Most folks reviewed Starlight Canyon after a weekend retreat with their fiancés, spouse or significant other... It's that kind of place. Lol. I am the single mom who brought her kids here to share the Mesquite room on October 9-10, 2022. This bed and breakfast is located in a somewhat remote area of Amarillo, Texas. The surrounding landscape is a bit reminiscent of Palo Duro Canyon - which is just a short drive away - but not in an extreme way that the Lone Star state park yields. The view from the hot tub at 7:30PM was amazing with a glorious display of sunset colors. Robes were provided behind the bathroom door. Near the pond on the old red, white, and blue amusement park ride chair, we found a walking stick. A friendly orange Tabby cat kept returning to our front door. My 8 and 9-year-old couldn't resist petting the stray feline. We weren't crazy about the continental breakfast which comprised of a cherry turnover, Yoplait yogurt, and Tropicana apple juice so we'll pass on that if we don't stay on a morning when they offer a hot meal. Just a couple of other cons: I leave to pick up pizza in town and someone takes my spot in front of our door. Lol. Also, my stupid Sprint/T-mobile coverage was terrible here. The other accomodations definitely overrode the somewhat lacking Monday morning breakfast: quiet neighborhood, calm weather, microwave, mini fridge, iron & board, lots of programs on the TV, free Wi-Fi, walk-in shower, and private gated area with code access. read more

My wife and I are celebrating 20 years of marriage by going west and being spontaneous. When looking for a pace to stay, we found this, so we thought we would give it a go. We stayed in the Pinion. The positives. It's remote and really close to Palo Duro Canyon (18 minutes) That was nice. It's about 12 minutes from the Big Texan. It's in a pretty setting. The bed was comfy. We stay at B&B's because there is a level of expectation where hospitality takes over and you feel like you were being treated like royalty. This is not that place. It almost felt like our stay was a little bit of an inconvenience. The room is small and very dated, but covered in wood plank and not very clean. A lot of dust. This particular room did not have a shower and only a bath tub with the hot water trickles out. I'm not joking. It took about 30 minutes to fill the bathtub. Tip 1. Make sure to ask if the room you are booking has a shower if you're needing a shower for medical reasons or handicap accessibility. According to one of the reviews, and in their pictures, there appeared to be a nice shower in the mesquite, but we weren't given the chance to stay there. Once you get in the room, you're given two towels for the bath and two towels for the hot tub. I uncovered the hot tub to see that the water was very cloudy and it wasn't a result of the bubbles. So I put the cover right back on. They don't give you anything with respect to toiletries when it comes to soap or shampoo or lotions or bath bomb. So it really does feel like you're not being pampered. Bed And Breakfast should always feel like you're being pampered. And inside the room, you're not giving any type of bottled water, filtered water and so you rely on the bathroom sink in the bathroom tub. Which I thought was really bad. The outside of the room was covered in Pineneedles on the walkway, and so we tracked some into a room. When we were trying to get into the door, some even to get into the wheels of our suitcase. It was kind of annoying. The area is just really dated and not well kept. However, that does give it a very rustic feel and so if you're into that kind of thing that it may suit your fancy. It does have a really cute cat that keeps you company in the random deer that you will see from time to time. Overall, I'm sure it meets the needs of a specific clientele that would enjoy that atmosphere but when I go to a bed-and-breakfast, I consider myself to be high maintenance. So they certainly could meet the need a specific individuals however, it's not a place that I would really return to . read more

There are not enough words of affirmation to describe this place and the ambiance...of course my fiancé made it happen! The cabin is wonderful and the host are very accommodating! We had a romantic 4 course dinner, along with romance package!! The room was lit with candles and champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were waiting when we returned! The hot tub was hot! And so relaxing... I can't wait until breakfast and then to tour the canyon... high praises to the host!! We will definitely be back and tell our friends! read more

We stumbled upon this place while searching for a hotel near Amarillo. So glad we did. I would much rather stay in a historic location rather than a chain hotel. Super quaint little rooms with everything we needed and then some. Fireplace, private hot tub, comfy bed and HOT shower. We would definitely stay again if in the area. We even saw a family of deer resting nearby and a possum crossed the road as we left. read more

I wish I could give this cute little getaway 6 stars. This is located in between Palo Duro Canyons and Amarillo. It is great to stay here, wake up, go hike, eat in Canyon and stop for a Palace coffee, go back to Starlight canyon for a cocktail in your private hot tub. Yeah you read that right, private hot tub. My husband and I have stayed in all of the different rooms they have to offer. They are really all divine. Decorated kinda like a Denver Cabin. The beds are like pillows. They breakfasts are gourmet. They even make their own cinnamon rolls and they are literally the best I have ever had. They have luxurious bathtubs. Some of the lodges even have fireplaces! You can even bring your pups! This is a great place to exhale and relax, or get married. The owners are the sweetest. read more

