to have them there. We have used Silver Spoons intermittently over the years - for our daughter's wedding in Malibu in 2015, and now again, to introduce her baby to our friends and family. I'm beginning to think we should do this more often - the results from Scott and Silver Spoons are outstanding. After our event was over, exhausted, we came back to our kitchen, and discovered scads of perfectly wrapped leftovers - Steve and I simultaneously went hunting for that incredible mustard - oh, no, did they leave us some? Yes! You left us a significant amount, nicely wrapped up. And you cleaned up the kitchen beautifully! Even mopped! Everything was left in perfect order. I've been enjoying all the leftovers now for a few days. We have already given Silver Spoons' contact information to one guest at the party, who was very impressed with its work. Many of our guests were already familiar with Silver Spoons from their experiences at University Synagogue (now part of Wilshire Boulevard Temple). The food, the presentation, interaction with guests, following of dietary/allergy restrictions - all perfect. We had magnificent vegetables for the vegans, gluten-free dishes of all kinds that were superb, regular dishes that were wonderful - the food was great. And the service is exceptional. Our baby grandson had a grand debut in the Millers' back yard, and Silver Spoons Catering was a big part of that. Silver Spoons did a wonderful job, and we thank them for it.
