Overall, a very pleasant experience. They only lost a point because there was an egg shell in our meal.

Smashing good brunch?…read more Smash Kitchen has been on our list to visit for a while till we finally had the opportunity. For more than a dozen years, this Markham spot has been known for good flavors and portions. The weekend brunch menu from 10am - 2:45pm had an assortment of creative dishes. We opted for their LA mac & cheese ($25) with a saucy cheese blend textured by herb crumbles. The soft shell crab benedict ($24) looked irresistible with two nicely poached eggs beside crab drizzled with maple buffalo hot sauce. While it came with no sides, bites of the whole fried soft shell crab on brioche toast were scrumptious. The inside of this restaurant is cavernous, featuring even a private room and patio. It's much larger than the dated plaza entrance would indicate. Staff were generally active at the tables, even delivering colour sheets to young ones. Skip it or hit it? It was a long time coming but brunch here didn't disappoint. Hit it!

A couple Saturdays ago, I was running a few errands. Once I was done, I felt like visiting a diner for lunch. I did a search and found Poached Dreams Diner in Aurora. I didn't mind driving up from Markham to check it out. It was straightforward getting here. I parked in the parking lot and walked in from what looked like the back of the diner. There's also a front door with a patio that faces Wellington Street East. I was immediately greeted by a young, enthusiast woman. I let her know that I needed a table for one. She got me to a comfortable booth by the window. The catch is that you have to watch your step to get to your seat. It's a treat when I have breakfast out. I thought that I'd be getting french toast. Well, all that changed when I saw a heading for comfort foods on the menu. Nothing makes me happier than seeing open-faced sandwiches on a menu. It was probably during my days living in Winnipeg that I fell in love with such sandwiches and at least a side. New goal: come here and have every open-faced sandwich on the menu. I got cold water to start. It was refreshing and much needed after running errands. I ordered these items for my meal: - Diet Coke (2) - Hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies My Diet Coke came with a glass with ice. I loved it. I wish the can was larger! I needed a second can for dessert. I loved my hot turkey sandwich. There was a generous amount of sliced turkey smothered in sauce over a slice of white bread. I got to choose my starch. I went with mashed potatoes. There was enough gravy over the turkey that I dunked my spoonfuls of mashed potatoes into it. I loved the steamed veggies. They were perfectly cooked. They also went into the gravy. The meal was delicious. I'd order it again. I felt like dessert. I asked if there was any. Baklava with pistachios. I said yes. I thought that it would be a square or rectangle. Nope. I got a roll. Cool! It was perfect. It had the right amount of honey. It was crispy and yummy. So good! I paid my bill at the table. I tipped and then tapped my credit card. I elected to have the receipt texted to my phone, which also signed me up for its points program. Yay! I learned that this diner has been open since June 2025. I'm always late to any party because I seem to live under a rock or in a cave. I'm glad that I visited this eatery. Great food. Great service. Great! I used the washroom before I left. The women's washroom was clean and had a full-length mirror. This eatery is huge. It looks like there's a cafe for those grabbing coffee and maybe a snack before leaving. I look forward to returning for more good eats and drinks. (148)

Upon entering, the space is super spacious and clean. My friend ordered their 2 egg special with bacon, and I ordered their soup and sandwich combo ($12/13). Amazing food and great service, I would like to come back and try some of their dinners dishes.

"Jessica" said she got my order (I had shown her the order on my phone) and said I could pay directly at the machine. I got a copy of the receipt through text. 15 minutes later, she gave us our tray and we started eating at one of the tables. I went through the menu online and noticed that it was shrimp in the roll, and not salmon as stated. I asked her about it and she said, "That's what you ordered." I explained that I ordered the "32 piece Rumbling" and didn't make any chances to it. I had paid for it as per her instruction. I even showed her the receipt. Jessica said she didn't even put my order in and that she thought I was the "6:20pm customer". She turned around and continued to go back to her packing. No apology was given about the mix up at all. I told her moving forward, she should check and confirm what her customers have ordered before making assumptions. We don't live far, but this would not be a place that I would return to.

I learned about both Cafe Mozaiko locations through two different Yelp experiences. This Markham…read morelocation was the first one that I had visited two summers ago. I loved the aburi (torched) sushi from this experience. I didn't return to this location until recently. It's mainly because the hours at its Richmond Hill location worked better for me than this one. Last Saturday, I noticed that Uber Eats had a BOGO deal on a number of items. It was the perfect opportunity to revisit this eatery in Cathedraltown and take advantage of these deals. I got the following items: - Aburi salmon ochi sushi (three pieces x 2) - Aburi shrimp ochi sushi (three pieces each x 2) - Lychee jasmine iced tea I was maybe twenty minutes away from this eatery. My order was ready halfway through my drive over here. It was pleasant at around 6 pm. It's free street parking. I had no problem finding a free spot steps away from the main entrance. It felt great walking through the door to head inside this eatery again. The tables and chairs for dining were still there. Friendly staff behind the prep area said hi. I liked the welcome. I indicated that I had an Uber Eats order. It was indeed ready. I got my drink and food handed to me. The nice woman said that I could grab a colourful straw for my tea. Naturally, I got a purple one. I thanked everyone and happily left with my dinner. I then had a smooth ride home. After I had put away all my groceries, I had dinner. I started with my tea. The lychee jasmine iced tea was yummy. It was slightly sweet. I enjoyed the flavourful jasmine tea. The lychee was subtle, but it took off a bit of the jasmine tea edge. It was my first time having it. I'd get it again. The aburi sushi was amazing, as usual. The aburi salmon ochi sushi was delicious. Each bite melted in my mouth. Torched sushi is always excellent here. The same goes with the shrimp version. The shrimp was torched nicely and was cooked perfectly. Not rubbery. It tasted fresh. This location recently added tofu pockets to its menu. A few months ago, you could only get them only at the Richmond Hill location. It's nice that they feature the same items at both locations now. It was wonderful returning to this location. The sushi is awesome here. I hope to return for more soon. (50)

