Coming to Q.E.D. for a comedy show feels like going to a friend's house and listening to their much funnier friends tell some jokes. It's low-key and friendly and everyone is a local, so you don't end up with the same old "Who came here from far away today?" warm up routines you get at comedy shows in the city. For such a small space they have a decent offering of cocktails and snacks, though you'll need to go to the bar yourself if you want something. There's no food or drink minimum here which I also appreciate, and tickets are more than reasonable - some shows are even free with the purchase of a drink. Beyond comedy, they also offer interactive storytelling, some classes, and special events. Line ups are a healthy mix of recognizable talent and up and comers eager to test out new material. If you have no plans and want to be entertained, this is the spot to come to.

A great room - like being at a friend's house. Q.E.D. is a very small comfortable room with table seating. The front room has an eclectic assortment of books and games plus a bar with craft drinks and snacks. There is street parking.

Amazing women-owned spot! Kambri is awesome. I've seen Gary Gulman here a couple times and love how intimate the space is. Great selection of beer, wine, cocktails, n/a beverages, and snacks at the bar. Friendly bartenders.

Such a cool spot. Comedy, drinks, snacks, books, comfy seating, chill ambiance. What more could you ask for!? They have all kinds of events. I recommend following them on instagram to see what's coming up. I recently went to the All Pros Comedy Show- the comedians were hilarious. The show ran from 9:30-11pm, perfect amount of time for a comedy show. You can grab drinks and snacks at any time before/during/after the show. Looking forward to going back!

Time for me to rant and rave about the best spot to hangout and escape from your apartment in Astoria for a second time!!... an excellent place to write, meet new people socialize & their calendar is always full with new events Love love love. I can't speak highly enough about how much I enjoy QED and attending their classes- you can come any day at anytime and spend HOURS here with all of their incredible classes

Looking for something different to do with your nights. Check out the schedule for standup comedy and different shows. A humble and chill place for people to enjoy themselves, interact with others and have a few laughs and/or serious discussions. Came here with a friend tonight and it was a good time. Tickets are slightly cheaper when purchased online. Mera's Tip: have a few laughs

Every Friday night this spot has an evening comedy show in the back of their establishment. Got two tickets ($17 each) which doesn't require a drink minimum. While waiting for the show to start, decided on a Margarita ($8). Strong drink that held me over through the evening. Comedy show itself wasn't too bad - a little over an hour long with a gimmick that all the comics were transplants into the city. Intimate setting allowed for better interaction with the audience, who were semi-into it. On a normal day this place also offers books for sale, as well as events for crafting and board games. There are also snacks for sale, though wasn't in the mood to eat here. Welcoming spot to while away a couple hours on the weekend.

From the BQE to QED storytelling night.

My buddy and I just started a NYC storytelling event on the 2nd Thursday of the month and QED is the perfect venue. Such a cozy room to see a show. The folks that work there are great and know what they are doing to help make your event a success. They have so many shows that you are sure to find something you like. Definitely worth a visit!

Nice bookstore turns into event space. My friend threw her 50th birthday party here and the space was cozy and festive. Recommend

Fun time, relatively small club, so no bad seats, reasonable, cover, and drink prices.

Any casual places nearby to get a bite to eat before the show?

QED has chicken fingers, hummus, mozzarella sticks, pastries, chips, nuts and lots of other snacks & drinks. Otherwise Astoria is chock full of fancy and not-so-fancy restaurants.

By what I researched , it was created to give opportunities for artists ,which is great and also for the ones who are already in the industry to show and expanding their talent . From time to time this place comes with this wonderful Shortplay Festival . It is so exciting and so promising for the actors, directors and writers .However the competition ,turns in disappointment to see excellent work of the participants overlooked. The voting system is led from family members and friends. This current method is unfair to talented actors, writers ,and directors who give their best, but unfortunately the results depend on personal connections instead of artistic merit. A system led by qualified judges would make the festival stronger, fairer, and more true to its mission of supporting learning and creativity. Please reconsider it , to be an excellent place with fair judgments for all artists . If it continues like this ,I don't see the point of artist go through it.Thank you.

They are the true definition of a community theatre and one that keeps the arts scene alive in the borough. Does it seem like they have a better setup than previously? I seem to think so. While the venue is still incredibly small, it is a little less stuffy their than previous digs and a lot more modern. The waiting area feels like someone's living room, complete with seasonal decor and chairs / stools that feel like they were donated. Now known as the The Secret Academy, they've got a whole arsenal of classes aimed toward developing the next generation of actors. They aim to teach young folks everything from dance to drama to singing and have many current students involved in big time productions. They teach kids as young as 6 and work with high schoolers to prepare them for their next big thing. They host a number of shows throughout the year and I hope that during one of my next trips back that I can stop by and see their latest play. Here's hoping they'll be able to remain here for a very long time.

After a short search, I came across Aurora Reyes' classes at Flamenco Latino and it was exactly what I was looking for. Flamenco is unlike other dance types in that it has a long learning curve. But once you get a knack for it, you could dance any sort of dance style. After just one hour of classes, my wellbeing and mood is greatly improved, from 0 to 10 on some days. I never imagined that I would be dancing to the accompaniment of 8 live guitars. Aurora is an amazing dancer and singer - musical instrument in form of woman!
