QED Astoria - Stage - Comedy Clubs Near Me - Astoria, New York

Q.E.D. = quod erat demonstrandum Q.E.D. Astoria is a mellow and welcoming venue that focuses on comedy but also hosts a range of interesting programming for adults and kids. Most events seem to be under $20, and you can purchase tickets on their website. It's set up so there are a couple of tables around a stage; if you're a small party, you could share a table with other folks. I suggest going when the doors open so you can pick out your preferred seat. The staff are super kind and cool. They do sell food and drinks which you can consume during the performances, but there are also a zillion restaurants nearby too. I've seen a comedy show and a movie screening and had a blast at both. Excited to check out more Q.E.D. events this year! read more

This is a very intimate storefront Comedy Club in cool hood Astoria that's 100% worth checking out to see great comics in a cool setting! They have an inventive food & drink menu and prices are super reasonable - you'd be hard pressed to find better value for show and vittles just about anywhere. The Wife (Kambri Crews) & Husband (Comedian Christian Finnegan) Team that owned it for years recently sold it to a young woman Hannah Lieberman who has kept the magic alive. Coming to Q.E.D. for a comedy show feels like going to a friend's house and listening to their much funnier friends tell some jokes. It's low-key and friendly and everyone is a local, so you don't end up with the same old "Who came here from far away today?" warm up routines you get at comedy shows in the city. For such a small space they have a decent offering of cocktails and snacks, though you'll need to go to the bar yourself if you want something. There's no food or drink minimum here which I also appreciate, and tickets are more than reasonable - some shows are even free with the purchase of a drink. Beyond comedy, they also offer interactive storytelling, some classes, and special events. Line ups are a healthy mix of recognizable talent and up and comers eager to test out new material. If you have no plans and want to be entertained, this is the spot to come to. read more

Stumbled upon this place while walking around the neighborhood. A little spontaneous adventure that turned into some good laughs. Such a friendly place with great service. Such a cool spot. Comedy, drinks, snacks, books, comfy seating, chill ambiance. What more could you ask for!? They have all kinds of events. I recommend following them on instagram to see what's coming up. I recently went to the All Pros Comedy Show- the comedians were hilarious. The show ran from 9:30-11pm, perfect amount of time for a comedy show. You can grab drinks and snacks at any time before/during/after the show. Looking forward to going back! read more

Had a great time at this amazing little venue. We saw the amazing Gary Gulman in a 40 seat space for $12 per ticket. It was an intimate experience. We had a nice chat with the owner and she is lovely. This space also hosts a lot of other activities and is available to rent for events. An amazing addition to the community. If you feel the chance to see a show there- go for it! read more

Nice bookstore turns into event space. My friend threw her 50th birthday party here and the space was cozy and festive. Recommend

Looking for something different to do with your nights. Check out the schedule for standup comedy and different shows. A humble and chill place for people to enjoy themselves, interact with others and have a few laughs and/or serious discussions. Came here with a friend tonight and it was a good time. Tickets are slightly cheaper when purchased online. Mera's Tip: have a few laughs read more

Every Friday night this spot has an evening comedy show in the back of their establishment. Got two tickets ($17 each) which doesn't require a drink minimum. While waiting for the show to start, decided on a Margarita ($8). Strong drink that held me over through the evening. Comedy show itself wasn't too bad - a little over an hour long with a gimmick that all the comics were transplants into the city. Intimate setting allowed for better interaction with the audience, who were semi-into it. On a normal day this place also offers books for sale, as well as events for crafting and board games. There are also snacks for sale, though wasn't in the mood to eat here. Welcoming spot to while away a couple hours on the weekend. read more

The venue is very intimate with only a few tables and booths but it was very cozy and fun! They have a bar and food options, and I tried one of their seasonal drinks which was super good! We went during an earlier show and all of the tables were filled, the comedians were fun, and everyone was really friendly and I'll definitely be back. read more

My friend and I bought tickets for one of the stand up comedy shows and it was so much fun. Very cozy atmosphere with great drinks.

QED makes me proud to be from Queens because it has that Queens spirit of something for everyone. You can see the funniest people in NYC there, but there's poetry, and also, political events, speeches, and experimental performance art, and they sell books, wine, and beer, and it's all done in a homey space. The owners are loving, ambitious, and are the first ones to pull their sleeves up. That's Queens. This place is a treasure, and I say that as first an audience member, as someone who waited hours to do the open mic, and now a professional comedian. We've got something very special here, if you're thinking about coming here, come. read more

My buddy and I just started a NYC storytelling event on the 2nd Thursday of the month and QED is the perfect venue. Such a cozy room to see a show. The folks that work there are great and know what they are doing to help make your event a success. They have so many shows that you are sure to find something you like. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Q.E.D. is my all-time favorite comedy club in NYC. I have been going here for years. They have the best shows that feature up-and-coming comics and a really cute storefront with books, crafts, puzzles, and merchandise. I am so glad that they survived the pandemic and are here to stay. I come here at least once a month to see some of their themed nights like the Dirty Show, open mics, and last stop laughs. My friends and I always have an amazing time. Skip the big-name Manhattan spots (and prices) for a night of laughter and head to Q.E.D. instead. read more

