Check in was a breeze as always! The associate was very friendly and made sure I knew what time breakfast and wine down starts/ends. There is a $50 incidental fee which is released upon checkout. Also, if you're looking for a water bottle refill there is one across from the pool! The soda machine in the lobby has water but it's only big enough for those provided cups. Plenty of parking when we arrive at 3:30! Our room was so clean and fresh. We were delighted to stay here. Drury is still our fave Amarillo hotel!

We had a wonderful stay at the Drury inn. From the moment we checked in with the wonderful lady up front until we left after breakfast in the morning the staff was extremely kind. The hotel is upscale in a retro kind of way. Very nice and we really liked the whole vibe partly due to the FABULOUS lady at the front DESK! She advised us that we had just missed happy hourqfree hors d'oeuvres and drinks on the house. Three drinks on the house actually. And the hors d'oeuvres were more like dinner: pork sliders, mac and cheese, barbecued beans and more. We actually knew that they had a happy hour but we wanted to eat Mexican food because we were in Amarillo and they have some really good Mexican food. Please see review on El Charro. We were beat and headed straight to our beds and went to sleep. The rooms were very nice and clean and the bed was very soft. All bath stuff is on the wall in the shower. The breakfast was in a very nice room with silver built-in servers and it looked just very very nice. And the breakfast had just everything you could imagine. See my pictures. The staff just continued to be very nice and very courteous and all seemed happy to be working there. The Drury inn is definitely the place we'll stay in Amarillo from now on.

    Room #528 - no major complaints (10/8/2022)

Drury Inn & Suites made my itinerary for a fun 3-day weekend trip to Amarillo with my daughters (10/8/2022). PROS + the friendly, patient staff! + clean indoor swimming pool & hot tub while it rained both days we were here. Lol. + complimentary snacks, beverages (including 3 adult beverages), light dinner & breakfast + mostly clean room & bathroom + Free WI-FI + quiet room w/a terrace option + several easily-accessible outlets to charge our devices + brightly-lit parking lot with spaces all around the hotel + quick access to Interstate 40 + many restaurants as well as a mall nearby + Pets are welcome: $40 daily fee, per room. Service animals are free of charge. + "extend your stay" rates were emailed to me at less than half the price I paid for one night + entrance to hotel was required before getting inside our room + no riffraff in the parking lot, lobby or elsewhere :) CONS - only one working elevator - non-flavorful food served at dinner & breakfast - not-so-comfortable bed I paid $160.99 for a "2 Queen Beds Deluxe with Terrace" for one night. This was our first stay at this establishment. I will definitely look into other Drurys across the U.S. as this was a really good choice for families.

I am the single mom who brought her kids here to share the Mesquite room on October 9-10, 2022. This bed and breakfast is located in a somewhat remote area of Amarillo, Texas. The surrounding landscape is a bit reminiscent of Palo Duro Canyon - which is just a short drive away - but not in an extreme way that the Lone Star state park yields. The view from the hot tub at 7:30PM was amazing with a glorious display of sunset colors. Robes were provided behind the bathroom door. Near the pond on the old red, white, and blue amusement park ride chair, we found a walking stick. A friendly orange Tabby cat kept returning to our front door. My 8 and 9-year-old couldn't resist petting the stray feline. We weren't crazy about the continental breakfast which comprised of a cherry turnover, Yoplait yogurt, and Tropicana apple juice so we'll pass on that if we don't stay on a morning when they offer a hot meal. Just a couple of other cons: I leave to pick up pizza in town and someone takes my spot in front of our door. Lol. Also, my stupid Sprint/T-mobile coverage was terrible here. The other accomodations definitely overrode the somewhat lacking Monday morning breakfast: quiet neighborhood, calm weather, microwave, mini fridge, iron & board, lots of programs on the TV, free Wi-Fi, walk-in shower, and private gated area with code access.

