The cabin was cozy and homey with a snack basket upon arrival. Very clean and well-maintained. The views are amazing. A storm tripped a breaker and took out the internet and tv. When we called to let them know, a maintenance man was there in MINUTES and got us back up and running. Terrific customer service and the hosts really just made everything easy! Doves rest is everything you want in a rental. The property is wonderful, the cabins have EVERYTHING you might need. My best friend and I spent the night at Chairlift and could've stayed for a week it was so perfect. The views of the canyon were beautiful and panoramic. We spent hours just watching the colors change with the sun on the front porch. The beds amazingly comfortable. The kitchen had all the necessary items to cook a full meal, grill for cooking out or if not wanting to cook Sad Monkey is down the road with yummy sandwiches and snacks. We stayed at the Coyote cabin. It's dog friendly. Palo Duro Canyon State Park was only 5 minutes away. There are several trails on the property that you can hike. The kitchen is fully furnished. No oven. No problem. We brought food already prepared to eat. We stayed 4 days. Next time we definitely will be staying longer. We also got a chance to meet the owner and one of the staff members. What a fantastic way to experience Palo Duro Canyon! We stayed right on the West rim in Fortress. Perfect for 2 couples and everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The views were amazing from the patio. We spent a lot of time looking. We watched a herd of mountain goats cross from one side of the canyon to the other and then came up to our cabin for a brief visit. The cabins are meticulously managed and are in great shape. Doves Rest offers a sweeping view of Palo Duro Canyon- it is literally in the backyard! We stayed at Doves Rest in November 24', during WRCA Rodeo Championship. There was plenty to see and do in Amarillo, and at Palo Duro State Park, but the town of Canyon (about 15 minutes away) is a hidden gem! Our cabin was supremely clean and comfortable. It was stocked with all the essentials to enjoy meals "at home", or sip coffee on the cabin's private porch while watching the wildlife. Doves Rest is an excellent choice if traveling with pets. Stayed in the Durango and it was absolutely perfect! It is right on the rim of the canyon so the view is absolutely fabulous - the sun rises right in back of the cabin over the rim. It was so peaceful to sit out in the rocking chairs and enjoy the view. The interior is perfectly appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable and we loved the Keurig coffee maker in the mornings. It was a short drive to the canyon entrance. I really loved the longhorns grazing up and down Sunday Canyon Rd. And! I got to photograph the Aoudad Sheep as they went down into the canyon at dusk. We stayed in Santa Fe and it is lovely. It was better than I expected but the cabin is not the best part of the stay. The staff is amazing. My wife is in a boot and called to see about a shower chair and they managed to switch us to a different cabin with a walk-in shower and the shower chair was waiting for her. We had an issue with the microwave and it was fixed within ten minutes of our call. I would stay in any of the cabins just to have the staff. We had received text welcoming us before we arrived and it said we could extend an extra night if we would like. We were shuffling vacation plans on the fly and we decided to stay, so I replied to the text about 9pm. By 9:45pm, we were confirmed and I had a receipt. I was very surprised anyone was monitoring texts at that time. Very pleased with the cabin, the staff and the location is gorgeous. Plus, they're pet friendly so our Chihuahua came on vacation with us. read more

