You CANNOT walk into it from this campground. Everywhere you look are NO TRESSPASSING signs all along the thing, which is super annoying. I chose this place to take the dogs on a nice walk into the canyon but seeing these red NO TRESSPASSING signs everywhere killed it for me. We also hit a horrible snow and ice storm staying here. I had no idea it was going to get so cold. My water hose froze to the RV and the pump. I had to use a lighter and grit to get it unstuck. This was the first RV park I ever stayed at. The fact that we couldn't go into the canyon really killed it. The weather didn't help but I know it's not their fault.

Comfortable, soft seating areas by the front desk and breakfast area. A round table with chairs would be nice for family breakfast or an after work meet up. Wide tables over looking the patio would make a nice space to get some work done on your laptop. A small 'business center' is tucked into a corner here. All outside entrances, except at reception, require a key card to enter 24/7, as does the elevator. The gym is nicely appointed and over looks the indoor pool. The pool has two entrances: one to the elevator area, and one to the outdoor patio area. The patio is cozy with a firepit, overhead lights, several small seating areas and a privacy wall. Patio is also accessible from the breakfast area or parking lot. Public restrooms are just outside the gym with a water bottle filling station. Ice machines are near the elevators on each floor. Our king suite was spacious. A cushioned bench by the door can be used for putting on shoes or holding a small suit case. Closet next to the bench holds hangers, iron, board and blanket. No portable suitcase rack. We used two round foot stools under the coffee table to hold our suitcase. There is a good amount of bathroom vanity space for personal items. Tub/shower combo has multi-use products affixed to the wall. Everything was clean and in good working order. We acquired additional wash clothes from housekeeping for our multi-day stay. The in-room fridge and microwave are in a cabinet by the door. Ice and coffee service on top of the cabinet. A good size desk is just inside the room and has plugs for your electronics and an adjustable chair. A couch and coffee table are across from the desk. We had company visit in room and the desk chair was a comfortable addition to the sitting area. A flat screen TV is across from the comfortable bed. Soft sheets, nice weight duvet, a variety of pillow densities. Blackout curtains worked well. Heating/cooling unit wasn't the most quiet, but wasn't obnoxious either. Controls are on the wall. Bedside tables have a good amount of space, two plugs, two USB ports. All staff members we encountered were pleasant. Breakfast is OK. Waffles, a couple of hot options, cold cereal, yogurt, toaster and pastry, coffee and tea. The area was kept clean. Real dishes, cups and flatware (not disposable) is a very nice touch. Handicap parking by the entrance along with EV charge stations. Luggage carts next to reception are the smaller style.

Don't get me wrong, it's not the Taj Mahal but for an older budget hotel you can't beat it. I've seen some of the other reviews and don't understand what they are talking about. I have never had a problem booking a room at all even at different times of the day or night. I've never had any problems with bugs or filthy rooms. So don't understand how those Reviewers came to that conclusion. We will continue to stop here during our travels and will definitely stay here again.

While it's not elegant or fancy, all of the basics were covered and the TV worked fine (until a rain system moved in and briefly interrupted the signal). The water pressure was intense! It's not the quietest area on a weekend night (sirens blared a few times), but two big pluses were 1) great free ice and 2) easy I-40 adjacency. It was a good bargain, and I would stay here again. Free breakfast every morning was delicious, as was the free Blue Bell ice cream every afternoon. Cabin has a small fridge, pod coffeemaker and complimentary pods (McDonald's), games, s'mores kit, flashlight (for nighttime trips to the bathroom), bug repellent, nice towels, and more, not to mention the comfortable beds. HVAC worked quietly and efficiently. Deck out front has BBQ pits and a fire pit along with rocking chairs and a hammock. ONLY complaint was that wasps kept swarming above our door every afternoon. Staff called park maintenance, who responded right away and sprayed. First day, ran out of spray and wasps returned. Second day, sprayed thoroughly and even climbed a ladder to knock down the nest. Yet they were back again the third day when maintenance doused everything in spray; could not sit outside after that and the wasps were still hanging around! That was the only blemish on an otherwise terrific experience.

There was also a bag of ice and jug of water included, plus bug spray, sunscreen, paper towels, hand sanitizer, hand soap, and sanitizer. We also took our 2 dogs and they enjoyed having the a/c and semi fenced yard which gave them a little boundary. The included ice cream and breakfast is yummy at the nearby Trading Post. We were in D and the walk to the bathroom was a little far, but manageable. If you have mobility issues or a tiny bladder, I would recommend trying for cabin A or B as they are closer to the Trading Post which has a bathroom you can use during their open hours and those cabins are also closer to the parking lot if you decide to drive to the nearby bathroom/shower area. The trail to the cabins is easily wheelchair friendly as it is well maintained and only one slight incline at the start. Another perk, to add to ALL the others, is the included wagon use which makes unloading a breeze. Seriously, this is a great place to stay and the views are breathtaking! The cabin is also beautifully decorated. Stay there, you won't regret it!! Yes, there is no bathroom (you can pay the $8 and use the camping toilet), but they are very upfront about that and it's not that big of a hassle unless you just want to be in your room the whole time. It was pricey, but with the added perks and benefit of being down in the canyon and near trails, we felt it was very fairly priced!

A visitor center, with this being Texas is absolutely bigger and better than anywhere else . The friendly atmosphere of the staff. In fact the gentleman that helped us and greeted us from behind some glass window came out and showed us the "how to do this and that." They made sure we knew what we wanted and needed . If that's even possible! The local business on the outer ring has flora and fauna of the small city of Amarillo. The landscape has a great variety of steel cows to take photos of . It's truly well done . Great little area to walk around and explore the landscape of nature here in Texas. It's bigger and nicer in Texas . Snap a self portrait with horn and those that you love. See what you look like with bull horns . The parking lot has plenty of parking. Lots of free information inside and happy people to share joy about Texas with you.
