We spent the night while traveling through Amarillo. Great location, pet friendly and the best Texas shaped waffle for breakfast. Daphne who checked us in was so great. Rates were affordable. Clean room with easy access to get in. We stayed here a year ago and experienced the same great service. The room has a microwave, nice size refrigerator and comfy bed.

We had a pretty good stay here. I was looking for a hotel on the inexpensive side so I could get 2 rooms to surprise my son and his friends after his birthday party at Cinergy. I feel like I know what to expect based on hotel price points. I wanted a "plain" looking smallish room because my goal was to decorate the room in his bday theme. And to get 2 rooms but stay in budget. Because that was what I was looking for, this was a decent stay. I called before to make sure I could check in early to get everything ready. I was told I could check in at 11am but it would be $25. I live 1.5 hours from Amarillo, so I drove early and arrived to Amarillo before noon. I called and was told that there were no rooms available and they all wouldn't be available until 2. At the exact time my son was supposed to arrive to see his surprise. Over the phone, there was no trying to help. It was just "that's the way it is." Even though that's not what I was told and if it was I would have chosen somewhere else. I had to change plans, change the timing for everyone, change the birthday party time at Cinergy (luckily they were super helpful) ... So I get to the hotel around 1. The young girl at the front desk was more pleasant in person than over the phone and was able to get me one of the rooms around 1. After being inconvenienced I don't think I should have had to pay $25 to open a room that was already ready, one hour early. But I didn't have time to argue. There were a good amount of people coming in and out and so it could have been very noisy and easy to complain, but we just joined them. Our kids played in the parking lot until around 8 or 9 and then we all went in our rooms and we slept peacefully without being woken up by noise. I never walk barefoot in a hotel room (rarely even in my own home), I don't use hotel toiletries, and I don't use the comforter - so I can't speak to those things. But the room felt clean otherwise. My only complaint was that it was HOT. Texas summer heat and an AC that didn't work but I couldn't call to complain because moving rooms wasn't an option after I had already decorated.

Totally unkept room. No idea who's tooth brush this is.

I had high hopes, because the pictures looked cool, and it largely is. When first checked in though, i was given a room that hadn't been cleaned and still had people's stuff laying around. Then I was given another room, to which lock didn't work. When I finally got the key to a working room, it was in ok condition. Little hairs all around. Much of the staff was rude, one guy at the counter was even aggressive. Don't recommend.

    Stain on the floor.

The reception and the outside area is really nice but the rooms are more like a motel, the gentleman at the front desk was really nice and welcoming. We are just spending the night and leaving early so it's fine but I personally wouldn't stay here again. The room has stains on the floor which different from the pictures has carpet and not flooring and it smells a little bit. The pictures are better than the final product let's say.

I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and this one has to be the worst. We were attracted to this place because of the pics and reviews online. Once we arrived let's just sayyy... The Good: *lobby and courtyard have a cute fun trendy vibe and are "Instagram worthy"...lol. *front desk personnel very nice/friendly *rooms are "tidy" looking The Bad: *barely slept 2 hours so noisy *you can hear every move the room above makes *right off the highway so you hear every car, truck, motorcycle coming and going and horns honking *area is shady and is across from a barely lit Super8 *it's an old motel "renovated" (but mostly it's just the lobby) *guest rooms do not reflect the cute chic lobby we were just in. The Ugly: *carpets are old nasty and appear to be from 1960's...brown stains all over like all over - so bad I put a towel down so my bare feet wouldn't touch *the room smell like a dank musty old janitors room that never goes away. *beds are "full size" not queen *mattresses are squeaky *rooms feel sticky Save your sleep and money!! The cute lobby and mural for pictures are FREE. Am happy and THANK GOD we stayed for just for one night, but can say we were definitely duped by the online pictures.

Do not book a room, they will cancel your reservation without notice. I booked a room via their website for same day, 4 hours later they cancelled my reservation. The lady I spoke with said the website the website I used, "Expedia or whatever" had booked a room that were not available. I booked directly through their website site.

I REALLY wanted to love this place but there are quite a few cons. First and foremost, yes, the carpets are stained and disgusting. To mask the smell they put in a deodorizer which is not to be ran when people occupy the room yet it was still running when we arrived. The smell isn't all that great and I wouldn't suggest going barefoot. I would recommend pulling all carpets and switching to 100% hardwood/laminate if they wish to further host pets. Second, the property is not as glamorous as advertised; the property is a bit run down and maybe not as well kept as it could be. The rooms are fairly small also. There was no body wash in the container as it was never refilled in who knows how long? The tv in my dad's room was non operational. There was bird poop on the chairs in the courtyard and the turf for the pet relief could be better kept. For the most part, it's fine for a quick stay, but maybe look into something a bit more clean? The price is attractive though and its next to a fire station which makes it feel safe. The mural is pretty for sure and that would be the nicest feature!

    Great products!

