Nice 2019 hotel with an indoor pool, fitness center, bar, and two computers in the lobby area. The elevators are large and have grab bars on either side for the elderly. I'm with my older godparents so I could appreciate these features. The parking lot was also spacious which is good because we are driving an RV. The hotel staff were really friendly and nice at check in and also when I called to ask about a sewing kit and went down to get it. Thank you!

Change is good. Which is why we decided to give Hyatt a chance this time. We normally stay at the Drury across the street when we're passing through; however, we were curious! This hotel is newer and smells fresh when you walk in, not old like the other surrounding hotels. The entrance is inviting and the receptionist is friendly. Our room was clean and so spacious! I checked the beds for bugs or anything of the sort and didn't find anything except a stray hair in the mattress. There was also a hair on the floor in the bathroom. Perhaps a hair net/ponytail should be worn when the staff is refreshing the room. The bathroom shower was hot and so refreshing, perfect for winding down for the night. The vent above the toilet was dirty though, probably gets overlooked in the day-to-day cleanings. Parking is plenty. The pool is open 6-10pm and the gym is 24 hours. Both looked clean from a glance or two, I didn't get the time to use either amenity though. Breakfast was hot, delicious and had plenty of choices. Eggs, sausage, oatmeal, muffins, potatoes, salsa, jams, bagels, a waffle maker, cereal, fruit, etc. There was coffee makers and tea bags galore! I was concerned if I would be able to eat anything since I can't have dairy/soy, but I found something! This hotel costed about $40 more than the Comfort Inn and about $10 less than Drury. However, it really depends on what date you book as to pricing. If you are looking for a new, updated hotel in this area Hyatt is a good contender.

Was very thankful room was clean and spacious all I wanted was to sleep. We brought our baggage up after checking in and I went strait to shower to soak. There was no soaking for me tonight water pressure was horrible. So just went to bed and thankfully bed was comfortable. The tv was great size even though we didn't use it. Beside the water pressure room was nice. We count on decent breakfast so we only buy one meal out when traveling so long. This breakfast was our least favorite. The waffle machine was broken, the oatmeal wasn't good I barely ate any. The guys had biscuits and gravy with sausage that also wasn't good. So I think we will be having a decent meal somewhere else. If passing through again I think we would pick a different hotel.

This hotel really has everything down to perfection. From checkin, the bar area open later, the spotless room, the great free breakfast. Wish all hotel stays went this effortlessly.

    Nice sitting area.

Great place to stay! We need an overnight place to stay on our way back home from Colorado. Uber clean. Looks fairly new. Hospitable staff. Free breakfast that was grab and go packaged due to COVID. Contents included a warm breakfast sandwich, one piece of fruit and juice. They also have a Starbucks (hotel version) and you could buy other breakfast foods (cereal) and snacks (chips and candies). Our expectations were kind of low given the price point but we were truly blown away. The amenities and style of the room were great. There is also a bar in the lobby that served beer and wine only. If you need a great place to stay for the price, the Hyatt Place Amarillo is highly recommended!

This is the perfect place to stay on a road trip. It is right off the freeway, but you can't hear the freeway! Our room was modern, clean, and smelled good. The bed was good and pillows soft. They have a free breakfast that had waffles, eggs, sausage, potatoes, bagels and bread, cereal, and juices. Everything was great and we'll stay again when passing through Amarillo.

Front view. The hotel is behind/west of tru hotel which is the gray and beige building near the access road.

Easy access to Route 66 and that was the main reason my family and I stayed at this hotel on our way to and from Tulsa, Oklahoma, we made this hotel our pit stop. The hotel was relatively new, check-in at the front desk was a breeze even when it was close to midnight. The breakfast buffet is truly something to write home about. Fresh hot biscuit, bacon, and breakfast sausages. DIY waffle station with all the fixings! I dare say it's far better than IHOP. There's an on-site full bar that also has Starbucks items. We stayed in a room with two queen beds and it was spacious, the bathroom was spotless. Another night, we got a room with two queen beds plus a sofa bed, it was only three of us so we didn't really need the additional sleeping area but I can see this being useful for a family with two or three kids. During a morning elevator ride, we briefly chatted up with some of the house staff, they are so welcoming to a flip flop wearing family, a sure sign that we are either from California or Florida. There's also a fairly large indoor pool and a gym which I didn't get to check out since we were literally staying overnight. As a quick stop, the hotel checked all the boxes for me, the price, location, free parking and free hot breakfast.

Traveled from CA and ended up in Amarillo, It was my very first time in Texas along with my family and we drove for 15 hours and arrived very very tired early morning and check in wasn't until 3 pm, however we were accommodated and checked in early for some very much needed rest. It is very clean, very aesthetic and comfortable here. It seems the rooms are sound proofed since we did not hear a thing from the freeway nearby. Pool was heated which was very nice. Any and every question asked through text was answered very promptly and professionally. Breakfast was free and very very delicious, better than Dennys if I'm being honest. We traveled with our kids and they were very happy to see they had Disney channel so they did not feel far from home at all. There was a lot of kindness from all staff here, even if we kept asking for either extra pillows or other things they helped us and never made us feel unwelcome. Being a mother I have to make sure wherever I stay that my kids are safe and that the place is clean enough for my kids to be in and sleep in. I can definitely say this place is kid friendly and they loved it too. They can't wait to go back! Thank you so much to all staff! I wish I would've gotten their names, however I shall next time I come by!

