    Pooh is excited!

Great staff, clean hotel, wonderful city. Comfortable bed. My only complaint was door. It was difficult to open with loud creak indicating something out of alignment. Breakfast fair. Overall I will stay here again,

Lol Sooooo to start with this is one of our best overall experiences at a Hotel... The bad first the working the lobby was solo which I will explain in a second why that was bad followed with a pic The room itself was good, spacious air conditioning was awesome and cool! The bad there was no coffee maker in the room, no wash clothes and only two large towels and a lamp did not work which no biggie. The funny part and is someone from the hotel reads this please be advised that the washer next to room 216 is connected to the toilet and causes the soap bubbles to come out of the toilet on the bathroom floor. I went into the room to shower and to my surprise white soap was flowing from the toilet onto the floor, which is the hard part of one girl working alone, we couldn't call her the phone was busy so I went downstairs she apologized and I got several medium towels from her to clean up the soap myself. She did offer to move us to another room, but this was 10pm and we had to the up early so not a big deal. Round one was cleaned up and I left towels on the floor just incase. We went to bed around 11:10pm and heard someone start up the washer (which is not supposed to be used after 10pm) and all the sudden we heard the toilet water drain, and a soapy sound lol yep! Two more rounds of soap on their floor! Our trip to CA was full of mishaps and was stressful, so this we could do nothing more than laugh at... We hope to come and spend a couple three days as this seems like a good place to get some much needed quiet time.

Yes. Fairly new and really comfortable. The front desk clerk was great (Stormy.) She was EXTREMELY helpful, nice, & professional! Hallways & rooms were nice & clean. Breakfast was awesome...eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, & all the extras. I would highly recommend & will stay here again!

This comfort suites is about four years old, pretty modern but basically the same floor design as all comfort suites. Nice pool area, they need to get some chlorine in the pool. Our suite was very nice, however their cable TV was not working correctly, and they did apologize. Although this was a new hotel, it wasn't as nice as the older comfort suites. Very friendly staff and ample parking.

    Tissue shoved in peep hole

Just checked into a room that doesn't look like it has been cleaned in days. Vomit stain on the floor, tissue stuck to the wall, toilet and bathroom was not clean. Trash on the floor. Absolutely disgusting, and when I brought this to the attention to the front desk I was told "well we our night shift, there is nothing we can do." I'm not one to right reviews, in fact this is my first Yelp review. But I am extremely disappointed that a hotel would conduct itself like this during a pandemic. I hope changes are made.

Large stain (blood??) on the shower curtain.

We got in around 9pm during a road trip. The hotel looks somewhat new, the room is spacious but the carpet seemed a bit dirty - has lots of stains and some dirt on it. Well, due to our son having certain special needs, we always cover the floor with flat sheets so that was not as big of an issue as it would be for some people. We do like the spacious room we got (2 queen none-smoking). The room was mostly clean - a couple of spots were slightly dusty, but if like the other reviewer said, Amarillo is a windy city, I understand why the room could easily became dusty. Our room is on the second floor and it was pretty quiet - thankfully. I was disappointed, though, when I saw the old towels in the bathroom and there was 1 wash cloth missing. You would think for a pretty much brand-new hotel in this grade level, the towels would be of much better quality. And the tissue box has only 1 single tissue left, so after I've used that one, the tissue box was empty. There's a big blood-looking stain on the shower curtain and some dark red spots on the top reservoir lid of the toilet (which I wiped off with a tissue). Since we are not really going to touch it again, I let it go. For the price range (we booked thru hotels.com and paid under $86 + tax) and for the level of updates for a hotel, it was a pretty good pick for the area. We look forward to enjoy the pool in the morning. Not expecting much for the free breakfast but we're glad it is offered. Hopefully I wouldn't need to update my review after we leave. ;)

Computer system was down when we got there, so they made a photocopy of my mom's credit card and license, which made me nervous, but they gave us the copy and receipt the next day when we checked out. Walls are pretty thin so if you have noisy neighbors, you'll hear them. Thankfully, we didn't have that issue. But, the fire alarm went off twice between 530am and 630am. Was just a false alarm. Breakfast was unappealing. Just had cereal and milk. Couldn't look at the eggs for more than 2 seconds. Staff was nice and friendly. Elevator is slow. Got a two bed suite for $119.00 + tax, which was an upgrade. Nice beds, good AC, slow internet connection at night but faster in the morning.

We have stayed here before and it's always been clean and quiet. This visit has not been so pleasant starting with the front desk no warm greeting and when you ask for assistance the evening clerk acts like it's an inconvenience. Maintenence appears like it's not an on going up keep, the upholstery on the sofa and chair need cleaning and the washer machine is broken, the shower has soap scum on the shower wall. Although it may not be the hotel's responsibly the noise from both sides and up stairs is annoying. We have always stayed at Comfort Suites because it was well maintained unfortunately this will not be a place we return too.

This photo does not do the big, light, spacious room justice.