The tower was beautifully presented and what I love most about the tower is their pancakes. Truly fluffy and light with whipped cream on top of it. Overall, service was efficient and attentive, often checked on and refilling water. On top of that, the restaurant has great decor and parking is provided in the back of the restaurant. Its considered on a slightly higher end for brunch ($20-30 range), but it was truly an amazing experience. They also have daily promos so worth checking out for dinner and late night deals.

I must say that I do understand why people are drawn to the restaurant - it is very pretty and makes for wonderful pictures! This includes the lovely visuals of the food, which is beautifully presented and extremely photogenic. The taste of the food, although quite acceptable, fell just a bit short of its looks. The variety of colours was not matched with a variety of flavours, and everything was somewhat on the salty and greasy side. That being said, we very much enjoyed the potato hash, pancakes, and French toast. The portion sizes also outdid themselves - if you're coming here for brunch, just be prepared for a long nap in the afternoon! Service was excellent: prompt, helpful, and friendly. The interior is fairly spacious and elegantly decorated. Overall, a pleasant experience even if it's not the most spectacular - and perhaps worth a visit for some based on the aesthetics alone.

House of Fries existed in my stomping grounds until a Yelp experience drew my attention to it. I had such a positive experience that I returned for more good eats! This eatery is a few doors down from Federick Restaurant, which offers Indian and Chinese cuisines. One of these days, I'll drop in. This eatery is on the southeast corner of Markham Road and Karachi Drive. Costco (Markham east, as this city has two) is a couple of blocks away. I had no problem locating this place during my first visit. There was lots of parking. I backed into one and headed inside. I've had no problems returning, either! I was the only customer in this eatery at around 6:15 pm. It was great being able to take a few pictures. Staff are extremely kind and helpful. A male staffee guided me through the ordering process. I was getting a pound of wings. He pulled out the menu and said that I could choose a flavour from the extensive list. I had already reviewed the list beforehand (I'm not kidding about loving wings) and went with honey dill. He was pleased that I knew what I wanted sauce-wise. The next step was selecting fries. I went with Mexican. I asked if I could get the sour cream omitted. He said yes. Yay! I ordered the same thing last week, but online through this eatery's site. It was simple. I paid online and drove over here to pick up my order. This place is on Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Skip the Dishes. I like the online site ordering better. The canned drinks are excellent. I love the Crush line. I've had the cream soda and grape so far. This place has exotic pop drinks, such as Fanta pineapple. I knew that I'd like it here! I've never dined here. If you order at the eatery, the wings-fries combo takes fifteen minutes to make. I was good. I took a seat at a table for two. I watched the pre-game show between the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks. The man let me know that my order was ready. It didn't feel like fifteen minutes had passed! I thanked him for his help and wished him a good evening. He wished me the same. I happily left with my dinner. For my online order, it was ready when I got to this eatery. I picked up my food, thanked the man, and left. I put my food in my insulated bag and drove home. I was looking forward to chowing down. The wings looked plump and thoroughly sauced. The honey dill sauce was whitish with lots of dill specks. It was almost as if raw honey was being used. It reminded me of the dill sauce that you get at St. Louis Bar & Grill, but I liked this one better. It was slightly sweet. I loved the dill. Each wing had the perfect amount of sauce without making it soggy. The wings were crispy and juicy. I got maybe more drums than flats. They were delicious. I want more. I thought that I wouldn't be able to finish the Mexican fries. Nope, I did. They were yummy. The fries had cheddar cheese, onions, tomatoes, taco seasoning, ranch, and roasted garlic seasoning. The cheddar cheese was melted and crispy in spots. I loved getting a bite of everything with the best fries underneath. The fries were long and had the skin on, which I loved. I am normally not a fries person, likely because they aren't special as a side. However, if you load them up with delicious ingredients, I'll love them, which happened here. I was so stuffed after both meals. They were excellent. I am constantly dreaming about returning for more. I saw on the menu that this place has wraps. It will be tough for me to order one, because the wings and fries have my heart. It's nice that there's another solid wing place in Markham for me to frequent regularly. It's becoming my go-to wing place to get my fix. (220)