Aside from the hospitality, I am guessing the kickback hour is a big draw as well. They are also pet friendly. We were on a roadtrip to Colorado and decided to spend the night on our way back. There were 2 tour buses when we arrived and it looked like we just missed the crowd at check-in. The front desk folks were an epitome of Texas hospitality. Friendly, laid back and the ladies just made us feel so welcome. We were given 3 drink coupons each for kickback hour. Our 2 queen room on the 2nd floor didn't have much of a view but it was homey and quiet. Kickback hour was busy but staff were surprisingly very accommodating. Their margaritas will give you a buzz. They have hot food items, soup and a salad for the complimentary light dinner. For those that have not stayed at a Drury Inn before, the kickback hour is similar to Embassy Suites' evening reception, but WAY better. We slept surprisingly well, considering the hotel's proximity to the highway. We had no problems with the ac either. Breakfast was better than your typical hotel breakfast with a bunch of options. We did not get to use the other facilities because we had to head out early. This was our first time staying at a Drury property. I'm normally a Hilton and Marriott girl but I'll definitely choose Drury if there is one available in my future destinations. We also appreciate the military discount they offer. Thanks for a memorable stay!

I am the single mom who brought her kids here to share the Mesquite room on October 9-10, 2022. This bed and breakfast is located in a somewhat remote area of Amarillo, Texas. The surrounding landscape is a bit reminiscent of Palo Duro Canyon - which is just a short drive away - but not in an extreme way that the Lone Star state park yields. The view from the hot tub at 7:30PM was amazing with a glorious display of sunset colors. Robes were provided behind the bathroom door. Near the pond on the old red, white, and blue amusement park ride chair, we found a walking stick. A friendly orange Tabby cat kept returning to our front door. My 8 and 9-year-old couldn't resist petting the stray feline. We weren't crazy about the continental breakfast which comprised of a cherry turnover, Yoplait yogurt, and Tropicana apple juice so we'll pass on that if we don't stay on a morning when they offer a hot meal. Just a couple of other cons: I leave to pick up pizza in town and someone takes my spot in front of our door. Lol. Also, my stupid Sprint/T-mobile coverage was terrible here. The other accomodations definitely overrode the somewhat lacking Monday morning breakfast: quiet neighborhood, calm weather, microwave, mini fridge, iron & board, lots of programs on the TV, free Wi-Fi, walk-in shower, and private gated area with code access.

We stayed in the Pinion. The positives. It's remote and really close to Palo Duro Canyon (18 minutes) That was nice. It's about 12 minutes from the Big Texan. It's in a pretty setting. The bed was comfy. We stay at B&B's because there is a level of expectation where hospitality takes over and you feel like you were being treated like royalty. This is not that place. It almost felt like our stay was a little bit of an inconvenience. The room is small and very dated, but covered in wood plank and not very clean. A lot of dust. This particular room did not have a shower and only a bath tub with the hot water trickles out. I'm not joking. It took about 30 minutes to fill the bathtub. Tip 1. Make sure to ask if the room you are booking has a shower if you're needing a shower for medical reasons or handicap accessibility. According to one of the reviews, and in their pictures, there appeared to be a nice shower in the mesquite, but we weren't given the chance to stay there. Once you get in the room, you're given two towels for the bath and two towels for the hot tub. I uncovered the hot tub to see that the water was very cloudy and it wasn't a result of the bubbles. So I put the cover right back on. They don't give you anything with respect to toiletries when it comes to soap or shampoo or lotions or bath bomb. So it really does feel like you're not being pampered. Bed And Breakfast should always feel like you're being pampered. And inside the room, you're not giving any type of bottled water, filtered water and so you rely on the bathroom sink in the bathroom tub. Which I thought was really bad. The outside of the room was covered in Pineneedles on the walkway, and so we tracked some into a room. When we were trying to get into the door, some even to get into the wheels of our suitcase. It was kind of annoying. The area is just really dated and not well kept. However, that does give it a very rustic feel and so if you're into that kind of thing that it may suit your fancy. It does have a really cute cat that keeps you company in the random deer that you will see from time to time. Overall, I'm sure it meets the needs of a specific clientele that would enjoy that atmosphere but when I go to a bed-and-breakfast, I consider myself to be high maintenance. So they certainly could meet the need a specific individuals however, it's not a place that I would really return to .

The bed is comfortable, the linens and towels of the quality expected in a nice hotel. Physically, the place is nice. What is lacking is a customer experience commensurate with their hype. They are posers. Gone are the days, when the clerk comes from behind the counter to hand you your room key and walk you to the elevator. That used to be a Marriott trademark, but no trace of it at the Barfield. I decided to eat at the bar. Same menu as the hotel's Toscana Italian Steakhouse. Even though there were three women behind the bar, and only six other patrons, it took a while to be recognized, since the staff were all busily chit-chatting with each other. Finally, one of the women brought me a glass of bar mix. I looked at it, trying to figure out what it was. It was the consistency of large-grain salt--I would need a spoon to eat it. I asked another of the staff on her way by what it was, and, after examining it, she said, "It looks like you got the bottom of the bag." What level of mindlessness does it take to pour a glass of bar-mix crumbs, hand it to a guest, and think that's world-class? Dinner was the next disappointment. I was interested in the "Creole Tortellini," but asked if they could prepare it with any type of red sauce, instead of the cream sauce. "No problem," I was told. As I was finishing my salad, the woman returned to say they couldn't accommodate the request because "everything was already mixed together." Prepared in-kitchen earlier in the day, or in a Sysco bag, I'll never know. Next try was Steak Frites, steak done medium. It came out medium-well with cold fries. The highlight was the glass of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo I ordered. The "fond farewell" I received early next morning was from the "valet." When he brought the car around, he exited the car, closed the door, and handed me the key as he walked by me while I stood at the rear of my car with my bag. He rushed back inside, leaving me standing there with his tip in my hand. Based on my experience, the Barfield wants to be a high-end hotel, but not enough to actually work at it. Not worth the premium.