Wonderful view. So close to the canyon. Beautiful decor with comfortable furniture and beds. Maintenance quickly responsive to our request about starting the grill. Great outdoor space with dining table and comfortable rockers. Every morning we had a wonderful sunrise. And the local roadrunner came by for a visit everyday. The house was clean, comfortable, and equipped with every necessity we needed during our stay. Our furry friend also enjoyed his stay immensely! We were also surprised by such a sweet gift upon opening the refrigerator, a box of chocolates, bottle of champagne, sparkling juice and two complimentary Doves Rest glass champagne flutes. Dove's Rest is one of the coolest companies and they own some of the most beautiful properties on the rim of Palo Duro Canyon. The views are amazing and the cabins are so nice. My family and I hadn't visited the area before, so we decided to rent a cabin for 3 days. I've included some photos below of the cabin. I'm not sure what the name of our particular property was called but it was so beautiful. I highly recommend you grab one from their website directly! Super easy and straightforward and the accommodations are clean, well kept, and will allow you to create fun memories with your family. They have TV's in both rooms and living room, nice appliances, and a small collection of dishes/cutlery/spices to use while you're there. It's also a short drive to the entrance of the park and ~15 minutes to town. They even include a cute little coffee table book where you can read about the families who've visited before you and add a bit about your trip as well. The attention to detail is spectacular. We cannot say enough about the care and attention to detail that we found at the Lighthouse property over the Christmas holiday. We hosted Christmas eve there for 10 people and the house was equipped to handle that group for a lovely dinner. We grilled filet on the impeccable clean grille, a few enjoyed the hot tub which seemed like new and we had a lovely, homey fire in the fireplace (the detailed instruction of how to properly use it where very useful). We also were visited by "Santa's Reindeer". The house was well equipped and the instructions helped. It is unusually to find a rental that trusts its renters with so much including the Ruko so that our streaming options were broad. We had incredible sunrises and enjoyed walks in the nearby canyon and a beverage texas longhorn viewing at the neighboring "Sad Monkey". The communication with Dove's rest was exceptional and there were no surprises. We would highly recommend this to anyone. read more

We stayed for a couple of nights in Fortress unit to be close to hiking in Palo Duro Canyon (10 minutes to park entrance). The unit is roomy and well-maintained and perched on cliffs edge with the covered deck facing eastward for spectacular sunrises. It's located on a nice quiet paved road with a few hills for an invigorating early morning 5-mile run, if that's your thing. The hosts were gracious and texted us regularly to see if we needed anything, We'll book there again next time we decide to make the 9-hour drive from Houston. read more

Just got back from a long weekend at Dove's Rest and it was amazing! We stayed in the Laredo cabin and it was just beautiful. There were 6 in our group - 3 teens, 2 adults and 1 toddler. We had ample space to spread out, plenty of seating indoors and out, and the beds were nice and comfy. The cabin was super clean and we never found anything that seemed dirty. The cabin was well stocked with all the tools and kitchen gear needed to prepare just about anything you can think of. Plenty of plates, cups, silverware, etc. The view and location is what made this cabin exceptional. The view is just stunning and it's literally 5 minutes from Palo Duro State Park. We hiked a ton and took in all the nature we could. We will be back and will absolutely stay here again! read more

An absolutely perfect getaway place. We stayed two nights in the Chisholm cabin which overlooked the "back part" of the Palo Duro Canyon. The views are spectacular. We had originally wanted to rent the rustic cabins in the state park proper but were amazed that they were booked up a year in advance! Luckily, through a VRBO search, I found this location. Doves Rest offers three different variety of cabins. Ours was on the low end of their price offerings (one bedroom) but it was spacious and very nicely amended. Besides the view, our cabin had a covered patio complete with a rocking bench for two, a picnic table and a gas grill. The cabin main area boasted an open kitchen with table for four. A Keurig coffee maker with plenty of pods was available. Kitchen was stocked with plates, serving ware, glasses---most everything one would need. The kitchen flowed into a living room containing a full couch and a love seat situated in front of a wood-burning fire place. (A stack of wood is available on the edge of the cabin's yard.) A large LG flat screen was available along with DVDs. Nice touch but the view is better out the large picture windows. The bedroom (king sized bed) was huge and the bathroom layout was nice. Both the bedroom and the living area had ceiling fans. I liked the reverse jack-and-jill with the shower being in the center of two adjoining half baths. Loved the art work that was up. The manager/owners kept in great contact with us via email prior to and after our trip. Note that these cabins are about two miles away from Palo Duro State Park and not located in the city of Canyon. The owners will send you directions to get there along with an entrance code prior to your visit. A few amenities that we did not try were available including in house massages and a shopping service ($50 fee) to stock the kitchen. The best part of the entire trip was sitting on the patio, sipping wine, and watching for long horn sheep along the facing gorge. I can't recommend these cabins and the entire area enough! read more