The apple cider mimosas taste just like tamarind juice and I love it! I've been here a few times once for a comedy show which was hilarious. Two other times for open mic events. It's a nice cozy spot with a bookstore/bar feel up front and stage area behind the velvet curtain. It's not a huge venue but I love how comfortable I feel when there. Went on a date and my lady was really happy and enjoyed herself! Will be coming back. read more

I'd heard so many things about this place and to be honest had no idea what it even really was until attending a baby shower at the beginning of March. There's a little stage and a decent enough sized room to have a party, or in their case they usually host nights with comedians, book people, open mics, musicians, variety shows, pop culture shtick etc. There's a full bar where you can order soft beverages, coffee, cocoa, tea, wine, beer, and low proofed alcoholic drinks. I'm going to be honest - there's no need for an alcoholic wine spritzer in your life - go with the beer - surprisingly a really decent craft beer bottle selection at a somewhat affordable price for a cafe. I'm not sure what food they have - I think they're kind of like snacks. But for the event I was at, outside food that was catered in from a local restaurant was allowed. read more

Such a great balance of meeting entertainment needs and maintaining safety! The backyard is a perfect spot for a live comedy show. Tables are nicely distanced and it felt safe and fun. Saturday night 9:30 Comedy show review. So it was my first time coming here and I was pleasantly surprised. I bought tickets online after reading an article about this place and I was so happy I took the risk. We showed up exactly at 9:30 PM which was not ideal cause the place was packed! We found seats but still next time I want to go earlier and grab a table. The venue is small, the front looks like a cute cafe with books and board games, but this place also serves beer, wine and seasonal drinks (spiked apple cider). The back room was curtained off for the comedy show - with regular chairs and tables and high tops with high chairs. The comedians were amazing!! There were times where I was like wiping away tears!!! I can't want to go back, this is a great bang for your buck type of night. We ordered the spiked apple cider and they were delicious, perfect to pair with the show! There is a free show right after which seems more like a hit or miss, more like comedians testing out new materials. read more

We stopped by to catch the 11PM Saturday night comedy show while in town visiting family. Our family members have attended the comedy shows in the past and wanted to take us to this cool little venue, especially since the cost of admission is free! We had a great time! The inside is divided into two areas separated by a long dividing curtain. A small stage and seating area were in the back, where the show took place, a bar in the middle, with seating in the front half of the building. The setup was nice that we could hear the early show over the speakers in the front, while waiting for the next set. The overall fun and relaxed atmosphere was very welcoming to all and the employees treated us like regulars. I was very impressed with the Bar at QED because they offered a very nice selection of craft beers, ciders, wines, and other drinks all below standard NYC prices! If you want a snack to go with your show and drink, assorted munchies and baked goods are available for purchase. QED is a nice addition to Astoria! read more

One of the best places to catch live comedy and performance in the city! Love it here as both a patron and performer. The owner, Kambri, is a veteran of the NYC performance scene and her staff are all wonderful. Great beer selection and a close walk to the train. Def come here for a great time! read more

I went here last week for a Drink n draw event. Yes my Friday nights are wild. Turns out this was quite a cool spot. Arrived early, and they were just finishing a comedy event. Which was a packed house. For the drawing event, there were about fifteen of us. It was structured so your first few drawings are 1 minute poses, then 2 min, then later 5 minute, 10 minute and finally 20 and 30 minute poses. So as you progress you get more time to attend to detail. I am very much a beginner at figure drawing, so I won't share my creations quite yet. But it was a fun time. After our event there was another one lined up where the audience heckles at a soft-core movie. Cool stuff. Also for those wanting a beverage, the bar is stocked with a lot of choices, though I just had club soda myself. I will definitely be back. This is cool hipster sh*t like Gowanus Brooklyn! read more

This place recently celebrated its five-year anniversary, and that's just the beginning. QED is a haven for local performers (mainly comedians) in Astoria, but don't call it just a comedy club, it's so much more. It offers open mics, comedy shows, variety shows, drag shows, and even has workshops on the weekends ranging from knitting to acting 101. Some of the events are free and you might have to pay for some, but honestly, you won't be breaking the bank to buy a ticket for a show here. It's super affordable and it has a stellar bar (order a mimosa, seriously). Kambri Crews manages to book both big name performers, and those that are up-and-coming whose name you will know in the future. Most of all, the staff is super-friendly and supportive of good art. Kambri is hands-on and makes sure nothing slips up. Support local artists and QED! read more

Imagine if you will a low priced, friendly coffee shop and performing arts space in the middle of a quiet Astoria neighborhood where the owner is always willing to greet you with a smile and you can see all kinds of high quality shows for 5 or 10 dollars. This is no Manhattan comedy club. There is no two drink minimum. If you want something during a show then you have to go back through the curtain and get it yourself. And even though its geared towards the performance space the coffee shop area is of high quality with a variety of food and drink to order and board games to play with a friend should you have the time or inclination to do so. QED is a treasure to the community and it will only stay that way if fine folks like yourself frequent it from time to time. STAY Gold QED read more

