    Focaccia bread. The best!
    Mary K.

This is a lovely hotel, very clean, everyone was more than friendly, excellent bar and delicious food. The hotel itself is a fun place to stay. Every time we went to the bar, it was very busy. Angel, the server, was more than friendly, very helpful and after going over the menu with us, made us change our minds about pizza. Hahaha. We ate at the bar and the food was delicious. The best focaccia bread I have ever had, and I order it all the time. Also make it at home. The Cesar salad made with shaved brussels sprouts was delicious. I never would have ordered that without the recommendation from Angel. The meatballs were very good, huge order. More than one person can eat. My husband had the fennel crusted salmon and it was delicious. Cooked to perfection. I just can't say enough about the place, Angel, or the food.

The best place in Amarillo to have a unique eclectic experience. I'm going to miss the Barfield!

Oh, the Autograph Collection. I love these little hotels, as they always seem to embody the character of the location I'm visiting. The latest adventure with my husband was a road trip from Denver, CO to Houston, TX to help our son move into his new digs at Rice University. Our overnight stop was in Amarillo, TX and the Barfield seemed like the obvious place to stay. We stopped on the way down to Houston and back, one night each time. Our stop on the way down was an exceptional experience. The friendly valet kept our car close, should we need it (this hotel was in town, no real parking beyond street parking), and offered directions to various spots around town. Our son arrived ahead of us, and got the keys to both our rooms. After meeting him in the entry lobby, which was adorned with leather and cowhide furniture, we entered the elevator to find a quaint and unexpected example of historical preservation. The floor of the elevators sport an emblem of the Derringer Pistols which, as the story goes, the original developer, the "Duchess", carried in the early 1920's as protection. We went up to our rooms, and found that the team had upgraded my son's room so that we could have an adjoining room situation, with a door that opened between us. Given that this was one of the final days before I would be a true "empty nester", this was a treasured gesture. All was well in these nice rooms. The hotel team pointed us to our restaurant, Ohm's, just around the corner. What a fine restaurant, sure to be the subject of a separate review. Fast forward 5 days to our return stop at the Barfield. My Marriott profile contains a request for a room on an upper floor. Don't ask me why; it just seems like the views are better from above. I also always ask if there are any upgrades when I check into a hotel, especially if I'm a member of their loyalty program. After this 9 hour drive through the Texas heat (car said 112 degrees at one stop), I was told my room was on the 2nd floor, and my request for an upgrade, at least to a higher floor, was met with "we are full, and all the rooms are assigned". I thought about how I had checked in online right away when I received my check-in email. But it's just one night, and I'm tired. I took her word and ambled up to our second floor room. The view was worse than non-existent, with a bunch of machinery outside our window. Again, it's a bed for one night. Off we went to find dinner. We ended up at the lovely restaurant off the lobby, called Toscana. This also warrants its own review, especially as the experience brought the stars on this review from an abysmal 2 to an acceptable 3-star review. When we returned to our room after dinner, we started getting ready for bed and noted that the machinery outside our window was LOUD! TOO LOUD! Air conditioning for the entire building is my guess, but it was too dark to see now. OK, so I called down to ask if anything could be done about the noise, and they told me they could move me to another room. There had been a cancellation. Up to the 4th floor we go, 10:00pm with my husband in his robe and slippers--moving all suitcases, etc. The room was higher and quieter, and the staff told me several times that they were glad there was a cancellation. This room was not at the level that I paid for, and rather than admit this and refund me the difference, I had to go down and argue about this on my way out the door the next day. I did eventually get a reimbursement for the difference in room price, but the whole thing left a very bad taste in my mouth. I don't think they should be offering that room to anyone without divulging its pitfalls, and it should not be booked out at a regular rate. It was clear to me that the staff the next morning knew exactly which room I'd been in, and that they field frequent complaints. Marriott should pay closer attention to membership profiles and honor their members with more honest communication. I appreciate their reimbursement for the lower room category, and next time will ask more questions at the front desk before accepting my room.

Was super impressed with my stay at this hotel. From my perspective, it has three things really going for it. Number 1, it's just really nice. From the second you enter the lobby, you can tell thought and effort went into making this a nice and comfortable place to stay at. It's super clean and well put together. I saw someone complain about room size but unless you're trying to fit more than a couple of people in your room, I don't see this as an issue. And the spacious bathroom more than makes up for this. In fact, I want this bathroom at home! Number 2, the employees here are super nice, helpful, and full of personality. Number 3, location, location, location. You're situated on a cute old town street with plenty to see and experience. I've avoided Amarillo for work but will no longer do so.... I can't wait to go back and stay here!

This place is beautiful. An old bank building almost 100 years old, repurposed into a beautiful modern hotel. It was also a library for many years after being a bank and they've maintained that legacy by decorating with old books throughout. There is a speakeasy in the basement which is accessed through a cigarette machine! Very cool! The staff are great, friendly, and courteous.