I hosted a bridal shower weekend at Doves Rest. We booked two rooms. A few hours before we were checking in we received texts welcoming us and giving us details about how to get into the cabins. We arrived 45 minutes before the check-in time thinking it wouldn't be an issue because of the text we received. We started unpacking and this lady came zooming up in her car and asked us to wait outside that she was the manager and needed to check that things were in order. As she was walking inside with an obvious annoyed tone, she asked if we had requested early check-in which we were not given time to answer because she was walking through the door. Again, it was only 45 minutes early not hours and hours. She then came out and exclaimed that if anything was wrong it was because we were there early. I told her we were sorry, that we just assumed because of the text it would be acceptable to check in. She adamantly disagreed. The cabin itself is super cute and comfy and I would love to book again under new management. Our only complaint about the actual place was that the floor was filthy. Our feet were black after walking around barefoot for less than an hour. I'd like to think they would have been cleaned if we hadn't arrived early but the manager definitely didn't come zooming up with a mop bucket ready to clean anything. Additionally, I had booked via text message with a staff member massages and received a confirmation for each lady in my group. When I called to ask a question about them I was told by the manager that they didn't have any scheduled for the entire weekend and then questioned me on how I made the bookings. She was completely rude, didn't apologize, and it wasn't until I complained that she offered to try to set something up two days later which wouldn't work for our group's schedule. Needless to say, everything about this place is cute except the very rude and unprofessional "manager" (which she kept making sure we were aware of her title). read more

Kudos to Dove's Rest Cabins at Palo Duro Canyon. Specifically, Comanche Cabin. We had a party of 7-8 adults for a 3-day, 2-night stay in June of 2024. The Comanche Cabin has 3 bedrooms with king-size beds. Add some rollaways for extra adults, and our stay was perfect. The cabin was very well stocked, and concierge services were readily available. But the view! The sunrise view over the Palo Duro Rim from the back porch of the cabin and through the picture windows was spectacular! If our Harley Davidson Motorcycle Chapter returns to Palo Duro, this is where we will want to lodge. Thanks to all the staff! read more

When we pulled up to the Chisholm cabin, we were blown away by not only the views, but by the peaceful silence. No traffic;no loud humans, just the sound of a Panhandle breeze. The staff at Dove's Rest put a lot of time into attention to detail. These cabins are rustic, but also very modern, and have all the amenities one could desire. Fast wifi, an LG flat screen, a fully stocked kitchen, and a corkscrew waiting for us on the kitchen table. (Yep, wine on the patio followed, directly after unpacking.) But, don't kid yourself, people come here for the views. We spent the majority of our time in the evening soaking up the views of Palo Duro canyon, and of course, a bottle of wine, or possibly two. We were concerned that our anxious 7 year old would be bored. Not the case, as there is community horseshoes, swings, and obviously Palo Duro canyon just 1.5 miles away. I highly recommend Dove's Rest Cabins, and will most likely return. read more

This trip we had a small issue and the owner came right away and remedied the issue and took very good care of us. In a time where customer service is practically non-existent, the people at Dove's Rest Cabins provide exceptional customer service! They have done so from our first stay here and have proven beyond any doubt that they live and breathe customer service and are committed to their guests having an exceptional and positively memorial experience. TV was inoperable and no one responded until the next afternoon. 4. Dishes/sauce pans were unwashed, still had stickers on bottom. 5. Requested explanation of $75.00 required service charge and no one responded. 6. Requested explanation of 9.9% tax charge and no one responded. 7. We enjoyed our vacation to Doves Rest Cabins! It is perfect location to Palo Duro Park! Literally like 5 minutes from entrance so it makes it perfect to come back to cabin for meals. Park entry fee is $5/person/day unless you have a state park pass. Various trails to hike,bike,ride while staying here! The cabin is a 2 bedroom with amazing views of the canyon! We stayed in the Chairlift cabin but others are available through same rental place. We would absolutely stay here again! It was perfect size and views could not be beat! We enjoyed grilling steaks and enjoying a cocktail on the porch after a day of hiking. Our only cons (which would in NO way prevent us from staying just opportunities to improve): No fans in rooms-I prefer a fan in room at night to help with cooling while also drowning out my snoring husband! No dresser in rooms-I prefer to unpack when on vacation for convenience but as it happens our friends did not join so we sprawled out on the extra room Again, those small cons are def not a deterrent of us staying here in the future! We have already talked with friends to return and try one of the hot tub options with Doves Rest Cabins!
