Most events seem to be under $20, and you can purchase tickets on their website. It's set up so there are a couple of tables around a stage; if you're a small party, you could share a table with other folks. I suggest going when the doors open so you can pick out your preferred seat. The staff are super kind and cool. They do sell food and drinks which you can consume during the performances, but there are also a zillion restaurants nearby too. I've seen a comedy show and a movie screening and had a blast at both. While waiting for the show to start, decided on a Margarita ($8). Strong drink that held me over through the evening. Comedy show itself wasn't too bad - a little over an hour long with a gimmick that all the comics were transplants into the city. Intimate setting allowed for better interaction with the audience, who were semi-into it. On a normal day this place also offers books for sale, as well as events for crafting and board games. They have the best shows that feature up-and-coming comics and a really cute storefront with books, crafts, puzzles, and merchandise. I am so glad that they survived the pandemic and are here to stay. I come here at least once a month to see some of their themed nights like the Dirty Show, open mics, and last stop laughs. The apple cider mimosas taste just like tamarind juice and I love it! I've been here a few times once for a comedy show which was hilarious. Two other times for open mic events. It's a nice cozy spot with a bookstore/bar feel up front and stage area behind the velvet curtain. It's not a huge venue but I love how comfortable I feel when there. I'd heard so many things about this place and to be honest had no idea what it even really was until attending a baby shower at the beginning of March. There's a little stage and a decent enough sized room to have a party, or in their case they usually host nights with comedians, book people, open mics, musicians, variety shows, pop culture shtick etc. There's a full bar where you can order soft beverages, coffee, cocoa, tea, wine, beer, and low proofed alcoholic drinks. I'm going to be honest - there's no need for an alcoholic wine spritzer in your life - go with the beer - surprisingly a really decent craft beer bottle selection at a somewhat affordable price for a cafe. I'm not sure what food they have - I think they're kind of like snacks. But for the event I was at, outside food that was catered in from a local restaurant was allowed. read more

Saturday night 9:30 Comedy show review. So it was my first time coming here and I was pleasantly surprised. I bought tickets online after reading an article about this place and I was so happy I took the risk. We showed up exactly at 9:30 PM which was not ideal cause the place was packed! We found seats but still next time I want to go earlier and grab a table. The venue is small, the front looks like a cute cafe with books and board games, but this place also serves beer, wine and seasonal drinks (spiked apple cider). The back room was curtained off for the comedy show - with regular chairs and tables and high tops with high chairs. The comedians were amazing!! There were times where I was like wiping away tears!!! I can't want to go back, this is a great bang for your buck type of night. We ordered the spiked apple cider and they were delicious, perfect to pair with the show! There is a free show right after which seems more like a hit or miss, more like comedians testing out new materials. read more

We stopped by to catch the 11PM Saturday night comedy show while in town visiting family. Our family members have attended the comedy shows in the past and wanted to take us to this cool little venue, especially since the cost of admission is free! We had a great time! The inside is divided into two areas separated by a long dividing curtain. A small stage and seating area were in the back, where the show took place, a bar in the middle, with seating in the front half of the building. The setup was nice that we could hear the early show over the speakers in the front, while waiting for the next set. The overall fun and relaxed atmosphere was very welcoming to all and the employees treated us like regulars. I was very impressed with the Bar at QED because they offered a very nice selection of craft beers, ciders, wines, and other drinks all below standard NYC prices! I went here last week for a Drink n draw event. Yes my Friday nights are wild. Turns out this was quite a cool spot. Arrived early, and they were just finishing a comedy event. Which was a packed house. For the drawing event, there were about fifteen of us. It was structured so your first few drawings are 1 minute poses, then 2 min, then later 5 minute, 10 minute and finally 20 and 30 minute poses. So as you progress you get more time to attend to detail. I am very much a beginner at figure drawing, so I won't share my creations quite yet. But it was a fun time. After our event there was another one lined up where the audience heckles at a soft-core movie. Cool stuff. Also for those wanting a beverage, the bar is stocked with a lot of choices, though I just had club soda myself. I will definitely be back. This is cool hipster sh*t like Gowanus Brooklyn! read more