Drury Inn & Suites Amarillo - Swimming pool (& hot tub not pictured) 10/8/2022

Aside from the hospitality, I am guessing the kickback hour is a big draw as well. They are also pet friendly. We were on a roadtrip to Colorado and decided to spend the night on our way back. There were 2 tour buses when we arrived and it looked like we just missed the crowd at check-in. The front desk folks were an epitome of Texas hospitality. Friendly, laid back and the ladies just made us feel so welcome. We were given 3 drink coupons each for kickback hour. Our 2 queen room on the 2nd floor didn't have much of a view but it was homey and quiet. Kickback hour was busy but staff were surprisingly very accommodating. Their margaritas will give you a buzz. They have hot food items, soup and a salad for the complimentary light dinner. For those that have not stayed at a Drury Inn before, the kickback hour is similar to Embassy Suites' evening reception, but WAY better. We slept surprisingly well, considering the hotel's proximity to the highway. We had no problems with the ac either. Breakfast was better than your typical hotel breakfast with a bunch of options. We did not get to use the other facilities because we had to head out early. This was our first time staying at a Drury property. I'm normally a Hilton and Marriott girl but I'll definitely choose Drury if there is one available in my future destinations. We also appreciate the military discount they offer. Thanks for a memorable stay!

One of the biggest issues was the lack of consistent air conditioning throughout the building, which made common areas feel uncomfortable at times. I also found the terrace layout inconvenient since there are no stairs providing direct access, making it less practical than expected. Unfortunately, the room had a funky odor when I arrived that never completely went away during my stay. While the staff was courteous and the location was convenient, the overall experience didn't match the quality I expected. With some renovations and improved upkeep, this hotel could be a much better place to stay.

Starlight Canyon - Mesquite room hot tub (10/9/2022)

I am the single mom who brought her kids here to share the Mesquite room on October 9-10, 2022. This bed and breakfast is located in a somewhat remote area of Amarillo, Texas. The surrounding landscape is a bit reminiscent of Palo Duro Canyon - which is just a short drive away - but not in an extreme way that the Lone Star state park yields. The view from the hot tub at 7:30PM was amazing with a glorious display of sunset colors. Robes were provided behind the bathroom door. Near the pond on the old red, white, and blue amusement park ride chair, we found a walking stick. A friendly orange Tabby cat kept returning to our front door. My 8 and 9-year-old couldn't resist petting the stray feline. We weren't crazy about the continental breakfast which comprised of a cherry turnover, Yoplait yogurt, and Tropicana apple juice so we'll pass on that if we don't stay on a morning when they offer a hot meal. Just a couple of other cons: I leave to pick up pizza in town and someone takes my spot in front of our door. Lol. Also, my stupid Sprint/T-mobile coverage was terrible here. The other accomodations definitely overrode the somewhat lacking Monday morning breakfast: quiet neighborhood, calm weather, microwave, mini fridge, iron & board, lots of programs on the TV, free Wi-Fi, walk-in shower, and private gated area with code access.

We stayed in the Pinion. The positives. It's remote and really close to Palo Duro Canyon (18 minutes) That was nice. It's about 12 minutes from the Big Texan. It's in a pretty setting. The bed was comfy. We stay at B&B's because there is a level of expectation where hospitality takes over and you feel like you were being treated like royalty. This is not that place. It almost felt like our stay was a little bit of an inconvenience. The room is small and very dated, but covered in wood plank and not very clean. A lot of dust. This particular room did not have a shower and only a bath tub with the hot water trickles out. I'm not joking. It took about 30 minutes to fill the bathtub. Tip 1. Make sure to ask if the room you are booking has a shower if you're needing a shower for medical reasons or handicap accessibility. According to one of the reviews, and in their pictures, there appeared to be a nice shower in the mesquite, but we weren't given the chance to stay there. Once you get in the room, you're given two towels for the bath and two towels for the hot tub. I uncovered the hot tub to see that the water was very cloudy and it wasn't a result of the bubbles. So I put the cover right back on. They don't give you anything with respect to toiletries when it comes to soap or shampoo or lotions or bath bomb. So it really does feel like you're not being pampered. Bed And Breakfast should always feel like you're being pampered. And inside the room, you're not giving any type of bottled water, filtered water and so you rely on the bathroom sink in the bathroom tub. Which I thought was really bad. The outside of the room was covered in Pineneedles on the walkway, and so we tracked some into a room. When we were trying to get into the door, some even to get into the wheels of our suitcase. It was kind of annoying. The area is just really dated and not well kept. However, that does give it a very rustic feel and so if you're into that kind of thing that it may suit your fancy. It does have a really cute cat that keeps you company in the random deer that you will see from time to time. Overall, I'm sure it meets the needs of a specific clientele that would enjoy that atmosphere but when I go to a bed-and-breakfast, I consider myself to be high maintenance. So they certainly could meet the need a specific individuals however, it's not a place that I would really return to .
