Well, this place is really convenient as it's only a couple of blocks from my apartment- plus, I have a friend who is a comic and he performs here several times a year. However, besides those 2 things- I would STILL make the trip from anywhere else in the city to come here, especially because of the caliber of comics they have here! I have always gotten free tickets here, or my comic friends have put me on the guest list, so I have no idea of a cover charge or ticket prices. I have also used free ticket ads to gain entry. Either way, there is a "2-item" minimum, essentially 2 drinks or food items, and that even includes water. I stick with beer. I had a martini once, and it was expensive and tasted terrible. Popcorn is good, and pretzels, while microwaved, are also good. There is a bar with a couple of booths up front while you wait, and then once you come in, it is a small room with a stage and a bunch of tables. You are seated in the order that you come in; if you want to be up front, get in early. After you are seated, the servers start taking your food and drink orders. Every time I have gone, there were several comics, it has always been a fun night, and if you want, you can fraternize with the comedians before you go in! The prices for food and drinks are as expected for a comedy club. Service is friendly and efficient. Given the low cost of entry, the food/drink minimum is fair. Been coming to comic strip a few times already and being upper east side residents, you actually don't have to pay for the show. But there is a drinks min requirement and it's only cash. Every time we've been here, it was always a surprise. Different stand ups and comics. We went to the 8pm show which ends around 9:30ish in time for the 10pm show, which then starts. There were 4 different performers plus the host. All are different and unique style. We arrived about 10 mins before the show and were able to get nice seats. Also be careful where you seat! Many of the comics usually select those sitting directly to the right or left or in the front of the stage. The drinks menus is a bit disappointing. Mainly beers and mixed drinks. A few fruit juices and they only have 1 type of tea. So for non drinkers, there's not a lot of options. Overall we are regulars of this spot and it's always a fun time! read more

I went for an early show at the invite of a prospective client. This is one of those venues that everyone should go to at least once since it's a NYC institution. It's funny I'd never been until fairly recently. I had no issues getting in and no minimums to meet so I didn't have any food or drink and can't speak on it. I hope they receive this feedback, but it was really a letdown. The drinks are so very weak and so expensive. I get it, it's New York. But I asked for a dirty martini and the server said "I don't think we can make it, let me ask". A dirty martini is as simple as it gets. When she brought it back, it was just straight olive juice. Very little and not very notable liquor at all. I believe that could be the reason they don't like making those drinks... We also got the espresso martinis, literally all espresso. I finally resorted to a wine (after I returned the dirty martini) and got my husband a bottled beer. My wine was fine, his beer was not cold. LOL! Anyway, love this place, definitely recommend going. Horrible service and poorly run, stay away. Much better options in the city. Had a dangerous piece of glass and metal in one our popcorn. Spoke to the manager, who proceeded "to take care of it". His solution was to take the item off the bill. That's it. Not comp'n the bill, let alone a round. Terrible service and clearly was not interested in rectifying a dangerous situation. I proceeded to instruct him how to properly provide service in the hospitality industry and ask them to take a round off the bill. After discussing it with him post show further, he is unfit to be the lead at an establishment. His attitude was passive and uninterested in providing a good experience proactively. We were looking for a comedy show to see in NYC and I stumbled upon this place on Groupon... what a bargain $10 for 2 tickets. I had just paid over $60 for 2 tickets at another club a few weeks ago... granted it was a headliner there but still... huge difference. I was honestly a little skeptical since the tickets were so cheap but we were pleasantly surprised because it was a great show! We arrived around 7:30 for the 8:00 show and it was pretty empty so we got a table for 2 in the second row. By showtime the place filled up. As with most comedy clubs they have a 2 item minimum per person so I tried one of their creamsicle frozen mock tails $10 and a slice of cheesecake $10. Service was very friendly and attentive. This club had 4 featured comedians as opposed to a headliner and they were all entertaining as well as the host was great too... I'd have to say our favorite performer of the night was Kareem Green he was absolutely hilarious! All in all it was a fun night and I would definitely return! read more

