The stage

It's been a long while since I've been to a comedy club. A college friend was visiting from Florida and we wanted a good laugh. We definitely got it at Comic Strip Live, billed as New York's oldest comedy club. Yelp offers a buy one get one offer when you check in, making it $20 for 2 tickets. The prices for food and drinks are as expected for a comedy club. Service is friendly and efficient. Given the low cost of entry, the food/drink minimum is fair. The comics were hilarious on a Saturday night. The laughter and good times were welcome. I would come weekly for a dose of laughter inducing entertainment if I could.

Been coming to comic strip a few times already and being upper east side residents, you actually don't have to pay for the show. But there is a drinks min requirement and it's only cash. Every time we've been here, it was always a surprise. Different stand ups and comics. We went to the 8pm show which ends around 9:30ish in time for the 10pm show, which then starts. There were 4 different performers plus the host. All are different and unique style. We arrived about 10 mins before the show and were able to get nice seats. Also be careful where you seat! Many of the comics usually select those sitting directly to the right or left or in the front of the stage. The drinks menus is a bit disappointing. Mainly beers and mixed drinks. A few fruit juices and they only have 1 type of tea. So for non drinkers, there's not a lot of options. Overall we are regulars of this spot and it's always a fun time!

What a fun night!!! Good comedians the night I was there. Comedy clubs are hit or miss and it was a hit and a great evening of laughs. The Comic Strip is in Yorkville on 81st and 2nd. Buy a Groupon for $10, it covers entrance for 2 and call ahead for reservations. 2 drink minimum once you're inside. Food and drinks are a bit pricey but it's worth it for a nice evening out. Inside could be a little cleaner.

I haven't been to a comedy club in years because I don't find most comedians funny until last night that is. All 3 were HILARIOUS including the Host! Maria Schultz Wali Collins Michael Harrison I don't recall the Host's name ( so sorry) but he was hilarious as well‼ It was an unexpected surprise and I LOVED every second The club is really nice and comfortable , all servers were great and the prices were fair which right now seems UNHEARD OF‼ Go to this club if you like laughing‼

Dropped by Friday night for 8 PM show and majority of the seats in front of the stage were filled. There is cover and to drink/item minimum per person. Drinks were fine. I got a Negroni - wasn't amazing but it wasn't horrible. Frozen classic margarita was refreshing sweet and easy to drink. Take note this establishment is cash only so take that into consideration before coming.

Came with my family and we laughed for the entire show! Great line up, great staff. Loved host Len Boyd and closer JJ Ramirez! Will be coming back soon.

Lenny Marcus was drop dead hilarious, Leslie Jones was not that funny and incredibly loud. The venue was nice. Lots of seating. Good service. Drinks were good, food was like over priced movie theater type snacks.

Cash only!!! Make sure you bring cash! There was a 2 item minimum for the show that I was at. The space is pretty large. The night I went, the show started at 8pm and 7-10 comics went on. I'm pretty sure it was supposed to end at 10pm but it wasn't over at 10:45pm when we decided to leave. I'd definitely go back! Nice to have a comedy club like this on the UES!

Half of drinks before show time at the bar!

This was my first time at the Comic Strip. Before the show you can grab drinks half off at the bar, all drinks and food is cash only. The host is great, and you def will leave laughing and enjoying the ambiance of the fun and very Instagram ready environment - from the wall of famous comedians who visited the Stip, to the drinks. I would recommend the Rum Punch and the Pretzel! I am def going back!

Horrible service and poorly run, stay away. Much better options in the city. Had a dangerous piece of glass and metal in one our popcorn. Spoke to the manager, who proceeded "to take care of it". His solution was to take the item off the bill. That's it. Not comp'n the bill, let alone a round. Terrible service and clearly was not interested in rectifying a dangerous situation. I proceeded to instruct him how to properly provide service in the hospitality industry and ask them to take a round off the bill. After discussing it with him post show further, he is unfit to be the lead at an establishment. His attitude was passive and uninterested in providing a good experience proactively. Didn't see what a terrible situation this put everyone in. He then offered free tickets for a future show, but I would not feel safe returning to this place.

Great night in NYC

We were looking for a comedy show to see in NYC and I stumbled upon this place on Groupon... what a bargain $10 for 2 tickets. I had just paid over $60 for 2 tickets at another club a few weeks ago... granted it was a headliner there but still... huge difference. I was honestly a little skeptical since the tickets were so cheap but we were pleasantly surprised because it was a great show! We arrived around 7:30 for the 8:00 show and it was pretty empty so we got a table for 2 in the second row. By showtime the place filled up. As with most comedy clubs they have a 2 item minimum per person so I tried one of their creamsicle frozen mock tails $10 and a slice of cheesecake $10. Service was very friendly and attentive. This club had 4 featured comedians as opposed to a headliner and they were all entertaining as well as the host was great too... I'd have to say our favorite performer of the night was Kareem Green he was absolutely hilarious! All in all it was a fun night and I would definitely return!

Comedians were super rude on and off stage. Honestly super disappointing and frustrating. It's not hard to be a respectful human being

Ask the Community - Comic Strip Live

Can someone confirm that has attended recently if this venue is CASH ONLY?

We bought our tickets on Groupon and used credit card for drinks and food.

Are minors allowed entry here? My 14 years old cousin who is visiting from SC on the weekend end wants to attend a fun gig

I'm not sure but seriously (99.9%) doubt it. It is very much a bar with tables and the language and joke themes can get extremely vulgar. Not just here but at all comedy clubs.

Wheelchair accessible? Asking before I invited someone...

Yes

I enjoyed the speakeasy vibes with the dim lighting and neon pink/blue/purple highlights along with Japanese pop songs in the background. For drinks: --Momoko: My first sip was a little too sweet but after mixing and letting the ice melt a little, I enjoyed the fruity flavors of the peach/sherry. b --Usagi: Sailor Moon inspired drink with a cute moon-like orange peel for decoration! I liked the floral vibes of the drink, almost like butterfly pea, but didn't love the spray they added in the end. The gin wasn't too strong. --Yurie: 56709's interpretation of a margarita and I enjoyed the sansho salt instead of tajin. The spicy, slightly bitter yuzu pepper liqueur helped balance out the alcohol! --Ryuichi: Enjoyed the prominent sencha tea flavors that paired well with the herbacious campari --Ranma: A little too strong for me but an interesting mix of whiskey, black tea, chocolate, and red wine. The glass was super cute! Their snacks are from Gulp (which is the front of the store). The popcorn chicken was very well seasoned, tender, and crispy. The radish cakes were freshly fried and came with a good amount of XO sauce. Staff members were pretty attentive. Managed to get two bar seats for a walk-in on a Friday night! I had a good time at 56709 but I still like 929 more for their drinks and music.