One of the most warm, intimate and fun venues in the city. I've honestly never had a bad time. The variety of shows, classes, and events make sure there is something for everyone. They are super inclusive and its the kind of place you can show up by yourself and not feel weird or self conscious. It's impossible to shop, attend a class or event here and not leave having made a bunch of new friends! QED is also aesthetically beautiful. The layout is open and and airy which lends itself easily for social distancing. The art throughout along with the fun items for sale in the bookshop and delightful refreshment selection will have you think you stepped into a good friend's house. read more

I love this place! Intimate. Fun. Never boring. Fabulous cocktails while viewing amazing.entertainment. A definite go to when in NYC. If I still lived there it would be a regular haunt. QED is truuuuuuuuely my favorite place in New York City. In a city where community space is limited, bars are loud and expensive, and everything is a hassle... QED is a cultural institution that is accessible, affordable, and just plain brilliant. I have seen comedians just starting out and already famous with incredibly diverse lineups. There are also tons of other events- workshops, open mics, political planning, etc. At the end of the day, QED is just a really welcoming environment, with cheep drinks, and a magnetic energy that attracts good people. Kambri is the best. read more

Fun time, relatively small club, so no bad seats, reasonable, cover, and drink prices.

We came here two nights in a row this past weekend we were so happy to have found it! We will be back for more as well. This place was a great spot for after dinner. It's small, low key, and fun. I wouldn't bring kids just FYI. Maybe if they're over 16 and you are very comfortable w them/crude humor lol. Lots of great comedians & good beer selection. The staff is friendly and helpful! Thank you read more

We are so lucky to have a venue like Q.E.D. in Astoria. Last night, I walked over here and saw several SNL cast members/featured performers do stand-up, one after the other: Jay Pharoah, Kate McKinnon (on her birthday!), the very high-energy Leslie Jones, and just-back-from-tooth-surgery Pete Davidson. It was so awesome! I still can't stop smiling. The price? Just 7 bucks for admission. (How does this place make any money?) Q.E.D. doesn't have a show like *that* every night, but it does offer a whole lot. Besides comedy and improv, you'll find poetry, storytelling, game nights, and different classes like "Intro to Guitar" and "Changing Careers Using LinkedIn." In other words, as the venue's own website puts it, what happens within its walls is "as diverse as Queens itself." All of that *and* a bar up front with beer & wine plus an assortment of nonalcoholic drinks, like the delicious Hot Apple Cider I have had twice now. If I had one very small complaint, it would be that the place feels too shiny and new. Maybe this is because I was there for stand-up comedy, and I'm used to grittier Manhattan clubs with some wear and tear. Even Jay Pharoah joked last night about walking in and seeing an assortment of pastries and wondering if he might eat a nice breakfast before his set. Anyway, I want to give owner/creator Kambri Crews a big hug for bringing something like this to the area. Q.E.D. is a new neighborhood treasure. Come out and support the good stuff happening here! read more

QED Astoria - Kambri Crews, owner & Kimberly at 4th of July Patio Party - Comedy Clubs Near Me - Astoria, New York

Have not been to Astoria for a long time and the establishments and eateries are ever evolving. Almost walked by Q.E.D- had no idea what to expect. It was not a museum nor an art gallery. Found out about this event via an ad posted in the paper for their "New Art Exhibit featuring Astoria Artist". Walked in and was greeted by a nice lady. The other woman was busy with monetary stuff and other staff member was the bartender. Place seem to be very child/kid friendly. Bartender was talking and tending to kids. There were two kids playing UNO cards at one of the tables in the front table with their guardian. Also the attendees at this event seem to know each other for there were lots of hugs exchanged and groups of people chatting away. This is a small venue. As you walk in it's like a coffee/bar and pass straight through it is set up like a comedy club. Review is for the Art display that comprised of two artist. Right side seems sunnier and happier and as you go to the left more darker. Second artist material is definitely much darker than the first with skeletons and guns. Really, not up my alley. Their hot apple cider was delicious. Tried to get a second round but the bartender was busy chatting with another person and trying to get their email address. When it came to 7:30 PM they pulled the curtain to separate the coffee/bar area for the Comedy Show which cost $5 and they invited us to stay. Will be back to check out their other programs read more

Often called an after- school space for adults QED features live comedians, artists, poetry writers and authors from Astoria and surrounding area of NYC Last month I came here for a discussion on the Hell Gate Bridge by Jason Santos, a local resident, author, and journalist. QED serves hot drinks, beverages, and alcohol and there is food for purchase. All -in-all, well worth a visit read more

I would give this place a 5 star rating only if their 2 main bartenders were not so unpleasant (the tall blonde and especially the shorter more voluptuous brunette). The second one is very harsh at communicating and her demeanor takes all the fun away from the experience. The shows are great! and the comedians are all funny in their own way. We like to idea of supporting a local establishment. The bartenders just need to lighten up and stop looking like they would much rather being on stage than behind the bar. read more