This was our first time at a B&B and we wanted it to be special because it was for our one year anniversary. Did some research online and found their website and decided on staying in the Aspen Cabin. It was beautiful and cozy complete with a fireplace, private fenced in hot tub, games, satellite tv, oversized bath tub and a mini kitchenette. Only complaint about the room was that we kind of hoped for a mini stove to be able to cook meals while we stayed the entire weekend. All we had was a tiny mini fridge & a microwave but we made due. It's wise to bring groceries but not too much as you might not have room in the fridge to store it if it's cold. If you stay here you get breakfast free each morning and the breakfast is REALLY good. I had scrambled eggs with cheese and green chili while my other half had Belgin waffles. YUM! The ladies who run it are really nice and accommodating. In the main cabin, where you have breakfast, they have a cabinet of dvds you can take back to your room and watch. They have a WIDE selection and even brand new movies that were just released on DVD. The grounds itself is very nice and you could have a picnic like we did and roam the gated property. I will be staying here again but trying a different room next time. Only draw back is that they do offer weddings and if you're a guest while the wedding goes on there are a ton of people there and cars everywhere so it makes you feel less secluded. HOWEVER, if you're a bride to be and want an outdoor wedding I would say it's a nice spot. You an even book up the rooms and stay there yourself! read more

This was a delightful little find. We were only able to stay one night, but it was worth it. We were on day four of a five day motorcycle trip, and the hot tub was perfect for sore muscles and cold riding weather. We have two chihuahuas that travel with us and they loved exploring the property. The owner greeted us when we pulled up, and we knew up front which days hot breakfast/cold breakfast was served. We were left with two huge cinnamon rolls (my favorite!), some yogurt, coffee and juice. Perfect for us because we hit the road early, maybe others will need to bring a little something that prefer more in the mornings. Our unit had a full kitchen, fridge, stove and sink, also a small living room, normal bedroom and bathroom. And again, private patio with hot tub. It can be a little pricey depending on what you're used to, but a tranquil evening under the vast Texas sky was worth it. We will be making plans in the future to stay again. read more

Overall the experience was ok and the owners where very nice. We requested the massage and dinner advertised which they could not accommodate. We stayed Thursday night and expected a nice continental breakfast which was advertised as well. Instead we had a homemade pastry left in our room which had been frozen and wrapped in Saran Wrap to unthaw. The breakfast on Saturday was good but not fantastic. The best part of the stay was the picnic which was $85 and over priced but we enjoyed it. Overall the experience was nice but over priced for what they offered. read more

It is tucked away from the interstate and traffic, perfect for a B&B and also has great facilities for a wedding or family reunion. Best of all the owners/operators are as friendly and helpful as can be. My little heaven on earth ioutside of Amarillo. This place is generally a more couples type of destination but I come here for work monthly. It is an absolutely wonderful and peaceful place to go to after a long day at work and an even more pleasant place to curl up for 5 -6 more hours of work in the room. It's a perfect way to balance the stress of work to have a beautiful, well loved place to go home to each night. The innkeepers are attentive if needed but are amazingly respectful of privacy for us work people. They make it feel like a private sanctuary and home away from home. You do have to plan to go a little further out for meals or groceries but that's easy to do on way home from work. I don't want to gush too much because I always to want have my room here :) it's a luxury cabin like feel with so much warmth and love in each room. read more

The Starlight Canyon is a Gem! We were delighted to find this lovely B&B in the heart of the Panhandle. Great hospitality, romantic and spacious cottages, and scenic grounds to explore. My husband & two dogs were looking for a nice place stay and we couldn't have been any happier than in the Aspen. My wife and I stayed in the Aspen for one night in July 2018. We were on our way back to McKinney, TX from a Colorado trip and that's why we only did one night. It was very nice. The room was clean, spacious, and very quiet. We loved it. The grounds are beautiful and the main lodge is a stunning, rock building. Loved the architecture. The owners are really friendly and a pleasure to speak with about the area. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to spending more time there. read more