So eat and go or go then eat. 2 drink minimum and so your bar tab will be minimum $40 per person after tax and then need to add a tip. Food options are very limited, pretzel, nachos, hot dogs. Acts are normally a mixed bag, 75% hit ratio, so give everyone a chance but don't expect them all to be amazing. read more

I will start by saying I have been a returning customer, and a number of times at that, so there have been good acts and it has been worth coming. However, the last three times I went, the comedians were awful, equating to awkward silence and dead stares. Painful to watch. What's worst is that some were repeated comedians from last times I have been, so not only was it awkwardly painful to watch the first time, but apparently managment didn't get the memo because they were back on stage with a similar act. Why? ! I went this past Saturday evening for the 8pm show. Placed was packed. Tables were cramped together. I'm not a "social distancing COVID crazy", but it was just not comfortable. Worst margarita, but also not sure why I ordered that! This is not the place for that sort of ordering, and I knew that when I ordered. Stick to beer or wine. There are some food items, like pretzels, and popcorn, nachos, etc...You should eat before you go. Lastly, there were mic audio issues throughout the night, so hearing was a challenge in the back. Show is about $20-25 bucks a person, and then it's a 2 drink minimum per person. Typical price for a comedy club in Manhattan. Location is convenient and near several good restaurants. This club definitely goes up on a Tuesday. My friend and I arrived around 7:30 pm after a hearty dinner nearby. The doors weren't quite open as it seemed there was a class that was wrapping up, but we amused ourselves with the photographs on the wall of the numerous famous comedians who had graced the halls of the famed Comic Strip Live. We were one of the first people there (get there early!) so we snagged a seat in the second row. In my experience, the front row is mercilessly cajoled -- in the best way possible of course. The host was great, he made the usual rounds and touched on everyone who was there that night. It was refreshing to see a performance that was to interactive, it definitely made the night so much more fun. The laughs throughout the night from the set attested to that at the very least. We decided on this show because my friend and I are both strong fans of TJ Miller, who performed an hour into the show -- he was phenomenal. From a cursory look on their website, they pull a lot of big names in comedy and tickets are very reasonably priced. We were also given two free tickets to another show since we stayed to watch up and comers do a set (they were just as good as the scheduled performers!). Definitely make reservations before you go and stay for the whole time! One star off because of the 2 drink minimum for outrageously priced drinks. I didn't order anything but towards the end the waiter asked me if I'd like to be charged two sodas (the cheapest drink and was very nice about it) and I obliged. I will say, it's better to come on the weekend so that there is no Wednesday morning guilt about drinking on a Tuesday night before class. read more

Best comedy club in NYC in my opinion. I've been to a number, and this is hands down my favorite and the one where I always return. The venue has improved significantly over past years, with a complete makeover and renovations including new tables, artwork, all new feeling, while still keeping the cool underground- ish vibe. This is Seinfeld's first club, and after he recorded a Netflix special here a couple years ago suggesting the stage should be positioned the way it was back in his Comedy Central day- they made that change too. The employees are always friendly, from Jake taking reservations and greeting customers at the door to the friendly servers. And most importantly, the comedians are always very talented, funny, and generally without being too offensive or crude. The lineup usually has varied styles and includes at least one woman- all very talented. It always amazes me how many people from New York, neighboring boroughs, other states and even various countries visit. Always a mix of some New Yorkers plus people visiting from all over the country and world. Amazing comedy club. Definitely recommend. Everyone who I've brought here loves it. read more

It was one of our last nights in NY and we decided to stop by and we're so happy we did. There was a stacked lineup and a lot more hits than misses. Not every comedian is for everyone and I totally get that, but they had such a variety that we really had a lot to laugh at and so did the entire sold out room. Not transparent about the true cost. I know comedy shows will say if there is a drink/order minimum, but this place did not say anything about it until the show had started.