Dreamt of one of the statuesque buildings in the captivating historic district of Amarillo being poured over with pixie dust and vintage revival hotel in full regalia appears! Fortunately, my utopia arose & in a riveting West Texas vintage cowboy era garmented in luxury couture!!! My Mom always asks & here is the answer to your first question: No, you do not have to pay for Valet Parking! You will be so impressed with the kindness, charm & patience of the valet service that is an obvious win as all privy peeps will tip steep for such a wondrous, courteous expert to park your car! Entering the hotel takes your gaze in 100 directions & the cowboy couture is enchanting as the lobby is filled with thematic appropriate yet luxurious & comfy lounging spaces with a case brimming with historic books, pics & sparkles what nots from the era! The elevator boasts with full chest expansion in marble & two pistols crossed artfully emblazoned into the flooring & gold hazed mirrors reminiscent of an an old saloon. The rooms are expansive, elegant & fit the decorum & you may request either a bathtub or shower! Being as I am a tub connoisseur, I adored the red wood mini shelf which you may utilize for beverage, book, brûlée or grooming accoutrements.. The bed is delightful & curtains darken to your desired effect& splendid linens, mattress & pillows promote a celestial sleep. The restaurant, bar and speak easy are just delightful & each dish & drink is prepared with precision & served with sincere & enlightening hospitality... I would amble on but, this 5 star experience is one to indulge & explore & subjectively intake all its delights! 5 star & truly welcome & wonder await you and your guests!

I really love this hotel! This was my first time staying there, all of my fellow flight attendants raved about it and I see why. The modern decor in the rooms and the lounge are wonderful, so neat, clean and new. This was my first time ever staying Amarillo, so this was a great first impression. The bed was super comfortable, loved the placement of the two chairs in front of the bed and the bathroom was cute and chic. I honestly can't wait to go back...especially for the SpeakEasy. My crew and I went for a couple of drinks and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Aside from the hospitality, I am guessing the kickback hour is a big draw as well. They are also pet friendly. We were on a roadtrip to Colorado and decided to spend the night on our way back. There were 2 tour buses when we arrived and it looked like we just missed the crowd at check-in. The front desk folks were an epitome of Texas hospitality. Friendly, laid back and the ladies just made us feel so welcome. We were given 3 drink coupons each for kickback hour. Our 2 queen room on the 2nd floor didn't have much of a view but it was homey and quiet. Kickback hour was busy but staff were surprisingly very accommodating. Their margaritas will give you a buzz. They have hot food items, soup and a salad for the complimentary light dinner. For those that have not stayed at a Drury Inn before, the kickback hour is similar to Embassy Suites' evening reception, but WAY better. I am the single mom who brought her kids here to share the Mesquite room on October 9-10, 2022. This bed and breakfast is located in a somewhat remote area of Amarillo, Texas. The surrounding landscape is a bit reminiscent of Palo Duro Canyon - which is just a short drive away - but not in an extreme way that the Lone Star state park yields. The view from the hot tub at 7:30PM was amazing with a glorious display of sunset colors. Robes were provided behind the bathroom door. Near the pond on the old red, white, and blue amusement park ride chair, we found a walking stick. A friendly orange Tabby cat kept returning to our front door. My 8 and 9-year-old couldn't resist petting the stray feline. We weren't crazy about the continental breakfast which comprised of a cherry turnover, Yoplait yogurt, and Tropicana apple juice so we'll pass on that if we don't stay on a morning when they offer a hot meal. Just a couple of other cons: I leave to pick up pizza in town and someone takes my spot in front of our door. Lol. Also, my stupid Sprint/T-mobile coverage was terrible here. The other accomodations definitely overrode the somewhat lacking Monday morning breakfast: quiet neighborhood, calm weather, microwave, mini fridge, iron & board, lots of programs on the TV, free Wi-Fi, walk-in shower, and private gated area with code access.

We stayed in the Pinion. The positives. It's remote and really close to Palo Duro Canyon (18 minutes) That was nice. It's about 12 minutes from the Big Texan. It's in a pretty setting. The bed was comfy. We stay at B&B's because there is a level of expectation where hospitality takes over and you feel like you were being treated like royalty. This is not that place. It almost felt like our stay was a little bit of an inconvenience. The room is small and very dated, but covered in wood plank and not very clean. A lot of dust. This particular room did not have a shower and only a bath tub with the hot water trickles out. I'm not joking. It took about 30 minutes to fill the bathtub. Tip 1. Make sure to ask if the room you are booking has a shower if you're needing a shower for medical reasons or handicap accessibility. According to one of the reviews, and in their pictures, there appeared to be a nice shower in the mesquite, but we weren't given the chance to stay there. Once you get in the room, you're given two towels for the bath and two towels for the hot tub. I uncovered the hot tub to see that the water was very cloudy and it wasn't a result of the bubbles. So I put the cover right back on. They don't give you anything with respect to toiletries when it comes to soap or shampoo or lotions or bath bomb. So it really does feel like you're not being pampered. Bed And Breakfast should always feel like you're being pampered. And inside the room, you're not giving any type of bottled water, filtered water and so you rely on the bathroom sink in the bathroom tub. Which I thought was really bad. The outside of the room was covered in Pineneedles on the walkway, and so we tracked some into a room. When we were trying to get into the door, some even to get into the wheels of our suitcase. It was kind of annoying. The area is just really dated and not well kept. However, that does give it a very rustic feel and so if you're into that kind of thing that it may suit your fancy. It does have a really cute cat that keeps you company in the random deer that you will see from time to time. Overall, I'm sure it meets the needs of a specific clientele that would enjoy that atmosphere but when I go to a bed-and-breakfast, I consider myself to be high maintenance. So they certainly could meet the need a specific individuals however, it's not a place that I would really return to .