QED is a haven for local performers (mainly comedians) in Astoria, but don't call it just a comedy club, it's so much more. It offers open mics, comedy shows, variety shows, drag shows, and even has workshops on the weekends ranging from knitting to acting 101. Some of the events are free and you might have to pay for some, but honestly, you won't be breaking the bank to buy a ticket for a show here. One of the most warm, intimate and fun venues in the city. I've honestly never had a bad time. The variety of shows, classes, and events make sure there is something for everyone. They are super inclusive and its the kind of place you can show up by yourself and not feel weird or self conscious. It's impossible to shop, attend a class or event here and not leave having made a bunch of new friends! QED is also aesthetically beautiful. QED is truuuuuuuuely my favorite place in New York City. In a city where community space is limited, bars are loud and expensive, and everything is a hassle... QED is a cultural institution that is accessible, affordable, and just plain brilliant. I have seen comedians just starting out and already famous with incredibly diverse lineups. There are also tons of other events- workshops, open mics, political planning, etc. At the end of the day, QED is just a really welcoming environment, with cheep drinks, and a magnetic energy that attracts good people. His lecture was amazing and we learned about the construction of the bridge, history of Astoria and navigating the East River of New York. We are so lucky to have a venue like Q.E.D. in Astoria. Last night, I walked over here and saw several SNL cast members/featured performers do stand-up, one after the other: Jay Pharoah, Kate McKinnon (on her birthday!), the very high-energy Leslie Jones, and just-back-from-tooth-surgery Pete Davidson. It was so awesome! I still can't stop smiling. The price? Just 7 bucks for admission. (How does this place make any money?) Q.E.D. doesn't have a show like *that* every night, but it does offer a whole lot. Besides comedy and improv, you'll find poetry, storytelling, game nights, and different classes like "Intro to Guitar" and "Changing Careers Using LinkedIn." In other words, as the venue's own website puts it, what happens within its walls is "as diverse as Queens itself." All of that *and* a bar up front with beer & wine plus an assortment of nonalcoholic drinks, like the delicious Hot Apple Cider I have had twice now. If I had one very small complaint, it would be that the place feels too shiny and new. Maybe this is because I was there for stand-up comedy, and I'm used to grittier Manhattan clubs with some wear and tear. Even Jay Pharoah joked last night about walking in and seeing an assortment of pastries and wondering if he might eat a nice breakfast before his set. Anyway, I want to give owner/creator Kambri Crews a big hug for bringing something like this to the area. Q.E.D. is a new neighborhood treasure. Have not been to Astoria for a long time and the establishments and eateries are ever evolving. Almost walked by Q.E.D- had no idea what to expect. It was not a museum nor an art gallery. Found out about this event via an ad posted in the paper for their "New Art Exhibit featuring Astoria Artist". Walked in and was greeted by a nice lady. The other woman was busy with monetary stuff and other staff member was the bartender. Place seem to be very child/kid friendly. Bartender was talking and tending to kids. There were two kids playing UNO cards at one of the tables in the front table with their guardian. Also the attendees at this event seem to know each other for there were lots of hugs exchanged and groups of people chatting away. This is a small venue. As you walk in it's like a coffee/bar and pass straight through it is set up like a comedy club. Review is for the Art display that comprised of two artist. Right side seems sunnier and happier and as you go to the left more darker. Second artist material is definitely much darker than the first with skeletons and guns. Really, not up my alley. Their hot apple cider was delicious. Tried to get a second round but the bartender was busy chatting with another person and trying to get their email address. When it came to 7:30 PM they pulled the curtain to separate the coffee/bar area for the Comedy Show which cost $5 and they invited us to stay. I would give this place a 5 star rating only if their 2 main bartenders were not so unpleasant (the tall blonde and especially the shorter more voluptuous brunette). The second one is very harsh at communicating and her demeanor takes all the fun away from the experience. The shows are great! and the comedians are all funny in their own way. We like to idea of supporting a local establishment. The bartenders just need to lighten up and stop looking like they would much rather being on stage than behind the bar. read more