This bed and breakfast was such a great find. I was traveling across the country on a solo trip and found this to be such a perfect place for me to unwind and relax in the middle of my trip. The communication was easy and the cabin was so beautifully decorated and cozy. I was most excited about the hot tub which was just perfect, especially at night looking up at the stars. There was a family of deer on the private grounds at sunset. It was very quiet and peaceful. I would like to help brides out when they are trying to find the "perfect" place to have their wedding. Everything looks and sounds great... but all gets changed on the day of the wedding. :( I met with Tammy to view the facility and go over all of the services. While living out of town it was rather challenging. Tammy stated that she has brides that do this all the time and that she will be taking care of everything. She said to just let her know what all I would like and ect. I sent her emails and pictures of everything that I would like for the wedding. Even the wedding cake topper was wrong. She said that I could pick it out online and to just let her know which one so that she could order it. I selected one that had a big initial on it of our last name and below it you could put whatever you would like. Well, of course I put our names. Turned out that the only thing on it was our names. It looked very cheap! On our wedding day it turned out that there wasn't the amazing lighting she promised, the meal and beverages were supposed to have been setup in the building where we were having the reception, the decoration wasn't placed where she had told me it would be. She promised so many things and I didn't see any of it. We paid so much money for her to take care of everything and she didn't. The photographer was horrible. Made us take pictures where the sun was in everyone's eyes, in our pictures everyone is squinting, and there was horrible stuff in the background. We had other people there taking pictures and the photographer literally asked them if they were professionals... more in a rudely manner. We had trouble receives our photographs after the wedding, Tammy had no idea what was going on. We ended up receiving very few pictures and none of the ones we had asked for. It was definitely a waste of our money... more of the moment where we want to go back and redo it. Even the dj played horrible songs, none of which we had requested. Tammy didn't even start preparing for the wedding until an hour before. When we had arrived to get ready nothing was setup. No chairs or decorations. The photographer arrived thirty minutes late and left early. I urge brides to think again if they think this place sounds great. It looks amazing on paper... but it won't be nothing like the way you plan. If you do have your wedding here I hope it's a better experience. read more

Positives As far as a nice, clean, quiet and romantic getaway, I would give StarlightCanyon 5 Stars! We're pretty picky when looking for a cabin/B&B. Must have an outdoor hot tub, must be clean and other than that it must have basic amenities that a 3 star + hotel would have. StarlightCanyon has all of this. For the past 10 years we've gone there anywhere from 2 to 4 times per year for long weekend getaways. We've gone with friends and family and recommended this place to numerous people and they have gone several times. Negative With the new owners the price has skyrocketed over the last 3 years and we haven't been back for over a year and a half now. We recently stayed in Santa Fe, NM for 3 nights at a very similar place for under $450 b/c the price to stay is a better deal for the same type cabin! StarlightCanyon would've cost nearly $650 for the same 3 night stay! StarlightCanyon is on par price wise, per night w/ going to Cancun or Cabo to an all-inclusive which we've also done instead of StarlightCanyon over the last several years. StarlightCanyon isn't anywhere close to a Mexican all-inclusive resort for what you get and where you are! I'd give the value over all b/c of how much it costs per night for StarlightCanyon only 1 Star. I understand that at certain times a year, the price the owners are asking is warranted, especially during wedding season. But not all the time! Until then, there are much better values for the same thing all around Texas and New Mexico! If they'd be realistic in their pricing throughout the year, we'd be back! 5 Stars for the place itself! 1 Star for being way over priced! read more

My husband and I stayed at the Starlight Canyon this past weekend to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. We were hoping for a quiet, romantic spot to get away from the kids and spend some quality time together. That's exactly what we got. When I first drove up, I was immediately impressed with the grounds. There were even deer roaming and sitting around the property like they completely belonged there! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Aspen room and it was just what I was looking for. Cozy, and nicely decorated. The bathtub was huge and the bed was extremely comfortable. Very nice mattress and bedding! Definitely NOT your typical hotel bed! The hot tub on the private fenced in patio was a definite plus! I ordered the Romance package, and when my husband and I got back from dinner, the room was totally transformed with candles everywhere - even all around thebathtub and hot tub, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries were waiting for us too. It was the quietest night I have ever had away from home - since it's such a cozy place, and everyone has their own "cabin" there's no foot traffic or other guests outside your room to keep you awake. The next morning we went to the main house for breakfast and it was delicious (as expected). Fresh fruit, Belgian Waffles, and Bacon were served to us within minutes of sitting down. I would recommend this place to anyone and I hope to stay there again very soon. read more

Very romantic get away close to Amarillo. Clean, cozy, private rooms each with their own hot tub in a private fenced patio. Located in upper Palo Duro Canyon, you will no longer believe you're on the prairie. Green lawns and large trees in a gated compound. Did I say private? The weekend breakfast is delicious.