Aside from the hospitality, I am guessing the kickback hour is a big draw as well. They are also pet friendly. We were on a roadtrip to Colorado and decided to spend the night on our way back. There were 2 tour buses when we arrived and it looked like we just missed the crowd at check-in. The front desk folks were an epitome of Texas hospitality. Friendly, laid back and the ladies just made us feel so welcome. We were given 3 drink coupons each for kickback hour. Our 2 queen room on the 2nd floor didn't have much of a view but it was homey and quiet. Kickback hour was busy but staff were surprisingly very accommodating. Their margaritas will give you a buzz. They have hot food items, soup and a salad for the complimentary light dinner. For those that have not stayed at a Drury Inn before, the kickback hour is similar to Embassy Suites' evening reception, but WAY better. We slept surprisingly well, considering the hotel's proximity to the highway. We had no problems with the ac either. Breakfast was better than your typical hotel breakfast with a bunch of options. We did not get to use the other facilities because we had to head out early. This was our first time staying at a Drury property. I'm normally a Hilton and Marriott girl but I'll definitely choose Drury if there is one available in my future destinations. We also appreciate the military discount they offer. I am the single mom who brought her kids here to share the Mesquite room on October 9-10, 2022. This bed and breakfast is located in a somewhat remote area of Amarillo, Texas. The surrounding landscape is a bit reminiscent of Palo Duro Canyon - which is just a short drive away - but not in an extreme way that the Lone Star state park yields. The view from the hot tub at 7:30PM was amazing with a glorious display of sunset colors. Robes were provided behind the bathroom door. Near the pond on the old red, white, and blue amusement park ride chair, we found a walking stick. A friendly orange Tabby cat kept returning to our front door. My 8 and 9-year-old couldn't resist petting the stray feline. We weren't crazy about the continental breakfast which comprised of a cherry turnover, Yoplait yogurt, and Tropicana apple juice so we'll pass on that if we don't stay on a morning when they offer a hot meal. Just a couple of other cons: I leave to pick up pizza in town and someone takes my spot in front of our door. Lol. Also, my stupid Sprint/T-mobile coverage was terrible here. The other accomodations definitely overrode the somewhat lacking Monday morning breakfast: quiet neighborhood, calm weather, microwave, mini fridge, iron & board, lots of programs on the TV, free Wi-Fi, walk-in shower, and private gated area with code access.

We stayed in the Pinion. The positives. It's remote and really close to Palo Duro Canyon (18 minutes) That was nice. It's about 12 minutes from the Big Texan. It's in a pretty setting. The bed was comfy. We stay at B&B's because there is a level of expectation where hospitality takes over and you feel like you were being treated like royalty. This is not that place. It almost felt like our stay was a little bit of an inconvenience. The room is small and very dated, but covered in wood plank and not very clean. A lot of dust. This particular room did not have a shower and only a bath tub with the hot water trickles out. I'm not joking. It took about 30 minutes to fill the bathtub. Tip 1. Make sure to ask if the room you are booking has a shower if you're needing a shower for medical reasons or handicap accessibility. According to one of the reviews, and in their pictures, there appeared to be a nice shower in the mesquite, but we weren't given the chance to stay there. Once you get in the room, you're given two towels for the bath and two towels for the hot tub. I uncovered the hot tub to see that the water was very cloudy and it wasn't a result of the bubbles. So I put the cover right back on. They don't give you anything with respect to toiletries when it comes to soap or shampoo or lotions or bath bomb. So it really does feel like you're not being pampered. Bed And Breakfast should always feel like you're being pampered. And inside the room, you're not giving any type of bottled water, filtered water and so you rely on the bathroom sink in the bathroom tub. Which I thought was really bad. The outside of the room was covered in Pineneedles on the walkway, and so we tracked some into a room. When we were trying to get into the door, some even to get into the wheels of our suitcase. It was kind of annoying. The area is just really dated and not well kept. However, that does give it a very rustic feel and so if you're into that kind of thing that it may suit your fancy. It does have a really cute cat that keeps you company in the random deer that you will see from time to time. Overall, I'm sure it meets the needs of a specific clientele that would enjoy that atmosphere but when I go to a bed-and-breakfast, I consider myself to be high maintenance. So they certainly could meet the need a specific individuals however, it's not a place that I would really return to .

The bed is comfortable, the linens and towels of the quality expected in a nice hotel. Physically, the place is nice. What is lacking is a customer experience commensurate with their hype. They are posers. Gone are the days, when the clerk comes from behind the counter to hand you your room key and walk you to the elevator. That used to be a Marriott trademark, but no trace of it at the Barfield. I decided to eat at the bar. Same menu as the hotel's Toscana Italian Steakhouse. Even though there were three women behind the bar, and only six other patrons, it took a while to be recognized, since the staff were all busily chit-chatting with each other. Finally, one of the women brought me a glass of bar mix. I looked at it, trying to figure out what it was. It was the consistency of large-grain salt--I would need a spoon to eat it. I asked another of the staff on her way by what it was, and, after examining it, she said, "It looks like you got the bottom of the bag." What level of mindlessness does it take to pour a glass of bar-mix crumbs, hand it to a guest, and think that's world-class? Dinner was the next disappointment. I was interested in the "Creole Tortellini," but asked if they could prepare it with any type of red sauce, instead of the cream sauce. "No problem," I was told. As I was finishing my salad, the woman returned to say they couldn't accommodate the request because "everything was already mixed together." Prepared in-kitchen earlier in the day, or in a Sysco bag, I'll never know. Next try was Steak Frites, steak done medium. It came out medium-well with cold fries. The highlight was the glass of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo I ordered. The "fond farewell" I received early next morning was from the "valet." When he brought the car around, he exited the car, closed the door, and handed me the key as he walked by me while I stood at the rear of my car with my bag. He rushed back inside, leaving me standing there with his tip in my hand. Based on my experience, the Barfield wants to be a high-end hotel, but not enough to actually work at it. Not worth the premium.