We stayed in the Pinion. The positives. It's remote and really close to Palo Duro Canyon (18 minutes) That was nice. It's about 12 minutes from the Big Texan. It's in a pretty setting. The bed was comfy. We stay at B&B's because there is a level of expectation where hospitality takes over and you feel like you were being treated like royalty. This is not that place. It almost felt like our stay was a little bit of an inconvenience. The room is small and very dated, but covered in wood plank and not very clean. A lot of dust. This particular room did not have a shower and only a bath tub with the hot water trickles out. I'm not joking. It took about 30 minutes to fill the bathtub. Tip 1. Make sure to ask if the room you are booking has a shower if you're needing a shower for medical reasons or handicap accessibility. According to one of the reviews, and in their pictures, there appeared to be a nice shower in the mesquite, but we weren't given the chance to stay there. Once you get in the room, you're given two towels for the bath and two towels for the hot tub. I uncovered the hot tub to see that the water was very cloudy and it wasn't a result of the bubbles. So I put the cover right back on. They don't give you anything with respect to toiletries when it comes to soap or shampoo or lotions or bath bomb. So it really does feel like you're not being pampered. Bed And Breakfast should always feel like you're being pampered. And inside the room, you're not giving any type of bottled water, filtered water and so you rely on the bathroom sink in the bathroom tub. Which I thought was really bad. The outside of the room was covered in Pineneedles on the walkway, and so we tracked some into a room. When we were trying to get into the door, some even to get into the wheels of our suitcase. It was kind of annoying. The area is just really dated and not well kept. However, that does give it a very rustic feel and so if you're into that kind of thing that it may suit your fancy. It does have a really cute cat that keeps you company in the random deer that you will see from time to time. Overall, I'm sure it meets the needs of a specific clientele that would enjoy that atmosphere but when I go to a bed-and-breakfast, I consider myself to be high maintenance. So they certainly could meet the need a specific individuals however, it's not a place that I would really return to .

When she did finally look up she didn't say I'm sorry for the delay, or apologize or anything. Just looked at us like we were just an annoyance in her life at that time. She had an attitude and was NOT friendly at all! She didn't smile and was very rude! My friend asked her what time would the bar open? Her response was NEVER, again friend asked will it ever open and her response was NOPE. I will never stay there again. Honestly, we went in and out a lot and not once did we see her smile in the 2 days of staying there. It would probably be in your best interest for your hotel by getting rid of her. I didn't catch her name because she didn't have a badge on. She was working the desk on Monday the 23rd of March at 4:00 in the afternoon. I could give a description of her but maybe you can figure out who she was by the date and time. Also, if you advertise a bar it should be open. Ridiculous!!!! I'm sure this will never make it to the right people because it looks like there are a lot of complaints about the check in process.

The bed is comfortable, the linens and towels of the quality expected in a nice hotel. Physically, the place is nice. What is lacking is a customer experience commensurate with their hype. They are posers. Gone are the days, when the clerk comes from behind the counter to hand you your room key and walk you to the elevator. That used to be a Marriott trademark, but no trace of it at the Barfield. I decided to eat at the bar. Same menu as the hotel's Toscana Italian Steakhouse. Even though there were three women behind the bar, and only six other patrons, it took a while to be recognized, since the staff were all busily chit-chatting with each other. Finally, one of the women brought me a glass of bar mix. I looked at it, trying to figure out what it was. It was the consistency of large-grain salt--I would need a spoon to eat it. I asked another of the staff on her way by what it was, and, after examining it, she said, "It looks like you got the bottom of the bag." What level of mindlessness does it take to pour a glass of bar-mix crumbs, hand it to a guest, and think that's world-class? Dinner was the next disappointment. I was interested in the "Creole Tortellini," but asked if they could prepare it with any type of red sauce, instead of the cream sauce. "No problem," I was told. As I was finishing my salad, the woman returned to say they couldn't accommodate the request because "everything was already mixed together." Prepared in-kitchen earlier in the day, or in a Sysco bag, I'll never know. Next try was Steak Frites, steak done medium. It came out medium-well with cold fries. The highlight was the glass of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo I ordered. The "fond farewell" I received early next morning was from the "valet." When he brought the car around, he exited the car, closed the door, and handed me the key as he walked by me while I stood at the rear of my car with my bag. He rushed back inside, leaving me standing there with his tip in my hand. Based on my experience, the Barfield wants to be a high-end hotel, but not enough to actually work at it. Not worth the premium.
